Chapter 35
As the next morning arrived Freddie told Annalease to head to school as normal and she would be given her surprise later on, he had ordered her tickets to go and watch Wicked at the Empire theatre in Liverpool, the show wouldn't start till 7:30pm so he thought it was best for her to go to school, Freddie realised that the Hollyoaks Music Festival was due to start and Annalease would probably want to check that out during her lunch break. Just as Annalease was due to leave Sandy came home with Rick in tow, Brad wouldn't be welcome in the house so he was else where which made her wonder.
"Mum! It's so good to see you home!" Ziggy beamed as he pulled his mum into a hug, Joe followed Ziggy into the room, he called Robbie and Jason downstairs. Joe saw red as Rick came into view.
"What is he doing in our house! I thought Fred warned him away yesterday" Joe fumed, he shot Rick a dirty look and pulled his mum into a quick embrace.
"Just hear him out please" Jason added, he was always the one to give Rick as many chances as can be despite all he had put the family through.
"Thank you son" Rick smiled.
"You've got 10 minuets and I want you out!" Joe finally gave in.
"There's something I need to discuss with you all, can somebody phone Freddie and tell him to come home" Sandy announced, relying on one of her children so they could possibly give him a call.
Annalease knew that Freddie already knew what Sandy wanted to say but she needed to pretend that she and him were clueless. Joe gave Sandy a confused look.
"Is everything okay Mum?" he asked as he slipped his phone out of his pocket.
"Yes, I just want to discuss something with you all here" she said with a smile.
"There's no answer, I'll try him again in a few minuets" Joe announced, the others looked around at each other they knew that this was unusual as Freddie always answered his phone.
"I spoke to him this morning he didn't say anything about where he was going, he has a surprise for me tonight. I've got to go to school first before I'm allowed to find out what it is" Annalease announced, Sandy decided to try phoning her son but he didn't pick up a 2nd time.
"I'm sure he'll come home later he's probably stopped over at some bird's house or summin" Robbie chucked.
"Yeah you're right, I'll just get on with telling you lot then" she sighed, half disappointed that her 2nd eldest was nowhere in sight.
"Sorry mum but do you mind if I head off to school?" Annalease asked, Sandy smiled.
"Yes darling of course, I'll meet you later on have a good day sweetheart" she said, kissing her daughter on the head.
"Thanks Mum! I'll see you all later" Annalease waved at everyone as she made her way to school.
As she entered the school gates she had a pang of worry in the pit of her stomach, she really didn't know how well the others would take the news, she was worried for her mum and her dad too.
"Hey how's your mum?" Cleo asked as she headed for the seating area in the school yard.
"She's home now thanks, she and my dad are on about moving to Spain though" Annalease added.
"Seriously? Are you going with them?" Cleo asked, looking excited for her.
"No, my life is here. There's a small problem though, the guy I have fallen in love with is also going with them and if I stay here I can't be in a relationship with him" Annalease looked down at the floor.
"What?! Who? since when has my best friend fallen in love?" Cleo said in mock annoyance.
"Please promise that you won't breathe a word, nobody aside from Freddie knows about this"Annealse looked like she was going to burst into tears.
"I promise" Cleo smiled.
Just as Annalease was about to speak the bell for registration rung.
"I'm sorry Cleo I'll have to tell you later, I don't want anyone else finding out" she said, as she got up off the bench she was sitting on.
"Don't worry Lease the whole family knows you've fallen in love with Brad Goldsworth" Robbie shouted as he walked past his sister and entered the school, Annalease was filled with anger why would he do this to her. People within the playground began to scowl at her, Brad was bad news and most of the school knew this. Annalease stormed off into the school.
"Annalease wait up! It's okay" "Shut up all of you! Get on with your immature lives" Cleo shouted sticking up for her friend.
Robbie stormed off into the toilets, he was annoyed with himself. He was angry at the prospect of his mum and dad leaving the country without him and he was scared for his sister, he knew Brad was dangerous and he didn't want any harm to come her way, he punched the mirror in the far end of the room, shattering it into tiny pieces. As his hand started to bleed he started to calm down a little.
Annalease headed for her registration room she wanted to forget about what had just happened, as she entered the room Mr Blake was standing by the white board giving class 14R1 a speech of some sort.
"And what time do you call this Annalease?" Patrick said smugly as she made her way to her and Cleo's desk where they always sat together.
"I'm sorry sir, I was at the hospital with my mum till the early hours of this morning" Annalease announced. Sniggers filled the room as it appeared that class clowns Harry and Zach had said something at her expense.
"Quieten down please!" Patrick fumed, the class soon became quiet.
"Very well Annalease please don't make lateness a new habit, take a seat please" he smiled warmly.
She sat herself beside Cleo, she gave her a reassuring smile.
By the time lunch time arrived, Cleo and Annalease were adamant that they would see at least 2 bands perform at the music festival that was happening in the village.
"I'm so excited for this hour of my life, nothing beats watching a band live" Cleo said with excitement in her voice.
"I really hope we're able to get a good spot at the front, I didn't wear my "I'm with the band" top for nothing" Annalease smiled, Cleo laughed. As the girls made their way to the dog where the festival was taking place, they bumped into a tired looking Freddie it seemed he had been running from something or someone.
"Freddie are you okay?" Annalease asked as he was catching his breath outside the loft, he was propped up against an empty barrel.
"Oh hey sis, yeah! I'm fine thanks. How about yourself?" he asked as he put his arm over her shoulder.
"Not bad thanks, our super annoying little brother decided to publicly humiliate me in front of the whole school but apart from that I'm fine."Annalease sighed, she was still so annoyed at Robbie.
"When isn't he causing trouble, don't let him get to ya" Freddie said reassuringly, instantly knowing who she was referring to.
"Me and Cleo are off to watch a few bands down by the dog, do you wanna join us?" Annalease asked, Freddie knew that if he went with the girls he would be putting them in danger.
"No you're all right thanks, you go on and have a great time" Freddie smiled, before Annalease had a chance to say anything more the sounds of bumping music came from the area the girls were heading.
"Catch you later Fred!" Annalease beamed as Cleo grabbed her hand they ran for the stage.
As they neared the stage Annalease and Cleo were so happy, they found themselves a good spot and were in for a great 45 minuets of live music.
Robbie was in the area looking for Annalease, he was soon to be taken by the police to serve his 7 month prison sentence he wanted to say a proper goodbye. He pushed through the crowds in hope of finding her, time wasn't on his side so he needed to get to her quickly.
"Annalease" Robbie called when she came into view, she turned around in hope of finding out where his voice came from, she saw him standing by the railings near the house boat that Holly and her family had recently moved into.
"What do you want!" she fumed, Cleo shook her head at Robbie.
"Give me just 5 minuets please" he had visible tears in his eyes, Annalease reluctantly approached him.
"I won't be a minuet Cle" she said as she walked away from her best friend.
"Take as long as you need I'll be right here" Cleo smiled.
"I don't have long so please hear me out" Robbie pleaded, Annalease didn't feel like giving him a chance but out of good will she was prepared to let him talk.
"Before you utter one more word about your lousy self you're going to tell me why you publicly humiliated me like you did this morning!" she retorted, demanding the truth. Robbie sighed.
"Look I'm sorry alright, I didn't mean to lash out like I did I was upset. With mum and dad leaving it just got to me that's all, Brad is bad news and I don't want you to have anything to do with him" he said softly, Annalease hadn't seen her brother look like this in a while.
"You do realise that people won't let this slip? I understand that you're upset about mum and dad but it still didn't give you the right to do it. You're bad news but that doesn't mean I don't care about you. Just think if it wasn't for you messing up and getting us evicted from our old house all those years go we wouldn't be here today!" Annalease was getting angrier as the seconds rolled on.
"What more do you want me to say! I'm sorry" he repeated himself in hope that he would get through to her.
"I'm never going to forgive you, but that doesn't mean I don't love you. See you soon I'm going back to school" Annalease walked away, unknown to her Robbie would be behind bars when she got home.
"Annalease wait!" Robbie called after her as she walked back over to Cleo so they could go back to school.
"I'm going to be late for class, I'll see you later" she said, speeding up her walk.
"I'm leaving with mum and dad" Robbie announced, he was going to run away from the police, if he got himself out of town by the end of the day he would be long gone and the police would be unable to find him.
"Maybe that would be for the best!" she said in response, deep down she knew she would miss him but she didn't want to admit that.
"Please don't tell anybody where I've gone, it's the only way I can get away from the coppers" he announced, looking over his shoulder with a nervous glare just in case somebody heard.
"You mean you're going to run away?" Annaleased gasped, she couldn't believe her ears.
"Yes, mum and dad are all ready at the airport they told me to get there for 5" he announced, Annalease felt a little hurt that Sandy hadn't said goodbye but the quicker they got Robbie out of the country the better. Quickly coming round to the idea she wanted to offer any help she could give.
"Is there anything you want me to do?" she asked, gradually softening her mood.
"Fred's taking me to the airport you can come along if you want? Say a proper goodbye to us at the airport and all that" he said with a smile.
"Yeah I'm up for that, is that why Fred was running earlier?" she asked.
"Something like that yeah" Robbie informed her, there was more to it but Robbie didn't want to give her any clues.
"I'll see you later on" Annalease gave Robbie a warm smile.
"Alright!" Robbie was happy that he had sort of made up with her.
When Annalease got home, Robbie and Freddie were ready to leave for the airport. Jason, Ziggy and Joe weren't in so Freddie told Annalease to get herself ready before they came home as Robbie didn't want anyone else to know just yet what was happening.
"Right Rob! Good to go?" Freddie asked.
"Yep! What am I letting myself in for hey?" he said as he shook his head.
"You'll be okay once you get yourself settled" Annalease added.
"I hope so, thanks so much for this" he smiled at his sister as the three siblings left the house.
Freddie figured that driving through country roads to get to the airport would be a good idea as at this hour of the day they were usually pretty quiet.
"Oh my god these roads are making me feel so ill" Annalease announced as Freddie drove down an extremely bendy lane.
"Do you want me to pull over for a little bit? Just until you feel better" Freddie asked, Robbie tensed up a little.
"Do you mind? I'm sorry" she tilted her head back and closed her eyes in hope of feeling a little better.
"No of course not, take a sip of this" Freddie handed her an unopened bottle of water.
"Thanks" she said as she grabbed the bottle and began to drink from it.
Within 20 minutes the car was back on the road, Annalease was having a look out of the window when she was startled suddenly by a blue flashing light.
"FREDDIE I THINK THE POLICE ARE FOLLOWING US" she shouted.
"If it wasn't for little miss perfect in the back there we would have been long gone" Robbie sighed.
"Don't blame her, you ought to be grateful we're agreeing to help you!" Freddie fumed.
"I never asked you to did I?" Robbie spat, Freddie put his foot down and the car sped off down the road, Annalease was right the police were following them. The three of them were completely unknown as to what would happen to them next.
