Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh

With Yugi

Yugi slowly trudged down the street heading to school. Today was going to be a nightmare. First, he was going to have to face Ryou and try and find a way to explain that it wasn't a real date he'd asked him out on which Yugi knew was going to be super awkward. Then he was probably going to get back his math test and he would see how not good he did. He hoped he at least passed the stupid thing otherwise he'd have to have his grandfather sign it and explain why he failed his second test this semester.

And that was just before lunch. After lunch he and Atemu had their oral presentation on Ammut. Yugi himself did not feel particularly confident in the project, but then again that might be because Atemu actually did the vast majority of it. Atemu made the complete visual portion and wrote ninety-five percent of the paper although that was mainly because Yugi had had a hard time finding relevant information and Atemu also had a tendency to work on it in the middle of the night.

Yugi groaned when the sky literally opened up without warning. So much for sunny skies. Yugi thought to himself as he continued his walk to school. If the weather was any indication of how his day was going to go then Yugi really wished he would have tried to convince his grandfather to let him stay home. Even if that meant he was stuck doing inventory all day. At least if I had been doing inventory I wouldn't be soaking wet right now and still have four blocks before I get to the school.

Yugi felt the beginnings of a blush color his face. The only reason he hadn't decided to skip was because of that oral presentation. Atemu was counting on him and Yugi did not want to let Atemu down no matter how unprepared he felt he was going to put up with this terrible day in some twisted attempt to impress Atemu.

I really need to stop thinking about trying to impress Atemu. First off, Atemu doesn't like me. He barely even tolerates me. Secondly, I have a date set up with Ryou I need to focus on that first so I can try and figure out what my dreams are trying to tell me. Yugi thought to himself. Of course, at this moment a car came speeding by driving right through a puddle so Yugi ended up even more soaked than he already had been. His hair was actually falling flat around his face which made his forty-five minutes in the bathroom washing, drying and gelling his hair a complete waste of time.

Yugi glanced down at his watch and mentally cursed as he tried to pick up the pace. He had about ten minutes before the first bell rang. Okay, I need to start studying to take my test for a learners permit so I can drive myself to work because this is kind of ridiculous.

Finally Yugi jogged through the school gate and quickly made his way through the courtyard and bounding up the steps into the school. Yugi flinched as he heard the squelch squelch of his wet shoes as he walked down the corridor. Yugi made his way to his locker, pausing briefly once he arrived to tug off his shoes and dump out the inch of water in the bottom of them.

"Mornin Yug, looks like ya furgot ta dry off from yer shower dis mornin'." Joey said with a goofy grin on his face as he leaned against the locker beside Yugi's.

Yugi stuck his tongue out at his friend, "Oh ha ha. I got caught in the rain on my walk to school this morning." Yugi replied as he attempted to wring out his school jacket some so there was a chance it would dry before lunchtime. He hated coming to school and looking like a drowned rat. Once Yugi had accepted that his jacket was as wrung out as he could manage he reached into the back of his locker and pulled out a towel he had forgotten to bring home from their swimming unit last month and quickly began to try and towel off his hair just as the warning bell rang.

"See ya in class Yug." Joey called out before he pushed off the locker and headed down the hall. Yugi continued to quickly dry his hair as best he could so at least it wouldn't be hanging in his face all day. Yugi tried to towel his hair even quicker before he gave up and tossed the damp towel back into his locker, picked up his bag and jogged down the corridor heading for homeroom.

"Hey, Joey, wait for me!" Yugi called out.

Up head Yugi saw Joey come to a stop and Yugi quickly jogged down the corridor until he had caught up with his friend. Joey playfully slung his arm around Yugi's damp shoulders before the two made their way into homeroom.

"You certainly seem like you're in a good mood today Joey." Yugi commented.

Joey gave Yugi another bright smile, "I'm great Yug. I'm great." Joey said.

Yugi chuckled, he was glad that Joey was back to acting like his normal cheerful goofy self. Now, if he could only figure out what had been going on with Anzu it would officially be case closed.

With Marik

Marik groaned as he rolled over on his bed shooting an irritated glare at his alarm clock which said it was 745 in the morning. Marik didn't have to be up until noon since he didn't have class until 1245 this afternoon which was when his Psychology of Horror class started.

Marik went to roll back over when the sound that had woke him up the in first place came again. A steady, knocking on his front door. Marik slowly sat up in bed, dragging a hand down across his face as he tried to wake himself up. He had been up until almost one am finishing a stupid paper before he had finally crawled in bed.

Ishizu is at work right now and Malik had better be at school Marik thought to himself as he slowly dragged himself out of bed. He was dressed only in a pair of black shorts and his hair was messier than normal, even for him but in his defense he had been asleep like any normal, sane person would be at this hour. Marik marched through the house heading right for the front door. He stopped briefly to peak his head into Malik's room, checking to see if his brother had forgotten his back pack or something like that but nope the room was back pack free.

Marik wrenched open the front door, "What?" He growled before he froze standing in front of him was Mr. Azul's blushing sixteen year old daughter Kisara. Marik frowned as he took in his sister's colleague's daughter. She looked like she was dressed in her school uniform so he was really confused about what she was doing standing on his front step instead of sitting in homeroom since homeroom at Domino High started about ten minutes ago.

"Good morning Marik, can I come in?" Kisara asked.

Marik sighed but he did step aside to allow the girl to come in. "Yeah, why don't you have a seat in the living room while I go and toss on a shirt." Marik mumbled before he headed down the hallway. He had met Kisara a little bit more than a year ago when his sister had begun the process of getting the traveling exhibit to come to Domino Museum which she had been transferring to herself. Marik himself had been eighteen years old and fresh out of high school with no plans really for where to go next in life. Ishizu had dragged him along because she said if Marik didn't want to figure out his own future she'd figure out one for him. Slave labor for the museum.

Marik had been dragged along with Ishizu to that first meeting because he was the grunt who was stuck carrying his sister's bag which had almost fifty pounds worth of documents crammed into it. Marik had followed his sister into Dr. Azul's office where Ishizu was invited to take a seat. Sitting in the room as well had been Kisara. After Marik had dropped the bag next to Ishizu on the floor Mr. Azul, sorry that should be Dr. Azul, had suggested Kisara take Marik up to the cafeteria so he could grab himself a coffee.

Kisara had been sweet, if not a little bit on the shy and quiet side. Marik hadn't minded her company in fact he almost forgot she was there after a little while because she was so quiet. When the deal had gone through and the arrangements were made Dr. Azul pulled Marik aside and asked, much to Kisara's horror, if he could keep an eye on Kisara for him. Marik had shrugged. He wasn't going to be her bodyguard but if he was around he would do his best to keep unsavory characters away from her.

Marik grabbed a black tank off the floor in his room before he pulled it on. He also grabbed a pair of beige cargo pants and pulled them on before he turned and headed back into the living room. At least now I'm decent. Marik thought to himself.

Marik then made his way back into the living room where Kisara was perched daintily on the edge of the couch, which her school bag resting next to her feet. Marik plopped down on the armchair across from Kisara and gave her a rather pointed look. "Not to be rude or anything Kisara, but would you mind telling me what the hell you're doing here?" Marik asked flatly.

Kisara's cheeks flamed bright red as she glanced down at her feet. "I'm sorry for disturbing you. I should go." Kisara mumbled, her voice was so quiet that Marik could barely make out what she'd even said.

"You're here now. You might as well tell me why you decided to come here instead of going to school." Marik replied. She was already tardy and even if he sped she was still going to completely miss her homeroom class and probably even be late to first period. The least he could do would be to address whey she was skipping school in the first place. That way at least her tardiness would serve a purpose.

"You'll think I'm being stupid." Kisara mumbled, her cheeks still the same bright red color.

Probably, but that's beside the point. Marik thought to himself. She was a high school kid who had skipped school, that about summed up standard stupid teenage behavior in Marik's mind. Not to say he himself hadn't done the same thing about thirty times. He wasn't judging just acknowledging the stupidity in the action. "How about you let me be the judge of that." Marik said flatly. He really wasn't good at the whole touchy feely crap. There was a reason he was lucky his sister was way older than him.

"I just really wanted to talk to you. You're my only friend and I needed to talk to someone." Kisara said.

Oh joy. Marik thought to himself as he sat back further in the armchair, his violet eyes fixed on Kisara, "Okay, then talk." Marik prompted. He really hoped it wasn't some sob story because Marik had very little patience for that kind of nonsense. But for Ishizu's sake he would feel obligated to try. A brief glance down at his watch showed it was 754. Yup, she is definitely going to be late for first period.

"I think I made a terrible mistake. I had sex with Honda up on the roof of the school yesterday during study hall. Now I'm freaking out and I really don't know what to do." Kisara said as tears began to slip down her face, she climbed off the couch and threw her arms around Marik's torso.

For his part Marik sat stiffly in the armchair as Kisara sobbed into his shirt. Well shit. He thought to himself before he awkwardly brought his arms up around Kisara to give her a hug. Marik mused he was probably the worse person to come to for comfort since his solution would probably just be to kick the boyfriend's ass and leave it at that. But no, he was stuck comforting a sobbing sixteen year old girl.

With Yami

Yami and Atemu waved good bye to Mai once she dropped them back off at home at about 11am since neither of the boys needed to be at school today. The two walked into the mansion and were greeted by the house staff before they headed up to their room. Last night had been okay and the two had gotten some decent sleep although Yami was still really worried about Atemu. Yami was actually really relieved that today they didn't have to go to school since it meant he could spend the entire day just talking to his brother and hopefully find a way to finally get through to him.

Yami pushed the door closed firmly behind them and flicked the lock. He turned to see Atemu had flopped down onto their bed. Yami frowned as he took in his brother's form. Atemu looked terrible, he had bags under his eyes and he was a little on the pale side. Yami slowly padded across the room before he lightly sat on the edge of the bed beside his brother.

Yami lightly ran his hand through his brother's tri-colored locks. "Ate?" Yami whispered.

"Hmm?" Atemu mumbled.

"You know I'm here for you, right?" Yami whispered. He had told his brother he was there for him over a hundred times it seemed like but still Atemu it seemed had a really hard time believing it.

"I know that Yami. I know that you're here for me. You always have been." Atemu replied.

"And I always will be." Yami replied firmly.

Atemu sighed, "I know that Yami." Atemu mumbled. Yami frowned, to him it sounded like Atemu was just saying what he thought Yami wanted to hear so he would drop it. Like he didn't really believe what Yami was saying. The fact that his brother felt the need to lie to him really hurt.

What would Ate do? Yami thought to himself. His brother had never failed to be able to drag Yami out of a funk no matter what had caused said funk in the first place. The sad thing was that he was struggling to do the same for his own brother. Based on Yami's confused understanding it sounded to him like Atemu thought he and Yami were drifting apart and this whole mess with Akunadin was just aggravating things.

The problem was they weren't drifting apart. So, he had a boyfriend. So what? So he had made a new friend. He was allowed to have a friend and a boyfriend and still maintain his close relationship with his brother. But clearly Atemu was doubting that. So, he was going to have to prove to Atemu that he was wrong. That Yami and him were just as close as they always had been.

Well, there is one thing that I can try. Yami thought to himself. It was something he and Atemu had not done for a while now and maybe that was why Atemu thought they were drifting apart. The last time Yami would normally have needed it he asked Atemu not to and then his whole relationship with Seto had really taken off.

If there is one thing that would prove to Atemu that he and I are still close it would be that. Yami thought to himself before he laid down on the bed beside his brother. Another obstacle was he had never really started anything with Atemu before other than an occasional kiss. Well, here goes nothing. Yami thought to himself.

"Hey, Ate?" Yami whispered once he had laid down on the bed beside his brother, Yami was up on his side facing Atemu who had closed his eyes.

Atemu blinked his tired scarlet eyes open before he glanced over to face Yami, "Yes Yami?" Atemu asked. Yami however did not reply verbally but instead leaned forward and captured his brother's lips in a kiss. Atemu groaned at the unexpected kiss before he pulled away.

"Yami, what are you doing?" Atemu asked his brow furrowed in apparent confusion.

"Kissing you Ate, what does it look like I'm doing?" Yami asked, his hand lightly tracing the side of his brother's temple.

Atemu rolled his eyes, "I see that Yami. What I meant is, why are you kissing me?" Atemu asked.

"Because I can." Yami replied. He knew if he gave the real reason of because you look like you need the comfort this time. So, to prove that we aren't drifting apart I was going to let you have sex with me. If he told Atemu that he knew Atemu would be very upset and that it would drive them ever further apart than they already were.

Atemu snorted, "That isn't why we do that Yami. If you want to kiss someone for the sake of it I'm pretty sure your boyfriend would be more than happy to clear his schedule." Atemu muttered.

Yami gave his brother a decent imitation of a seductive smirk, "And I want to kiss you Ate. Do you have a problem with that?" Yami teased.

Before Atemu could reply once again Yami had leaned forward and once again connected his lips with Atemu's. Both brothers had their eyes open as they gazed at one another. Yami flicked his tongue against Atemu's sealed lips requesting permission to deepen the kiss. Atemu raised a questioning brow again seeking a reason behind his brother's bizarre behavior. Yami's response was to press his lips more firmly against Atemu's own and once again ran his tongue along Atemu's lips.

Atemu rolled his eyes before he parted his lips slightly, allowing Yami to slip his tongue into his mouth, his own lips moving against Yami's without much conscious thought. Yami twirled his tongue with Atemu's both boys groaning at the pleasurable contact. Yami snuck his hand forward and lightly grabbed the edge of Atemu's shirt and started to tug it upwards.

Yami was forced to break the kiss in order to try and pull his brother's shirt over his head. However, Atemu would not allow Yami to do so. His arm stopped Yami from removing his shirt before he tugged it back down to its prior position.

"Yami, no. Why don't you tell me what brought this on?" Atemu inquired, his brow furrowed in confusion.

"Can't I just want to be with you? Do I really need a reason?" Yami replied flippantly as he lunged forward intending to drag his brother into another kiss. However Atemu moved out of Yami's reach his eyes firmly locked onto his brothers.

"I'm going to school." Atemu said firmly before he climbed off the bed and walking over to his closet grabbing a school uniform out and tugging his shirt over his head.

Yami frowned as he watched his brother quickly change. "I thought dad had called the school and had the both of us excused for the day. I thought you and I were going to spend the day alone together. Just the two of us." Yami mumbled.

"Can't right now. I have an oral presentation today for the group project me and the brat have been working on. I'm sure you'll be fine here on your own." Atemu mumbled before he pulled on his black leather boots and picked up his back pack. He walked over to the computer and hit print, printing out his and Yugi's paper.

"But Ate." Yami whined. He knew Atemu didn't give two shits about that project. The only reason he was making a big deal about it was because it gave him a perfect excuse to avoid dealing with what was actually going on, which really frustrated Yami.

"We'll talk when I get back home this afternoon. I'm only going to be gone for the one period. Then I will spend the rest of the day with you. I promise Yami." Atemu said before he headed out the door, "And please Yami, keep the door locked while I'm gone." Atemu added over his shoulder.

Yami watched as Atemu pulled the door closed behind him with horror. He could not believe Atemu was really leaving. Seems like he and Atemu had drifted further apart than he had realized. This is not good, not good at all.

With Joey

Joey couldn't help but smile as he stepped out into the cool afternoon air. It was lunch time now and thankfully the rain had finally let up however, because the grass was still damp the gang had decided to eat lunch together in the cafeteria. However, Joey would not be joining them today since there was something that he needed to do instead. He'd have to be quick if he wanted to make it back in time for class.

Joey jogged through the courtyard and out the gate turning before he headed towards downtown Domino. He had someone that he needed to meet with about a possible job so he'd be able to treat Anzu like the classy lady she deserved to be. If she was that adamant about Joey being worthy of her than he was going to treat her like the princess she was.

Joey turned down a rundown alleyway with an overflowing dumpster. The side of the dumpster was plastered with graffiti and the alleyway was also littered with broken beer bottles. The place he was looking for was the door that was boarded over at the end of the alleyway.

Joey reached the piece of plywood hanging on a rusty hinge and pounded harshly one the door. The door was pushed open from the inside revealing a teenager with shoulder length green hair that Joey had really thought he'd never see again.

"Well, well, well boys. Look what the cat dragged in?" The teen greeted with a smug smirk.

Joey rolled his eyes, "Ya gonna let me in er wut Hirutani?" Joey asked.

Hiruntani chuckled before he stepped aside allowing Joey to walk in. "And here I thought you were done with us Joey Wheeler, done being a part of the gang. And yet here you are not even a full year later standing in my doorway." Hirutani mocked.

Joey shot Hirutanti a glare, "I ain't rejoinin ya stupid gang." Joey growled.

"Then what are you doing here?" Hirutani asked.

"Ya still runnin' dat fight club?" Joey asked suddenly.

Hirutani chuckled, "So what if I am. Why would a saint like you be interested in something like that?" Hirutani asked.

"Cause I need ta make sum money." Joey replied flatly. As long as nothing had changed about the club from back when he ran with Hirutani he remembered the way things worked. He'd climb into the ring and fight. Winner won 100.00, plus the ranking reward. For example, if Joey was able to beat a three week champion he'd walk away with 500.00 for winning that fight. It was a quick way to earn a lot of cash even though it was totally illegal.

Hirutani gave Joey a grin, "I can always use some fresh meat in the ring. Keep things interesting. You still know how to fight or have you gone soft on the outside?" Hirutani asked.

Joey gave Hirutani a cocky grin, "Why don't ya let me worry 'bout dat." Joey replied, "So, we got a deal?" Joey asked.

Hirutani nodded, "Yeah, we got a deal. See you here tomorrow night." Hirutani said.

Joey nodded before he turned and headed back out the door and started jogging back to school. Now dat I got dat taken care of I can start tinkin bout where ta take 'zu out fer our first date.

Joey got back to campus just as the bell rang signaling that lunch was over. Joey smiled as he jogged into the building today had been a great day. He skidded to a halt just inside the doorway to see Anzu standing there with her hands resting on her beautiful hips.

"And where have you been Joey Wheeler?" Anzu asked.

Joey gave Anzu a cheeky grin, "Nowhere bad 'zu. Just had an interview fer a new job. I fergot ta tell ya bout it." Joey replied.

Anzu chuckled, "Well, if you say so Joey. I was kind of worried when you didn't turn up for lunch. You are not one to miss a meal." Anzu teased.

Joey snorted, "Dat just means I'll eat a extra portion ah ya ma's cookin' tonight." Joey replied.

This time it was Anzu who snorted before she just shook her head, "Get ta class ya big goof."

Joey grinned, "Yes Ma'am." Joey replied, complete with mock salute before he took off the door the corridor with Anzu hot on his heels.

With Atemu

Atemu made his way into the school just before his ancient history class was due to start. The plan was simple, go in do the presentation then head back home again. Hopefully in that period of time he could figure out what in the world was going on with Yami, because his brother was acting strangely. Normally he would have guessed Yami had had a nightmare or something which given everything that was going on would have been completely understandable.

Thing was Yami would have told him if he had a nightmare. Unless of course he now wants to tell Seto that stuff and he doesn't need to share it with you anymore. Atemu's mind supplied. Atemu shook the thought from his mind. He really didn't think it was Yami just not telling him about a nightmare. He also knew what Yami acted like if he'd had a nightmare or a flashback and it certainly wasn't the way Yami had behaved before he left for school.

Which made the whole thing with Yami really really strange.

Atemu forced himself to put his brother's behavior out of his mind as he made his way into the ancient history classroom. He could see the relief in Yugi's eyes when he walked through the door carrying their project.

Yugi leapt up, "Let me help you with that Atemu." Yugi said as he opened the door the rest of the way for Atemu so he could carry the stuff into the room easier.

"Thanks." Atemu grunted as he walked into the room and plopped down at his desk.

"Atemu, did I tell you how amazing this model came out? Last time I saw it you were still adding some texture details to the scales and the fur." Yugi gushed.

Atemu just shrugged. He really didn't see what the big deal was. It was a sculpture, plain and simple. Yugi fell silent and just awkwardly stood beside Atemu's desk. Atemu however ignored him as he dug the paper he'd printed out, out of his backpack and set it on the edge of his desk.

This was when the bell finally rang and the teacher stood up from her desk, "Alright class, we have a lot of presentations to get through today so we're going to jump right in. Motou, Sennen, since you're topic was on Ammut, we'll have you two start us off." The teacher called out.

Atemu and Yugi both made their way to the front of the room. Atemu shot Yugi a questioning look since he wasn't sure how Yugi wanted to do the oral presentation however Atemu saw that Yugi literally had almost a deer in the headlights look on his face. Atemu sighed to himself, looks like I'm going to have to take the lead on this part too. Atemu thought to himself.

"Yugi and I did out project on, in my opinion the best goddess in the Egyptian pantheon. Her name is Ammut. Based on the puzzled looks on many of your faces I'll guess not a lot of you have heard of the devourer. The Devourer is composed…" Atemu began the presentation.

About five minutes later he and Yugi had returned to their seats to a round of applause. Yugi looked like he wanted to sink into the floor whereas Atemu was completely ignoring the class's reaction. The teacher told everyone to settle down before the next pair was called to the front of the room.

The duo were about halfway through their presentation on the sun disk God, Aten, when there was a knock on the door. The teacher frowned before she rose from her seat in the front row where she had been grading the presentations and opened the door. "Yes?" She called out, her tone clipped.

"Atemu Sennen needs to come down to the front office. His guardian is here to pick him up." The runner said.

The teacher sighed but nodded, "Fine, Sennen get your things your guardian is here to pick you up."

Atemu picked his back and slung it over his shoulder heading out of the room. He vaguely wondered why Aknamkanon had come to pick him up since as far as dear old dad knew both him and Yami were at home for the day. Unless, of course, Yami called him and told him that Atemu had snuck off to school which was a distinct possibility.

Atemu walked to the front office and poked his head inside. The secretary nodded towards the door. "He headed out to the car Mr. Sennen." The secretary said.

Atemu shrugged before he turned and headed out the front doors and towards the black car with tinted windows waiting by the curb. Atemu got to the car, pulled open the door and quickly climbed inside before pulled the door closed behind him.

The lock clicked as the car pulled away from the curb however, Atemu was frozen in place. It wasn't Mr. Sennen sitting in the back or Yami even. Sitting less than five feet from him was the bastard who had brutalized his brother. Akunadin Kesir.

"Ah, Atemu, so good to see you again. Why don't you take a seat my boy? We have so much catching up to do." Akunadin said, giving Atemu a disgusting leer as the car sped down the street.
