Chapter 37: Fight Time
Normal POV
"Only just the beginning huh?" asked Randy as he clenched his hands into fists. "How many videos do you have in all?"
"Hmm . . . I got plenty, to tell you the truth," Sergei tells him with a smirk as he crossed his arms. "I spent all of last night looking through all the video my men gathered, so that I, dear Randal, can create this video montage, just for you."
"Just for me?" Randy asked with venom in his voice as Sergei began to slowly circle around the large cavernous room. "How touching."
"I'm so glad you said that," said Sergei as he placed a hand on his chest. "Conveniently enough, there is definitely more video that I want to show you."
Randy turned to the video on the wall. It switched from Alanna's third birthday party to an older clip, one that was filmed when Randy was still in high school.
"I particularly liked this clip of when you were still in school Randy. You and 'Manda were just kidding around in your living room while working on an old history project together. . . What was the project's topic again? Oh yeah . . . it was on the French Revolution, I believe." said Sergei as he nodded his head at the screen. Randy paid him little attention as he continued to stare at the video. The video currently showed the two horsing around with a handmade hat that members of the French military back in the 1700s may have worn. The Randy in the video currently was wearing the hat while Amanda took photos with her camera. Monica was in the background of the video reading a book, but occasionally she joined in the two's fun.
"Why are you showing me all these?" asked Randy as he moved his attention to Sergei, who was leaning by the wall beside the playing video.
"Well . . . I thought it would be nice for you to see a few of your old memories before you die," said Sergei with a smirk as he waved his remote around. "See . . . I can be nice."
"What would be nice is if I can just kill you right here, right now and end this once and for all," said Randy with a slight hiss as he took a step forward. "If I can do that, well . . . that would be such a blow to your ego now wouldn't it."
"Well said Randal, well said," said Sergei as he suddenly crushed the remote in his hand, breaking it into little tiny pieces. "But trust me, you will be eating your words once this is all over."
"And what are you going to do to prevent that huh?" asked Randy as he raised an eyebrow. "Use your newly acquired powers that you got from my mate? We both know that you're no good at them. You may have the power, but you don't have the experience."
"I don't need any psychic powers to beat someone like you," said Sergei as he let a smirk come across his face. "Besides, I have been able to figure out a few things over time."
Sergei outstretched his palm at Randy, which made the Viper get pushed back by some invisible force. Randy skidded a few feet before stopping back first on the cold ground, his scowl growing deeper as Sergei's smirk grew bigger.
"What were you saying about me being no good with my powers?" asked Sergei as he slowly walked over to the Viper. Randy let out a low growl before jumping to his feet, grabbing Sergei by the collar at lightning quick speed and pinning him against the stone wall.
"You're dead." Randy whispered in a cold voice as he held Sergei up, not even allowing him to let his feet touch the ground.
"You first." said Sergei, his voice equally cold as he kneed Randy in the gut. The hit got the Viper straight in the ribs, which made him lose his grip on the Regent. Sergei landed a few punches across Randy's face before kneeing him in the gut some more. After the third knee hit, Randy grabbed Sergei's leg to prevent a fourth hit from landing. He let out a loud yell as he threw Sergei with all his strength right into the wall. The Regent hit with a loud thud, the stone breaking on impact as Sergei's body crumpled to the ground. Randy grabbed Sergei by the hair before he could fully get up and drove his head face first into the stone wall basically pinning him right there.
"I am going to make you suffer." said Randy as he pulled Sergei's head back and drove it back into the wall. He tried it for the third time, but Sergei managed to put his arms out to prevent the hit. He elbowed Randy in the ribs before backhanding him in the face, his slightly sharp nails cutting Randy right on the cheek.
"Shit!" mumbled the Viper as he backed away a few feet. He brought a hand to his wounded cheek and pulled it back to see the blood dripping down from it. When he looked up at Sergei, he saw the Romanian smirking at him, as if he knew something that Randy didn't.
"Aw . . . what's wrong?" Sergei taunted as he looked at him with a pout. "Did I scratch that pretty little face of yours? Don't worry, there's more where that came from."
"I should be saying that to you. I'm still handsome compared to you." said Randy as he smirked a little as he pointed to Sergei's face, which was littered in scratches and cuts thanks to the hit to the wall he suffered.
"You won't be joking once I'm done with you." said Sergei as he outstretched the hand that he used to backhand Randy with. Randy's eyes slightly widened when he looked at the hand more closely, ones whose fingernails looked like claws. . . .
. . . Wolf-like claws.
"What the hell?" asked Randy in slight shock. "What's with your hand?"
"Oh . . . nothing," said Sergei as he waved around the hand in question. "My revitalized body just came with a few upgrades, that's all."
Upgrades huh? Randy thought to himself as he let out a slow breath. I got to watch out for any more 'upgrades' before they catch me off guard.
"Pay attention Randy."
Randy turned around as soon as he noticed that Sergei's voice came from right behind him. Sergei managed to swipe his clawed hand right across Randy's chest before the Viper could block it. Randy jumped back a couple of feet, clutching his chest as he did so. He moved his hand away to see blood covering it and he looked down to see that his claw marks marred his skin.
"You may have drawn first blood Randal, but it won't matter once I win this fight." said Sergei as his eyes began to glow bright yellow.
"What the hell . . . what's going on here?" said Randy as the voices in his head began to speak to him, just like they do in the ring.
"Hmm . . . I never realized how slow you were Randal. I guess I have to explain my upgrades to you after all," muttered Sergei as he let his fangs begin to show. "My friend Lydia enhanced my body a bit while I was still occupying your old buddy Kurt. And let me just say . . . she did a bang up job."
"What do you mean?" asked Randy as he too let his fangs begin to show.
"Lydia enhanced my body using the DNA of a few lycans, that's all," answered Sergei as he shrugged his shoulders. "And let me say this, it was one of the best decisions she's ever made for me in years."
"But that's impossible!" exclaimed Randy as he stared Sergei down. "Lycan DNA and vampire DNA can never work in the same body! It just leads to trouble!"
"But it's no trouble for me! I'm doing well if I do say so myself," said Sergei as he shrugged. "But for you . . . it's going to be a lot of trouble."
All of a sudden, the lights went out within the cave, leaving the place completely dark. Randy inwardly cursed as his vision began to adjust to the darkness. Sergei, on the other hand, let out a loud chuckle as he took another step forward.
"What's wrong Randal? Don't tell me you're afraid of the dark!" said Sergei as he began to slowly circle around the Viper.
"Hmm . . . looks like you're not going to fight fairly after all huh Sergei?" asked Randy as he followed the Romanian Regent with his eyes.
"Who said anything about me fighting fairly?" asked Sergei as he raised an eyebrow. "I said that I wanted to fight you one-on-one. If you win, you and Amanda are free to go. If I win, then Amanda is mine and you are dead. The phrase 'fighting fairly' was never mentioned in that wager."
"You piece of shit." mumbled Randy as he continued to stare the regent down.
"What do you Americans say when things don't go well for you?" asked Sergei as he put a hand underneath his chin. "Oh yeah 'Don't hate the player, hate the game'. . . Now, where were we?"
Randy went on high alert as he watched Sergei's eyes suddenly turn yellow. Sergei suddenly disappeared from his spot, to only reappear right behind Randy mere moments later. Randy managed to dodge Sergei's incoming attack and grabbed him by the arm and flung him right over to the wall. Sergei quickly jumped back up to his feet and ran straight to the Viper, swiping his claws right at Randy's face. Randy managed to dodge every single swipe before going in for a dropkick, hitting Sergei right in the face. The Regent landed on the cold, hard ground back first while Randy managed to land on his feet before his face could touch the ground.
"For a vampire who has lycan upgrades, you're not doing so well so far Sergei," said Randy as the regent began to dust himself off. "It's not too late to forfeit the match."
"Well aren't you smug . . ." mumbled Sergei as he let a small mischievous smirk come across his face. "I wonder if this next surprise will change your tune."
"Surprise?" asked Randy as raised his eyebrow for a second.
"Yes . . . why don't you look at the screen to see it for yourself?" asked Sergei as he pointed to the video that was still being displayed on screen.
"Why would I want to do that?" asked Randy as he narrowed his eyes at him.
"Trust me . . . you want to see it to believe it . . ." said Sergei as he turned to the screen. Randy grew even more suspicious after hearing that statement, but as soon as Sergei's smirk grew bigger, he couldn't help but look at the screen . . .
. . . And that's when his eyes widened in shock.
"What the fuck is this?" asked Randy in absolute disbelief as he looked at the video in horror. The screen displayed a scene that appeared to be taped just recently and Randy couldn't help but recognize the background . . . The background was the same hotel room where he and Monica found 'Manda chained up and wounded mere weeks ago. . . . And speaking of 'Manda . . .
"You like it?" asked Sergei, just as Amanda finally appeared onscreen. She was still chained up within the room, but she looked unconscious as her head lolled to the side. One single pair of bite wounds dotted her neck, which instantly told Randy that the video was taken just before the onslaught of bites was to come upon her. "I made it with you in mind."
"What is this?" Randy asked in absolute shock as he couldn't move his eyes away from the screen. "You actually videotaped this?"
"Yep; the thought occurred to me as I was feeding on Amanda for the first time," explained Sergei as he shrugged his shoulders. "As I was drinking up her blood, a thought just appeared in my head. . . So I figured, why don't I just videotape this to show Amanda's soul mate. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of this."
As he said that, Sergei walked on screen, signaling that he wasn't the one manning the camera. The Sergei on screen sent a smile towards the camera before walking over to Amanda. He picked her head up by the chin. He turned to the camera one last time to show off his big fat smile before turning back toward the camera. His fangs lengthened to their full size before he plunged them deep into Amanda's neck. Amanda's eyes widened on impact as she let out a scream, one Randy, thankfully, couldn't hear thanks to the video not having any sound.
"You must feel so mad at yourself . . ." said Sergei as the two continued to watch the screen. "You weren't there to protect her . . . you weren't there to stop me . . . This must be really hard for you to swallow huh?"
"Like I'm going to let this get to me . . ." said Randy as he clenched his teeth.
"But Randy . . . it already is getting to you," said Sergei as he pointed to the Viper. "I can hear the anger in your tone . . . you've clenched your teeth . . . it's only a moment of time before you start trembling in anger . . . I can feel it."
"You've got me all wrong . . ." said Rand as he managed to let a smirk come across his face, which caught the regent a little off-guard. "What you're doing . . . yeah, it pisses me off . . . but it's better for me if I let my anger out on someone else instead of letting it harm myself . . . and trust me, I got someone in mind when it comes to letting my anger out."
"Such big words Randal . . . I applaud you for the performance," said Sergei as he clapped his hands a few times. "But this is getting old. You're a ticking, anger-filled, time bomb and we both know it. We both know what time bombs do . . . they implode on themselves and so will you. You yourself, will be your downfall."
"Keep talking like that Sergei, but we both know how this is going to end." said Randy as he narrowed his eyes at him.
"Oh . . . I do," said Sergei as he cracked his knuckles. "It's time I get serious . . . so Randy, don't be surprised when I go even faster okay?
Even faster? Randy thought to himself, just as Sergei connected his fist with his face. The attack was so fast that Randy couldn't follow it with his eyes. The impact sent Randy crashing right into the wall where the video was showing. Randy didn't disrupt the ongoing video, but he did manage to break the wall with his back, the impact snapping a few of his ribs in the process.
"I hope you weren't surprised by that . . ." said Sergei as he flexed out his fist while Randy coughed up some blood. "I did give you a warning after all."
"Fuck . . . you . . ." said Randy as he spat out a wad of blood, his injured ribs nagging him every time he took in a deep breath.
"Oh . . . that's something that you don't want to say to me right now . . ." said Sergei as he walked over to him. He disappeared from sight for a split second before reappearing right by Randy's head. Randy had enough time to raise his arms up to block Sergei from actually kicking him in the head, but the impact made by the blow was enough to crack the bones inside, making Randy yell out a loud scream as a result.
"Nice save . . . but you have momentarily lost the ability to use your arms. I hope you were not planning to RKO me right to the ground, because that is now officially out of the question." said Sergei as he let out a small chuckle, just before stomping right on Randy's right knee, breaking it upon impact "You're just easy picking now."
Randy inwardly cursed when he realized that Sergei was right. Even though he was known to be a fast healer, his arms and leg were of no use to him at the moment. Hell, he had a feeling that Sergei wasn't going to allow him the time needed for his limbs to heal. . . . Randy was basically a sitting duck, which Sergei conveniently knew as well.
"This is going to be fun . . ." said Sergei as his sadistic smirk came across his face. "This is going to be very fun indeed."
Amanda's POV; a few hours later
"Are you okay Amanda?"
I turn to Alina, who looks at me with sincere concern as I continue to pace around the room. It was already midafternoon and there has been no word on the results of Randy's fight. I'm usually a patient person, but my anxiety has gotten the better of me, so right now I am stressing over if Randy is okay or not.
"I'm fine Alina. Don't you worry about me." I say as I let out a deep breath. "I'm just not used to waiting and for this long, that's all."
"I see . . ." she tells me just as a low knocking sound came from the door. "Who is it?"
"It's me Alina; let me in," calls Oleg from behind the door. Alina quickly makes her way toward the door and opened it to reveal the vampire, a tired expression coming across his face as he took a step into the room.
"Miss Anaconda, would you please follow me. I'll take you to your mate now." he tells me bluntly as he stepped back out of the room.
If he's taking me to Randy, then that means he must have won after all. I say as I try to keep the smirk off my face. I sent Alina one last glance before following Oleg out of the room. He keeps his stare straight ahead as he leads me down a series of hallways and down a staircase to a room closed up by a pair of ornate doors. I recognized the doors instantly. It led to the room where we encountered Sergei for the first time since his lackeys brought us here.
"Just step right in and you'll be with your boy toy once again." he tells me as he gestures to the door. He then turns to leave, but I soon notice the small smirk that comes across his face before he leaves, which sends me straight into high alert.
"I don't like this feeling I'm getting . . ." I mumble to myself as I grab hold of the doorknob. "Randy, you better be okay."
I take in a deep breath before opening the door. I step into the room to see only one man standing within the room . . . It was the man that I did not want to see.
"Why . . . hello there, my dear sweet Anaconda," says Sergei as he looks at me with a grin. "I'm sorry I've kept you waiting.
"No . . ." I whisper in absolute horror as I felt my eyes go wide. "No . . . it can't be."
"But it is," he tells me with a chuckle, that smug face of it marred by cuts and scratches he must have gotten from the battle. "I have won, and your dear Randy has lost."
"I don't believe you!" I suddenly exclaim as I shake my head. "What have you done with him?"
"Well . . . I certainly haven't killed him . . . yet," he tells me with a shrug. "Matter of fact . . . why don't you turn around to see him for yourself?"
I grit my teeth just as I hear the door behind me open up. I turn around and soon enough, all the anger that I felt for Sergei makes way for shock, disbelief, and worry as I watch the three men walk into the room. Randy's bodyguards drag the limp Viper into the room, his body covered in blood, cuts, and bruises that he suffered from his battle. The bodyguards then have the audacity of flinging Randy right to the ground as if he was just a sack of potatoes.
"RANDY!" I yell as I run over to his fallen form. "Randy, please speak to me!"
I hit his cheek with a few gentle slaps in order to get a response from him. He does nothing at first, but then he eventually lets out a soft moan, signaling that he was indeed alive, much to my relief.
"Well . . . at least I know that you're still in there." I say with a sigh as I hear Sergei's footsteps come closer to me.
"Yes . . . but not for long . . ." I hear Sergei say behind me, that smirk of his easily detectable in his tone. "But you, my dear, can change all that."
"Change all that?" I ask as I continue to look at Randy, whose face easily showed the pain that he was feeling right now. "You're trying to make a deal with me?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I want to do." says Sergei. "You are a very perceptive person aren't you?"
"Like I would ever make a deal with you," I say with so much spite in my voice that I almost thought I had actually venom within me. "Whatever deal you have in mind, you can just keep it to yourself. I'm not interested."
"Bad idea" says Sergei as he whispers it in my ear. "I guess you don't want Randy to live after all."
"YOU BASTARD!" I exclaim as I try to make an ill-advised slap to his face, but he manages to stop my hand before it can make contact with his cheek. "LET ME GO!"
"Not until you hear me out first," he tells me with that cocky grin of his as he tightens his hold on my wrist. "All you need to do to spare Randy from death is to join me . . . that is all I'm asking from you."
"Join you? Are you sick in the head?" I ask in disbelief as I try to pull out of his iron tight grip. "Do you really believe after everything you put me and Randy through that I would join you just like that? You've got to be kidding me! I will never join you!"
"Hmm . . . very well then," says Sergei as his glare became dark. "I gave you a chance to join me willingly Amanda, but I guess asking you just won't work. Since you won't join me willingly, I guess I just have to take you by force after all."
The sound of shuffling footsteps behind me instantly grabs my attention and I turn around to see the bodyguards picking Randy up by his arms, smirks coming across their faces as they shot each other a looks.
"Take Randy far away from here and end him . . . permanently," orders Sergei as the guards start dragging Randy away. "Me and the Anaconda here have other things to attend to."
"Like what dammit!" I ask with a scowl as I continue my meager attempt to get out of his grip, but that only makes him wrap his other arm around my waist in response. "Let me go!"
"Not in a million years, my sweet," says Sergei as I felt his hand come upon the back of my neck. "Not in a million years,"
One swift hit to the neck later . . . and everything went black.
