I am the worst person- I know. I suck at updating frequently. But with school and work up my butt it's hard to do what I really want to- which is write. But I'm starting to squeeze in some writing here and there for you guys because I feel bad that I haven't updated in so long. So here is the next chapter. Sorry it's short, but I promise the next ones will be longer!

I don't own anything but Raegan.

Chapter Thirteen: Daddy Issues

I listened to Damon take his shower as I turned on the TV to listen to the News. Four people died yesterday when they didn't have to, word was bound to get around sooner or later.

"The Sheriff department believe drugs played a part in the assailant's deranged and violent behavior that left 3 people dead at last night's Booster Club Dinner at a local high school."

I shook my head at the lady on TV. They were still unaware of the girl that Damon killed last night. "The authorities believe last night's assailant may also be linked to the missing campers," Damon walked in at that time, in just his towel around his waist. He looked over at the TV while the girl was still talking, "And park rangers who have yet to be found. As well as 25 year old, Jessica Konig-" Spoke too soon. "Reported missing this morning."

I looked over at Damon but he wasn't paying any attention to me.

"The Sheriff's department says investigations are pending and no further comment will be made."

I watched as Damon left the room again without saying a word to me about anything. He hasn't spoke to me since last night when I caught him drinking from the girl.

"In related news, Mayor Lockwood spoke earlier today-"

I turned off the TV and laid flat onto Damon's bed.

I couldn't say that I was mad at Damon. Drinking blood from people is what he's use to- it's in our nature to drink from people and not blood bags. I was just disappointed in the fact that he did it in spite of Rose dying instead of talking to me about it.

My phone ringing broke me out of my thoughts with a sigh. I answered without looking at the caller ID, "Hello?"

"John's back." Elena answered back.

I shot up in the bed as her words reached my ears. "What do you mean, 'John's back'?"

"You brought back John Gilbert?" Damon asked as I paced the floor back and forth behind Stefan. "That was your big save Elena move?"

"I went to go look for Isobel, and I got John instead." Stefan explained uncrossing his arms from his chest. "He said he could help us, and we're desperate."

"But we are not John Gilbert desperate, Stefan." I snapped as I stopped pacing and decided to sit in the chair in front of Damon. It was easier to glare at Stefan this way.

"The guy tried to barbeque me." Damon said thinking of the night that I was turned and he was in the our old house, burning in the basement.

"Guys, Bonnie's new witch friend is working with Elijah, so we have to assume that the moonstone was never destroyed." I sighed as I listened to Stefan's reasonings. "Elena is putting all of her faith into some deal that she made with Elijah to keep everyone safe." Damon walked back and forth as he listened to Stefan. "I mean, do you trust Elijah?" He finished.

"I trust Elijah more than I trust John." I said getting up from the chair. "And that's saying something."

"I don't trust him." Stefan shook his head at me. "He's an original. He can't be trusted. It's not like we can just get up and kill him because apparently he can't die."

"Well, the fact that he's an original should have gave us the answer that he can't die, considering he's lived this long." I shook my head as I thought about us trying to kill Elijah.

"I'm still waiting for the part where John Gilbert is the answer." Damon said furrowing his brows at his younger brother.

"He knew about the sacrifice." Stefan started.

"Well, apparently everyone knows, so..." I shrugged my shoulders at him.

"Isobel told him." He said looking down at me. "He said he knew of a way to keep Elena safe."

"And how do we do that?" Damon asked dropping his arms from in front of him.

"He's not talking, at least not to me, anyway." Stefan's eye glanced at me quickly.

"There's no way in hell I'm talking to him. I'm staying here until he's gone." I said holding my hands in front of me in surrender.

"Like you don't stay here anyways." Damon said looking back at me over his shoulder. He, then, turned to his brother, "Great work, Stefan. Top notch. As if we didn't have enough problems."

I watched as Damon passed by his brother. Stefan looked over at me but I just shrugged my shoulders.

Stefan looked over his shoulder, "Hey, I'm sorry about Rose."

Damon barely looked over his shoulder as he answered, "Whatever, I knew the woman for 5 minutes."

"You cared about her after 5 minutes, though." Stefan continued. "I wonder what that means." He again glanced over at me, but instead of just staring, he smiled down at me.

"It means I care, Stefan." Damon said turning around to look at the younger Salvatore. "It means I'm changing and evolving into a man capable of greatness. You can thank Raegan for that." He pointed over to me quickly. "You better watch your back because I may just have to go get a hero hairdo of my own and steal your thunder."

He turned away from Stefan and I before leaving the room. I shook my head at his leaving body before turning to Stefan, "He's in denial."

Stefan sighed and was about to answer before his phone starting going off. "Hello?"

I left him to his thoughts as I grabbed my house keys off the table next to the door. I grabbed my purse when a voice spoke up from behind me, "You planning on running or do you want a ride?" I heard Damon ask.

"Are you offering?" I said looking back at him.

He shrugged his shoulders lightly, "Come on." He nodded his head at the door before opening it and leaving the house.

I shook my head before following after him.

I unlocked the door to my house and stepped inside. Elena started coming down the stairs as Damon and I made our way inside.

"Where's John?" Damon asked looking around the living room quickly.

"He's not here." Elena answered and I sighed happily. "He left. I don't know where he went." She leaned against the back of the couch. "He just blew in, annouced to Jenna that he's my dad, and then took off."

My mouth popped open as I heard Elena speak, "No, he didn't." Elena nodded her head at me with a sigh.

"It's public knowledge now?" Damon asked stepping beside me.

"Apparently." Elena muttered with a sigh.

I sighed as I moved away from Damon and next to my sister, "Are you okay?" I asked rubbing her arm gently.

"Yeah." She shrugged. "Jenna's head is spinning, but I'm okay."

"He say what he was doing here?" Damon asked from behind me.

"No." She shook her head. "You know, Stefan thinks that he's telling the truth about wanting to help me." Elena pulled her coffee up to her lips and took a gulp.

"Do you believe him?" I asked grabbing the mug out of her hand and taking a sip.

She shook her head, "No. I don't believe him for a second."

"I don't either." Damon said as he wrapped an arm lightly around my shoulder. I froze for a second out of shook before leaning into his touch- I thought he was still giving me the silent treatment.

"What are we going to do?" Elena asked looking between Damon and I.

"Kill him." Damon simply said with a light shrug. He dropped his arm off my shoulder before walking towards the door.

I sighed, "Damon-"

"I'm joking." He said looking back at me. Elena and I raised our eyebrows at him, not believing that he was joking. He sighed, "Okay. I'm a little serious."

"Damon!" Elena protested. She threw her arms up at him.

"I'm not going to hurt him." Damon said stepping over towards us again. "I'm the good guy now, remember?" A flash of the girl, Jessica, on the news flashed into my head before I shook it off.

"What does that mean?" Elena asked cautiously.

"I'm going to have a civil conversation with your father." Damon said looking down at Elena.

I looked over at Elena before sighing, "Wait, we're coming with you." I said grabbing my jacket off the hook next to the door. I hurried after Damon as I heard Elena slammed the door shut behind her.

I grabbed onto Damon's arm as we walked into the Grill looking for John. Elena leaned over to us as she lowered her voice into a whisper, "We just need answers. Please don't do anything stupid."

Damon smirked down at the both of us, "Yeah, but stupid is so much more fun."

"Damon." I said grabbing his arm tighter as he tried walking towards John again. "I'm asking you to try to keep it together, okay?" Damon sighed as he looked into my eyes. "Be the better man, Damon."

Damon searched into my eyes, looking for any sense of joking, but after a while, he gave up. "Okay, then."

He grabbed my hand before walking over to John, who was standing over Jenna and Alaric having dinner. I felt Elena grab my other hand lightly out of habit. I looked back at her, but she didn't look anywhere other than Damon and John's interactions.

"John, buddy!" Damon greeted sarcastically. "How you been?"

John smiled sarcastically before answering, "I've been alright, Damon. It's good to see you." He said before turning to look at me, "Hello, Raegan."

"John." I said with a nod of my head. "Heard you gave everyone a surprise coming back here. But I'm not."

"No?" He asked looking down at me.

"Nope. You have unfinished business, don't you?" I said with a slight smirk.

He opened his mouth to answer before shaking his head and leaving the table. I let my full smirk show once he left. Elena shook her head at me but I just shrugged my shoulders.

I smiled over at Elena, but I couldn't stop watching Damon all night. I knew that he was going off the high end, but he wasn't letting it show.

Jenna started walking up to Damon with a smile, "So, my friend wants to meet you." I perked up as I looked over at the interaction. "Damon Salvatore, this is-"

"I know you- the news lady." Damon said looking over at her.

The blonde nodded, "Yeah. Andie Star. Nice to meet you." She smiled with a flirty smirk. I growled under my breath, making Elena look over at me in question. I nodded my head over to the two of them and Elena stopped talking to watch.

They both stared at each other for a while, neither knowing what to say, before Andie spoke up, "Can I buy you a drink, Damon?"

"My glass is all full, Andie." He said lifting his glass before getting off his seat and walking towards me and Elena.

Damon walked up to me before pulling me into his side and kissed the side of my head. Elena smirked as she looked at him, "You totally blew her off."

"I don't need another woman in my life." Damon shook his head making me smile up at him. He lifted his finger to poke my nose lightly making me laugh.

"You didn't have to be rude." Elena shook her head as she glanced back at Andie. I looked over my shoulder to see her looking dejected.

"She'll be fine." Damon shrugged his shoulders.

Elena's phone starting ringing the same time mine did. I looked down at the caller ID to see Caroline calling me. I sighed before walking away from the group to answer the call.

"Caroline, what's up?" I asked as I walked more towards the exit to the Grill.

"Not who you're expecting." I heard over the phone. "Is it?"

I growled, "Who is this?"

"Ask your boyfriend." She snarled. "I already told Stefan the deal, but I'm letting you know as well- I want Tyler here in 20 minutes or Caroline is dead, do you understand me?"

I looked back at Elena and Damon talking before sighing, "Where are you?"

I entered the field the same time I heard Damon's voice interrupt Stefan's. I cussed mentally because I was going to get chewed up for being here, but I needed to stop at the house first. I needed a little wolfsbane that I hid in my closet.

"My brother- the peacemaker." I heard Damon's voice shout out. I stayed hidden behind the trees as I surveyed the area. "Since Stefan got here before me, I'm going to let him try it his way before I resort to my way, which is a little bloodier." They all looked over at Damon. "So, give us Caroline."

"Let go of Tyler." Jules snapped.

"Give us Caroline." Damon repeated.

I decided to step out of the shadows at that time, "Without a full moon, it's not an even fight." I spoke up as I stepped onto the other side of Stefan. I saw everyone look over at me from the corner of my eyes, but I kept looking at Jules. "And you know we'll take you."

"I'm not so sure about that." Jules said narrowing her eyes slightly in a glare. She put her fingers up to her mouth before whistling loudly.

We all looked over to the right as we saw more and more werewolves coming out of hiding. They were all carrying weapons of some sorts. There were at least 20 werewolves around us, waiting for the chance to attack.

"Let's try this again." Jules started up, making us look back at her. "Give us Tyler."

Damon looked over at Stefan, "You heard her. Go." He nodded his head for Tyler to go over to Jules. "Get over there."

The guy that was closest to Jules decided to speak up, "Which one of you killed Mason?"

"Uh, that'd be me." Damon confessed. I glanced over at him with a worried expression but he was too busy paying attention to the werewolf.

"Boys," The same wolf started. "Make sure that one suffers." He said pointing to Damon with his stake.

Damon smiled at all of the werewolves around us before glancing over his shoulder at Stefan and I, "We can take them."

"Uh..." I looked around the field at all the guys watching us.

"I don't know about that." Stefan shook his head agreeing with my thoughts. There were too many, it'd be a miracle if we could pull it off.

"Well, then..." Damon started looking straight forward again. He made eye contact with Jules before he set off for her.

Jules, already knowing that he was going to go for her, jumped back as Damon got closer and pushed off the camper to jump over and land behind him.

One werewolf that was closest to Stefan started up his flame-thrower. The guy that was closest to me got his crossbow ready with the stakes already in place. I held my breath as I waited for the perfect time to strike.

Stefan ran behind the guy with the fire and used him as a shield. I ran behind the guy with the crossbow and quickly snapped his neck, making him fall to the ground dead. I growled as one of the other werewolves quickly picked up the crossbow again, while his friend grabbed my hair and pushed me against the tree.

Before he was able to do anything, I reached into his chest cavity and pulled out his heart. I threw the heart onto the ground the same time the guy with the crossbow shot at Stefan.

Stefan's hand quickly caught the stake that was aiming for his shoulder.

I saw in the corner of my eye, Damon pull out another werewolf's heart as he fell to the ground.

I heard Stefan groan, but when I looked over I felt a sharp pain in my back. I couldn't hold the scream that escaped my throat as I tried to reach around to get the stake in my back out.

I heard a gunshot go off and Damon's grunt following. I was finally able to reach the stake before I pulled it out. I rushed over to Damon before throwing Jules off to the side.

She landed on her feet and growled up at me. She picked up the gun before I was able to make a move for it, and shot me in my shoulder, twice.

I snarled as I hit the ground as the bullet's moved in further. Jules rushed over to the camper and pushed Caroline up against the vehicle. Tyler peeked his head out of the camper door and looked around wide eyed at all the dead bodies around the camp ground.

I saw the first guy that asked about Mason, get up off the ground and kneel over Damon with a stake in his hand.

"No." I whispered quietly as I tried reaching with my good hand to stop him.

Just as he was about to push it into Damon's heart, the guy started screaming. In fact, Jules started screaming too. They both fell to the ground holding their heads. I got up from the ground to see the witch that was working for Elijah, come out of the shadows with his hands up.

I looked around the field at all of the werewolves still alive to see them all holding their heads and screaming.

"Elijah made a promise to Elena." The witch called out to all of us. "I'm here to see it's upheld." He looked down at Damon and I before back at Stefan, "You need to go."

We all nodded our head as we got up from the ground and walked closer to the male witch. "Get out of here, now." He ordered lightly.

We didn't waste anymore time in staying where we were. I grabbed Caroline's arm and pulled her along with us.

I looked over my shoulder to see Tyler still hanging around. I shook my head before sighing and following Damon and Stefan out of the forest.

I sighed as I rubbed my wet hair with a towel as I walked out of Damon's room. I had just finished taking a shower when I heard the door being knocked on. I knew that Damon would answer it, whoever it may be.

I walked downstairs to see John at the door. He looked up once he noticed me coming down the stairs. "You're staying here now?" He asked looking at my PJ's. "How Jenna feel about this?"

"Jenna doesn't have a say, I'm 18. I can do what I want." I said as I made my way next to Damon. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to finish Damon and I's conversation from earlier." John said looking over at Damon.

"I'll bite." Damon said with narrowed eyes.

John walked around the both of us as he entered the boarding house. I shared a look with Damon as John started speaking again, "I've been thinking. Personal feelings aside, Damon," Damon closed the door as we followed him into the living room. "I think you, Stefan and Raegan will do all you can to protect Elena."

"I agree with that statement." Damon nodded.

"So, I come bearing gifts." John started. He opened the cloth that he was carrying with him to reveal something that looked like a stake, but it didn't look completely wooden.

"What the hell is that?" I asked looking down at the object.

"This is how you kill an original." John said picking it up. "In this vial is ash for a white oak tree that dates back to the genesis of the originals." He picked up the little glass vial. "The dagger must be dipped into the ash and then plunged into their heart." He stuck the dagger out and poked Damon in the chest right above his heart.

Damon grabbed the dagger and looked down at it. He glanced back at John with cautious eyes, "How do you know all this, John?"

"Isobel." John answered. That answer should have been obvious. "She's very good at finding out things. But of course, you know that."

"Where is Isobel?" I asked curiously looking up at John.

"Let's just say if she accomplishes what she's attempting, Klaus will never set foot in Mystic Falls." John said looking down at me with an eerie gaze. "Where Elena's concerned, you both and I are on the same side."

John took one last look at the both of us before walking off and out of the boarding house.

I shook my head as I heard the front door being closed. "Do we trust him?" I asked looking down at the dagger on the table.

"No." Damon shook his head. "We trust this dagger." He rolled it back into the cloth before sighing and looking over at me. "Are you okay?" He asked looking over at me.

"I'm fine. All wounds healed." I shrugged my shoulders.

He nodded. It was quiet for a minute before he stepped forward and pulled me into a tight hug. I sighed against his collarbone and hugged him back just as tightly.

The hug didn't last long, due to the fact that my phone started going off. I sighed as I pulled away before answering the device, "Hello?"

"Got any plans for tonight?" I heard Stefan's voice on the other end.

"No," I started slowly. "Why...?"

I saw Stefan walk up to Caroline's door and knock. It didn't take long for her to answer the door with a small, 'hey'.

"What's going on?" She asked confused.

"I was a bit worried about you." Stefan started. "After everything you went through tonight."

Caroline sighed, "I'm fine."

"Good." Stefan nodded. "But just in case, I... uh," He pointed over his shoulder at us. "Brought some backup." He stepped aside, allowing Elena, Bonnie, and I to step forward.

I was the first in the line of girls. "We're gonna slumber it." I said leaning against Caroline's front door.

"Like we use to." Elena nodded as she walked in.

"We haven't done it in ages." Bonnie smiled as she joined the rest of us.

"Okay." Caroline nodded her head as she started crying. We all pulled each other into a four-way hug.

I watched as Stefan walked back down the stairs and to his car. He pulled out of the driveway, leaving us girls to fix Caroline.
