Satoshi shifted carefully looking through his magical companion's eyes. The Hikari teen didn't want to alert his family's curse that he was awake and watching. The young police commander had noticed that Krad had been taking control of his body when he was asleep. At first this had alarmed the teen greatly afraid that the blond demon would try and attack the Niwa family but after speaking with Daisuke and finding out that Dark had not sensed his counterpart anywhere close to the Niwa home he had become curious to know what the psychotic hunter was up too. He watched as the blond angel landed lightly on the balcony of an old abandoned apartment building on the edge of town.
Krad tucked his wings tightly against his body as he stepped through the door into the bedroom. Only moments after he entered a large fluffy gray cat was twining around his ankles meowing happily. The ice demon stooped scooping up the animal a soft fond smile curling his lips.
The blue haired teen was in shock, in complete and absolute shock. The cold, unfeeling, heartless entity bound to his family's blood line was showing kindness to something living. He hadn't known that the blond was capable of affection or gentleness. The ice demon was speaking quietly to the animal cradled in his arms.
The long haired blond moved down the short hall into the kitchen where he place the cat once more onto the floor. Krad rolled his eyes unsurprised as his pet ran over to the water bowl expectantly. "What is it with you and water? Every time I enter the kitchen you think you are getting a fresh bowl of water." He moved over checking the bowl finding it almost full. As he stepped away he could feel the accusing green eyes lock onto him. With another roll of his eyes he obligingly picked up the bowl dumped out the water and refilled it from a bottle on the counter. He placed the bowl in front of the very smug looking cat. "You are very spoiled."
Satoshi continued to watch in disbelief as his curse went about feeding and cleaning up after the large gray cat. After the blond was done he moved out of the kitchen and back into the bedroom settling onto the bed. it wasn't long before the cat had joined the hunter curling up in his lap purring. After a while the last Hikari was incapable of holding his tongue any longer. "I was unaware that you could be gentle."
Krad stiffened fingers pausing in their motion along the cat's back. "You know very little of me Satoshi-sama."
"Well," the teen frowned, "it's not like you make it easy to know you."
Golden eyes narrowed, "It is not like you ever tried." Pale fingers began to stroke through soft fur once more. "After all, I am just the family demon, a curse."
The last Hikari was taken aback by the flaxen haired entity's bitter tone. He then scowled annoied, "it's not like you've been an angel to live with." The teen shrugged commenting dryly, "you're no Dark."
The hunter's jaw tightened, "no, no I am not." Golden eyes closed as his anger drained away leaving him feeling hollow, "so I have been told... every generation."
"You could have tried to be..." began the teen but he was cut off before he could finish.
Krad's anger reignited, "I am not My Counterpart! I am not the Thief's reflection! Nor am I Dark Mousy's replica." The white clad artwork snarled, "I am myself! Not Black Wings! And I very much resent being compared constantly to my other half. I am NOT him and will NEVER be him."
The young commander's eyes had widened in surprise during his curse's outburst. Before he could think of anything to say the hunter continued.
"You know," the white angel's voice had become almost conversational, "I hate you Hikaris almost as much as I despise the Niwas." The blond gently caressed the cat's head. "You humans are so... complicated and fickle, You are always judging and constantly trying to manipulate everything around you," the ice demon cocked his head, "unlike animals, you can never seem to just enjoy things for what they are.." He reached out wrapping his magic around his stunned and silent host. "Just remember Satoshi-sama, I did not ask to be bound to your family. You can blame the Niwas for that when they interrupted the Kokuyoku's sealing. And as for me... the demon... you can blame your own family. I am just... a piece of art, created by the Hikari clan." He pushed the teen back into the depth of their shared mind. Once he was sure that the brat wouldn't be barging back into his space. The magical entity settled back scratching his feline companion under the chin. "At least you do not expect me to be someone I am not."
