Chapter 35
A few days later, Madison was in the kitchen making something quite tasty. Daryl had come in from farm work to get something to eat, so he was bugging her while Noah was having belly time on the floor in the living room. Bugging her as in, hugging her close, nuzzling her neck and even nipping her earlobe.
"I ain't gonna get done any time faster with ya bugging at me, and trying to pick the food. Cause then it'll be gone before you can even sit down and enjoy it with me." Madison growled trying to smack his hand away from the stove which held a pan of deep fried chicken, homemade instead of store bought. "And here I thought the baby was impossible to cook with!" She mumbled under her breath, shaking her head as she would stir up the large bowl of pasta salad, her summer favorite. It was jam packed with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and pepperoni with an sprinkle of mixed cheese for the last finishing touch.
What they thought, was that both dogs were outside, when in fact Kitchi had snuck inside when the door was closing. He was quiet when he wanted to be. The wolf pup had strolled over to Noah, who was looking up and squirming about. Kitchi sniffed over his face and Noah smiled with a small happy squeal. Mads looked over to check on him, but thanks to the end table she didn't see him.
Daryl laid his hand on her hip and leaned to whisper something with a grin. It was at this time that Kitchi licked Noah's face. A small giggle erupted from the infant, which made Kitchi back up a little, making the baby try to squirm after him.
Madison's hands slipped around Daryl's as she tried to wiggle herself free from his grasps, playing hard to get with whatever whisper he was about to tickle her ear with. The squealing of Noah made her heart jump and race quickly, as it was a sound that reminded her of how much she loved her simple small but stressed life with Daryl.
Daryl saw the movement and smiled, "Honey . . ." He whispered, and pointed over to the little boy. Kitchi backed up more, making Noah squirm harder after him. He was even using more of his arms and legs, slowly but surely crawling towards the pup.
Glancing over as he pointed it out, Madison watched as their son would try to crawl, though it was more of a wiggling and pushing himself across the small gap. Giving a grunt as Kitchi would slip back more, with his maw reaching forward to lap over the baby's cheek and forehead. Before doing the small job of licking at Noah's lips, and started to get into his mouth as the baby would give a toothless grin.
"Okay gross." She whispered under her breath, even though she was smiling, and slipped away from Daryl to go into the living room, scooping Noah up into her arms. "No doggie mouth kisses." Her soft hand lightly wiped the baby/dog drool off his lips. "But oh my good gosh! You're trying to crawl." She cooed in praise, giving him tickling kisses against his cheeks and ears, making the baby giggle in her arms. "Stop growing up. Go slower." She pleaded with him as his forehead landed on the side of her cheek, nuzzling against her gently.
Love and pride warmed his chest, that it was sticking out. It felt so big in his chest that it felt like he would explode. "Us Dixons, we learn fast." He grinned and joined them. He couldn't help but feel proud of his son. He kissed the boy's temple, and hugged Madison close. "I couldn't ask for anything more . . . I'm a lucky man." He murmured softly and squeezed them gently.
Madison made an small smile as she lent into him pecking at Noah's cheek again. "Well that's a good thing. Cause with any luck Noah will be the only Dixon left to carry it on." She nodded with a smile. "Cause everyone hopes that Merle isn't gonna pass on them genes of his." She teased softly offering Noah off to his father. "I'll pack up the lunch and we can go eat it outside. To nice of a day to spend inside, and I made enough for everyone working."
Once Daryl would take him she would start loading up a basket she had sitting on the table. Putting the warm food on the bottom and packing everything else on the top.
He chuckled and had to agree with her. But he wouldn't be surprised if Merle did have a kid out there. He slept around so much, when he could at least. He took Noah and sat down on the floor with him. Smiling, he goofily played with his son, Kitchi right at his knee and helping.
When he saw she was ready, he asked if she prepared a bottle for Noah, then got up when she confirmed it to join her. He was now carrying Noah much like a football. Noah was happy to see this world this way as he happily gurgled and slobbered all over his fist.
Greene's had a nice set up in their yard near the barn for eating outside, as well as fit for their cookout parties. There was a nice large wooden picnic table fit with a umbrella, and fire pit not to far from them. It was also close to the pond's dock.
Madison sat the basket down onto the table, leaning over the top of it to get the umbrella rolled up to get the sun away from their faces, and to protect Noah. It might have been almost the middle of February but the heat was strong oddly enough.
"Normally this place is alot better in the summer, since the trees ya know, have leaves on them." She commented as she started to unpack their food, and supplies to eat with.
"That's okay . . . We got the umbrella . . ." He commented with a smile. It was a beautiful day. Thanks to weird Georgia weather, they were able to have it in the beginning of February.
He laid the boppy that he brought with him on the one side of the table they were using and placed Noah on there. Still drooling happily away, the light blue eyes looked around, curious of his surroundings. Daryl grabbed some food, and began to eat. He was terribly hungry from all the work he'd already did.
Madison plopped herself into the seat next to him, grabbing a soda can from the basket to sit next to him before grabbing her own to open. "Can't wait til it's really nice and warm out here all the time, starting to be sick of being stuck indoors all the time. Plus Noah will be able to enjoy it more since he'll be older, hopefully a little more mobile." She smiled at the baby, whom was gazing down at his thumb with much thought.
"How is work going? Gonna be done anytime soon?" She questioned, but then a soft frown pressed on her lips. "We aren't gonna be able to do this again soon." She spoke in a soft whisper, "Since ya start your new job soon . . . And it's in town so you can't come back home for lunch anymore." Madison knew she was acting a bit immature over the matter, but she was so used to him being around almost 24-7. "I almost wish you'll start doing things to make me mad so I can be alright with you leaving for so long." She chuckled glancing back at him.
"Ight?" He asked with a bite of his sandwich in his mouth. He smiled with a blush, chewed a little more, swallowed and tried again. "Right?" He laughed softly.
He took a drink and looked back over at her. "About another hour's worth of work and I'll be done for the day." He realized that she was right and made his lips twitch down. "Damn . . . Didn't think of it. And hey now . . . Don't jinx it." He smirked and pulled her in close to kiss her temple.
The redhead purred gently as he kissed her cheek tilting her head off as she cuddled up closer to him, turning heads to allow her forehead to press on his. "Ya missed, Huntsmen." She whispered before lightly pecking him on the cheek with her soft palm caressing up his arm. The tender moment was quickly ended as Noah started to fuss, as if he knew that he was being left out of something. Even if he didn't know what the something was. Madison gave a small sigh glancing at Daryl one more time before looking over at his son. "Just like your Uncle Merle now." She huffed shifting into her seat better facing the boppy as her hands picked up the crying baby to sit him up in her lap, kissing the top of his soft head while his hands started to hit and beat on the table. "Please learn nothing else from him." She giggled a bit hugging him closer.
He smirked as she teased him. Daryl looked over as Noah whined softly. His lips twitched up at this into a bigger smile. He couldn't help it. Even if Noah ruined the sweet moment, he only reminded him he was blessed with an amazing son. He laughed softly as she commented about not being like Daryl's brother. "Yeah . . . God forbid it if ya did learn anything else from him."
Madison went back to enjoying her lunch with Daryl with the help of Noah trying to grab at her sandwich. When she would hold it up out of his reach the baby gave a hard unhappy grunt hitting his hands against the table before squealing and babbling about in frustration. As if he was yelling at her to share. "Well then," She chuckled a bit as he would try to worm himself free of her arm making her shift him around onto her hip before tossing the rest of her sandwich to the dogs. "We're going into the barn, so you can eat in peace." She smiled leaning to give Daryl a small peck on the cheek after she stood up.
Shaking his head, he stuffed his face some more with the delicious food she had made. He couldn't help but laugh softly as Noah was making things difficult for her. "Soon buddy . . ." He rumbled out and ruffled Noah's soft fine blonde hair. "You'll be able to eat some good stuff, I'm sure Mama Wren will give ya good stuff." He looked up at her as she stood, feeling the chilly still wintery wind pick up and whip around them. "I say we go in because of that." He said with a chuckle and gathered up their stuff. Once gathered, he followed her to the barn. Once there he laid it out again, so they could continue to to eat their lunch. The soft whicker and whinny could be heard from the horses as he picked up a bag of chips to munch on.
Madison felt her heart skip an beat with an swell proud smile forming against her lips while shifting Noah down into the play pen they set up in the office, so he could come into the barn with them when no one could baby sit. "Can't really wait till I can start feeding him. Noah is pretty lucky to cause around that time all the fruits and vegetables will be fresh out of the gardens around the farm." She answered as she pushed the playpen a little closer to the door so that Noah would be able to look out and see what they was doing in the aisle of the barn. "Though picking season is a pain in the behind and takes hours." She groaned moving down to shut the large barn door to keep the cool wind out.
As normal Madison pushed the rest of her meal onto Daryl, cause for as much as she liked to cook, the girl hardly ever seemed to have much of a appetite. Noah softly babbled while having an intense staring contest with one of the stuffed ducks he had in his play pen adding to the noises in the barn.
Madison put her hands against her hips shaking her head, "Look at this place." She huffed, noticing a few of the over turned buckets as well as tons of sawdust laying in the aisle, and piles of hay. "Swear this place can't run without me in it. Because I happen to be stuck working with two men." She looked stern and serious while her tone was airful and playful. "No more days off for me I see..Hershel would kill us if he would see the place the way it is." Madison looked over at Daryl grabbing a hold of the broom to sweep. "Or maybe this job is left for me all the time cause you men like to watch me have to bend over and scoop it into the tray?" She teased looking at him with a hard smirk.
He noticed the proud smile on her lips and grinned. "Very true. He is lucky, but we aren't because of the picking." He chuckled and took another bite of his sandwich. He noticed that she didn't eat that much and frowned and let it go and continued to eat. He looked the place over and then to her, wondering why it was such a big deal. It would only take a few minutes but didn't say anything. His brows went up as she teased him. "I know I enjoy the view . . ." He grinned, eating the last of the pasta salad. He grabbed hold of the broom as she passed him and looked up at her. "I know what I can do with this . . . I can sweep you off your feet." He teased with a grin. He knew it was cheesy, but he couldn't help it.
With that said, he grabbed a hold of her wrist and pulled her down so he could place a hot kiss on her lips.
"And I know for a fact your brother enjoys it because that's just the type of person he is. A Dixon. Cause ya had to learn it somewhere." She teased with a wink, sweeping the dust and hay into small piles along the aisle way as she scooted along. A soft shocked squeal left her lips as Daryl would grab an hold of her broom, causing a small blush on her face while her chest was beating rapidly with her eyes a bit wide.
"I could kick your ass." She whispered as he pulled her into him and met her lips into his own as they started to kiss. Her hand left the stick of the broom to grip onto the back of his neck, fingers tangling into his hair while the other gripped the front of his shirt tugging herself into his arms more.
"Like ya would want to . . ." He pulled away just to murmur then trail hot possessive kisses down her jaw. His hand tightened around the curve of her hip as lust swept over him. Making his body hot and hard practically instantly. Only she did this to him. Yeah, sure, he may have seen prettier girls, but he never reacted to them like he did his red head. She was beautiful through and through in his eyes. He only wanted her.
His other hand slid up her back, his fingers deftly undoing her bra easily. His hand slid over to the front of her to cup the sweet mound he freed. His rough thumb grazed the peak of her breast to make it pebble up, as his mouth nibbled at her earlobe.
Madison made an soft giggle tilting her head off to one side as he ran his lips down her jawline with her hips pressing forward into his own. "Nah . . . I'll find otherways to punish you my dear." She winked pressing her lips to the side of his head, a grin plastered on her lips.
Her teeth raked onto her lower lip as she felt her bra give way and breasts wiggle free, his skilled hands having a play of that jail break. Daryl didn't need much work to have her pebbled as she was already half way there with his lips on her neck, and when he started on her earlobe other things started to happen. "Baby." She whimpered in a soft moan pressing into him harder.
The two of them was so distracted in each other that they didn't even hear the barn door open again. "What on earth are those dirty creatures doing?!" Echoed an overly shrill high pitched voice that made Madison jump into Daryl more, trying to hide herself. Madison could only guess the strange lady was talking about their dogs so she looked away from Daryl to the playpen. "Jesus Christ you two." Madison whispered finding Kitchi sitting in the playpen with Noah, him now growling softly at the stranger, while Nova was taking straw and stuffing it into the playpen over top of the baby. Madison pulled away from Daryl quickly rescuing Noah, pulling some of the straw from his hands and stuck in his hair. "Silly puppies." She chuckled as Noah was grinning ear to ear. Since the playtime was over Nova started to bark heavily at the new person but finding herself hiding behind Daryl to do it while Kitchi was more bolder as he jumped out of the baby's play pen and trotted up to the woman.
He was grinding into her, losing some of his control with that moan of hers, and was just about to do away with her jeans when he heard the stranger's voice. He stilled, wondering who the hell it was. Brows furrowing in confusion, he straightened her shirt up so she was somewhat presentable. He felt her leave his lap and instantly felt cold and empty and wanted to glare at the bitch who interrupted them. He blinked and looked over at the play pen and frowned. Damn dogs, he thought as he straightened himself up and stood, only to have Nova hiding behind him.
He looked over at the woman and frowned. It was no one he knew, and just by looking at her, knew he instantly didn't like. Her steely gaze was hard and seemed cold. Her blonde turning silver hair was pulled tight into a severe bun, her gaze hawk like behind thin glasses. She wore a light grey suit that seemed tailored to her tall thin frame. She wore a disgusted look on her face as she gazed about. Seemed almost horrified to find the baby in the barn, let around two canines.
Madison held Noah closer to herself as he clung just as tighter onto her as the two of them stood behind Daryl, Nova still mushed between them barking lowly. "Can I help you? This is a private farm." Madison said with her eyes a little narrow, people in suits was never a good thing. In her mind she figured it could have been someone from the bank, or even worse. Oil people. "Unless you own one of these horses, which I know you don't because I know everyone that owns one. You need to go to the big house or leave." Yeah okay. Maybe Madison was being a little rude but she found the woman to be twice that. Calling her fur babies dirty creatures, and had to be so appalled that they was playing with Noah . . . Like they always did!
Kitchi sniffed the woman till she was backed into the doorway of the barn again even if his tail was at a half wag but still keeping himself alerted to the stranger. Didn't help with Daryl and Madison's vibes either. He didn't like this woman because his people didn't either. "I'm Anita Sterling with the Child Protective Services of Macon County. Was looking for the parents and child of Noah Dixon, and no one was answering at the farm house." She explained and the explanation had Madison clinging to their son even harder.
"Why are you here?" She asked, quickly having a free hand reach onto the back of Daryl's arm only to squeeze it some as worry and fear wracked her system. Why would CPS just show up? They never did anything wrong with Noah, nor did they break any of the rules that was set up in court, if anything, CPS needed to go over to Brittany's place. She didn't follow the rules.
The woman straightened herself a little, fixing her bag around her shoulder, glaring at the teenagers in front of her. "Unless you are his mother, that is of no concern of yours. But that tells me this is the child in question, outside on a cool day in a dirty environment."
Madison huffed now feeling her own face flush up hard, but in temper. The heat of a strong temper. "I'm his mother . . . sorta." She explained with a little tone. "Secondly he is bundled up for the cool weather but just because it's cold out don't mean he needs to be cooped up in the house all day. Also this environment isn't dirty, just because animals live in it. This 'environment' is a vet clinic, meaning its sterile as could be."
"Sorta his mother?" Ms. Sterling interrupted, pushing her glasses up onto her nose better giving the young girl a hardy glare again. "What does 'Sorta his mother' mean?"
Daryl glared at the women and let Mads have her say with her. But it was at this time he couldn't take it anymore. "She is his mother. She may not have given birth to him, but she is more his mother than his real one." He practically growled out, stepping forward, his hand now tangled with Madison's to give her strength.
"And you are?" She asked coldly, not liking his answer.
"I'm Noah's father." Daryl answered curtly.
She looked down on them for a moment before finally answering Madison's question. "Someone had called about Noah being in danger. From this so called mother and wolf she keeps."
"What?!" Madison barked out loudly, startling Noah a bit causing him to frown but still sought her for the comfort as he whimpered. "Where was CPS three, four months ago when his fucking birth mother was pumping god damn drugs into her arm!? Almost killing him!" Yeah, the rude harsh temper was NOT playing well in their favor but this was just . . . Outrageous! "Me? The dangerous one? The one that gave him a home, the one that feeds him and makes sure that he is safe at night. Gives him all the attention and love a baby needs. Make sure he has clothes on . . . Didn't drag him out in the middle of the night on a cold and SNOWY night because SHE didn't know what the hell she was doing with him. Not forgetting letting him get a fever SO badly that it could have killed him. But I'm the dangerous one?" Madison shook her head as she walked down the aisle to move past the woman, wishing SO damn badly to kick her off the property for good. But she didn't want the risk of having their son taken away. "You can do the fucking question shit on my porch, stay outta my damn house." She barked knowing that the woman would have to come in away, but Madison would fight it. The way she stormed off had Kitchi glance up at the stranger to make a little growl before running after the redhead, leaving Daryl behind with the CPS lady.
Ms. Sterling just watched the young woman with such shock of how she was treated, though it was quite normal in her line of work. But this was the first she had been treated in such a manner that made her feel comfortable, honestly. This was the first time she had to make the first call, normally didn't come till the third or fourth visit. "She always have such a belittling temperament? Think its good for a child to hear such language?" She asked the child's father now, clearly already judging him . . . She knew the Dixon name. Everyone did of course.
He didn't blame Mads, but wished she would have kept more . . . collected. This woman could take Noah away and neither one of them wanted that. "Towards the birth mother? Yes, cause she deserves it. Every damn word of it is true. Brittany is a drug addict, still is . . . Again, Madison Jenner is more of a mother to my boy than Brittany ever was in ten minutes. With Madison, I don't have to worry about Noah. I don't have to wonder if I'll ever see him again. Or that she'll feed him, change him . . ." As he said these things, he advanced on her, to punctuate his words. "Brittany is scum. All she brings is misery, for she is a selfish addict. And if you want proof of that addiction, drug test her. I promise you, it'll be positive. And if you want proof that Madison isn't a drug addict, test her. You wont find anything in her, another promise I give ya. Go ahead . . . dare ya on both of them." He growled and stepped away only to exit the barn.
He turned back to her as he thought of something. "Noah's not even three months yet . . . He don't understand what the hell is being said, so I don't care what she says. Cause you know what pisses me off . . . Why give a horrible mother . . . no. I fucking INCUBATOR . . . a wonderful child. So she could destroy that life? Let alone the lives that try to take care of that child? Ain't fuckin' right lady." His pale eyes then dropped down and he whistled. Nova ran past the woman and to his heel. "I trust my dogs to care for my son, more than Noah's birth mother." And with that, he turned away to head back to the house.
After a few steps of going to his home, he turned back to call out, "You coming to check our place or what?" He wasn't happy about it, but he couldn't stop her either. Well, he could. But it would look bad for the both of them. Just easier to let her do her job and figure it out on her own, that they aren't the ones lying.
Soft mutters and whispers droned out from Madison's mouth as she busied herself with Noah, getting him out of his jacket and whatever else they got him into before they went outside for the afternoon. Her cheeks was a battle ground of wet as she had tears running from the humiliation, the anger, and the down right . . . Frustration. Over someone doing this to them, not someone of course, it was two nosey fucking bitches that couldn't leave well enough alone. Couldn't fucking understand that she wasn't gonna get the happy family life with Daryl because MADISON was getting that. Mads stuck Noah into the bouncer while flipping the TV onto some kids show so that he could have a little bit of noise and music to listen with, instead of hearing them deal with the stuck up government bitch.
The two of them was lucky that they barely spent much time in the house as they was basically an outside family, not forgetting that they spent a lot of time running and doing errands for the old man in the big house. The only things out of place was the few dog toys the canines played with, a few outfits of Noah's sitting on the armchair of Daryl's chair, and of course the mess left behind from when Madison made them lunch. She knew better then to try and 'fix' anything as they would thing they was 'staging' the place, after the many and countless times Madison had gone through this shit before. Madison knew how this worked, she knew how they would always look bad and that Brittany could be the shining light for Noah. As she was the birth mother, and as she was trying to live 'sober'. Madison knew this to damn fucking well that it brought so much shit that she tried so hard to forget.
For once in their life together, Madison was the brooding one. And brooding hard.
had glanced towards the big farm house as they passed by, pondering why they weren't going inside of that place? Wasn't that their home? It looked like the picture book family home something that could be a good check for this child, but the appearance of both his parents. Let alone their age, guess she was hopeful wishing. When she first came to the property she swore that the house he was taking her to was more of a work shop then a real house, as it didn't really seem much of a house to her. Besides the typical front porch and door/window set up. "If I'm correct that this is also a minor living under this roof, while your also . . . nineteen?" She questioned pulling out her pad and pen from her bag. "Is this her parent's farm?"She questioned now looking at the young man. "Kinda questionable on this relationship as seeing your overage."
When she began to follow, he continued on. He slowed down so when he reached the door, she was just a few feet away from him. The muscles in his jaw tightened so that his teeth were ground together when she asked her question. Of course she would bring it up. Of fucking course. Just they're damn luck. He licked his lips, his anger burning hotter, promising himself that when Brittany next had Noah, he was gonna call this bitch and send her the fuck over there so she could finally work and in their damn favor.
"Turned nineteen in November . . ." He smiled sweetly at her. "But yes, Madison is a minor, but also legally emancipated from her parents. And no, this definitely isn't her parent's place. This is Hershel Greene's farm. He's a family friend of hers. He let's her rent this place and work here. I work here as well." Grinding his teeth some more, he let the overage thing go.
"Please, come in . . ." He said sarcastically, and opened the door. Kicking off his shoes, Nova darted past him in a reddish brown blur as he set his shoes aside. He saw Mads had gotten started on cleaning the kitchen, Noah was sucking on his hand, gently bouncing, with Kitchi warming his feet. Kitchi's ears were twisting and moving this way and that, as the cartoon that played was a claymation and made all kinds of weird noises. It was called Mio Mao from Baby First TV, it was about two curious cats discovering animals and things.
wrote down his answers while flicking a few boxes on her pad while they walked into the house, pausing only to take in the site of the place. It was an small place fitting for a starting couple but with the added animals it made her feel like it was crowding; which it would be for the type of people that sat inside all the time. But sitting on your ass wasn't apart of living on a farm . . . Ever.
"I'll need to see the paper work on that to assure what your telling me is the truth, also need to speak with this Mr. Greene." That made Madison smirk a little as she stuffed the left overs into the fridge. Hershel would do nothing but praise the two of them as well as any other damn Greene on this farm. The Greene's was her family, their family. "I notice the overly large lack of baby proofing in this house? Nothing covered or corners of your hard surfaces covered."
Madison sighed rubbing the corner of her temple some, finally breaking her own silence. "Don't need them. We're always with him if he is on the floor. I'm always with him when we are at home. It's apart of raising a baby last time I checked. Don't need to proof my house to keep my baby safe, if he gets into something. When he does, I'll be right there to stop him and secondly . . . These 'dangerous' dogs keep him safe as well." She air quoted, glancing over to watch Kitchi roll onto his back as Nova pounced on top of him, rowdily playing, making Noah grin and giggle softly. "Hershel won't be back in today, left on a call for another farm. His family isn't home either, most likely in town. Want to talk to them as well since they baby sit for us when we work, and go to school. They're basically his grandparents." Madison said proudly, since they was. "Also don't need to see shit on my personal and private business relating to my emancipation. You're here for Noah, not me."
"Let's be honest lady . . . Does he really look unhappy to you? Under fed? Abused in anyway?" Madison asked, leaning against the archway of the kitchen. "For a premature baby he is twice the weight and size he should be for his age. If you wanna see a truly unhappy and uncared for Noah Dixon, please take him to his mother's house. You'll quickly see whom he prefers to be around. Because we're the only parents that are willing to be in his life."
Her lips tightened in a line, not liking how Madison was talking to her, but expected it as well. She sighed and continued to look about. "If you want to continue to see Noah Dixon, you will give me those papers. Considering he is living with you, Ms. Jenner. So it does concern you and him. Can I get 's number so I can call him when he is in?" She looked down at the playful dogs. The dark one seemed quite large and had some questionable features for a regular dog. Her grey eyes behind her glasses narrowed at this and she brought it up, "What type of dog is the darker one?"
Daryl sighed, again of course she would bring up Kitchi. "Noah ain't even crawling yet, so why would we have to bother baby proof yet?" He then looked over at Mads, not sure how to answer her about Kitchi. "We're not completely sure. Think he's a mutt. Found him in the woods as a pup. Didn't want the little guy to suffer and die, so brought him in." He lied easily. Didn't want to lose Kitchi, especially when he did listen and was a good dog, even though he was full wolf.
Madison rubbed the side of her temple drawling in an deep cool breath of air before allowing her lungs to exhale, surely there was a cigarette just awaiting for her after this. Maybe even a nice stiff drink if she could get her way. "Few things before I answer all this. First off, my name is , not Ms. I'm not married, yet. Also Nova, the red small one, is also a few months younger not forgetting that a female. Kitchi is older while also being a full blown male, he is bigger then her in length and paw size, she has him beat by mass. Neither dog's are small for their ages. If you're gonna get onto my dogs, please understand that Nova is also a German Shepherd to, a breed that has been labeled dangerous for years and years now. If you can see neither of them ever do any harm to our son ever." The two pups was clearly distracted in each other as they rolled around on the floor, soft growls and yips as the did so until Kitchi rolled Nova under him, pinning her front left leg awkwardly causing a shriek of a yelp making Kitchi and Noah jump in fear. Kitchi cause he hurt his friend and Noah because it scared him. But the second the baby started to whimper from his jolt, Kitchi scooted himself along the carpet till he could plop his head against the baby's legs, easily quieting him once more. Nova on the other hand plopped over to Daryl panting heavily. "Pardon me while I get them papers." She spoke slipping away from her boyfriend and the rude CPS bitch.
It took her a few minutes since Madison had hid a lot of their important papers and extra just in case money under Daryl's guns and cross-bow in their closet. "He isn't a dog. We own an wolf that I have records on." Madison said after Daryl, dropping the things needed onto the table, everything from her emancipation papers down to the papers for the dogs; not forgetting the start of paper work so that Madison could adopt Noah but their lawyer had the real hard copies. "He has papers and I have an license to keep him." That was a fact that was unknown from everyone but Madison and Hershel, as Hershel agreed to let the pup stay after Madison nursed him back to health. "The Warden that came to meet Kitchi had nothing but praise for how we raised him, and had no problems approving me."
Daryl was watching the dogs, so when Nova yipped, he didn't jump as bad. He looked over at Ms. Sterling which was looking at Noah and the dogs. Her piercing eyes then landed on him. It was an awkward moment as she got the papers, but Daryl with stood it. Even though a bead of sweat dropped down his back, feeling like it was taking forever. But when Mads said Kitchi wasn't a dog, he blinked, surprised she was obviously giving Kitchi up. But he was also surprised she got those papers. Maybe it was for the best?
Ms. Sterling was surprised that the wolf rumor was true. She took the papers and glanced down at them. "A wolf is still a wild animal Miss Jenner. Wild is very dangerous. He may be tame now, but what happens if little Noah, when he starts walking, stomps on his tail? He could bite him, worse, maim him." She still couldn't believe they were keeping a wild animal here. With a child!
Madison made a hard long sigh running her fingers into her red hair, making it even more devilish then before. "In all due respect, Ms. Sterling. I happen to know a bit more about the behavior and patterns of animals more than yourself. I've been working under for sometime now and have grown up on this farm with his girls. He has taught me everything and that man is a VERY highly decorated veterinarian. Wolves are far from dangerous if you know how to respect them, and all of us do. Kitchi respects us and WE respect him. Besides that, he has never had the taste of the wild as he was never raised in his own kind before, in his mind he is a dog just like Nova. It would have been different if we had found him much older then we did, but he was barely weeks old. Eyes just starting to open. Kitchi would NEVER be able to survive in the wild on his own because of that . . . ever." She held her hand up before or Daryl could say something as she wasn't done. "I ain't saying he isn't dangerous, because he is. To strangers or people trying to harm us. Yes, he will growl, yes he will bark. Those are his warnings. But he wouldn't ever bite unless it came from his mouth." That's when Madison laid her finger on Daryl's arm. "Kitchi nor Nova are here as just pets of the family, they also serve as a mean of protection for our family and the farm we live on. So yes, none of them are friendly to outsiders. It's why neither of them came to you to be pet on."
She made a hard snort now, shaking her head. "If you can say that about him then you could say it also about Nova. She is a German Shepherd, also an intact bitch which is also gonna make her twice the aggressive dog later on. She could easily turn and 'bite' or 'maim' my child too. But look at where we live? Look how small our house is and the fact that they lay around in a barn all day with 1000 pound animals. Don't think they get stepped on? Shoved? Pushed around? They get put through it all and plus that, on a daily bases. Hell, Noah already grabs and pulls on their ears to put in his mouth, they do nothing but cry a small bit before pulling away. When they do, the both of them instantly start sucking up to us thinking they did something WRONG to Noah." Madison looked into the living room watching her two boys together. "I trust my wolf with our son better then I would trust you any day." And that was a pure fact. "Say what you will, but there are no signs of an unruly aggressive animal here, you have no proof of it either."
A long curved elegant eyebrow rose on Anita Sterling's face as Mads stood up for them, for the dogs. Even Daryl was surprised and very proud. She knew her stuff, and was glad that she did. Cause if it was left up to him, he would have said something stupid already. But screwed them over twice too. Another swell of pride hit him when she said Noah was hers. He might as well be with how much time, attention and love she gave Noah. Love swelled up in him, bright and huge. It felt like that's all he could feel, and just watch in awe as she told off the CPS woman off.
Ms. Sterling's cheek grew red with controlled anger. With narrowed eyes, she quietly and firmly said, "You'll hear back from me. I need Mr. Greene's number." She clutched the papers that Madison gave her, and stood there waiting with indignation. Daryl wrote it down quickly on a yellow pad and ripped it off and gave it to her.
Madison rolled her eyes, leading the woman to the door which she held open quickly, making both dogs bolt out fast to go play as they would always favor playing outside on a nice day over staying inside. "And you'll hear from me if I don't get any of my papers back. Those are the only copies I got. Would put up more of a fight for them now, but if it makes sure that Noah stays with us, whatever. But you got your number, now get out of my house." Madison said, pointing the way out for her, not backing down one bit.
She made a little 'hfmph' noise in anger before marching her wide behind out the door, "I'll have them mailed back to you as soon as I can." The woman replied in the worst bitch tone Madison ever heard. But no reply came but the door slamming in her face was given.
Madison remained quiet as she shuffled around the couch to plop down onto the floor next to Noah in his bouncer, sitting on her knees. Her hand rested on his belly with her fingers giving him an little caress, the baby just smiling back with his own little hands grabbing at her fingers. "I . . . I can't take this shit anymore with her Daryl. I cant." She sniffled a little bit not wanting to look up at him.
"Good fuckin' riddance." He rumbled and sighed, now wanting a cigarette and badly. Just as she was sinking down in front of Noah's bouncer that he found his pack of cigarettes and grabbed two up. He was trying to light them, when she spoke. He looked at her and his heart sank. And horribly. Did that mean she was done? Like done with him? Done with Noah? Done with everything?
His heart felt like it was being crushed in his chest. He swallowed the lump in his throat and dared not approach her right now. "Are you saying what I think your saying?" He drawled out tightly. He tried not to let his emotions show, but his face was tight, and his eyes were glittering with anguish.
Madison shot him an hard look as if he would even dare think that, as if that was even a choice for them anymore. He was easy to read on what he was thinking since his body language changed completely. "Don't know, maybe your the one thinking of it, since YOU just brought it up Daryl." She said with a shrug, "Because I said I couldn't take the shit with her anymore. Meaning Brittany and her god awful way of trying to win you back."
His jaw twitched at the tone and attitude she gave him. The pain in his heart only fueled it. "Well . . . if you can't take this shit with Brittany anymore . . . Doesn't that imply you won't deal with us anymore?" He growled, his stance taking on the aggressive. Pain still lit in his eyes, but now anger burned bright. "I don't want to think of us breaking up, if you're wondering. But I'm wondering if you can't stand Brittany's shit anymore, does that mean you're done with us? Cause I don't fuckin' know if she'll ever quit. She's a horrible fuckin' bitch that wants to make us miserable. Especially me." He swallowed hard. "But if you can't take her shit anymore, tell me now!" He rumbled. "I can't afford any more of my feelings being caught up with you, when I have Noah to think about." His eyes glittered. Pain from his heart was very apparent. It was also clear he was holding back tears.
Madison stood up, removing herself from the living room as she didn't ever want to fight with him in front of the baby, she didn't want that for Noah to see. "Unless you're the one making her do all this shit then no. I don't. Just because I said I can't fucking stand her and her bullshit don't have ANYTHING to do with you or Noah, Daryl. In that sense. But what I do see, is how it effects someone I love more then anyone and let's not forget. She wouldn't bat an eyelash at the thought of harming or killing that baby if it knew it would have you back in her lap. Noah is the whole god damn reason I can not take Brittany's shit anymore because its gonna get him hurt Daryl!" She growled hard with her own anger and heat behind her eyes. "And I ain't ever asked you for a god damn thing Dixon! Ain't ever ask ya to put all your feelings into me, that's on you. Not me." She pointed out, trying so fucking hard not to push his ass out the door for that comment. "All I ever do is think about Noah and yourself, so don't even try that with me. Really think I would do that to him? Or you for that matter?" She asked, waving her hands a little as she got closer to him, tears wanting to break the walls. "How dare you stoop me to that level."
Kitchi whined, sensing the tension and anger in the room. Noah merely just looked on with bright eyes, his fist jammed in his mouth sucking on it and covering it with his spittle. Daryl took a deep breath when she got up that it made him look at his son. His anger dropped down a notch at this. Again, he swallowed and followed her out of the room. As soon as he came into her view again, she immediately said what she had to say.
His heart gave a pang as she said about Brittany harming Noah to get to him. God, he knew she was right about that. "I know it ain't on you!" He growled back. "All I think of is Noah and you! And I don't know if you would do that or not! I can't help the fuckin' doubt that clouds my mind sometimes damn it!" He growled and turned about. "I can't help my damn mind!" He sighed and hung his head. He braced it on his arm, against the door frame. "Just the thought of losing you . . . because of Brittany's shit . . . " He sighed and shook his head. "It kill me."
Madison's own temper dropped, her left hand rubbing along the back of her arm in the fidget of a nervous manner. This was what Brittany wanted, cause a rift between the two of them, driving Madison out. Would make Daryl so low that he wouldn't care anymore and in the end, Brittany would win. "Daryl." She sighed out, pausing to nibble on the inside of her cheek trying to figure out how to fix this without making the words hurt more, or scare him. Madison had to remind herself this was as new to him as it was to her. There was never any books written on how to make a relationship go smooth, and never would be.
In defeat, Madison closed the space between them, bracing herself into his back as her arms slung tightly around his waist, her soft face burying into his shoulder. "Only way I leave is if you push me out that door. Is if you look me in the eye and tell me that you hate everything about me. That ya don't love me." The thought of that ever been said made Madison shiver and pray that he would never do that to her. That Daryl was hers forever.
"I . . . I didn't mean to lash out or sound ill." She mumbled now, pushing into him hard, fingers gripping into his front. "So scared she'll win. Done this song and dance SO many times and always ended back in hell, Daryl. She can take him, which means you'll go too." Tears dripped from her eyes in which she wiped onto his shirt.
He felt so damn vulnerable at that moment. So pathetic and alone. He was ready to push away from the door frame and storm off when he felt her arms wrap tightly around his middle. He took in a shaky breath, closing his eyes, beyond relieved she stayed. That she was here, holding him. Grounding him back to what truly was. His hand found hers and squeezed the top of it, wishing they didn't have to go through this.
He licked his lips, as he still denied his own tears fall. He listened and wanted to turn around and comfort her when her fingers tightened into his firm belly.
Daryl gently pried her fingers off, so he could face her. His own arms embraced her tightly when he turned. "I'd never do that love . . . It be like ripping my own heart out of my chest if I did that." He murmured.
He took a deep breath in and squeezed her a little more. "I won't ever let that happen love. I refuse to let her win. She won't have Noah, nor me." He kissed her temple, holding her head tight against his chest, not wanting to let go. "Love ya, Wren. I'm sorry 'bout this too . . ." He took her into his lungs and slowly calmed down.
