The day that the inner storm was calmed, it did more than calm the atmosphere in the room or the base. This moment of peace and acceptance sent out a wave. Unlike the hand gesture or the movement over water, this wave was incapable of being seen. The energy this wave was made of was invisible as well, due to the origin of said wave was so weak. However, a well trained eyes could see a ripple go across the area; turning a very light shade of purple to the surrounding area for just a brief second. This ripple could have easily been missed by a blink or just a misconception of vision. Nothing in nature, no living being, nor real anything was affected by this ripple. That was, until, the ripple stretched far enough to cover a dark area of Hidden Kingdom. The seemingly devoid of life badland had one major noticeable landmark; a large mountain with openings scattered all over its interior and exterior alike. These openings resembled the faces of skulls; appropriate given the seeming dead area. Like all ripples, the energy reached a point where it faded away from any view, right at the mouth of the largest cavern. This skull-like opening slowly began to light up. The light that emanated from its opening was faint at first, but slowly increased in both size and brightness. The light changed between two colors; red and blue, at a slow pace. Two wisps flew out of the opening, a red and blue accordingly, that swirled around one another as they traveled through the air and out of the area.
The direction the wisps were headed were towards an impressive monument built before an inlet, a place that was formerly the residence of royalty, but now the home of the spark of the chaotic wildfire that occurred so long ago; East Citadel. The wisps flew right into the throne room, where the master of the transformed fortress sat. He was munching on a colorful lollipop without any care in the world. These two wisps spun in a circle, creating a flat circular field. An image slowly came into view. The image was of a colossal skull, half red and half blue. "High Roller." The skull spoke in a deep voice.
At the mentioning of his name, the master stopped. "What is it? Can't you seem I'm busy?"
"Busy stuffing yourself?" That comment caused High Roller to stand. The former jester now stood arguably the tallest human in Hidden Kingdom now. His attire has not changed from its past self. The only real change that was noticeable, other than his height, was his eye. Formerly blind in appearance, the eye now sported a two colored iris of red and blue.
"I work hard, I deserve a moment to relish in sweets." In one bite, his sharpened teeth bit through the lollipop and stick at once. He lightly tossed the remains of the lollipop stick away as he crunched away. He swallowed the contents of his mouth before letting out a sigh. Twin Masters did not look pleased.
"You dare ignore your master?" The tone of voice was louder, deeper, and filled with irritation.
"I'm not ignoring you; I'm choosing not to listen." The human smirked only for the demon to frown. He's had his fun, so now the human was willing. "To what do I owe this intrusion."
Seeing he was now going to be serious, or at least as serious High Roller was, the demon's frown lessened in intensity. "I have sensed something, something...familiar. It has a painful resemblance to someone from long ago. To a certain hero." The emphasis on that word was strong. High Roller seemed to freeze up. He had no reply but focused on his demon lord. "I fear that it belongs to a hero."
"Are you trying to accuse that I was sloppy in my work?" High Roller snapped at him.
"High Roller, you may be my greatest ally now, but your reputation prior has not lived up to my expectation."
If there is one thing to anger High Roller, it was bringing up his past self. He HATED his past. He was small, weak and pathetic; nothing like he is now. The human got closer to the demonic projection, his eye radiating a stream of both red and blue. "My reputation?! I was out and about while your butt sat still in that poor excuse of a lair!"
The revolting human suddenly held his neck. Two hands, each made from the projection's energy, grabbed hold of the human's neck. The demon glared to the human very displeased. "Do not forget who changed you from your former self. High Roller, my power is far more powerful now. You have no idea what I can do to you; don't forget that."
High Roller coughed and gagged, but managed to look at Twin Masters. "D-Don't you forget who helped you get that p-powerful." The hands let go after that. The frown on Twin Masters had completely vanished. If there was one thing Twin Masters admired on High Roller was his new confidence and backbone; not that he would openly admit it. After catching his breath and standing, High Roller looked to the projection. "What would you like me to do? Send out scouts?"
On the other side of the projection with the dark mountain Twin Masters chuckled. "No, none of your servants will be able to fully complete this task. I, however, have someone who can." The projection of High Roller vanished as the demon's hand passed over it. "Your time has come my creation." A stone skull lit up an odd green and yellow. The light eliminated from its hollow sockets. Slowly the "mouth" of the skull opened and revealed the brightest source of the energy. Twin Masters approached with both hands sparking. "But you have far less power than what is needed. Allow me to provide you with support." The skull's contents were zapped with Twin Master's own energy, causing a violent reaction. If you were outside of the mountain, you could see violent streaks of light shooting out random orifices within the sharp earth mound.
A couple days have passed since that event. The interior of Big Green had a much calmer atmosphere. The storm may have been internal and only at one individual, but the being's new serenity was almost infectious. Members who didn't get along at first were seeming to be the best of friends. Liliac could see this as she walked through the halls of the new Big Green. For once in her life, she felt relaxed. "ATTENTION: LILIAC. CEASE ACTION." The young warrior turned to see the resident robot Cyber. He rolled up to her, waved and performed what he could to mimic a smile. "GREETINGS."
"Hey Cyber" she responded with an equally positive tone. "What did you need?"
"I request your assistance with a matter." His voice shifted to a more "human" tone as he approached closer. His chest cavity rotated completely backwards, as a sheet printed from his back. "As per Kawkee's request, I was performing maintenance on our base's security system. I just finished analyzing the security system used on the main entry point on the surface. As you know the entrance uses genetic coding and DNA sequencing to analyze the makeup of each individual that touches the secret panel on the rubble. This allows to-" And after that his words drifted off. Liliac was not stupid, nor was she lacking the proper amount of attention needed for something like this; the fault was more towards Cyber himself. Being a robot didn't help with anything regarding emotion, even when his altered speech program, he still sounded completely monotoned. His expanded vocabulary was also a factor, since some of the words took Liliac a couple minutes to understand what he meant, and by that time he would be on a completely different subject. "-and according to my data, there is an individual that I cannot seem to place."
That part the human could understand. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Of all of the members, I have record of all current species for each individual we have. However the analyzers cannot identify at least one of the members properly." He held up the sheet to her. Liliac scanned the list down quickly, but indeed saw what he was implying. She could name the members whose species were listed, however on one slot, there were three question marks in place. "The malfunction that is causing this is unknown. I believe a reprogramming of the system, to include my database on animal species should help fix the situation. What do you think?"
"Uh…sounds good?" Her half hearted answer appeared to be enough for the robot, for it turned around and rolled away. Liliac held her head and continued walking in the opposite direction of the headache. As she did, she noticed Maiden ahead, and lightly increased her speed to catch up, "Hey Maiden."
The dark skinned human turned with a sharp toothed smile. "Hello to you as well Liliac." Her smile turned to a frown, "You do not look very well. Did something happen?"
"Cyber tried to explain a problem, and went a bit overboard." Maiden let out a light chuckle in response. "He said something about some unknown creature in Big Green." Silence. Maiden's light chuckle stopped all at once; the girl completely stunned that she stopped everything, walking included. Liliac, however, did not completely notice it. Nor did she notice what happened next. Maiden's form seemed to turn almost flat, pressed down to the floor, and moved as it part of the flat surface. She slipped into a random door on the hallway walls. "But that's weird, it's probably a glitch that Kawkee made. What do you think Maiden?" Hearing no response, not even footsteps, Liliac turned and was given the surprise of no one else being there. "Maiden…?"
Speaking of Kawkee, he was in his usual workspace and lab, working on some random project. He stood up, stopping said work. "Hmm? I feel like someone said something about me?"
"Um…pardon me?" The alien turned and set his sight on the main door. The one who entered was YX, the first new being to arrive at the ruined base.
"Oh, welcome!" Kawkee turned with two of his arms waving, and the other two still working on the project. "You are the demon who was the original caretaker of this place, YX correct?" The spider demon nodded silently. His gestures seemed rather odd, nervous even. The alien, however, looked pleased. "I shall prepare some tea."
A rough table and chairs were made out of lying junk and scrap. It wasn't comfortable, but it wasn't uncomfortable either. The spider demon managed to take a proper seat as the other odd being in this room made tea. They have never really interacted much. In fact it was quite a surprise when Kawkee first showed up, claiming to be able to fix the ruins that was Big Green. The demon was unsure, but allowed nonetheless. The work the alien can do surprised him the most; when he claimed to want to fix the ruined base, he didn't expect to build a whole new base underneath of it! The origins and decision to do so was admirable, YX had to admit that. Building a base underwater, underneath the ruins of the former, was a brilliant idea and a respectful one. This offworlder seemed to have adapted to their way of life fairly quickly; albeit a few alien quirks here and there. As the demon thought, he barely heard the faint 'clink' of a traditional tea cup being placed on the makeshift table. From appearances it looked like green tea. The light aroma, mixed with the color and the single tea leaf stem floating at the top, only backed this assumption. "Thank you."
The two gently grasped their cups and took a sip. The tea was quite good; hot but not scalding, tasteful but not too strong. The dedication into learning proper tea brewing was eminent in this one cup alone. Wait, the alien had no visible mouth, how did he-? "You are looking different than the last time I saw you."
Cutting off yet more thoughts, YX cleared his throat and set his cup down. His form was not too different, but the different features were noticeable. His black arachnid body had bright yellow markings across it in a intricate shape. His humanoid form had four arms instead of his former two. His attire was unchanged on his torso, he did not however wear his facial cloak. "Uh…yes. After the removal of such chaotic energy from the area, my form altered to better suit the new environment."
"That is interesting to know." Silence. More silence. More very awkward silence. The awkwardness was so thick someone could slice it with a sword and not cut all the way through. Both the alien and demon were feeling this. The obviousness of them having little interaction was much more obvious, if that was even possible at this point. Kawkee gently drew a circle around the edge of his cup for two or three rounds before speaking up once more, "So what do I owe this surprise visit?"
The demon cleared his throat once more. "Well from what I have heard, seen, and experienced for myself, you are very skilled at constructing many devices with various functions." Kawkee only gave him a nod of approval. He wasn't one to interrupt someone every sentence like most, so he let the guardian speak his mind. "With Liliac now accepting friendship between her and young Maya, my senses are much more clear. However I cannot sense things beyond my reach. I wish to request of you to construct a device that can sense strong chaotic energy readings from even across great distances."
Kawkee took a second sip of his tea before placing it down on the table. "That sounds like an interesting request and challenge. However I must ask; I have been hearing the word "chaos" multiple times since I joined this base, what significance does it have?" He straightened himself from his seat. "Chaos is defined as the inability to harmonize. And chaos can be found everywhere; harmony and chaos are two sides of the same coin, and cannot exist without the other."
"That is the problem." The spider demon looked down into his cup, his own reflection staring right back at him. "This kingdom wasn't always like this. It wasn't always in a seemingly perpetual state of gloom. It used to be filled with light and life. The balance of harmony and chaos disrupted over a decade ago, too far out. If I were to place this in your manner, this shift used to be fifty percent each ways. But now, chaos reigns over this land at what I believe would be eighty percent or higher." He made a sigh, "And when I finally sensed it, I wasn't around to stop it. I'm only afraid it will get worse."
The alien scratched his chin lightly. There was obviously some unresolved feelings in the demon, given by his tone. But, he decided that for today, his curiosity would not get the better of him. He stood, "I think I may be able to come up with something, but I will need your help. I unfortunately do not have the slightest clue as to what chaotic energy's wavelength is on the spectrum. Come by later, and I will have something for you."
The demon bowed before standing up to leave. As Kawkee turned to work, YX cleared his throat. "I…don't suppose I could come back again for tea. It was fairly good."
"Come any time." The alien gave a wave as the spider left. The moment the hatch turned he let out a sigh. "Oh wow that was awkward at first. But, curious. Did he perhaps do something in the past? Or did he NOT do something? Did he feel like doing something but couldn't? Oh! Maybe he was different back then!" As if to snap him out, his lower arm lightly slapped his face. "Right! Back to work!"
On the other side, YX let out an equal sigh of relief from the awkwardness of the beginning. But, he was more relieved at the resourcefulness of their offworlder. YX headed for his room, but after one step he froze. He felt it, he really felt it, and it was coming closer. His calm walk turned into a nervous run as he blurred through the halls. A few bystanders were startled by this, but not knowing who or what it was made them lose interest. No no no! I can't let this happen again! The path the demon took was a hatch that lead right outside. His legs quickly propelled him to the surface of the lake they resided in and made his way to shore. He sensed it again, and it was really close! The demon hid within the tall watergrass on the edge of the lake. His head barely poked out as his many eyes shifted in sight. His gaze locked on something in the distance. It looked like a ball of light; green and yellow light to be precise. But this light seemed to be the source of the spider demon's nerves. This feeling was the same when Big Green was destroyed, but the light was much different than the one he saw over the base before it was reduced to rubble. The ball of light hovered in an unusual path. In its path the sky darkened slightly, as if to emphasize a storm. Looking further over the horizon, the clouds were the darkest they've been in a long time. There was no doubt about it now; this was the source. The orb's light only intensified, as the orb slowly morphed into a more humanoid shape. The demon's eyes widened as his beliefs were confirmed. The energy took shape into a humanoid creature; half of its body yellow while the other half was green. Each side seemed to radiate some different form of energy that visibly flowed in different ways across his surface. The face of such a being resembled a hideous skull, each half slightly different in structure. The eyes of this new demon scanned the area. "This is where the epicenter of that ripple came from." YX silently swore in his head; Twin Masters sensed Liliac's newfound harmony. He knew that her resolve was strong, but not that strong. No choice in this matter. The demon slowly crawled from the grass, the light crunch of the vegetation making just enough noise to draw its attention. The demon slowly descended onto the ground, feet making a firm thud as YX approached. "I did not expect to see a fellow demon. I did not mean to intrude on your territory."
So far this demon displayed mannerisms and caution; two things he did not expect. Then again, Twin Masters always knew a way to deceive the minds of the others. The spider demon began approaching. The demon, in response, raised both hands as two spheres of energy formed in each, being the color of the one side the hand was on respectively. This moment, YX's eyes seemed to turn. He did not move his head to emphasize this, but the moment that energy sparked, he couldn't see him. In fact he couldn't see anything. His senses were now blocked, even with such low exposure of chaotic energy. The demon hurled both orbs at the spider demon. Both of them were direct hits. Both hits knocked him back, but cleared his blindness. 'Just how strong are this demon's chaotic powers? Is this Twin Masters, an underling, or…' His thoughts were cut off as his blindness returned. He was hit once more, this attack strong enough to knock him to the ground. The chaos demon put his hands together before slowly spreading them. A green and yellow orb slowly formed between his diverging hands, expanding in size and increasing in both power and intensity. If YX wasn't blinded by this before, he would have been blinded now. The demon hurled it at the spider demon. Just before impact, however, his head shot up and his mouth opened. The massive energy sphere froze in place and began to dissipate, most of its excess being swallowed by YX. His eyes changed color briefly before he bared his fangs. He no longer stood by and charged for an attack. He swung all sets of his claws wildly. The demon took mere steps backwards to avoid them. YX was ruthless in this onslaught, no sign of stopping this seeming failed attack. A strong punch knocked him back towards the water's edge. Barrages of energy spheres were hurled, most were dodged and some absorbed. One orb managed to hit the edge of the ruined base.
This one orb, and the damage it caused, was enough to trigger the security. Nearly everyone in the base froze as red lights filled every single room and a loud alarm rung. Those such as Liliac and the others experienced in action were the first responders who arrived at the meeting room. "Commander Ape Truly, what's going on?!" Liliac asked as her friends arrived behind her.
The red monkey turned just after Brave One had whispered in his ear. "YX is currently fighting some being on the outskirts of Big Green." A live video feed was put up, watching the fight. Everyone was startled by both of the brawling figures; the demon due to its appearance and YX due to his fighting style. He was fighting more like a rabid animal than the intelligent being they knew he was. "From what Brave One has told me, the demon may be Twin Masters." This fact made everyone freeze. While they had no interaction with the demon, they were familiar with the name. Twin Masters was the supreme power of chaos that aided High Roller in his quest to rule Hidden Kingdom. And based on where they were now, it was obvious of the outcome.
Liliac meanwhile took notice of the demons and their fight. From the stories she remembers both her father and mother telling her, Twin Master's chaotic energy was red and blue. This demon was yellow and green, and fighting with energy of the same color, so there wasn't a true chance of this demon being Twin Masters. More importantly however, she noticed the attacks. The energy sphere thrown were either dodged or eaten by YX. And every sphere eaten he seemed more violent. "Commander, YX looks like he's eating whatever is thrown at him."
"YX has a title known as "The Devourer of Demons". While that implies he is able to actually consume other demons, he can also consume the energy from…them…" The commander drifted off. His eyes may have been bandaged, but the expression on his face did not need them. "Oh dear! YX is absorbing chaotic energy! His body cannot withstand that! That must be why he is fighting so wildly!" He quickly turned, "Liliac! You and the others must end this fight!"
Liliac gave him a nod he would never see. "Whoa whoa whoa" they heard a gruff voice spoke, meaning it was Richter. "You mean to tell me that this thing is Twin Masters? And you want us, who are supposed to stay hidden, to go out and fight?! What if we lose?! What if he runs away, gets High Roller, and comes back with reinforcements?!"
"I hate to be the bearer of even worse news" Kawkee added, "But I have yet to restock my supply of fluoromethyl-hexafluoroisopropyl-ether." Everyone, including Liliac and Ape Truly, looked to him with confusion struck across their faces. The one eyed being scanned them, before realizing his mistake. "Oh! I am referring to Sevolfurane." Again, their faces were nothing but confusion. Defeated, Kawkee slouched, "My memory erasing elixir in gaseous form."
"Just call it Memory Gas so everyone can understand it." Misty commented, causing a small bicker between the human and alien. Liliac pondered a bit on this. YX couldn't last much longer, he needed help. But they couldn't get caught either. What was the right choice in this situation? What would be the best outcome?
"Misty, Kawkee, please cease fighting" the commander commanded. The two stopped immediately. "Kawkee, prepare a batch as quickly as you can. The others will stall the demon from both attacking YX, attacking the base, and fleeing." They nodded as they prepared for their tasks. Liliac stood there, a bit dumbfounded and soon saddened. A hand was placed on her back, belonging to the red monkey. "Liliac, being a leader means that a decision needs to be made despite the circumstance. There will be factors and problems that arise from any decision you make, but you must have faith in them; otherwise they will never work."
The gray haired girl nodded, "Thank you Ape Truly. I am sure that this plan will work." She grabbed her staff and headed in the direction the others went. She ran out too quickly, for she was out of earshot to hear the commander's comment. "I certainly hope it does."
Back outside the situation worsened. The eyes of the spider demon were shifting so often and so fast that it was hard to see any of the original YX in them. The protector charged releasing a vicious roar, only to be merely backhanded out of it. The insectoid skidded across the ground before coming to a halt in front of a upturned mound. The chaotic demon raised his hand, "You have fought well enough demon, however you will not stand in my way to-" Blue lightning hit him, causing small debris clouds to burst and the demon to back up. "What was…?"
"Hands off the spider, punk!" The demon turned to see a rather large group of individuals. Several humans, a few animals, and some other creatures he hasn't recognized. Liliac stood in front, with Pink and Maya close by. The one that struck him, Misty, stood with Red Ray, Richter, Oddette and Scale Gray. Those on the field, but staying out of the fray for now, were Shari, Raya, Long John, Gunpowder and Jade. They were hiding behind a rock out of harm's way. They wanted to help, but at the same time they didn't want to fight. Liliac understood their motives and merely focused on her objective. "Stop right now Twin Masters!"
The chaotic demon slowly turned to face them with a look of intrigue. They believed that he was Twin Masters? He wasn't sure whether to feel angry, annoyed, honored or insulted. He kept his face emotionless as his gaze set directly on Liliac. He could see it; faint ripples of energy dissipating before they were ever seen by another individual. "You are the one I am looking for." This confused everyone, Liliac even dropping her guard. This was what the demon was waiting for, cause in a mere flash, he held her up by her neck. Everyone got scared by this and jumped back, all but one. Liliac's response wasn't fast enough as the grab caused her to drop her staff. She grabbed his wrist to try and free herself, but his grip was like iron. Everyone was in complete horror at the sight. Liliac glanced down, to only be greeted with the smiling sharp-toothed smile. "Die. Harmony."
