Observational and counting skills

Oliver Queen was a very observational man. He had to. Either it be during his work as a CEO, as Mayor or during his night work as the Green Arrow, his enemies were always ready to clash with him and use his weaknesses to defeat him, unless he found theirs first and used them to his advantage.

However, he never thought he would use it with his wife.

Felicity Smoak-Queen, Head of Applied Sciences and VP of Queen Industries, was turning into what Roy liked to lovingly call a fire-breather monster of destruction. This after she grabbed a five pounds weight and used his head as a target, luckily Roy was quicker than the flying object and ducked before his sister-in-law could be accused of manslaughter.

Nonetheless, the tension in the lair and inside the Smoak-Queen household could be cut with a knife. Felicity had a very important project to finish, under her direct administration, however, one of her workers kept making mistakes in his calculations, slowing the evolution of the project and quickening Felicity's wrath to anyone that might cross her path in the wrong moment. The most recent one was Roy, but the rest of the family suffered her ire as well in a way or another. Thea had her choice to take Tommy to Verdant in broad daylight when the only people there were herself, Roy and Sara (for a brief visit) described as reckless, Oliver saw his favorite tie being thrown away after Felicity saw a sauce spot in it and Diggle's driving was called erratic and dangerous. The only ones that were still safe were Tommy and Lyla, and just because he was her son and the woman was travelling under ARGUS' orders.

After Felicity snapped at Diggle he really started paying attention. She never snaps at him. Oliver and Roy, yes, okay, but never Diggle. So Oliver started observing her more closely if something like that was even possible. He observed her eating habits, her dressing habits, her speech, her sleeping pattern and started drawing a conclusion.

Felicity was eating strawberries with an alarming velocity.

Felicity was starting to show a bigger bosom in that hot pink dress he liked so much.

Felicity was starting to talk a bit slower than was normal for her.

Felicity was sleeping a lot more and wake up still tired.

He didn't have to be a genius to put two and two together, but apparently he was the only to do that. Well, it helped he had classified information about other parts of her as well…

He just couldn't wait to tell her and see the shocked expression on her face!

And it came sooner than he thought it would. Because Felicity wanted to go undercover in a masquerade ball that was just a sham for a business of sex traffic.

"You can't go!" Oliver said when she put her suggestion on the table.

"And why not? I will wear a mask, no one will know who I am… You need a woman to do this and neither Laurel nor Sara are here and Lyla is too busy with ARGUS!" Felicity replied with a loud voice and Oliver rolled his eyes.

"You are pregnant! You can't go to something like that!" Oliver said and the three members of his team looked at him in shock.

"What?"

"I'm what?"

"She is what?"

"Yes, you are pregnant! You are eating more, you are… hum… bigger in… hum" Oliver made a move in front of his chest while Diggle sniggered and Roy blushed, diverting his eyes immediately from Felicity's body. "You are talking slower like when you talk with Tommy. And you are sleeping more, but still getting tired."

"And that made you think I'm pregnant?" Felicity asked.

"Well, it's been 47 days since you had your last period…" Oliver concluded and other two men face-palmed.

"Too much information!" Roy said.

"I didn't need to know that!" Diggle shook his head.

"You've been counting?" Felicity asked and Oliver nodded enthusiastically.

"I'm the prime concerned during that time, well, after you obviously…" Oliver quickly said.

"Seriously, dude. We don't need to know about your dry spell!" Roy rubbed his face like he could erase the last few minutes of conversation.

"I was talking about buying ice-cream and making sure Pretty Woman DVD is on the house. My mind is not always on the gutter, unlike you apparently." Oliver said with a smug expression.

"Well, it was there enough, or we wouldn't be having this conversation!" Roy replied huffing and a laughter echoed from behind the men.

They turned around to face Felicity.

"I'm pregnant?" she said, her tone still doubtful. "But how could I not notice it?"

"Well, you were very worried about that project…" Diggle said and Felicity nodded.

And then…

"OH MY GOD! I'M PREGNANT!" she screeched, running to hug Oliver that opened his arms so she could jump into them.

"Dig, let's go!" Roy said quickly, pulling the other man's shirt and pointing towards the exit.

Diggle followed him quickly, remembering what happened the last time Felicity told Oliver she was pregnant. And finding their friends naked in the lair was not something they really wanted to replay.

The giggle right before they closed the door told them they had just escaped in time.
