Chapter XXXVI: Soul of the Duelist Part 2 – Allure of Darkness

Opening Theme Song Plays – 99 Percent –

The Virus Busters step in through the gates of the cloudy skies, seeing various Light based and Fairy spirits flying around. A Goddess of Whim flies by winking at them, causing male faces save for one to go red.

The fourteen humans and Mythran are soon approached by the Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit. "You humans are expected. This way." The dragon leads them far off to a section of the sky world, where other avian beasts reign the air.

Tefnuit lands atop a cloud cliff, where other dragons gather. Soon, the Hieratic Dragon King Atum descends. Mythran stands between the Virus Busters and the king, saying, "Atum."

"Mythran, how interesting to see you." Atum looks down upon the humans. "Are these the remaining humans who wish to take on the new rulers of Amne?"

"That is true."

"What?" The Psychic steps back in shock. "Why me?"

"In the world of light, our laws are absolute; we have the right to deny all dark ones," she answers, before her staff shines brightly. Darkness illuminates off of her in response. "You would be best to cast her out."

Takeshi stands before Alexianna immediately. "No! Alexianna is one of us!" She smiles at him for his response. The others join his side agreeing with him.

"You accept her, along with her sins?" Celestia's words bring a confused look to Alexianna's face, along with the others. However, she notes something from Takeshi's expression. "Ara, so you know what I'm talking about. Tell them the truth, Odin."

They all now turn to Takeshi, who looks away almost guiltily. "Takeshi, what does she mean?"

"How about I reveal it for you?" With her impaling her staff into the cloud made earth, a light reflects from the gem and fully reveals her darkness. Said lack of light shines suddenly, taking the form of a black winged angel. "You may be able to fool your friends, but we Lightsworns can see the sins in the hearts of others."

Alexianna backs away. "What sins? I haven't done anything-"

"Patricide is a serious crime, and having someone else take the blame for it..." Takeshi's eyelids drop as hers flood with confusion and fear.

"N-No! That's not true! My parents died when I was young! I was..." The Psychic duelist looks down thinking of her past. Though she knows of their deaths, that's it. The rest is blank. "I can't remember. I don't remember much about it."

Malinda looks over at Celestia judgmentally. "Are you talking about her powers?"

"So, it seems you don't remember. Then you will be put on trial to reveal your true nature." She raises her staff, summoning Egyptian scales behind Alexianna. "The Feather of Ma'at will unveil the depths of your sins."

From the Darklord user a feather flies out, entering the left scale. The empty slot falls quickly, while the feather itself turns blacker than dirty tires. This surprises everyone who sees it. "What?"

Alexianna's dark aura takes over her body, forming the outline of the fallen angel as before. "Get back! All of you!" A powerful wave repels all from her, including the scales and Mythran.

"Lexi!" Takeshi shouts before going to her. "You have to gain control! You'll lose yourself again!"

Alexianna grabs his collar, speaking, "Stay out of this boy."

"Eh?" She pushes him aside and takes flight, entering the sanctuary within the skies. Takeshi watches as she leaves, before running after her. "Alexianna..."

"Takeshi, what are you doing?" Malinda questions. "She's flying; you'll never catch up with her."

Celestia flaps her wings before releasing a beacon, which sends a reverberating sound throughout the heavenly society. "Red alert! Red alert! A power similar to the Fallen Ones threatens our land!"

"Fallen Ones?" Kouji looks to the others. "Like Marie and that nurse?"

"No, she means like the Darklords," says Mythran.

"So she uses Darklords, big deal," Rex states. "It's not like she's just as evil."

"I don't think it's a coincidence…" Takeshi says before looking to the others. "Aki-san was right all along."

"Huh?" Chase speaks out now. "What'd she say?"

The Plant user sighs. "Aki-san told me that she developed her psychic powers at an early age like herself and that White Moon girl Luna. But when she did she was unaware of it or even the scale of power it produces. According to her, when these powers manifested they killed her parents."

The news of this shocks the humans before them, including Malinda. "Whoa… She was always like that?"

"She's completely unaware of this, but someone must have seen her otherwise this'd have never gotten out." Takeshi takes out a card and summons Clear Wing. "Chase, you and I will go after her."

"Why me?"

"Because we may have to duel her incase she loses it again, and I don't want to take any chance." Shrugging at his logic, Chase climbs aboard the dragon and they take off.

With Alexianna, she flies further throughout the heavenly landscape. Her eyes stop upon something of interest far removed from the rest of society, a ruined altar. She makes her way towards the abandoned altar, noting Light monsters already on her tail. She makes her landing and removes her deck, raising it up high.

The darkness around her enters the cards, causing the cloudy terrain to shake. The altar begins to reform, reaching to the tallest of heights and unleashing a powerful dark pulse. Alexianna glides along the steps up to the top of the altar, grinning ear to ear as her teeth bare. Once at the highest point, she places the deck on the podium. Dark energy vibrate from her cards, tearing apart and reforming into new cards.

Her aura rises up in the form of six wings, including a red halo over her head. "Thanks for the help little girl. Now we can leave for better things."

She turns around to see an army of Lightsworns ready to attack her. "Foolish Lightsworn. You think you can destroy me? I already have a suitable host to use, groomed since she was a little girl."

Alexianna raises her hand, and unleashes a wave to blow away Wulf and Celestia. "Time for revenge."

"Lexi!" She looks up at the approaching Clear Wing. Takeshi calls out, "You gotta stop!"

"Ah, Odin is it?" Alexianna approaches Takeshi as his dragon lands by the alter. The Rune eye wielder steps towards her, though she smirks.

"Who are you?"

"If you want her back, you can have her. Do your best to protect her, as she's my precious partner." Her eyes return to normal before she falls in his arms.

"Lexi..."

Chase looks around as Takeshi holds her. The Lightsworn Paladin Jain steps forward pointing her blade to them. She tells them, "You're coming with us, both of you."

…

Madas opens his eyes to stare down at the world below. "… Uh oh." Yes. He's freefalling too.

Taking out a card, he summons Galaxy Knight and together glide down to the world. Looking down he sees the Naturia Forest as the target of his descent. "Galaxy Knight, take us down."

With a nod, his monster leads him into the forest where he dismounts his monster. "Let's see… I need to find the others… BUT WHERE ARE THEY?!" His little scream gets everyone's attention.

The creatures soon gather towards him. Madas ignores them as he draws out his ace monster. "Let's get going, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon!"

Alexianna awakens looking at her surroundings. As the vision clears, she sees herself wrapped up tightly in a rope of light to a silvery white pedestal. She sees her friends with the Lightsworn, keeping their attention to her. "What? What's going on?"

"Lexi, just stay there. They want to execute you." Takeshi comes before her as she begins to panic. "Don't worry; we won't let them."

"Takeshi, what's going on?!"

Celestia steps forward, saying, "Alexianna LeRouge, you are hereby under arrest for setting free a former Horseman of the Apocalypse, the Darklord Lucifer, and having possession of his steed."

"The what?"

"Alexianna, they told us while you were asleep," says Anna looking away from her eyes. "Remember when Milla told us there were eight?"

"… Yeah?" She gets it, but is starting to wish it doesn't apply to her.

"One of the other four was the fallen angel Lucifer, a Darklord who resides in your deck," Malinda continues from where Anna left off. "All of the Horsemen have Dragon monsters as their steeds, and Lucifer's was Starve Venom Fusion Dragon. After checking your deck..." Takeshi holds up her cards, revealing both the Darklord Lucifer and Starve Venom in her Main and Extra Decks.

"What? But, I've never had that card before!" Alexianna begins hyperventilating upon seeing those cards, her pupils dilating. It's as if something's crushing her heart the further she looks at it. "Wait, I remember..." She begins to violently sweat. "That card… Venominon..."

"Venominon?" Takeshi asks, turning to the others.

"That was when we were in the Venom Swamp, and Malinda and Rex were poisoned," Claire tells him.

"As you have been proven guilty of having a connection, you will now be executed to have the Darklord contained." Atum holds his left index finger up, charging a beam of light. "I thank you for your actions in fighting Amne and the Four Horsemen, but you are too dangerous to let live."

"Wait, don't!" Everyone shouts, though the dragon king remains unconvinced.

Takeshi stands in between the two. "Atum, what if Alexianna controls her power?"

This actually makes him pause. "Pardon?"

"Lucifer is one of the Horsemen right? Then if he is why didn't he try to control her and escape? He just wanted her to set him free, meaning he has no means of going to the other Horsemen. Otherwise, he would flee right away with her."

"Lucifer is pretty crafty. You cannot fall for his falsities," Atum tells him via a strict warning. "As if a Psychic Duelist who killed her own parents could contain his powers."

"I… What?" This hits her hard. She couldn't have done such a horrible thing. "No, that's not true!"

Takeshi turns to her. "Alexianna, it's true. That's why Jean was arrested," he continues, causing her to shake. "Aki-san told me the truth she and Julia were hiding; when you first awoke your powers you killed your parents and caused the fire. You weren't conscious at the time, so she surmised that you were completely unaware. Your brother knew and took the fall when the truth was uncovered, lying to you so you wouldn't find out."

The Darklord user begins to break down, tears freely falling from her eyes. "No… No! NO!" Takeshi grabs the light rope and unties it, using his Rune Eyes to grant him the power to do so, and holds her just as she falls. "I… I'm sorry, Jean! I'm so sorry!"

Atum raises his finger again ready to fire once more. "Do you still believe she can do it?"

"Yes, I do." His eyes never leave her as he speaks.

Atum storms before him, aiming his eyes upon Alexianna. "Then let's see. If she can defeat me while remaining in full control, then I'll allow her passage."

"She's not in any position to-" Alexianna raises her head looking at him. "Lexi?"

"I was wondering what was wrong with me… I've always had these violent thoughts in my head, and I was afraid I was turning into a monster." She holds her mouth. "When I was always a monster from the start..."

Takeshi opens his mouth to say something, but she cuts him off asking, "Do you really think there's hope for me? That I deserve to live?"

This puts him off. She knows for a fact that he's been rather suicidal and uncaring of his own life. He doesn't value his life, so there's no way he can answer honestly and through her perspective. Though, that was before. Now, things have changed. For some reason, ever since coming to this world and returning, he wants to see his future as Ishihara Takeshi. And hers.

He can actually give her a real answer: "We all do."

She looks at him, renewed and hopeful. Takeshi helps her stand. "Lexi-"

"Then, I can atleast try." She makes a tight grip before turning on her Duel Disk. Taking in his words, she feels like she must answer his words. Even though she did what she was told, and feels horrible, and wishes to process those feelings further, she can't. Otherwise, she'll be abandoning her friends who need her.

'But, can I really concentrate on this duel?' Atum activates his duel disk as he awaits her, the girl still in her thoughts.

Atum: 8000

Alexianna: 8000

"I'll begin if you will." Atum takes a card from his hand before revealing it. "I play Hieratic Seal of Convocation." Atum then extracts a card to reveal it. "I'll add the Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit to my hand, before activating Pre-Preparation of Rites."

He reveals his spell, before going into his deck again. "By adding one Ritual Spell to my hand, I can also add the Ritual Monster in its text." He reveals Hymn of Light and Saffira, Queen of Dragons.

"Huh… Ritual cards huh?" Chase mutters seeing that. "Meaning he'll tribute his monsters to get a better use of its effect."

"I activate Hymn of Light, tributing from my hand the level 6 Hieratic Dragon Su." His monster card appears from the hand, and turns into several lights. A church appears within the landscape. "With all six tributes fulfilled I can achieve the summoning." A sapphire goddess of a dragon appears within the veil of the church, unleashing a sacred howl blessing the field with her presence. "Bless the world with your knowledge and heart, queen of the rulers of heaven! Ritual Summon - Dragon Princess Deity, Saffira!"

Saffira: 2500/2400 (6)

"Saffira..." Rex says. "It's not often you see Ritual Monsters."

The group then notice an egg shell with hieroglyphs dashed all over it. "Because I tributed my Hieratic, I can special summon a Normal monster with its attack and defense cut to zero." The egg hatches, and out crawls a hunched dragon. Its many scales reflect like the moon off water.

Labradorite Dragon: 0/0 (6) Tuner

"I overlay my two level 6 monsters, constructing the Overlay Network with two Dragon-Type monsters!" The dragons fly upward, entering the dimension. "The heavens shine to the creator, the world bows to the ruler of Heliopolis. Let all bow to your greatness as the Pharaoh Dragon - Xyz Summon!"

From the overlay network, the Hieratic Seal of the Dragon King descends. It shines as bright as the sun. It unfolds and transforms, in a way not unlike the God Ra, until the figure is fully revealed. As a cobalt dragon adorn in golden armor. The summoner looks at his copy with a grin. "The Hieratic Dragon King, Atum!"

Atum: 2400/2100 -6-

"I'll activate my effect; by removing one Overlay Unit I can special summon one Dragon from my deck with its attack and defense reduced to 0." Atum absorbs its unit, before summoning a hieroglyphic egg. "Come out, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon!"

From within the egg, the metallic form of the Darkness Dragon appears to the field. It unleashes a blazing roar before settling in defense mode.

Darkness Metal: 0/0 (10)

"I then set one card and activate Saffira's effect." The sapphire dragon holds her hand up unleashing a bright light. "Her effect activates during the end phase, allowing me when I summon her or send a Light monster to the graveyard to send one card in your hand to the graveyard."

Alexianna holds her hand up, though as she does she takes a clear look at her cards. 'Wait, what's with these cards? I don't remember having this, or this one!'

"The second card to the left." The Darklord user takes the trap card and ditches it to the grave. "Turn end. Now, let's see how you control this power."

Alexianna draws, before looking at it. She takes a moment to read the card, before an idea hits her. "I activate the effect of the Darklord Ixtab in my hand!"

"Who?" Takeshi says, confused as he's never seen this card of hers in use before.

"By discarding her and one Darklord card in my hand, I can draw two cards." She sends her monster and another monster to the graveyard. She steadily draws her two cards before revealing one. "I activate Trade-In, sending the Darklord Zerato to the graveyard to draw two cards."

She draws her cards before revealing another. "Time for action; I activate Altar of the Darklords."

The titular altar she visited appears up above, as dark feathers plague the field. "The effect of this spell special summons a Darklord in Defense mode from my graveyard." From the altar descends a familiar monster, a fallen angel ith a black bird-like body shaped as a chalice. "Darklord Superbia!"

Superbia: 2900/2400 (8)

"When special summoned from the graveyard, Superbia special summons a Fairy from the grave." From within the fallen angel rises a Darklord neither of the audience recognizes. "The Darklord Ixtab."

Her newest Darklord is a purple haired voluptuous angel dressed in an ancient toga colored black and white. Her six black wings flap as she descends, with a red spiked halo over her head.

Itxab: 2500/2900 (10)

"Who the hell is that?" asks Claire in shock.

"She really has gotten new Darklords from that place," says Takeshi seeing her cards.

"I then play Advance Draw, sending Superbia to the grave to draw two more times." Her chalice angel disappears, allowing her two cards. "Time to use Ixtab's effect; by paying 1000 lifepoints, Ixtab can activate a Darklord Spell or Trap card's effect from my graveyard, and it is shuffled into my deck." Ixtab smirks before holding her hand, summoning the Altar. "By shuffling back Altar of the Darklords I special summon Superbia from the grave again."

Alexianna: 7000

Superbia revives once more, before another being rises from its chalice. This one is the dual horned fallen angel of red bat-like wings who wields the silver blade. "Zerato!"

Zerato: 2800/2300 (8)

'Now, finish it up.'

'Right.' "And now, I activate the effect of the Darklord Mastema in my hand; by discarding two other Darklord cards I can special summon it to the field." She reveals Marie the Fallen One and Asmodeus and discards them, before summoning a new monster; this beast is a white beast man hybrid of a fallen angel with white wings, wild hair and twin blanc horns. Its red halo forms as it descends.

Mastema: 2600/2600 (7)

"Mastema can also pay lifepoints to activate Darklord cards." The beast angel holds his hand out to summon a blade of light. "I'll activate Darklords Fallen From Grace, which allows me to destroy any card on the field. Like that facedown." Mastema throws the blade at his facedown, revealed to be a trap card called Drowning Mirror Force.

"What?!" Atum has remained silent for a while watching her play, but her actions are rather surprising. She's actually doing well, as if she's not losing control at all.

"Now to finish this up; I activate Polymerization!" This shocks everyone the most. Alexianna as they remember used a Synchro strategy with her main deck beaters, but adding Fusion to her deck ruins the focus of her cards. Unless they've altered more than she thought. "This spell will fuse Superbia and Mastema together! Fallen Angel of Pride, become one with the dark angel of trials to start the rebellion! Bring forth the terrorizing hunger from hell that lies beneath your black feathers; Fusion Summon!"

Alexianna clasps her hands together as she fuses them. "Come forth, the poisonous fanged steed of the new Satan - Level Eight, Starve Venom Fusion Dragon!"

SVFD: 2800/2000 (8)

"What..."

"We're just as clueless as you," says Kai.

"This croc toxique gains the attack power of one monster you control." The poisonous dragon gathers the powers of Saffira, bringing its power to 5300.

"And finally, Zerato destroys all your monsters by discarding a DARK monster." Alexianna reveals a strange, plant looking monster, before ditching it to the grave. Zerato absorbs its power and obliterates Atum's entire field. "Battle."

"W-no! NO! This is not supposed to happen!" Zerato flies in slashing Atum. Ixtab charges an arrow and fires clear cut at his skull. Atum drops to his knees feeling the pain pile up, before seeing Starve Venom over top of him. It swings its tail, lopping off most of his golden armor.

Atum: 0000

Alexianna's monsters fade away, before she makes her way to Atum. The Lightsworn around them watch with eyes ridden with shock. They're even more surprised when she holds a hand to the dragon.

"Wow," says Chase. "She's so much stronger now."

"Yeah, but at what cost?" Takeshi's Rune Eye activates, letting him see an afterimage of Alexianna surrounded by Lucifer and Ixtab.
