Studying?
"There, there," cooed Kenshin as if talking to a child, "That tea should lessen the headache."
Hiko's response was a grumbled negative, but he sipped the tea anyways. The older man was shirtless and his mane of black hair was disheveled.
"What happened Shishou? Why are you drinking?"
Hiko sipped some more tea before replying. "I'm studying."
The way he said it…dry and annoyed made a fine eyebrow rise on the younger detective. He had never seen his Master studying…much less interested in something with such fervor. He got like this only a few times…when Tomoe made one of her cynical and cold rejections. To be honest, he loved to see the woman turn his Master down once in a while. He deserved it…he was very mean when he was a child. It was payback…sort of, Karma. "What are you studying?"
Hiko shrugged his shoulders pitifully, "I went to Tomoe's house," the raven haired man ignored Kenshin's obvious grin, "And asked her father for information about…Espers." Hiko grinned when he observed how Kenshin's mocking grin faded.

Kenshin sat on the leather couch in his Master's apartment and sipped some mint coffee. He studied some papers he was holding while Hiko stood at the window observing the darkening colors of sunset. He knew Hiko was in deep thought and somehow…this didn't help his own worries.
"Did you know Espers do not age?" Hiko shared slowly, "Well, they reach 'maturity' and then stop aging."
Kenshin sighed and pushed the papers next to him away and took a more comfortable position on the couch. "Kaoru told me."
"Kaoru, Kaoru," Hiko half sang and then a smirk settled on his handsome face, "She's so innocent."
At this odd comment Kenshin's eyes moved back to his sensei, "What do you mean?" the red-haired mage asked suspiciously.
Hiko turned to Kenshin with a smirk, his eyes had bags under, proof of his long study sessions, "Did you know humans didn't possess magic at the beginning of time?"
Kenshin fell silent at this. He knew Hiko wanted to say something…but he wasn't sure what that was. He didn't want to interrupt either.
Uncaring of Kenshin's lack of response Hiko continued. "Then Tomoe happened."
"Tomoe?" asked Kenshin, now confounded. "Where does she fit in here?"
Hiko chuckled darkly, in a very pleasing manner, "The union between Human and Esper."
AN: Life is being mean to me! =_=
