Here it is. The last chapter. It's kind of bittersweet to see this end. I want to thank all of you so much for reading my story. I wouldn't have gotten anywhere with out you guys.
They found a compartment together, stowing their trunks in the overhead racks. Neville, Luna, and Hermione sat across from Draco, Ginny, Blaise, and Pansy, who held a sleeping Lj in her lap. Ginny sat with her legs in Draco's lap.
They reminisced their Hogwarts years and ribbed each other mercilessly. They were laughing so hard at one point that tears streamed down their faces. Around lunch time, Hermione left to find Ron and Harry. Luna and Neville both fell asleep and Pansy left to change and feed Lj. Blaise had dozed off while reading a book about quidditch.
Quietly, Draco pulled Ginny out of the compartment and down the corridor to an empty one. He slid the door shut behind him and lowered the blinds.
"Something wrong, Draco?" Ginny asked worriedly.
"No, not at all. Can't a guy sneak off with his fiancé to steal a few moments alone?" he smirked at her, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her into him. She smiled and stood on her toes to press a kiss to his lips.
"I love hearing you say that," she murmured when they had pulled apart.
"What?" he looked at her, confused.
"That I'm your fiancé," Ginny laughed as a smile spread across his face.
"I will like it better when your name is Mrs. Malfoy," he grinned at her.
Ginny laughed and kissed him again. They sat in their compartment for half an hour, talking about what they were going to be doing this summer.
"Of course we will be planning the wedding. My mum is going to be ecstatic," Ginny rolled her eyes.
"Mother will be thrilled to have a daughter-in-law. She always wanted a girl, but my father-" Draco stopped short. Ginny turned from her place in his lap, to look at him.
"Draco, he's gone. Everything will be fine," she kissed him sweetly to reassure him. He smiled at her, but she could tell he was still bothered by something.
"What is it, Draco?" she whispered, her hazel eyes searching his face.
"What if- what if I'm like him? What if when we have kids, I become the kind of father he was? What if I'm not good enough?" Draco's quicksilver eyes met hers and he looked so young and scared again. He looked so vulnerable. Ginny's heart broke for him, for having to go through what he did with Lucius. She faced him, her hands holding his face, forcing him to look at her.
"Draco Malfoy, you are going to be a great father. I saw you with Teddy and Lj. You have so much love to give that you will spoil our kids rotten. I'm afraid to have a girl because you will spend everything on her," she smiled as he chuckled slightly, "I have no doubt in my mind that you will be the best father for our kids. You are nothing like him. And if I ever hear you say otherwise, I'll have no problems beating some sense into you." Draco laughed loudly, his fears fading.
"I love you," he whispered as he kissed her forehead. She smiled up at him before getting to her feet.
We should be getting back to the others," she held her hand out to him and he took it, letting her lead him back to the compartment.
"Where did you two disappear to?" Blaise asked, glancing up from his game of wizards chess with Neville.
"Oh, nothing, just saying goodbye to some friends," Ginny lied smoothly. She sat on Draco's lap, looping her arms around his neck as his hands slid to her waist.
"How very Gryffindor of you," Zabini smirked up at her.
"Oh shut it, Blaise. At least I have friends," Ginny retorted with a smirk. The occupants laughed as Blaise shook his head, grinning.
"Touché, Weasley," he inclined his head to her.
"Not a Weasley for long I see," Pansy remarked, glancing at Ginny's left hand. The compartment went silent. Blaise looked at Draco in surprise, Luna and Hermione were both speechless, and Neville looked rather bewildered.
"YOU'RE ENGAGED?!" Hermione shrieked. Ginny jumped slightly, startled by her outburst.
"Yes," Ginny answered, showing them her ring. It caught the sun and threw fractured rainbows on the walls and ceiling. Hermione squealed, throwing herself at Ginny, squeezing her in a hug. Ginny, still sitting on Draco's lap, patted her friend's back awkwardly.
"When did he propose? How did he do it? Why haven't you told me? Do your parents know? When are you getting married? Have you set a date yet?" Hermione fired off questions as she pulled away, practically bouncing in her seat.
"Slow down there, Granger," Draco chuckled at her excitement.
"He proposed last night after everyone else had gone to bed. We were by the lake," Ginny smiled as she remembered the way he had asked, "It was very romantic. We haven't told anyone yet. Not even our parents. We haven't set a date, but I want to get married in the spring of next year."
"I have to wait a whole year before we get married?" Draco feigned hurt, putting a hand on his chest. Ginny laughed, smacking him lightly on the shoulder. He grinned, pulling her into a kiss. Blaise mimed vomiting behind them.
"Ow!" Blaise exclaimed, rubbing his shoulder where Pansy had punched him.
"That's what you get, you arse," she went back to playing with Lj. Draco pulled away from Ginny to laugh at his friend. Blaise rolled his eyes.
"When are you going to tell your parents?" Luna asked.
"Dinner tonight. Mum invited Draco and Mrs. Malfoy over to meet the family."
"I have a better question," Hermione chimed in, looking rather serious, "When are you going to tell Ron and Harry?"
"When we tell everyone else," Ginny shrugged.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Hermione, we will worry about that when we get there," Draco stepped in.
Hermione looked like she wanted to say more but stopped as they felt the train slow. They all stood, collecting their things. Together they made their way through the crowded corridor to the platform.
"I'm going to miss you guys so much!" Ginny felt her eyes get teary as she hugged Neville and Luna. "Write lots and visit whenever you want!"
"Like we would stay away," Neville grinned at her.
"We'll all see each other at Draco's in a week anyway," Luna smiled dreamily at her best friend. Ginny nodded, smiling.
As they finished saying goodbye, they all headed their separate ways. Draco took Ginny's hand and walked with her along the platform.
"We're really leaving," Ginny sighed, gazing at the scarlet steam engine.
"We'll see it again. Love," Draco kissed the top of her head.
"I know. It's been our life for the past eight years. It's hard to leave."
"It is, but we have a whole new life ahead of us."
Ginny smiled.
"And I get to spend it next to you," she kissed him sweetly.
"Forever, Love," Draco smiled down at her and held her close.
"Forever."
Ta-da! The end. I want to thank everyone (again, honestly I can't thank you all enough) for reading and reviewing and following and favoriting. Thank you all so much.
