Ch 37

Embry and Kerrie drove around for a bit before they ended up in Port Angeles. They couldn't decide on a movie so they walked around a bit before having a quiet dinner before returning to his house. Embry felt on edge as his cell phone rang.

"Hello?" He said coldly seeing the number belonged to the Cullen family.

"Can I speak to Kerrie please?"

Embry let out a growl.

"Please, it's important."

"Fine." He grunted as he handed the phone to Kerrie who looked confused. "It's Alice Cullen."

Kerrie shrugged and took the phone.

"Hi Alice."

"Kerrie, I just wanted to make sure you were ok after what happened the other day and I wanted to offer my help if you ever needed to talk or anything."

"Alice, that's nice of you and all but I don't know if that's a great idea-"

"I figured you would say that. I've never met anyone else like me and even though you said you usually see things in dreams we had the same vision."

"We did and it is not happening anytime soon and it can change."

"Kerrie, I think that if the Volturi come back we can help the most if we work together."

"Alice, this is all just too much a few weeks ago I thought this all might be real but now that I know werewolves and vampires are truly real I need some time to process it all. I'm hoping this thing doesn't happen and for the time being I'm not letting myself worry about it."

Alice let out a sigh.

"Ok, if that is what you want. If you change your mind just let one of the wolves know and they can get us in contact."

"Sure thing, bye Alice." Kerrie didn't wait for a reply and ended the call.

"I can't believe that leech. She really tried to sneak around to befriend you. Just wait till I tell Jake."

Embry took the phone and walked outside slamming the door. Kerrie wandered into the living room and sat on the couch. When Embry didn't come back in right away she stood up and looked at the pictures on the wall and then wandered upstairs. She made sure all of her things were packed then set her alarm so she would be on time for Katie's appointment. Kerrie decided to change into her pjs and crawled into bed with a book. She fell asleep with the book in her hands. Sometime later Embry returned and crawled into bed.

"I'm not going to let anything happen to you." He whispered kissing her head and putting the book on the bedside table.

Kerrie woke up the next morning to Embry hugging her from behind. She managed to untangle herself from him and slipped on some running clothes hoping to clear her head before she needed to meet Katie and Seth for the doctor appointment. Kerrie warmed up and bit then took off at full speed running down the roads of the reservation. She ran for awhile until her phone buzzed giving her a warning to return in time to shower and get to the hospital. Kerrie turned around and raced back to Embry's, she took a few minutes too cool down and do a few stretches before walking into the house. Embry was sitting at the kitchen table.

"I was worried until I found this." He said holding up her note that she left on the kitchen table.

"Sorry I didn't want to run back upstairs and risk waking you." She said before hurrying up the stairs.

"Can we talk?" Embry said following her.

"Umm…. now's not a great time. I gotta shower and get to the hospital for the appointment."

Embry nodded.

"Maybe later then?"

"How about tomorrow? I planned a gender reveal party at Sue's. Did Leah invite you?"

"No." Embry said arms crossed.

"Sorry, you're invited as are all the guys. I already know what the sex of the baby is but I want to be there just incase I was wrong." Kerrie said rushing into the bathroom.

"So tomorrow?" Embry asked through the door.

"Yes, after the party? I should have like an hour or so before I need to get to the airport."

Embry nodded to himself.

"So I won't see you until then?" He asked.

"I don't think so. Katie and I are having a sister day this afternoon and I'm staying at their house tonight." Kerrie said loudly over the shower.

Embry didn't answer but went down the stairs trying to put together his thoughts. He had went to Jake about Alice and found out him speaking too Leah about Kerrie. Needless to say that Embry and Leah got into a huge fight about who had Kerrie's best interest and Jake had to break them up. Jake had sent Leah away promising to finish their conversation later than listened to his story about Alice Cullen. Jake looked less than pleased and promised to bring up the topic with the help of Ness. Since Embry was so upset he needed time before he could even go home. Now he was worried about what Jake and Leah were talking about. He heard a bit about Katie being worried about her sister and coming up with a plan but that was it. Embry slammed him hand on the table still upset that Leah felt the need to get involved with "his" imprint. Leah had Tom and Embry had waited years to find Kerrie. Kerrie came down the stairs a few minutes later and Embry rushed into the hall to help with her bags.

"Thanks." She said as he helped load them into the car.

"I talked to Jake about Alice and he's going to remind her to stay away from you."

Kerrie nodded.

"Thank you. I'll see you tomorrow." She said leaning forward to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. Embry was tempted to hold her but Kerrie climbed into the car and before he could say anything she was driving away. Embry pulled out his cell phone and called Sam.

"Hey, what's up?" Sam asked.

"Are you going to that party tomorrow?"

"Oh yea, the gender party. I think so."

"Leah never even told me about it."

"Don't worry it's mostly for the girls but I think we should support Seth."

"Do we need to do anything?"

"Emily picked up some baby stuff. I heard Kerrie went all out for it. Emily mentioned some of the stuff she had sent to Sue's house. I think we just show up and let the girls do what they have planned."

"I'm going to get something. I'll go to the store after work. Can you put Emily on?"

Sam handed off the phone as Emily listed off some ideas for Embry.

At the hospital Katie, Seth, and Kerrie were waiting to be seen. Seth was beginning to pace since the doctor was running a few minutes late while Katie and Kerrie started planning their afternoon. When they were finally called they headed back to the exam room and all three of them waited to see the ultrasound. Kerrie wiped at her eyes and smiled.

"This is so awesome." She said grabbing a tissue.

"Do you want to know?"

"Could you write the gender in an envelop?" Kerrie asked as Katie gave her a questioning look.

"Come on, you know I'm missing the formal baby shower so I planned a gender reveal party. It's the least I could do as the godmother." Katie sat up giving Kerrie a hug.

"You've done so much already. You really are the best."

Seth gave her a hug as well as the doctor gave Kerrie the envelop.

"So we'll all know tomorrow afternoon." Kerrie said with a slight smirk.

"What are you to doing next?"

"Since you have to work I'm going to help set up the baby registry since Katie says you two need the extra help and guidance then I was thinking a massage, lunch, then chick flicks, dinner, and more chick flicks." Kerrie said as Katie nodded.

"Thank god you are helping with the baby registry. We were looking online and had no idea." Seth said with a laugh.

"It will be all set. We got this under control." Katie said as she finished wiping the jelly off her stomach.

Seth waited till Kerrie and Katie drove off before heading to the garage. When he arrived everyone was already working. Seth went to his station and started an oil change.

"What are the girls doing today?" Embry asked.

"First setting up the baby registry then I think they said massages, lunch, and lots of chick flicks."

Embry made a face.

"What's up?" Seth asked stopping what he was doing.

"Things just don't feel right." He said with a frown.

"I know Katie is worried about Kerrie but she doesn't want to say much. Talk to her, I think she is one of the people who know her best other than Matt and Rick. Leah's gotten close to her as well but I heard you two got into a fight-"

"Leah needs to keep her nose out of this." Embry said with a scowl.

"Hey, I'm not getting in the middle of this." Seth said putting his hands up. "I would just consider that they are both different. Leah is the only one of her kind and Kerrie is different. I think they just get that the other is alone with a special gift. Hell Katie didn't even know about Kerrie's thing until she mentioned if after the bonfire but I guess they are going to talk about it today."

Embry frowned and walked away. Deep down inside he knew Seth was right but he was still upset with Leah and now he was even more worried about what was going on with his imprint.
