Chapter 34

I own nothing. I do this just for funzies.

Alice POV

I just couldn't figure out what Bella's problem was. I was making her wedding as beautiful and wonderful as I possibly could, what woman wouldn't want a fairy tale wedding? But at every turn she bucked every plan I brought up to her. Now she was interfering with arrangements that had already been made and paid for.

I could hear Emmett whooping and cheering, telling the others that Jasper and Bella had agreed for him to officiate the ceremony. I was appalled! Emmett did not fit into my vision of what this wedding should be! I had already paid for a preacher!

I wanted to just rip all my plans up! I wanted to give up! I started to stomp through the house to voice my anger at Emmett, but I didn't get far.

I felt the familiar wave of dizziness that was the precursor to my visions, and then I was in another place in time and space.

"I think we should all go brother." Caius's voice practically dripped with pleasure at the thought of making a trip to slaughter a group of vampires. Everyone knew that Caius was the driving force of the Volturi's cruelness, just as Aro was the driving force behind their habit of collecting gifted individuals

If I were human I would have held my breath waiting for Aro and Markus's reply. They sat quietly for so long I thought maybe they wouldn't answer at all.

But Markus spoke first. "I have no wish to leave our home." His voice was ancient and tired. "I grow tired of this whole situation." He continued not looking at his brothers but instead staring off at nothing in the distance seeming bored.

For a brief second the vision shifted and Markus was setting himself on fire. Then as he pushed the decision away the vision focused again on the trio's conversation. How odd that he wanted to die.

"I believe we should go." Aro stated simply with a smiling at Caius, who smiled wickedly and triumphantly as he was sure he'd have a chance to make others suffer.

"Why?" Markus sounded exasperated.

"I wish to add to my collection brother. I've had Intel that there are many more gifted vampires in the party and I want them all." His eyes glimmered with excitement.

Markus waved a hand and shook his head in defeat. He knew his brothers would get their way. He also knew that Aro would not allow him to stay behind on his own for fear that Markus would kill himself. No he would keep him as close as ever and force him to continue on in this meaningless existence.

The vision shifted again many times over. The Cullen clan, our family and friends lying dead on the ground being set on fire, by the Volturi. Shifting again, almost every gifted vampire in our party wore a crimson Volturi cape, and at Aro's side was his new favorite, Bella. Shifting again my own mate dead before I had a chance to see him again. So many more visions, flying by so fast all of them clear enough to see clearly.

But far off in the distance there was one vision, blurred and obscured. I had to concentrate on it so hard it almost hurt just to make out the faintest of images. I thought I could see what looked like a mound of red lying on the ground and flicker of flame as it was being set on fire. Then another my mate and I many smiling happily together, there was no fear, just us content that we were safe. But that vision to was slightly blurrier than the others. There was something somewhere that had to be done, that had to be decided to put us on these paths.

I made a decision then and there that made them somewhat clearer. When Bella had first suggested using the visions against the Volturi I'd initially been excited at the visions I was getting. But then they began to darken no matter what I decided. I had been trying to distract myself with wedding plans, so as not to dwell on our inevitable tragic end.

How stupid I had been. I'd given up on us before I'd even really tried. I latched my mind onto the two blurred visions and began searching futures for any decision to bring us there. To see my sweet mate again.

As I searched I stumbled on several surprising paths that locked the visions into place. I began to formulate plans and try my best to cement our futures.

I prayed what I would do would be enough. Not just for my sake, or my mate, but for my family, for my friends. If I could manage this I could save more than just our lives. I might even be able to put an end to the Volturi altogether.

Bella's POV

When we finally arrived home the sun had set and the night life was stirring. You could hear an owl hooting not far off. There were several squirrels fighting over something just on the edge of the forest in front of the house. There was an odd calmness to the place. Usually, especially of late, the place was way too busy with vampires for the animals to brave coming this close to the house.

A shiver of fear ran thru me. I shot a look at Jasper who looked as worried as I felt. "Where is every one Jasper?"

"They went in search of the tiny wench." Peter's voice came from the tree line as he and Charlotte stepped out of the forest.

"What happened? Did she have a vision? Is something wrong?" I rapid fired questions at them.

"We don't really know." Charlotte said. "She was tearing around the house one minute looking pissed, then suddenly she got very calm and quiet for a long time. Edward said he couldn't see what she was seeing, that she was blocking him. Then she just tore ass out the back door."

I started to suggest we go help them look for her, but I heard several wolves and vampires coming our way.

Edward was the first to come into view looking sullen and wounded, the way he used to.

"Who pissed in your cheerios?" I asked as the talked past me and into the house without a word.

"Alice snapped at him and said if he came near her again while she was trying to figure something out she'd rip his throat out so he couldn't run his mouth to everyone else until she was ready." Kate laughed as she and Garrett came into view holding hands.

"Did she say what was going on at all?" Jasper asked sliding his own hands around my waist.

"Alice is trying to go with Bella's plan to control the visions instead of letting them control us, but she's never done so before so she's having trouble figuring out the correct path and method to do so." Carlisle said as he made his own way toward us.

"So why is she threatening the cry baby then?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Because he wouldn't leave her alone to think, he kept pestering and staring at her and voicing everything she seen again." Rose smiled I assumed at the fact that Edward was being tortured again. "When she tried to leave he was the one who yelled for us to follow her like an idiot."

"I'm not an idiot!" came the muffled complaint from the house. We all ignored him.

As much as I would have loved to see Alice kick Edwards's ass, I had to admit I was right with him on wanting to know what was going on, and what our official plan of attack would be. At this point we were cutting it pretty short on planning.

"She did say she was done with wedding stuff though." Emmett supplied. "She said she shouldn't have gotten so wrapped up in it all when she should have been concentrating on other things."

"Emmett did you get ordained?" I asked suddenly

"Yup!" he said with a wide grin.

Alice was right, she should have had her mind on other things and not the wedding. But it wasn't just her. I knew she'd been using the wedding to take her mind off her mate and our upcoming troubles. But we'd all tried to find ways to distract ourselves from the immediate danger.

We should have put a stop to Alice's plans and just got married quickly and simply then focused everything on the battle.

"Good, because we're not waiting we're getting married in the morning, and then we're getting this thing started." I didn't wait for anyone's reply. I walked with purpose away from Jasper, and into the forest.

"Don't you think we should wait on Alice to come back and let us know what the plan is Bella" Carlisle called after me.

I stopped and turned to look back at him before disappearing into the trees. "No. We'll all have to made decision and plans that will disrupt whatever Alice is planning. If what I've planned on my path will put us in danger she'll let me know. But until we start making some decision and setting a path for her visions to follow then we're still letting the visions and Volturi control everything." I turned back to the forest. "Where was she last?"

"Out by the river." Garrett called after me.

There was not need in them telling me to leave her alone. I was going anyway, there was no danger of me seeing her visions and telling the others. There was no danger as far as we knew of her telling me something and Edward or Aro reading it from me. In fact I was really the only safe person for her to talk to at this point.

I found her pacing next to a large tree, every time she passed it she would run her nails along the bark absent mindedly and leaving scratch marks in the trunk. I didn't interrupt her thoughts. I just sat and watched her.

I decided that if they sent Jane and Alec, Alec would have to go first. Jane could only affect one person at a time as far as I knew. If Jane decided to torture someone, we could take her out while she did so. She wouldn't be able to take us all down at once.

But Alec, he could put many of us down at once, blinding us as the over Volturi guard took us down easily.

"No." she said quietly. "That gets so many of us killed." She had stopped pacing and was staring at me now. "Aro has decided that they will all come. Plus Maria and her army are coming. We will be out numbered, even with the wolves."

I thought about some of us fanning fear and running only to come up from behind and taking out as many Volturi as possible. She just shook her head at me and sat down across from me.

We sat for several hours like that. I would make a decision, she would watch everything and we would adjust. Eventually we had a somewhat workable plan. There were still dark spots in her visions, and decisions to be made by others but we were making more progress this way than anything else we'd tried thus far.

When the sun began to rise she stood. "Come on, if you want to get married this morning you still have to wear the dress and get made up." She didn't seem mad that I wasn't waiting the extra day for all of her arrangements. She just said it as a matter of fact.

"I'm sorry I ruined all your plans." I said as we made our way back to the house.

"Don't worry about it." She said off handedly. "You wanted Emmett instead of the priest anyway, so we don't have to worry about his schedule. The caterer can still bring the food and cake tomorrow and the the pack can have it. It was more for them anyway. I was really only using it all as a distraction." She smiled a wickedly sweet smile at me. "Besides, when this is all over I'll be having my wedding and I can plan it however I want and then when you and Jasper decide to renew vows I can plan that as well."

Oh god I could just imagine what she'd plan for her own wedding. If my wedding was a circus hers would be an all-out theme park.

Jasper's POV

Even though it was only a day early I was excited and scared, and I couldn't believe Alice had given up any control over it all. Actually that was what had me the most worried. If Alice had given up control of the wedding planning then things must be graver than we'd initially feared.

But I pushed those thoughts away as best I could. If our fates were all that tragic then I was going to cling to whatever happiness I could before it all came crashing down.

Alice had taken Bella straight upstairs when they'd returned from the forest, so I couldn't see her before the wedding. I'd wanted badly to follow her the night before, but I could feel she wanted me to stay. If she'd wanted me to join her, she would have said so. I also understood that Bella was the only one Alice could talk to, that could not be read by anyone else. So I gave them their privacy.

Everyone else was setting up chairs, out by the pond while Bella and I dressed. Alice have most everything else already decorated and set up. Anything left was mostly food for the pack and a few odds and ends. Okay there were lots of odds and ends. I wasn't sure how she thought she was going to be able to pull off everything else she'd had planned.

"Hey Jasper, are you ready?" Emmett called as he pushed the door open.

He was dressed in a pair of boot cut jeans, black boots, a white shirt and a light blue vest. I had to smile, Emmett had never worn western clothes in his life.

I took one last look at myself in the mirror. I was wearing boot cut jeans, black boots, and a pale blue western shirt with pale white patterns over the shoulders and back. I had smoothed curls back and tied them at the nape of my neck with a small ribbon that matched the shirt. I grabbed my worn cowboy hat and completed my outfit.

"As I'll ever be." I told him. He just smiled at me and we made our way out to the pond.

Most of the pack was there, at least those who supported us. Most of our family and friends were already seated as well. The only ones missing were Peter, Charlotte, Rose, Alice, Esme, Kate, and Bella.

Emmett and I situated ourselves under the makeshift arch that Rose and Esme had made out of branches and strung with tiny silver lights and flowers. After a few moments I began to get antsy. I was in a rush to make her my wife.

Finally I heard a click from the speakers on the back deck and an upbeat song with a violin accompaniment began to play. I recognized it almost immediately as crystalize by Lindsay Stirling. It had been a favorite of Bella's on her iPod when she was still human.

Kate came first wearing a pale blue, one shoulder dress that was fitted thru the bodice and then flowed out at the hips, it was knee length and seemed to float around her as she walked.

Esme was next. Her dress was the same as Kates only her dress had thick straps on both shoulders and went down to her ankles. Alice came next and her dress was short like Kate but was strapless but was the same flowing pale blue material. Last came rose who wore the same dress as Alice only hers was long like Esme's.

Finally saw my beautiful bride. I knew that Peter and Charlotte walked on either side of her, but as far as I was concerned they didn't exist. Only Bella existed .

Her dress was old fashioned off white lace and silk. Silk across the shoulders fitted silk thru the bodice, and then loose flowing layers of silk and lace around her hips all the way down dragging the ground. Her hair pulled back in loose curls at the back of her head and neck. Her skin glowed and she carried a bouquet of our orchids.

As she approached I could hear someone speaking but I didn't understand them. I took Bella's hand in mine and the world seemed to fall away.

Somewhere in the distance I heard Emmett speaking and say my name. I wasn't sure what he said or what I was supposed to say but Bella looked up at me expectantly and the words began to flow on their own.

"Bella, I love you. I have loved you from the moment I set eyes on you, even if I didn't know it yet. I know I've put you thru hell. I'm sorry I ever left you. Being without you was the darkest place I've ever been in my entire existence. And you made promise once that if I ever found myself in the dark again that I would find my way back to you, and I did. You are the light in my life Bella and as long as you're with me I'll never be lost in the dark again." I hadn't planned on saying it and I'd never really been an overly romantic and sentimental kind of guy in my opinion but my mate just seemed to bring it out in me.

"Jasper you are my entire existence. You are my only reason for living. If I lost you, it would be like losing my own soul. You are everything to me. As long as we are together neither of us will ever be lost again. I will do everything in my power to make sure our lives together are full of happiness and more love than you could ever handle." She replied with sincerity. And I could feel it, every bit of love she felt for me I could feel it.

"Um okay well so much for the vows I had for you guys. That was a hell of a lot better. If you both take each other then kiss the bride brother." Emmett said with a laugh as the rest of the world began to come into focus again.

I smiled down at my wife as she tossed the bouquet away and grabbed me bringing me down for a heated love and lust filled kiss that seemed to go on forever.

We parted only when we realized everyone was clapping and hooting at us.

We were married. We were tied together in every way possible now.

"Now that's a kiss!" Emmett slapped me on the back.

"Jealous?" I turned and smiled back at him just in time to see the large, extremely fast creature hit him hard in the side taking him down. Screams erupted, roars and growls boomed thru the air, and all hell broke loose as my family was suddenly in a fight for their lives.
