My apologies for being a day late! I went to Tennessee to see my dad and other amazing family members. I got a bunch of 'Till We're Over written on the drive there, and on the drive back, I rewrote almost ALL of IBMEC, but I forgot to write anything for Forget Me? So I woke up today at eleven and did some stuff and then went "oh crap forget me"
SO NOW IT'S WRITTEN! It's short, but I would have had to describe this bit at some point.
En-juh-hoy, my be-ay-yoo-tiful Rulers! :)
Forget Me
Ch 36: How Caring!
Sky's POV
"Hey, Sky?" Seto says suddenly, interrupting a conversation Ian and I were having about my stupid approach to life.
"Hmm?" I ask, turning my head up to look in his direction.
He pushes a button on the supercomputer, and the screen goes black. My jaw drops. "Did you- holy crap, did you just freaking give up!? Dude!"
Seto grins more widely. "Actually, Sky... I finished."
"What!?"
"I fixed you." He jumps a little in excitement, and a huge smile appears on Brice's face.
"You're kidding."
He shakes his head, trying to contain his smile now. It isn't working. "I'm not. You're fixed, Sky- completely fixed. I've gotten rid of the virus, recoded everything that needed to be coded, and checked over it – twice – to make sure there weren't any mistakes." He carefully unplugs the stuff that was hooking me up to the computer. "You will never have to deal with the eternal pain again. It's gone."
"Gone," I whisper, looking down at myself. I'm free. The pain is gone, I- I'm free! I can be a good commander again for my army, and I can move without feeling like I'm about to pass out, and I can actually hug people again, and-
I can be normal again.
Not that I was ever very normal in the first place.
"I guess it wasn't really as 'eternal' as we thought it was, huh?" Ian asks, grinning almost as much as Seto.
"Guess not," I say quietly.
"All right, Ian, here's my other key. Sky, Brice and I are going to go look for Alesa to get your key back. If you'd like to come with us, that would be amazing, but we'll understand if you need to rest."
"Rest?" I ask, jumping around the room. "I feel great, better than I've felt in half of forever! Thank you so much, Seto, you're awesome!" I hug him quickly, and Brice stumbles back, shocked.
Everyone freezes for a moment.
"If you guys don't mind my asking, why are we silently panicking now?" Seto asks calmly.
Brice cheers loudly.
That, of course, gets Seto's attention, and the sorcerer turns to look at Brice – who is standing half way across the room at this point – before letting out a cheer of his own. "My life source regenerated, guys! Yes!"
After cheering for, like, at least ten more seconds, Ian interrupts us. "Uh, guys? Remember the keys?"
"Oh, right," I chuckle. "We should probably go find mine."
"That would be a good idea," Ian confirms, and I bounce a bit more before we all run out the door.
Tiffany's POV
"I need your key," I pant, almost skidding to a stop in front of Jason. "It's for the Respawn Machine."
He nods his head without missing a beat. "Here, it's in my helmet, give me a second." He flips his helmet open and fiddles with a latch on the inside, and soon he's smiling and handing over his blue and black key. "Ty is over there – yeah, we found him and got Seto's help healing him – and if you want to get his key, too, he doesn't seem all that busy at the moment."
I nod my thanks and run over to Ty, half of me wanting to hug him and tell him I'm so glad he's actually alive and the other half yelling at me to get my priorities straight. "Hi, congrats on living, give me your key," I end up blurting out. Whelp.
"Uh, the one for the Respawn Machine?" he asks, already bending down to dig around in a hidden pocket inside his shoe. "Of course, Tiffany. Here you go, be quick."
"Sure thing, Ty. Thank you so much. By the way, did you guys happen to find Sky? Is he okay? And can I have his key, as well?"
"You're so caring," Ty replies sarcastically, rolling his eyes. "But, yeah, we found him. Dropped him off at Seto's so Seto could do some coding thing on him. If all goes well..." He closes his eyes as if he's scared it won't go well at all. "If all goes well, Sky will be perfectly fine."
"Well, if he's at Seto's, Ian will have gotten his key already. Thank you Ty, and I'll be begging Notch to save Sky!" I respond, already waving and jogging away from the remains of the short battle.
"Thanks, and no problem. Be careful!"
Quentin's POV
"Seth!" I shout, trying to get his attention by jumping into the air and waving my arms back in forth. "Seth, we need your key!"
"You need my what?" he asks, flying back down from where he was scanning over the city.
"Your key! You know, for the Respawn Machine? We need your key to permanently fix it. You have to be fast getting it, though, because the battle and Ty and- we have to do this now, Seth," I explain quickly.
"Oh, don't worry, Ty looks fine to me, and the battle has pretty much ended at this point," Seth reassures me. "But you're right about needing to fix the Respawn Machine anyways. I'll be right back with my key, all right?"
He flies off and arrives back about ten minutes later. "Here you go," he says, handing me a red key.
"Thanks, Seth!" I yell over my shoulder as I run out the city gates and towards the pond where I hid my key.
Seth stops me by flying down right in my path. "Hold up, Quentin. How close is your key?"
Mind reader much? "About five minutes away, not long."
"I'll fly you, we'll have it done in two minutes, tops."
My eyes widen in fear, but he picks me up and shoots into the sky before I can make any kind of vocal protest. "S-Seth," I squeak, looking down at the city below.
"Don't worry, we're already here." He drops me straight into my pond, and I splutter a bit before huffing and diving underwater again.
It only takes me a few seconds to find the underground tree roots with the special little crevice behind them, and then I reach in, grab the key, swim to the surface, and get picked up by Seth. A minute and a half later, we're back at the Respawn Machine, and I'm over my mild fear of flying.
"Quentin!" Tiffany yells. "Did you get your keys?"
"I got them. Did you get yours?"
"You betcha."
"So now we're just waiting for Ian?"
"He's got the last keys."
"And then everything goes back to normal."
