37. Phase 2 Part 24: The Incredible Hulk

Date: April 19, 2010.

Dr. Bruce Banner and Dr. Elizabeth "Betty" Ross work on a top-secret research project under the guise of a research of radiation resistance, called the Bio-Tech Force Enhancement Project. Elizabeth's father, General Thaddeus Ross oversees the experiment. Banner became so confident that, in order to prove his work's worth, he decided to test it upon himself, injecting a promissing version of what was really a replication of the Super Soldier Serum, made along with military scientists using his radiation-resistance formula. However, the combination of the serum and an above lethal amount of Gamma Radiation caused Bruce to undergo a violent transformation. The effects of the procedure provoked Bruce Banner to develop the alter ego, Hulk, transforming him into a giant, green-skinned, muscle-bound titan with incredible strength, but who posed very little intelligence and was driven by fits of extreme rage; however, his transformations were temporary, being futurely triggered by the release of adrenaline when he became intensely excited or angry. An enraged, nearly mindless Hulk caused an explosion in the campus and destroyed the lab, hospitalizing his lover Betty, killing two scientists and a army officer and crushing General Ross' arm. In the wake of the accident, the military closes the entire lab building for a year and shuts down the entire Bio-Tech Force Enhancement Project. Banner tried to visit Betty while she was in the hospital, but her father made him leave. Ross admited to Banner that the project is being developed as weapon, not just defense, also telling him that if he refused to let the Army use Hulk for military purpose, then his troops would come after him.

At the hospital Banner is next to Betty, as a furious General ross shows up

Bruce:

General

General:

Banner!, get away from her!

Bruce moves his arms as a gesture to tell Ross to calm down

General:

GET AWAY FROM HER.

Bruce:

it was an accident, i didnt meant this to happen

General:

But it did, and now she's hospitalized!

Bruce:

What happened her, what happened me?

General:

The serum wasn't to enhance radiation resistance.

Bruce:

It wasn't?

General:

No, it was to create a weapon. Super-soldiers

Bruce:

What? That wasn't what we talked about.

General:

I know I lied, you are now a weapon, I want you to be a weapon for the military. i want your blood, with your blood we could mass produce more super soldiers for use in the battlefield.

Bruce:

What? Are you out of your mind?

General:

If you refuse this offer, you will be deemed a fugitive.

Bruce starts to get angry. His eyes flash green but looking at Betty calms him.

Bruce *Calmly*:

I'll need time to think about it.

General:

Of course. Take all the time you need.

As Bruce leaves, he slowly starts to run away, Ross calls up one of his soldiers. He knows what Bruce will do.

General:

This is the general. We are now on a confidential manhunt for Dr. Bruce Banner. He is to be declared dangerous but do not kill him.

As soon as Banner gets home he starts packing and takes off. He wanted to help people not this. He leaves Betty a good bye card and heads off into the sunset. Over the next year lots of news reports and newspaper report sightings of a green monster all over New York, as we see seeing the military mobilize every time and shooting at the monster. With the last sighting being in Alaska before the monster disappeared.

Venezuela. Banner wakes up, after having a nightmare. Banner's eyes flash green on and off.

Banner:

Just a nightmare *he breathes out*

Banner's eyes stop flashing green as he clams down. Later that day Banner watching the sky, smiling. As he goes to work as a construction worker.

Bruce:

Morning

Boss:

Morning, sleep okay?

Bruce:

Yeah I guess.

Boss:

I really wish you would let me drive you to and from work. Those green Maricoxi sightings have been scaring the crap out of me.

Bruce thinks back a couple weeks ago. On a rare day of letting his defenses down he ends up turning into the Hulk. Luckily the Hulk only took a stroll and headed deep into the jungles. Bruce guessed that even aggressive giants need to take a stroll once in a while. Bruce stops thinking.

Bruce:

Those sightings don't scare me much.

Boss:

You're a braver man than me friend.

Bruce:

If you say so.

Boss:

Well enough chat let's get this building together.

Banner goes to grab a saw and begins to cut wood with it, but while he's distracted thinking of the Hulk, he accidentally cuts himself, he panics as he quickly bandages his cut and cleans the blood from the saw. as his Boss looks

Boss:

Been meaning to ask. You scared of blood or something?

Banner:

You wouldn't understand.

Boss:

Probably not.

The boss Shrugs, After a long day of work, Banner meets with his 18 year old neighbored Ricardo "Rick" Jones in the streets.

Jones:

Hey Bruce how was your day

Banner:

Same stuff, different day

Jones:

Same here. So what happened to your hand?

Banner:

it was a simple cut. So how are things with your girlfriend, Marlo?

Rick:

all is good with us, What about you? You got a girl back home in the States? In fact why did you leave anyway? I'd give anything to live there.

Banner:

it's complicated.

Rick:

Wait I just remembered something. I found the orchid you wanted.

Banner:

Thanks

Banner grabs the orchid and goes home eager to get to work...He sits at his roughly fashioned WORKTABLE. On it seems to be his Only possessions of note: rows of various SMALL GLASS BOTTLES with liquid in them, neatly self-labeled and arranged in rows. One DECENT LOOKING MICROSCOPE. A SMALL FIELD SATELLITE LINK ANTENNA and a LAPTOP COMPUTER.

He turns on the SATELLITE LINK and the COMPUTER and starts to Instant Message, he messages to a guy named Mr. Blue, while he identifies himself as Mr. Green

"Mr. Blue?"

"Mr. Green...hello. Did you find what you were looking for?"

"Yes."

"And you have my notes on derivation of the inhibitor?"

"Yes."

"For most cellular exposures a concentration of 50-80 parts per million will suffice. Keep me posted. And good luck :)"

And Banner begins to work over many hours, Banner works. Methodically and painstakingly extracting tiny amounts of juice from his precious flowers, mixing it carefully with chemicals from self-labeled bottles and mixing It all in an assortment of glasses doubling as homemade test tubes; cooking it down over a small gas flame. Referring to BLUE's NOTES on his computer. Finally, all seems ready...a final PRICKS HIS OWN FINGER...so carefully placing ONE DROP of his BLOOD on a glass slide. He slides it under the microscope and looks at it, red blood cells fringed with a subtle GLOWING GREEN ENERGY. Like residual takes the slide back out. Takes a breath. This is it. In a dropper, he extracts some of the PURPLISH LIQUID he has been slowly refining from the very small amount in the glass. Carefully he brings it over the blood sample... and squeezes ONE, TWO THREE drops onto the blood. He places the slide under the SCOPE and looks again, The Purple liquid seems to be literally boiling Away around the cells. Frying. No change. The GREEN TINGE is still there. Banner pulls back from the scope and puts his forehead against the heel of his hands. He had let himself hope and now he is devastated.

"No mitigation."

"None? Your tissue exposure must be relatively high."

"Very high.

"Try a higher concentration. Slightly. 100 parts per million lethal toxicity."

Banner leans back and looks at: HIS WILTED FLOWERS. He has milked them for all they have.

"Impossible at present. Supply is limited."

"Not here. We're making pure synthetic by the gallon. Why are we doing this backwards? Chasing flowers in the jungle, silly. Send me a blood sample."

"Not prudent."

"Living with Gamma poisoning not prudent. Most people not alive long enough to be helped. Intrigued by your case."

"Not safe for either of us."

"You need help. Gamma not something to mess with."

He stares at his dead flowers long and hard. Out of options. Banner MOVES TO THE TABLE AND PROCEEDS TO EXTRACT A VIAL OF HIS OWN BLOOD. He labels it "MR. GREEN" At the PACKAGE STAND, sending the blood to Mr. Blue. BANNER turns and starts away, stops and looks back...he's taking a big risk. But he has to. So he turns and walks home.

Date: June 14, 2011.

Packing his laptop and sat link antenna in his backpack. Careful. Always making himself ready to leave. As he closes and packs the computer we see behind it...a picture of Betty Ross. He stares at it for a beat.

Banner:

So far away now.

Banner goes to a walk. Where he sees a group of men messing with a lady, not liking this, he goes to peacefully talk to those man,

Banner:

Excuse me

Men:

Get out of here before we hurt you

Banner:

Look can you just leave the lady alone?

One of the men pushes him.

Banner:

Listen just get out of here. You don't want to make me angry. You wouldn't like me angry.

Men:

Screw this. Let's trash this bitch

Rick Jones passes by and see's Banner being beaten up.

Jones:

HEY!

He strikes the men and forces them to leave

Lady:

Thank you.

The lady leaves, Jones goes to check on Banner.

Rick:

Banner are you okay.

Banner starts to lose control and his temper.

Banner:

No, I'm not okay. It never will be okay, they will find me. Something bad happening. Something bad,

He runs away to a nearby forest,

Rick:

Banner wait

Rick chases him. When he reaches him, Banner begins to Hulk up. He roars, Rick is startled.

Rick:

What are you?

Hulk does not answer.

Rick:

Are you some kind of kind of Hulking

Hulk:

Hulk...

Hulk is calm for now,

Rick:

I am Rick, your friend, okay? Friend understand, I won't harm you.

Hulk looks at him

Hulk:

Rick...Friend

Rick:

yeah.

Hulk still calm,

Rick:

Who's after you? Who will find you?

Hulk:

*growls*

Rick:

Some kind of master task force? The army

Hulk goes berserk when he mentions the Army.

Hulk:

*Roaras in anger*

Meanwhile, a man in a motorcycle is passing by the forest, his name is James "Logan" Howlett, a mutant, going around the world in search for answers of his past. Then he smells something. James looks around and focuses his hearing.

Rick:

Hulk calm down

He heads there to see what's up. He arrives to the location and sees a green giant monster going berserk nearby Rick.

Logan:

What the Hell?

He pops out his claws and attacks the monster in an attempt to protect the boy, the fight heads to the city.

Rick:

We're all screwed

In the city they fight. Hulk slams his fist in the ground causing the cement to sink. James jumps out of the way. Hulk tries jumping on the mutant but James proves to be too agile. Hulk throws a car but James slices through it. James ends up on the Hulk's back and stabs him several times but the Hulk grabs him. As they fight, Rick makes it way to the city witnessing the battle. Hulk snarls and is finally able to grabs Wolverine and tosses him away, Wolvie saves himself by stabbing his claws to a building, as he slides back down, the Hulk escapes to the forest. Wolvie loses the Hulk scent. So he goes to a nearby bar to take a drink. Back on the USA. On the Pentagon. General Glenn Talbot enters the office of General Ross.

Talbot:

Ross watch the news

Ross turns on the TV and see's that a Giant Green monster was sighted in Venezuela.

Reporter *on tv*:

So we have live footage of a green bigfoot wrecking a town in Venezuela.

Ross:

Talbot get an army ready for tomorrow and go to Venezuela, before you strike, ask the people from the area where Hulk was sighted if they saw a person that matches Banner description and where he lives. And i wants you to shoot darts at Banner, i want him asleep.

In the plane heading to Venezuela, Ross team prepare to capture Banner.

A soldier:

why do we want Banner?

Ross:

Banner is a fugitive from the US government and stole military secrets. He is implicated in the deaths of three scientists, a military officer, an Idaho State trooper and possibly two Canadian hunters. Now once we find where Banner lives, we will use an Radiation sensor to see if he's home

That night, Banner wakes up in the forest, half naked, with only his pants remaining,

Rick:

Banner, Banner wake up

Banner:

what happened?

Rick:

You bulked up and fought a dude with claws popping out from his knuckles

Banner:

Did I hurt anybody

Rick:

just the buildings and Cars.

Banner:

that's great...I better get moving, it's a matter of time before they find me

Rick:

who

Banner:

the army. I was working on a project for them that went horribly wrong, and this is the result, they want me and my DNA to duplicate it and create super soldiers. I will leave tomorrow morning. But first I got to do something in my house

Rick helps Banner get up and they head to his house. At Banner house, he puts a shirt and goes takes his laptop off his bags and turns it on and messages Mr. Blue.

"Success."

"Please elaborate"

"Concentration of 150ppm mitigates the gamma saturation in your sample. Incredible toxicity but it works."

Banner been dreaming of hearing this news for a year...but...

"Encouraging. But sample is baseline...I have...spikes."

"Tricky. Can you extract sample during next 'spike'?"

"No."

"Spike can't exceed exposure. What was your original exposure?"

"Data not is here"

"Toxicity at this level too risky without precision."

"Will it cure me?"

"Barring new gamma exposure... good chance."

"Will get back to you. Thank you."

"Pleasure. Hope you walk through the door one day. You must be a very unique individual. So where's the data?"

"Home"

Banner closes his laptop, then looks at the picture he have of Betty. He sighs as we see flashbacks of him having happier days, spending his time with Betty, before the accident occurred. Them going on dates. Hanging out everywhere. Working on projects that can benefit people. meanwhile The military are already on Venezuela, as they prepare to capture Banner,

Soldiers:

Ross we found Banner location, it's in the north.

Ross:

Give me the exact address on the way

Banner is sleeping in his house, but then he hears some voices outside, outside the soldiers found Banner residence, they use the Radiation sensor, he's there, the break thru the door, shoot darts at Banner bed, when they remove the blanket, there's nothing, they notice the window open, Ross see's outside, Banner is running away.

Ross:

He's getting away!

Ross team chases him, during the chase Banner and Ross make visual contact with each other, Banner keeps running. Wolverine who is drinking at a bar, hears all the noises outside

Logan:

The Hell?

He goes to check what's going on, he sees a man being chased by the military, he hops on his motorcycle and goes after them and see if he can be of help. During the chase, they pass next to Rick Jones, seeing his friend in danger, he decides to find a way to help. He ends up tossing a bike in front of a soldier making him and other soldiers behind to trip and fall. The chase continues, Banner stops for a while as his adrenaline starts to kick in, he must calm down otherwise he will Hulk out. He keeps running with the military behind him, the chase continues through the streets. Banner grabs a stand and throws it in back of him.

Banner:

Sorry!

He keeps running away, The soldiers run around the stand. Bruce cuts down an alley way. However, he ends up pumping the same group of thugs he faced earlier, And they are drunk and looking to fight and nobody better could have showed up

Thug:

Oh look who it is. i am excited for a Re-Match

Banner:

No.

Now they chase him, they enter on a factory, where the thugs begin to beat him, Rick Jones shows up, so does the Army and then Logan. As the thugs are beating up Banner once they reach a dead end

Banner:

stop something really bad will happen if you make me angry

Thug:

Yeah Sure.

They don't listen, the soldiers try to shoot a dart on Banner, they aim at him, but a thug accidentally gets in the way and gets shot by the Dart, still being beaten up, Banner eyes turn green. Banner's groan in the dark, turns into a horrible anguished sound…with it the sound of tearing and popping and cracking...

Thug:

SHUT UP!

He throws a kick into the shadows… and it's the worst mistake of his life. His foot meets something hard and faster than you can blink he is gone, the other thugs run away, as Hulk launches the Thug leader at a wall very hard, killing him. Ross watches this from the aircraft and grabs a radio

Ross:

Fire!

The military shoots at Hulk, nothing, Hulk begins to wreck the place as the military keeps shooting at him. Hulk lets out a roar that would cause even a werewolf to become submissive. He knocks a beam down, trying to kill the soldiers. He races towards the soldiers. Several soldiers get scared and run. Others continue to fire but Hulk tosses them around like rag dolls. Logan shows up

Logan:

I wonder what that creature is, but he needs to be taken care of.

Wolverine decides to do something, pops his claws.

Logan:

Hey bub!

He begins to attack Hulk, Hulk tosses him away, as the military keeps shooting at him, Logan suffers a broken neck but recovers quickly.

Rick:

No!, what do i do?, wait?. Oh no! Bruce behind you!

But Logan is about to strike Hulk from behind, not allowing his friend to be hurt, Rick gets in the way, but ends up getting stabbed himself, much to Logan shock,

Logan:

What the? No!

Not knowing what to do. The soldier stop fire. Rick bleeds as blood mouths out his mouth. Hulk turns around and see's Rick dead in Wolverine claws, Hulk is anger

Hulk:

You...killed...friend

Hulk goes berserk, Logan removes Rick body out his claws as Hulk attacks him, and the militaries keep shooting at hulk. Hulk roars as he tries to attack wolverine. The Hulk rips an iron beam out of the ground and swings it at wolverine. Wolvie slices through it and stabs Hulk in the stomach but ends up getting tossed away. Hulk breaks thru a wall and escapes much to the anger of General Ross, as Hulk roars in anger in the forest. Logan in shock of killing an innocent civilian is taken bt the military, without much effort and they take Rick's body away. Ross and his men gather at Banner house. Taking his backpack and other stuff he left behind for find information,

Ross:

bring the "freak" to me.

Talbot goes to get Logan, one of the soldiers look at a picture of Betty Ross,

Soldier:

is that's Banner girlfriend?, maybe she's helping him,

Ross:

no, i closed that door long time ago.

Talbot brings Logan,

Logan:

I swear I didn't wanted to kill that kid, it was not my intention to harm an innocent

Ross:

That's not why I brought you here. Would you like a cigar?

Logan:

Then why am I here?

Ross:

I admired how you took care of the monster, and want your help.

Logan:

I will think about it, but what the hell happened. What the hell was that green thing?

Talbot:

There's rumors in the street about sightings...farmer says they saw a gorilla going into the edge of the forest.

Logan:

that thing I saw was not a Gorilla it was green and not an animal, where could it be

Ross:

in the forest, but he can venture there, he's gone.

Logan:

who was the man I saw you chasing, what happened to him?

Ross:

His name is Bruce Banner, a fugitive to the goverment

Logan:

A fugitive huh?, bet he managed to get away, when the monster attacked.

Ross:

that was Banner

Logan:

So then Banner must have led us to the monster

Ross:

No, the monster was Banner

Logan:

You'll have to explain this to me

Ross:

Not right now, but you did a good job on taking the hulk, we are undermanned and that's my fault. I didn't think it would happen again. Everyone. Pack up and return to the plane.

Ross looks at Logan

Ross:

and you come with us.

Location: in the jungles of Petén, Guatemala,

Banner finds himself lost, hald naked and wet, he walks around the jungle, but then he finds a car passing by, Banner motions the car to stop. The car does so.

Driver:

Need any help?

Banner:

Yes where am I?

Driver:

Guatemala

Banner:

I see. Can you give me a ride please?

Driver:

Hope in.

Bruce gets in. The Driver continues on the route

Driver:

Rough night?

Bruce:

You can say that. Can't head home either and I don't have any money. Know where a shelter is so I can get clothes?

Driver:

Dont worry, i'll give you some cash.

Bruce:

Thanks

At the army plane. They are checking Banner computer. There's not much there.

A soldier:

all authors' names deleted in the computer. He was using a randomizer to tap different wireless networks every time he went online. They can't even trace where his email went or where it came from, all we know is that he's talking to some named "Mr. Blue".

Ross:

He's trying to cure himself,

Meanwhile Logan is nervous at the plane as he looks at his adamantium claws.

Soldier:

Aw look at this. Is the poor little freak afraid of flying?

Logan does not take this well and KOs the soldier. On Petén, Banner buys clothes at a stall in the market. Later that day, Banner is inside the back of a truck riding with migrant workers. To Mexico. Once in Mexico, Banner trying to sleep in the doorway of a locked store Car lights spill across him huddled there. Eyes closed, he have a nightmare with The Hulk then what happened at Venezuela and the death of Rick Jones, Bruce wakes up eyes darting. He shakes it off and gets up and keeps moving. He decides to go home and find the date for Mr. Blue, so that this nightmare can end

Banner goes to a restaurant for Eat, but out of fear he starts to see visions that the military is inside the restaurant

Banner:

No, no, no, no, no

Banner gulps as he sees the military. An imaginary reporter comes onto the TV screen.

Reporter:

A manhunt continues for former doctor Bruce Banner

Banner looks around and sees people staring at him. The military gets ready to surround him. Banner runs away. As a client on the restaurant is confused

Client:

he hate sports...

On a desert area, a car stops next to Banner, he asks him if he wants a lift,

Driver:

Need a lift

Banner:

Yes can you bring me to the border

Driver:

You an immigrant?

Banner:

No, I'm returning home.

Later the man brings Banner to the broader, he then goes to check a safe way to enter back to USA, and he hops on a train heading to USA. On the Pentagon. Logan is waiting outside, Ross opens the door of an office he's on

Ross:

Logan come in.

Logan does as he's told, in there Ross Superior waits for them.

Sam Greller:

Who's this?

Ross:

The person I told you about sir. His name is Logan. He unemotionally helped us in Venezuela

Greller:

Tell me what you saw son?

Logan:

I'm not your son. I'm older than you.

Ross:

Logan

Logan:

Sorry, I hate when people call me that.

Greller:

Sorry about that. Force of habit. Go ahead Logan.

Logan:

I saw a giant monster, green, I fought him twice. However I could not bring him down, doesn't matter how hard I tried, he's an worthy foe.

Greller sees some dog tags on Logan shirt,

Greller:

You in the military?

Logan:

I don't remember, I can just remember glimpses of me fighting wars, but that's about it.

Greller:

I see. So what in the hell happened there?

Ross:

Banner's work was a tangent of Bio-Tech

Greller:

So you went to Venezuela to nab a scientist and the super soldier experiment went out of control

Ross:

Yes. This could be an incredibly dangerous weapon in the wrong Hands and we have no idea what Banner intentions are.

Logan and Ross walk out of the meeting with Greller.

Logan:

Can Banner, transform at will?.

Ross:

I can't answer that.

Logan:

Greller said "Super-Soldier", can I know more about it.

Ross:

yes.

Logan:

Good because I wants to know what I just got mixed with.

Ross:

Are you hungry?

Logan:

Yes

Ross:

Good. I'll explain everything at lunch

At Lunch, Ross is eating a salad, while Logan eats a Hot Dog. as Ross starts to speak.

Ross:

You must realize that what I'm about to tell you is very sensitive, both to me and to the Army. so we have a Bio-Force Department, and that we had a bio-force enhancement research project developed during World War II, for simplification. Super Soldiers, We decided to dust it off, and give it another go, aiming to create the better soldier. So I called Banner about a year ago, back when Banner was helping NEST for a brief time, so Banner's work was very early-phase. It wasn't even weapons application, he thought he was working on radiation resistance. I would never have told him what it was really for, but he was so sure about what he was doing he tested it on himself. And something went very wrong... or it went very right.

Logan:

So why did he escape?

Ross:

Banner was brilliant, one in a generation...but he is scientist, not one of us.

Logan:

but why not just take the data to someone else?

Ross:

Because he IS the data. As far as I'm concerned, that man's whole body is property of the US Army.

Logan:

What about the rest of it? You tried other things?

Ross:

It was very promising but none of it panned out. Or, it did but it was...unstable. Made the subjects unstable. I wanted to refine it... but then Al-Haquid happened and Congress killed it. No stomach.

Logan:

You'll need something special to go against that thing. Someone who can survive to learn how to fight it. I don't think I want to step away from it. Sir, if you're going to take another crack at him, I want in. I'd be willing. And with respect, sir, you'll need a team that's prepared and ready to fight, because if that thing shows up again... you're going to have a lot of professional tough guys pissing in their pants, sir.

Ross grins. They clink glasses. Mutual respect growing. A team forming.

Banner goes to Virginia, where Culver University is, where he used to work one time, he found that Betty was still working there in the Cellular Biology Department, he sees her sitting and talking with some friends, he smiles, then a man, an psychiatrist named Dr. Leonard Samson, appears and kisses her, his smile disappears, he completely lost her, but at the same time he feels happy for her. He leaves before anybody spots him. He intends to enter the University, but he can't enter if he doesn't identifies himself, so he gets an idea. meanwhile at the Military Cold Storage, Ross admits himself and one medical technician into a secured medical storage room. It takes codes to get through doors. Individual codes to open any of the cold storage lockers. Ross opens one…the fog of liquid nitrogen keeping something preserved. Ross nods and the technician lifts out the metal canisters… when the sinister is open, Ross grabs a bottle containing a recreated Super Soldier serum. Later Banner goes to an Italian restaurant that a friend of his owns. the man named Stanley is about to close the restaurant, Banner knocks at the door, Stanley see's who it is, and he's surprised.

Stanley:

Bruce?

They hug.

Stanley:

it's great to see you again.

Bruce:

You too

Stanley:

Go to my office and I'll get you the usual.

Bruce:

Sure.

Bruce does as he's told. Minutes later Stanley comes in with a couple of large calzones and some canolies.

Stanley:

Banner runs deliveries for his friend's restaurant. He uses the deliveries as an excuse to get in to the campus. Banner enters with two pizzas. Guard looks up.

Banner:

I got a delivery on 5.

Guard:

I don't think anybody's up there.

Banner:

Oh man, everybody's bailing... I already got an medium with no takers. You want it?

Guard:

Don't let me stand in the way ofcommerce. God bless, brother.

Takes the pizza happily and waves him through. Banner enters the science department and goes down a hall towards his former lab, the place HULK was born...The LAB is a large open space seen through half-glassed walls. Long work tables full of computer terminals. Large Super-Computer arrays along the walls. It has been turned into a Computer Science lab in the intervening years. One lone computer nerd GRAD STUDENT named Amadeus Cho, burning the midnight oil at a terminal. Brain fried, eyes bleary. Banner stares at the familiar layout and just as Cho looks up and meets his eye...Banner stays frozen having a flashback about the incident. Then Banner returns to reality. The guy is looking at him... or at his pizza.

Bruce:

Ummm..here's your Pizza.

Banner sits down and gets to work accessing the University's Mainframe. It asks for "USER: PASSWORD: "He types: "Dr. Elizabeth Ross"... then thinks a beat. Tries "BettyLovesBruce". Rejected. Tries another of her old ones: "CellsUnite!" Bingo. TIGHT ON: COMPUTER SCREEN and BANNER'S FACE as he searches for the records from his work. Searching under

- GAMMA PULSE: No results

Every attempt to find the records of his program yields no evidence that it ever existed. They have totally expunged all record of his work. He clicks on a chat program and gets in contact with Mr. Blue

"Hey Old friend, how's the search?"

Banner returns to the restaurant. Stanley notices the look on his friend's face.

Stanley:

What's wrong?

Banner:

The data I was searching for is gone. All of it. There's nothing left.

Stanley:

Not surprising. After the accident the lab doors closed for half a year, they've just been re-opened

I don't know what I was thinking. There's nothing for me here. I don't know why I came...I hoped...

Stan:

Banner goes to his room to pack his things, when he's gone, the bell on the restaurant door tings. Stan comes out of the back hearing laughter and looks up and stops cold...its Samson and Betty, grabbing a slice on the way home. He tries to hurry em along...

Stan:

Kids! I got nothing but marinara now...

Betty:

Oh, I need a Mr. Pink, Stan. Please!

Samson:

She worked through dinner again.

Betty and Samson talk as Stan starts to make up the special slices. Samson istelling a story about something one of his patient's said. Betty eyes flick down to the food...

Betty:

Not too spicy, Stan...

Stan:

Betty looks at the windows of the restaurant and sees a familiar man walking outside at the rain. She's in shock. Betty explodes out the restaurant, looking left and right, nothing, then she sees Bruce next to a lamppost

Betty:

Bruce

He hears her He, but doesn't turn and she moves toward him, still not able to believe it's actually him...and as she draws near. Then he turns and faces her, and she stops in her tracks, her hand flying to her mouth...she could literally faint from the level of adrenaline and emotion shooting through her body.

Betty:

Samson bursts out the door...searching for Betty,

Bruce nods, as the couple enters back the restaurant, Bruce doesn't have any intentions of going and keeps walking, then he looks himself at an broken mirror. symbolizing his broken life, he decides it's better to stay away from everyone and avoid any losses, he doesn't remember it clearly but he have glimpses of Rick Jones death, all he remembers is Rick body stabbed by the claws of a man clearly in regret for what happened and that is affecting him, he lost Rick Jones, his only friend, and he died so young because of him. Later that day, Samson and Betty are back home but Banner have not yet arrived,

Betty:

Samson I'm worried about Bruce

Samson:

I'm sure he's fine

Betty:

Still I can't help but worry. I'm going to go and find him.

Samson:

She drives thru the streets, still raining in search of Banner. She pulls up to the bigger road leading out a way to the highway, Looks right into the dark...nothing. Looks left and we see the reaction on her face at something she sees...Banner lonely figure, small in the dark walking along. She stops behind him, opens the door, she gets outside in the rain, and Bruce looks behind as she hugs him.

Betty:

Don't leave. I just want to see you and talk to you

Bruce:

I have to. It's not safe

Betty:

I don't care. Please. You can't just disappear again. I couldn't take it

Bruce:

I don't want to make things more difficult for you. I couldn't bear that.

Betty:

I want you to come with me now.

They arrive to Betty and Samson home,

Samson:

Bruce, nice to see you again. Why don't you two get out of your clothes while I make dinner?

Later Bruce and Betty are talking, while Samson cooks.

Bruce:

I've been in contact with a man named Samuel Sterns who could help me cure myself. I need to find him.

Betty:

I've heard of the guy, he works on Oscorp in New York City,

Bruce:

but without the data about my accident it's pretty much hopeless. But I need to take the risk and help that man find a way to cure me.

Betty:

She goes to a bookshelf with a vase on it. She shakes out a small USB She goes back and hands it to him.

Betty:

I made a backup of all the data on the USB here, hoping it would tell us something someday.

Banner:

Bruce, Betty and Samson eat together at a kitchen table. Convivial, determinedly light, staying off the obvious weight of it all for a moment. Samson is telling a funny story.

They all laugh, even Banner chuckles.

Samson:

Still laughing... but something has happened. Banner has put his hand to his forehead and...He is weeping. Something long-held is being released and he begins to simply cry. Betty and Samson fall silent, bearing witness. Betty takes his hand until he pulls himself together.

Banner:

Sorry. It's the first time in a while i felt light about something,

Betty:

its okay, with everything you've been through its not surprising.

Samson:

Later before they all go to sleep, Betty goes to speak to Bruce

Bruce enters his room and goes to sleep. At the Pentagon, Logan enters a room where medics and Ross are waiting for him, they intend to inject him with the Super Soldier serum.

I will give you a low dose I need you sharp out there, disciplined. First side of any side effect and we stop and you're off team until you straighten out. Agreed?

Logan nods

Ross:

Now.. are you sure about this, you're special enough, theres also a slight chance of it affecting you mentally.

yes, but I want to be able to take down my new adversary more easily. It's not like I will go crazy and power hungry, I just wants to be more ready, quick, and agile to help and take down Hulk.

Ross:

Logan lays on a table. as he tooks at the medics

be careful, dont inject me on my bones or anything like that,you won't want the needles to break

Logan then is injected as he starts to feel more powerful than he ever felt.

Banner wakes up early and goes to the living room where Samson is at too, he woke early too,

Samson sits on the couch and Banner sits in the chair opposite him.

You've been so generous and I'm sorry he had to drop in like this.

Samson:

It's fine. We're all friends here. Betty still cares for you and we're all friends here.

Banner:

I know. I still care for her too and I'm glad she's happy and to be honest I'm pulling a gag either or whatever you may think. I didn't originally plan on coming to see Betty.

Samson:

I see so why did you come back?

Banner:

I got a problem and that the solution could be here.

Samson:

Cryptic. But I'll take it at face value. I'll confess something to you if you'll clear up some things for me...First, I confess, as a man...as Betty's lover... that I have always hoped you were dead. Not because I didn't like you but because I love Betty and I've known that unless you were really gone, or she believed you were, that there would always be three of us in this relationship. I've dreaded the thought of you walking through the door. But now that you're here...I have to admit that I'm very happy about it. Because I'm also a psychiatrist as well as an astrophysicist. And I'm very committed to putting light into dark corners, so to speak, and I'm very good at finding my way into the places people hide their secrets. I do it primarily because I think it helps them but also frankly because I'm interested in what people have to hide. Betty has a very dark corner that I have never found my way into, despite considerable, careful effort. And the only thing I know about her dark place is that you are in it. And I'm wondering if you'll be honest enough to tell me, why are you something that she won't talk about?

Thunder rumbles in the distance… a summer storm. As they are talking… he begins to perceive something odd… people Clearing away from the open campus… is it about to rain again? In the distance beyond a building: A STUDENT reacting to something unseen, Banner senses something, they're here,

And Banner breaks and runs. He takes off at a full sprint, moving right to left along the buildings, trying to outdistance the soldiers before they get a bead on him...

Betty starting to run toward the direction they saw the soldiers. MORE SOLDIERS coming into view, sweeping across the grounds between the buildings heading in the direction Bruce went. In the distance, through the campus complex on the road on the far

Side she sees FOUR HUMVEES jumping off the road and heading the same way along the opposite perimeter of the campus. One has a MOUNTED .50 Cal gun; two have LARGE STRANGELY SHAPED CANNONS MOUNTED ON THE REAR; One has a FLAMETHROWER on a SWIVEL MOUNT. Betty starts looking around, frantic...inside a tech van, Ross, Talbot and technicians, monitoring the progress. Ross is fuming that the trap got blown...Talbot is already adjusting.

Ross:

Goddam it! We'd have had sniperson target in three more minutes. I want to know who waved at that civilian... They're going to Sadr City!

Talbot:

Target on the run, heading 350, Sniper 2 has the shot.

Soldier *radio*:

Banner is inside the building

As the soldiers start to run thru the campus, we see Logan running, faster than them. Meanwhile Banner enters the building as other soldiers keep chasing him inside, Banner enters a library, and with no option left he grabs the USB and eats it. as the tech van keeps moving, Betty gets in the way, she knows her dad is inside

Betty:

Father stop please

Ross and Talbot are monitoring screens, radiation counters. Talbot looks out the window to monitor movements on the ground and she spots Betty...

Talbot:

Sir...sir?, It's your daughter.

Outside

Betty:

Come out of there!

Ross throws the door of the vehicle open and jumps out… twosoldiers emerge to flank and cover him … and they stand facing each other.

Betty:

Please don't do this... He needs help!

Ross:

You can't see this clearly now get inside.

He moves to grab her arm and she resists... Meanwhile Banner keeps running as he ends up into a GLASS ENCLOSED PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS, leading to the next Building… the soldiers tell Ross that they got him, the soldiers closes the doors on both sides, trapping Banner

Ross:

Start firing the gas canisters

The soldiers do as they're told, the place starts to get filled by Gas, as Banner tries to not breath, he starts to get scared, then he starts to Hulk out. Betty tries to run towards where Banner is,

Ross:

Someone stop her

A soldier pins her down. Then Banner is completely hulked out and bursts thru the glass and lands in the grass as everyone stares at him, he roars. Hulk and the military fights a lot of havoc, as Hulk destroys most of the vehicles and such, including Helicopters. Helicopters slam into buildings. Hulk uses a telephone pole as a bat just to fight them. Then Logan gets into the fight.

Wolverine:

Hey grass stain remember me?

Hulk:

You kill friend!

Hulk roars and races towards Wolverine. Wolverine dodges the attacks and chuckles as Hulk crashes through buildings and vehicles fully aware of the fact he's just making Hulk angrier. Wolverine also manages to get in a few kicks and slashes. The military then use Sound wave's cannons, affecting the hulk.

Betty:

Stop your killing him!

During this Samson show up and see's the whole thing,

Samson:

Betty!

then Hulk grabs a piece of a destroyed tank and another one and uses it shield himself as he tosses the second piece to the vehicle with the sound wave cannons destroying it and uses the remaining one to destroy the last one. Betty is held by two soldiers straining toward the Hulk,

Betty:

Bruce stop fighting and just run

Samson is able to hear that and looks at Hulk. And suddenly Samson understands what was in that dark corner she wouldn't let him into and what Banner was talking about. He stands gaping at the impossible. Another battle quickly ensues but the soldiers quickly get scared. Soon, nobody moves. Nobody's engaging that THING anymore... expect Wolverine, he gets up and grabs a gun shooting at Hulk. Hulk is angered and watches Logan, meanwhile as Hulk is distracted,

Ross:

I want air support, fire at him!

Logan then looks at Hulk

Logan:

Is that all you got?

Hulk growls, he grabs him and throws him to the forest. He chases after him, as Logan lays in the ground,

Logan:

You call that a throw? That's pathetic

Hulk grabs him and hits him to another tree and then bites him, they keep fighting Blows are exchanged. Trees and rocks are either sliced in half or smashed from the ensuing fight. Hulk tosses him back the campus, Logan gets up, and he pops out his claws.

Wolverine:

was that your best shot? What else he got?

But then Hulk Kicks Logan very hard, Logan hits another tree. Then Hulk tosses a piece of wrecked tank like a knife.

Hulk:

This is for friend

In the process slicing Logan waist off, everyone is horrified, but Ross still is focused on capturing the Hulk.

Ross:

Where is that darn copter?

Then Betty walks towards Hulk,

Betty:

Bruce stop please and calm down.

Hulk calms down, but then the helicopter shoots, Hulk enraged, tosses a tank to it, blowing it up, the Helicopter falls nearby them, but Hulk uses his body to shelter Betty,

Ross:

Betty

He can't see anything, only fire, but then Hulk raises up, holding Betty, he growls at Ross and leaps away. Later, Samson stands in the empty garage as Ross approaches him

Ross:

You did good calling us. I knows that you're now doubting it because it went bad but your instincts were right, now you can see what Banner is,

Samson:

I don't actually. He wasn't what I thought he'd be at all. It was strange to me that she would never say what had happened between them...she's one of the most honest people I know. But it was this, wasn't it? And you knew about it too...you were all a part of it?

Ross:

I need to know where they're going. She'll be in incredible danger as long as she's with him.

Samson:

From who? He protected her. You almost killed her.

Ross:

I give you my word that her safety is my main concern at this point. Bruce's as well. I care about him more than you realize. I don't want to hurt him, I want to help him.

Samson:

You know it's a point of professional Pride with me that I can always tell when somebody is lying. He wasn't...and you are. But I don't know where he was going. I know that she'll help him if she can.

Ross:

Then she'll be aiding a fugitive and I Won't be able to help either of them.

Ross walks out the driveway to his waiting van.

Samson:

You know I used to wonder why Betty never talked about you. Now I know

Ross returns to his office, he looks at a picture of Betty. He begins to talk to the picture.

Ross:

I sure miss the old times before all of this happened. You used to play baseball with me when you were a kid, I always thought I would have more kids. But that never happened. You look like her mother, you are all I got left and i dont want to lose you.

At a forest, Hulk enters a cave with Betty on his arms, he lays her gently down inside the opening out of the rain. This wakes Betty and, disoriented she reacts in terror to the monstrous face next to hers, she screams and kicks him reflexively, he growls surprised

Betty:

It's fine Bruce I'm sorry.

Hulk does not answer

Betty:

can understand me?

Hulk doesn't answer, he's there like if he were a confused little kid. but then a thunder strikes, scaring hulk, he explodes in rage as he tosses a rock to the sky, roaring,

Betty:

Bruce it's okay. It's just a storm. Come back into the cave

Betty brings him back in the cave

Betty:

Everything will be fine

Hulk still looks at her, confused.

Betty:

I'm a friend

Hulk:

friend?

Betty:

yes.

Hulk:

Had. Friend. He's gone

Betty looks at him

Hulk:

Hulk always alone

Betty:

You won't be alone

Hulk:

they. call. Hulk. monster

Betty:

Then there's another thunder which also scares Hulk,

Betty:

Shh it's okay. It's just thunder

Hulk calms down and they watch the rain.

Ross is talking with a medic about Logan,

Ross:

Any idea on how he's still alive because where I'm from people don't survive being sliced in half.

Medics:

We're still figuring that out ourselves. What we do know, and it's quite amazing I must confess, is that the tissues and nerves in his severed waist and the rest of his body where still functional, so we could've done a perfect surgery on Logan, he could still use his legs,

Ross:

Then why didn't you?

Medic:

Let me show you

They come to Logan bed, who is still sleeping. his waist is back to his body, with no scars or anything.

Medic:

he cured itself, this is nothing he have ever seen. And another thing is that I discovered that his bones are covered with a rare metal named adamantium. And despite all he went thru with the Hulk, he can't seem to die or suffer from a serious injury, his heart and body are a machine.

Betty wakes up in the cave where he see's Banner sleeping on her legs. Later that day they are not staying in a hotel. Betty leaves to buy some clothes, Banner looks himself at the mirror and have more flashbacks of the hulk, and he collapses and shivers in fear. Minutes later Betty returns and hears Banner throwing up in the bathroom. She waits, concerned. He Emerges.

Betty:

Still feeling sick?

Bruce:

No, I feel better. Getting my data back.

He holds up the little USB.

Betty:

I think I've got a good selection for you. First things first...

She tosses him a new pulse monitor

Bruce:

You're kidding me...

Betty:

Target: they've got everything. Okay, it ain't Armani but...

He puts it on as she starts showing him clothes. She holds up a

large pair of stretchy purple pants

I'm an irradiated freak, that doesn't mean I've lost my sense of style.

At the Pentagon, Ross is at a desk off the open room of a Strategic Operations Command Center. The desks on the floor are empty. Ross is up late alone. A WALL-MOUNTED TV is tuned to NEWS, reporting the dramatic battle. Ross is talking to Greller on the phone about the current situation

Ross:

FBI! Did the Chiefs get a look at thosetapes?! Do they think that was a video game?

Greller:

They saw them, nobody's doubting anymore...

Ross:

What's the FBI gonna do...pull out badges? Why don't we get ATF while we're at it!

Greller:

It's formalities, T. Use em for intel and then tell em to back off. The Chiefs are giving you total authority to run this operation. Make your list of what you need and get back to me.

Ross hangs up the phone. Meanwhile he keeps watching at the news.

Reporter:

Further search for the mysterious 'Hulk' was delayed by powerful thunderstorms in the Smoky Mountain National forest.

As in the news they talk about the Hulk. Then Talbot enters Ross

Talbot:

We got updates on the freak status

they go to the hospital, where they see Logan all healed.

Logan:

General...

Ross:

glad to see you alive. That's an interesting ability you have there.

Logan:

As nice as it is sometimes I still feel the pains from the wounds I heal

Ross:

In speaking of feelings how do you feel?

Logan:

Pissed and ready for the next round

Ross grins due to the good news. Back with Banner, on their hotel room, they put some of Betty stuff on the bed

Bruce:

Seeing as we're fugitives there are some things that we can't use such as your bank card and your cellphone. That's how they can track us.

Betty:

Without my card we wont have much money.

Bruce:

No but I've done more with less

Betty:

What if we sell my pendant

Bruce:

No that's the only thing left of your mother

Betty:

I know but I'll try to get it back, after this.

Back at the Pentagon Ross has a real team assembled now. Technicians, Intel, law-enforcement. All of it. There are at least two dozen people in the room and Talbot is wrapping up the briefing. Ross stands to the side.

Talbot:

...Federal is already monitoring phone, plastic and Dr. Ross's web accounts, and local PD's have been put on alert... They'll pop up somewhere and when they do it comes straight to us...,

Ross:

They won't just pop up. He made it one year and got across borders without making a mistake and he won't use a damn credit card now. If he was trying to escape he'd be long gone. But he's not trying to escape...he's looking for help. based on the data we got from Bruce stuff on Venezuela, he and an ally have been sending each other messages, they identify each other as Mr. Green and Mr. Blue, And that's how we're going to get him. We don't know where they're going, but we know what they're after, you've all got copies of that correspondence. There are only a few hundred people in world who have what he needs. i've contacted the World Security Council, they are going to let use SHIELD database as a way to track the emails and go after them.

Bruce and Betty with a "FOR SALE" sign in their hands, buying something in cash from the young guy behind the counter. The guy is on a computer. Banner offers the guy $50.

Guy takes the money happily and Banner quickly plugs in the data card and sends a message to Mr. Blue/Sterns.

Later Bruce and Betty are driving during nighttime, and it's raining. Banner stares out in to the dark, a darker mood back on him.

Bruce:

how long it been since you meet Samson.

Betty:

About last August. He came to lecture on a fellowship and stayed.

Bruce:

Betty:

Bruce:

You don't have to explain anything to me. Ever. He seems like a good man and he treats you well and that makes me happy.

Betty:

He does. I never trusted him with this. Trust isn't the right word. I didn't test his faith in me by asking him to believe something I still can't believe myself.

Bruce:

Who could? Sometimes I even convince myself it's not real.

Betty:

What is it like...when it happens? What do you experience?

Bruce:

Remember those clinical experiments we volunteered for at Harvard? The induced hallucinations? It's like that, amplified by a thousand. It feels like someone is pouring a liter of acid into my brain. The sound is the worst.

Betty:

You sure about that because that night in the cave, it seemed like you knew me. Maybe your mind is in there it's just...overcharged...can't process what's happening. In New Jersey, Bruce wakes up disoriented.

Bruce:

Where are we?

Betty:

stuck in the traffic but we are close.

He looks around. Traffic lockup. Radio talking about traffic delays due to heightened security alert. He opens the door and stands up to look. The gates of a toll booth a long way ahead, we see that it says "Holland Tunnel". He can see uniformed officers actually standing by toll gates looking at faces.

Banner:

We need to leave

Betty nods and they leave. They walk down the sidewalk and we pan and see that they are heading for the WATER'S EDGE.

Betty:

Sir can you take us across the river please?

Old guy:

Why not take the bridge, Lass?.

Bruce:

Her ex husband is one of the guards that's up there.

Bruce lies, but The old guy looks. One of the officers is a guy that looks like a rude person and would be capable of being a mean husband.

Betty:

We'll pay you anything

Old guy:

I see what you mean. Hop on lad and lass.

Bruce and Betty get on board the small OUTBOARD MOTOR BOAT. The OLDER GUY throttles up and as they move out into the river heading to New York City. they look at a map of New York City.

Betty:

Which would be the quickest way to get to Oscorp? Subway?

Bruce:

That would be a bad idea considering the fact I'll be in a confined space with a bunch of other people.

Betty:

True. We better go find a taxi.

Minutes later they find a Taxi. However a guy pushes them out of the way to get into the taxi. Bruce pulls the guy out.

Bruce:

We need this taxi now! *Snarls*

The man pisses himself and runs away. The two get into the taxi. Bruce puts on a pair of head phones and listens to some soothing music.

Betty:

Oscorp and hurry please.

Betty gives the taxi driver a hundred dollar bill.

Cabbie:

You got it lady.

The cabdriver speeds off. Minutes later they reach the building. Dr. Sterns is getting out the building, about to head home, as Betty stops him.

Betty:

Dr. Sterns, wait a minute please.

Sterns:

Sure. Can I help you?

Betty:

Betty Ross

Sterns:

Ohhh Dr. Ross, A pleasure. I've heard of your work. It's quite brilliant

Betty:

Thank you

Sterns:

So what do I owe this visit?

Betty:

A friend of mine wants to meet you

Bruce shows

Bruce:

Are you Mr. Blue?

Sterns:

Bruce:

Sterns:

Lets head inside so we can speak in private.

The three head in and go up to Sterns' lab The lab has a bit of the 'Mad Scientist' clutter to it. Sterns speaks very quickly.

Sterns:

...it took some work, let me tell you, we've never tried to concentrate the trimethodine a tenth of what your peak exposure correlates with. That you survived an event like that to stand here and discuss this...it has something to do with Dr. Ross's protein primer capacitating the cells of course, but it's beyond my reckoning...we could study it for years.

Betty:

But you think you've got the concentration right?

Sterns:

Well yes...on paper anyway. And my cell saturation will make sure we don't miss any spots...but...even if we hit the levels right, I can't promise this will cure you. It might only be an antidote to suppress the specific flare up. When you have one of these 'spikes' ... is the experience extreme?

Banner:

You might say that.

Sterns

Well I can't wait to see it! You know I must say...I wondered if you were real. And if you were I wondered what it would look like...a person with that much power lurking in him. Nothing could have surprised me more than this unassuming young man shaking my hand! I'd be remiss however if I didn't point out that these concentrations carry extraordinary levels of toxicity. If we're over by even a small integer, the residual could kill you. Will kill you.

Banner:

There's a flip side to that ... if we miss on the low side...if we induce me and it fails...it will be very dangerous for you.

Sterns:

I've always been more curious than cautious. It's served me well so far but if that's what kills this cat in the end...well at least I'll have peeked around a few corners. So then we're all agreed?

they nod. meanwhile we see Ross forces mobilize. A Sikorsky winding up its jets. Logan heads with the soldiers to hunt Banner.

Soldier:

How are you feeling?

Logan:

Talbot and Ross come back to the rear to brief the team.

Talbot:

Banner is the target. Snipers have the point. Delta in backup. If we make it before they move we'll have two tries. If we can't take him inside, we'll try for a shot as he exits. If we can't hit him unaware before he makes the street then plainclothes will try to follow and we stand down. Under no circumstance is Banner to be engaged directly. If we can't get a shot we fall back and let him go.

Logan:

And if he goes nuclear?

Ross:

Then we'll have failed to learn from our mistakes, won't we? You've got the compact Sonics. Try to at least move him out of the city center toward the river. Then disengage. We'll follow from the air but not fight. Any questions?

Logan:

that's not a worthy rematch for me.

Talbot:

1.5 Million people within a five mile radius. You want to fight that thing here?

he sits next to Ross

Talbot:

You sure about that freak?

Ross:

I need a dog in the hunt that's not going to run from a bear if it shows up. If we do this right, I'll never have to let him off the leash.

Sterns and Betty make the preparations to 'treat' Banner. There is a table that looks disturbingly like a set-up for a lethal injection. A little bit of a Frankenstein vibe too. Betty looks around and sees a black living goo in a fish tank.

Betty:

what that thing is.

Sterns:

it's a living symbiotic organism i've been studying for a year, but forget about that, we got other issues.

Banner gives his shirt to Betty,

Banner:

Think of all the money I'll save on wardrobe if this works. If this starts to go bad, promise me you won't stay and try to help Me.

Betty is about to talk but

Bruce:

It's the worst when it starts. You have To promise me you'll run or I can't do this.

Betty nods. Sterns grabs the nylon restraints

Sterns:

If you have a strong reaction these will keep you from hurting yourself.

Banner:

If I have a strong reaction you're not going to need to worry about me.

Banner climbs on the table. Sterns tilts it back so that Banner is still at a slight angle and begins to strap him in. Sterns puts an I.V. in each of Banner's arms and legs linked to the CELL SATURATION MACHINE which he primes. A canister with the antidote and some sort of futuristic spinner or plunger to send it through his body. Then he puts contact pads connected to electrical wires on Banner's temples. And finally a plastic bite Suppressor for Banner's mouth. Banner shakes it off.

Sterns:

You ready?

Banner nods. STERNS JOLTS BANNER WITH ELECTRICITY. A lot of it. It hits him and HIS WHOLE BODY SPASMS, every muscle in his body straining against the straps, eyes clenched and then Banner eyes open wide and turn green. He begins to transform into the hulk, once he fully transforms. Now we see the full agony of it as Banner's body starts to swell and stretch and harden. We should feel the trauma of it on his bones and muscles. Sterns is staggered. Betty watches the man she loves be tortured in front of her, he howls in agony. Sterns steps closer...too close. The restraints pop like rubber bands, one of them striking Sterns who gets knocked back and dazed...The Hulk is appearing on the table, still in spasms.

Betty:

Sterns do it now.

The table starts to buckle under the weight as THE HULK continues to grow. Hulk is going to lift his head up and get seriously angry any second... but then BETTY LITERALLY JUMPS ONTO THE TABLE OVER HIM, leaning on that massive torso, looking for his eyes. Sterns hits the button and THE ANTIDOTE starts to flow into him. And slowly, painfully, THE PROCESS STARTS TO REVERSE. You can almost see the fluid moving through those massive veins and finding its way into every corner and calm the radiation fire in his blood. AND HE SHRINKS...Finally, Banner is back, lying on the buckled table with Betty Kneeling over him. She strokes his forehead. He's drenched in sweat, wrung out like a marathoner. outside Helicopters are landing. Snipers and the team hit the ground running. Talbot and Ross moving with MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS team right behind. Back on Sterns lab.

Sterns:

...the pulse came from the amygdala. I think Dr. Ross' 'primer' lets the cells absorb the energy temporarily and then it abates. That's why you didn't die of radiation sickness years ago. Now maybe we've neutralized those cells permanently or maybe we just suppressed that event. I'm inclined to think the latter because none of our test subjects had a decline in absorption capacity, but of course they were getting Gamma in MUCH lower doses externally each time... But You! It's like you've got a turbo booster in your brain. It's one of the most wonderful things I've ever seen!

Betty:

It's not wonderful for Bruce.

Sterns:

In a medical science sense, of course. You're miraculous.

Betty:

So how did you know it would work?

Sterns:

I didn't. But now that we have the data on Bruce's initial

Banner:

Wait. You said 'test subjects'. What test subjects?

Sterns gestures and they follow him to a door. Sniper teams take roof positions around Oscorp. Pointing at where Sterns lab is each team with one shooter and one spotter with a THERMAL SCANNER. Inside the lab, we see dead animals that were used as test subjects all hulked up, Banner is horrified

Banner:

What did you do to them

Sterns:

Well you didn't send me much of yourself to work with and I couldn't risk blowing the opportunity so we concentrated it and grew more. The same thing you were trying to do with the corablanca! You were my flower, see?

Banner is looking around in horror: his worst nightmare is coming true before his eyes. He has been replicated.

Stern:

A lot of the first pass didn't survive of course but as you can see we're doing much better. And we're only giving them very low-dose Gamma so no power-lifters yet but the interesting thing...

Banner:

destroy everything you made all of it,

Sterns:

Come now. Surely you must be joking. We'll share a Nobel for this, the three of us! Think of the applications. we could use this too cure multiple illness.

Banner:

It doesn't matter, it can't be Controlled...You don't know the power of what we're dealing with here!

Sterns:

We have the antidote

Meanwhile the snipers begin to target Banner as he speaks to Sterns. But Logan loses patience, he pops out his claws, jumps off the building, sticks his claws on the building and slides down, he breaks thru Oscorp, killing the guards inside. Back to the lab.

Banner:

They don't want the antidote! They want a weapon. They want it to fight for them and if they get it then we lose control of it!

Sterns is about to speak but then Banner is shot a dart on the back of his neck, he collapses.

Betty:

Bruce!

Sterns:

*Screams*

Logan bursts thru Sterns lab, Sterns screams again. Betty gets in Logan way but he shoves her aside too hard, his strength abnormal...and she is knocked five feet before hitting the ground on her arm, crying out in pain. Banner looks at him, Banner eyes are livid struggling to focus.

Logan:

Come on! COME ON! Transform and face me! face me!

Soldier:

Logan!

Logan then knocks Banner down, due to his adamantium Bones, he hurts Banner badly.

Soldier:

Banner has been captured

Ross:

Good

Talbot:

What do you want us to do with Sterns?

Ross:

I want him pinned in that lab with you. Don't let him leave the room to piss until he's identified every bottle, every box, and every machine in the place. Then package it up and get it back home. Then get aiding and abetting charges and get him turned over to us. If Banner won't give us answers maybe we can get him to.

Talbot nods and heads to Oscorp. Then the soldiers bring Banner outside. Heading to the helicopter, Betty follows the soldier, Ross stops her.

Ross:

Betty

Betty ignores him.

Ross:

He is a fugitive. He made choices and I have responsibility...

Betty:

You made him a fugitive! To cover your failures and save your career. He told me what you said to him after the accident, That's why he ran...

Ross:

His work...his blood...is the property of the United States Army and my Duty supersedes my personal feelings in this matter.

Betty:

Truth Justice and the American Way..

Ross:

Something like that.

Betty:

You have to start with Truth or the rest of it doesn't work. Don't speak to me as your daughter. Not ever again.

Ross:

the only reason she's not handcuffed is because you are my daughter.

Talbot is questioning Sterns in his lab.

Talbot:

...then it's not the same.

Sterns:

Not exactly no, but it could be better. What happened to Banner was a freak accident. We've sorted out some of the pieces but I don't think I could put together the same Humpty Dumpty just yet if you follow me...

Talbot:

I don't want to know if you can make another one I want to know if Banner's the only serious threat at the

Logan KO's Talbot by punching him hard on the back of the head. as he looks at Logan.

Sterns:

Why do you keep hitting people?!

Logan pops out his claws nearby Sterns neck.

Sterns:

What have I done to deserve this.

Logan:

It's not what your done but what your about to do

Sterns:

Well I like your use of future tense in that sentence anyway.

Logan:

I want what you got out of Banner. I want it on me, in order to take him down in a proper rematch...

Sterns:

You look like you've got a little something extra in you already, don't you...i dont know why, but i can tell its affecting you in a way.

Logan:

And so?, I just want more. Did you see what he turns into?

Sterns:

I did. It's beautiful...God-like. But I can't make you like that... I don't know what's in you...the mix could be something terrible.

Logan puts his claws back inside his body as he angrily grabs Sterns by the shirt and puts him up, as he places the claws on his left arm under Sterns neck,

Sterns:

I'm not unwilling I just need 'informed Consent'...and you've given it!

Meanwhile the Helicopter of Ross team is flying thru Hudson River. Meanwhile at Sterns lab, he have Logan lay on the thing he had Banner on, he puts tube of Banner blood in where he placed the antidote. Logan grabs an small tube where Banner blood will drain thru his blood stream, he makes a cut, places the tube on his wound before it heals, then Sterns nervously starts to press various bottoms, knocking various stuff, accidentally knocking the fishbowl with the symbiote, the alien tries to escape, but it falls on the tube where Banner blood is, the blood drains into Logan blood stream, Sterns is horrified as Logan begins to Hulk out, but suddenly Logan is covered in Black. With pointy ears, a huge mouth, big white eyes. Sterns is shoved away by the hulked out Venom Wolverine,

Sterns: What have I done?

Venom Wolverine escapes thru the windows of Oscorp. The remaining soldiers goes to investigate and chases the creature.

Soldier:

The Hulk is loose and heading to Broadway,

Ross *Radio*:

That's impossible. We have him here. Give me a live feed

A soldier actives the camera on his helmet, they seem to not able to catch a good glimpse of the creature. Ross is annoyed, Banner tries to walk toward Ross, Betty follows him. The soldiers on the ground finally get a good image of the creature its Black and muscular

Ross:

it must be Sterns.

But then at the live feed they see the creature pops out 3 claws from the knuckles of his hands as he causes havoc,

Ross:

No...It's Logan.

Banner stares at the monitor. His worst fear come to life.

Ross:

hit him with whatever they got and to try and draw him after them and get it to the river

The soldiers get A ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADE LAUNCHER, they shoot at Venom Wolverine, but Wolverine sensing it, grabs a car and uses it as a shield. Wolverine goes after them, the soldiers try to run with their vehicle in reverse. But they crash on a car behind them, Wolverine grabs a Car and smashes them with it. The live feed fuzzes out, Ross and his men can't see what's happening now. All silent,

the communicator's officer:

General, NYPD wants to know what to use against it, SAC has that A-10 in the air and ready... What do you want me to tell them? ... Sir?

Ross is frozen, there is no way to fight this monster,

Betty:

The sound waves...they stopped Bruce in the campus, maybe if.

Ross:

We need an open field of fire, there's too much down there to absorb them...too many places to hide...

Banner:

You can't stop it, it must be killed.

Ross:

He can't be killed. He can heal itself from a serious injury. we at least at least can just knock him out for a while

Banner:

Then I'll do it.

Betty:

What?, no! Like hell you are.

Banner:

I'm the only one strong enough

Ross:

Forget it, if I put you down there you won't fight, you'll run.

Bruce:

We made that thing, you and I! We've got to try something! I think you were right, it's still me. I heard you on the table calling to me and I held on...

Betty:

Do you think you can control it?

Banner:

perhaps not but maybe he can aim it.

Ross:

What if you simply makes the problem worse

Banner:

Anyone one have any better ideas because I hate this idea just as much as you do so please tell. I'd love to hear it

Ross stays silent

Ross:

We're going back to New York City. Someone remove Banner's cuffs.

Banner:

Don't land just open the doors right now.

Ross nods

Ross:

Open the door

the soldier hits the button and the huge REAR RAMP of the helicopter starts to hinge open, Bruce looks out the open door of the Chinook, the city 3000 feet below. Betty grabs Bruce by the arm.

Betty:

Don't do this. What if you don't transform

Banner:

I already did this before.

Betty:

It's risky

Banner:

We at least have to try

He takes a deep breath and falls out the door. He falls to the city, but doesn't transform.

Banner:

Crap

Banner thinks he's done for and calls to the ground. Creating a huge hole, Banner is covered in the hole. As Ross and the others watch down, hoping for sign of life, then the hands of the Hulk emerges from the ground. Venom Wolverine turns to look as the Hulk emerges.

Wolverine:

Hulk

Hulk brushes himself off and staggers for a minute. Venom Wolverine tackles him excitedly through a car. Hulk punshes Venom hard enough to send him flying. The two roar and race towards each other. The resulting impact creates shockwaves and sends the two flying. Wolverine manages to flip around and hurl Hulk through several cars. Hulk gets up and roars as Abomination races towards him. The two start exchanging blows. Buildings and vehicles get destroyed. People run in fear. Lights blow up. J. Jonah Jameson rubs his forehead as he runs.

J. Jonah Jameson:

I knew New York would be wrecked again with more of those menaces in the loose.

Ross and Betty watch from above, as the Pilot tries to stay with the fight, Venom Wolverine and Hulk keep fighting, Wolverine gets the upper hand. He bashes Hulks head into ground and throws him. However, each time Wolverine manages to injure the green giant, Hulk regenerates enraging Wolverine even more. The two engage blows again. Wolverine then hurls Hulk through a few vehicles. Hulk lands and staggers for a bit. He notices a taxi as he hears Wolverine approaching him. Hulk grabs the taxi tears it in half. He treats each half like a boxing glove as he hits Wolverine with the taxi.

Wolverine falls to the ground as Hulk keeps hitting him.

Wolverine:

that's all you got.

Wolverine then he kicks the Hulk very hard to an nearby building, Wolverine goes to investigate the building,

Ross:

shoot at Logan!

Wolverine tries to run and jumps from rooftop to rooftop to get away from Ross. Hulk who is at an alley looks up and see's Wolverine jumping, he leaps to the top of the building and chases him. Wolverine grabs a satellite dish and tosses it at the Helicopter causing it to lose control, Hulk leaps on Wolverine, as they fall alongside the helicopter. The Helicopter crash lands in a large stone plaza, so does the two monsters. People in windows and surging into the perimeter to watch. People are starting to CHEER FOR HULK. Inside the helicopter. We see Betty, Ross and other surviving soldiers trying to get out.

Betty:

Dad..

She helps her father get up, as the tank of the helicopter damaged begins to leak the gasoline out Venom Wolverine beats Hulk into a wall

Wolverine:

You've failed to end your misery!, then i will make sure i succeed on it!

He pops his now covered with symbiote claws and stabs hulk in the chest

Hulk:

Arghhhh!

but Hulk seeing Betty in the helicopter he gains more anger towards Venom Wolverine for almost killing her when he threw the satellite to the helicopter, so he pulls Venom Wolverine arm out and with all of his rage he twists it. Then he kicks Wolverine in the chest and head butts him Hulk sprints for Betty as an spark hits the gasoline causing an big fire, but then Hulk uses his hand as he claps very hard causing a huge wind that blows the fire away, he's tired, but then he's hit from behind by Venom Wolverine who is using an just chain with concrete post still attached on it using it as a mace to hit him. Hulk tries to get up but Wolverine hits him with it again. Ross and Betty watches at the fight.

Wolverine:

Say your last words!

But then Hulk ups quickly, puts his arm up

Hulk:

HULK SMASH!

He hits his fits on the ground causing it to crack, Wolverine steps on the crack and loses balance as the Chain falls off his hand and lands on his neck, Hulk grabs the chains and uses it to choke Wolverine, Wolverine keeps fighting, but Hulk keeps grabbing the chain, Wolverine loses all energy, Hulk nearly chokes him to death

Betty:

Bruce stop

Hulk calms down, as he lays the tired Venom Wolverine on the ground, but then he puts his feet on the chest of Wolverine and roars, he kicks the defeated Wolverine to Ross,

Ross:

call Nick Fury.

Betty looks at Hulk.

Betty:

Bruce it's all over, its okay...

Hulk looks at her.

Hulk:

Betty

but then the moment is ruined as another helicopter shows up and Hulk runs away, Hulk then goes underwater and is not seen ever again.

Ross sits in a bar, mid-afternoon. He lifts his drink to his lips, catches his reflection In a mirror behind the bar, meanwhile at NYC, Betty stands by a railing overlooking the river and the New York Harbor. When she gets call from Samson

Samson:

Oh, thank god. You're alright? When I couldn't reach you...

Betty:

I'm fine really, but many other aren't fine

Samson:

I know, it's been all over the TV. It doesn't seem real.

Betty:

it was real

Samson:

come home please

Betty:

Maybe. I have to ask though. Did you call somebody the night Bruce was at our home, is this why they came for him

Samson:

I did. I'm sorry. I was afraid for myself and you. Please forgive me.

Betty:

I do but I'm not coming home yet. I want some time alone

Samson:

I understand

they hang up. As she looks out at the harbor and tries to imagine where Bruce is...

Date: August 16, 2011.

In a remote location, Banner looks at the forest, he enters his cabin. He walks to a tidy desk and takes out an envelope from the drawer. He has something in his hand... its Betty's mother's necklace. He slides it into the envelope and writes her name on it.

Later we see Bruce meditating, he takes a deep breath as he his eyes turns green and he grins.

POST CREDIT SCENE #1:

in SHIELD The Vault base, we see Fury talking to an Agent as they put the Unconscious mutated Logan in a room made for him,

Agent:

based on studies we did, the Mutant was injected with the Super Soldier serum twice, then Bruce Banner blood and an symbiote life form mixed on his blood streams,

Fury:

will he be okay?.

Agent:

yes, based on studies the mutant have an healing factor and slowly Banner irradiated blood is being eliminated from his blood stream by his healing factor, the symbiotic life form is also consuming any trace of the super soldier serum and the irradiated blood, the Mutant will be fine soon, but it may take at least a couple of years.

Fury:

we will keep Logan in quarantine until he's been cured and once he's cured we will have the symbiote removed from his blood stream completely.

The Agent nods.

POST CREDIT SCENE #2:

Date: September 3, 2011.

Location: In the Artic,

the snow is blowing everywhere, then Coulson and a fellow SHIELD agent meet with a guy in the artic,

Guy:

Are you the agents from Washington DC?

Coulson:

We are. what happened

Guy:

We found something here about 10 hours ago.

Agent:

how come nobody spotted this before

Guy:

it's not surprising as that the landscape changes here all the time.

Agent:

So was it a water balloon what was found

Guy:

Agent:

When will you start craning it out

Guy:

You don't understand, for this we got to need an hell of a crane

then the 3 guys sees an crashed aircraft from the 1940s, frozen in ice as they stare in awe. then they use an laser machine to make a hole so they can enter it, Coulson and the agent investigate the aircraft, then Coulson looks at something, he's in shock at what he just found,

Coulson:

Oh Gosh...

He grabs a radio and calls Fury.

Fury *Radio*:

Coulson it's three in the morning

Coulson:

I don't care what hour it is, we found him and he has waited long enough to be found and you have waited long enough to find him

As Coulson keeps staring at an circle shield with an star in its center, it's the shield of Captain America.
