"You know Mikael" I said as I caught up to him "I am very mad at you"

"Oh good, here comes another one"

"Because of your random shopping trip a very special moment between Klaus and I was interrupted"

"Oh, great, now Klaus will eat my brains for it"

"Klaus won't be mad once he finds out where you were"

"I would prefer it if he didn't know"

"And what then? Where do we say this random gift came from?" I asked as I folded my arms

"Fine" he said after thiking it through

"You have done nothing to be ashamed of. It's amazing what you are doing to try to be a better man. Davina has done an unbelievable job on you Mikael"

"Yeah she did pull some strings inside me"

"Whatever she did clearly worked. I can't believe you have the bracelet and haven't left yet"

"She made me understand that I should cherish the family I still have left after a thousand years of loneliness"

"Well however she did it, she did one hell of a job"

"She is a powerful witch that girl"

"You do know that she and Kol have something going on right?" I asked

He stopped and turned to face me

"That is not good" he snapped

"Why? I think they make a cute couple…"

"Unfortunately he takes from his father which means he is extremely reckless and heartless. He'll hurt her"

I grabbed the teddy bear from his and held it to him

"If his infamously evil father manages to find kindness in his heart to do this, he can surely find the same to be a good boyfriend to her"

He nodded and took the teddy bear back.

"Call the others and tell them we're here"

I nodded and did so. As we expected, Klaus' arrival was grand.

"You showed your true color after all didn't you Mikael" he yelled as he lunged at his father "I will destroy you now once and for all to avoid any future mishap…"

"Klaus listen to me" I interrupted his rant "He wasn't doing anything wrong"

"That's what he told you?" he asked as he tried to walk past me

"That's what I'm telling you. Trust me."

"What was he off doing then?" he snapped

"Buying Hope a Christmas present. Something you and I have forgotten to" I replied

He relaxed his muscles and backed off

"Are you serious?" he said with a chuckle

"Stop laughing Nik" I warned

"I thought it was the correct thing to do" Mikael replied

"Now you have decided to be the Santa of the house? Where did you get the money? Did you steal the gift?"

"I beg your pardon?" Mikael said as he raised his nose snobbishly "I did not steal the gift. I bought it with real money…which I stole from Rebekah's bag"

Klaus burst out laughing. Elijah cleared his throat uncomfortably. Everyone else was shocked. Rebekah put her hands on her hips and came forward.

"What makes you think that is alright?" she demanded

"Okay that is enough" I ordered "Klaus stop laughing, Rebekah its just money get over it. And Mikael go back to your room. Kol, Davina, I need you two to come with me"

I left the room like a Queen, leaving everyone under my influence. When I reached the study I stopped and waited for the two to enter before shutting the door.

"I need you guys to help me buy a gift" I explained "For Hope, which shouldn't be hard, and for Klaus, which probably will be"

"Well for Hope we can buy something for the kids, she's going to be one soon, she can play in toy castles or something, you know for toddlers." Davina suggested

"Buy her a toy car, a cool ride for the coolest princess in town"

"She is one" I said "Do you think she'll find that interesting?"

"I would die for a toy car when I was one" Kol explained

"Fine then, I'll get her a castle and a car. Just to make sure we have enough gifts in case Klaus forgets. How about him?"

"It has to be something lovely" Davina said "To represent your love for him"

"I can't believe I waited this long to get gifts" I complained to myself

"To be fair you were preoccupied" Kol said in my defense

"Fine, where do we get the gifts then?" I asked

"I can compel a store owner to open his place. It's a huge shop with everything for everyone"

"I guess you need gifts often then?" Davina asked

"Remember that necklace I gave you? From that shop"

She rolled her eyes and folded her arms, annoyed.

"So, let's go there then, come on!"

After buying everything we needed for Hope, and some small gifts for everyone else, I ended up with nothing for Klaus.

"You should prepare a magical night for him. You know what he likes in bed, just give him the sexiest Christmas ever" Kol suggested

"Kol…" I said as a soft blush spread on my cheeks

"It's actually quite perfect for Klaus. He doesn't necessarily cherish material things" Davina added

"Then we should get some lingerie" I whispered

"Yeah, festive ones!" Kol exclaimed

We bought everything and then left the shop.

We arrived back when it was almost morning. Davina fell asleep in Kol's arms in the car. He picked her up and silently took her to his room to sleep. I smiled at them before getting out of the car with loads of bags.

I made sure to tiptoe in and sit in the study. I was sleepy, but not enough to stop me from what I was doing. I wrapped everyone's gifts and prepared little notes for everyone. I had bought a little Santa Claus lingerie suit for tomorrow night. Although there was technically some lingerie, I would be almost completely nude. I was very shy to look at it, so I quickly hid it in a bag.

I put all the gifts under the tree, but prepared Hope's castle and car in her play room so she could play with them right after she saw them.

Finally, with my lingerie bag in my hand, I went upstairs. I checked on Hope, who was fast asleep, then went to our bedroom.

Klaus was already there, sleeping as well. He didn't sleep in his own room tonight. Our relationship was finally on track.

I hid the bag in the closet and changed into a pyjama. I yawned and slowly crawled into bed. Slowly, I put my head on his chest and snuggled in.

I felt him wake up and look at me.

"Where were you love?" he asked

"I had some things to do with Kol and Davina"

"Did you come now?" he asked

I crawled up to his face and kissed him on the lips. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled my closer.

"Where were we?" he asked "The way you ordered everyone tonight got me all heated up"

"I am so sleepy now Klaus" I whispered as he kissed me on the neck

He sighed and buried his face on my shoulder

"Let's just sleep" I suggested

"It's time to wake up for most of us" he said

"Can you just stay with me till I fall asleep?" I asked

He nodded. I turned my back to him and we spooned. I could feel his breath on my neck as I fell asleep.

When I woke up it was twelve in the afternoon. I yawned and stood up. It was Christmas and I was so happy. I wore something festive and went to Hope's room.

She was in her crib, playing with her hands. I went up to her and smiled, which made her laugh. As I extended my hands to her she shrieked with joy. I held her in my arms as I laughed too and went down the stairs.

"Merry Christmas!" Rebekah, Kol, Davina and Elijah exclaimed as we came down. Mikael was sitting at the back with a subliminal smile. Elena was sitting at his right. Damon was making pancakes.

"It smells delicious" I commented

"He put chocolate chips in them and then cuts them like Christmas trees somehow. They look and taste so good!" Rebekah explained

"Who would have known he's such a chef" Elena added

I smiled and went up to Damon.

"Can we talk?" I asked as he put another Christmas tree on the plate.

He nodded and took off his apron before motioning me to lead the way. I did so and we went into the study.

"Damon, about the thing we discussed that day… about you know what you or I may feel if the other…well…"

"Yes I get it" he said "what about it boss?" he said with his charismatic smile

"Well the thing is, Klaus and I will probably spend the night…well…celebrating Christmas"

He smiled

"Won't we all?"

"Damon" I said in protest

"Sure Hayley do whatever you please. We'll solve this mystery once and for all then. Maybe tomorrow we can start looking into a way to get rid of this bond?"

I nodded. He put his hand on my shoulder.

"I feel this, this thing inside me that makes be on alert 24/7. I feel obliged to protect you Hayley and even though our bond will be broken I assure you, you can always count on me to help you out. You saved my life and I…"

"It's alright Damon, it's not a big deal" I said reassuringly

"Can I ask you to do something else for me? Something Elena doesn't necessarily care about but is extremely important to me"

"What is it?" I asked in curiosity

"I wasn't alone there Hayley. I was in some sort of hell but I wasn't alone"

"Damon I know about your friend Bonnie"

"I need you to bring her back Hayley. I cannot imagine what she's going through…all alone in that place…"

I looked into his eyes. He was really suffering when he thought about it

"She was very important to you then?"

He didn't reply, he just looked away

"Please, just try, for what we shared in the past few days"

I smiled and nodded. He also tried to smile in gratitude. He seemed speechless. I pulled him in for a hug which he softly returned.

Kol walked in and cleared his throat.

"Sorry to destroy your moment but Klaus just got home. We should start with the presents" he snapped

Damon turned his back to us, maybe to conceal his face at the moment. I went up to Kol and got into his arm as I walked him out.

"What are you doing? He is the enemy"

"HE isn't the enemy Kol. Elena is"

"What do you think he will do when I kill her? Once this bond between you is broke I will kill on of them"

"I promise you, Kol, I will kill her for you…but he will never know"

"What are you saying?" Kol asked in shock

"I'm saying wait for the right time before you do anything" I explained and walked into the living room.

Klaus was sitting, Marcel by his side, laughing hysterically

"I have waited for this day for days now" Marcel explained

"What's happening?" I demanded

"We are opening gifts now, I presume?" Klaus asked

"Yes, yes we are" I confirmed

"Well I did something…" Klaus started explaining as he opened his arm to reveal an 'H' tattoo

"Oh my god" everyone exclaimed as we went up to him to see it

"Klaus…this is the perfect gift for Hope…it perfectly resembles your eternal love for her…and I thought you'd forget to get a gift. I'm so ashamed"

He smiled as I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him

"Was it painful?" I asked

"Not at all" he replied

Marcel started laughing again

"He kept on flinching. He was all like 'is it done? Is it done?'" Marcel clarified

"Nonsense" Klaus snapped

"Aww" I whispered as I kissed him "I promise I won't tell Hope about this"

I took a step back and analysed his new tattoo

"It's actually not only for Hope" he said shyly

I took a moment to digest the new information before it hit me. I looked up into his eyes as tears filled up mine.

"You did it for me too?!" I asked with an overexcited voice

He looked away and nodded.

After everyone said their "aww"s and finally moved on to opening their own gifts, we finally had a moment alone

"Klaus this is a huge commitment" I whispered into his ear as he showed Hope his new tattoo.

"It's not that dramatic love" he said

"Klaus I'm not sure if I say this enough, but I love you"

He smiled one of those smiles that made your heart melt

"I prepared a gift for you as well, but it's much less beautiful than this"

"What is it?" he asked as he turned to look at me

"You'll see tonight" I whispered "But I'm sure it'll make you the happiest man alive"

A big smile took over his face

"Finally" he replied

I smiled back and kissed him and Hope on their cheeks

Now that that was settled, I went back to check on everyone else. They seemed pleased with their gifts. I received some too. Clothes, books, weapons and other interesting things. At the end Caroline came up to me with a box.

"I saw this and thought you may like it. It's purple, which is the colour of royalty" she said as she opened the box to reveal a necklace with a huge purple rock.

"It's beautiful" I commented "Thank you very much"

She grinned and went back to stand with Elijah. I felt bad. I only got her a book. But in my defence, I do hate her.

"Hayley dear, haven't you gotten Hope anything?" Mikael asked

I remembered my surprise in her playroom and happiness took over me.

"Of course I do! Klaus bring her to the playroom please!" I exclaimed and rushed in first

She screeched in delight as Klaus place her next to her castle and car. She climbed into it and started playing with the horn. It made a soft beep. Klaus came closer to me and embraced me from the back.

"Both of you are so amazing, you make me understand why it's still worth to live in this wretched world after a thousand years"

I put my hand on his and sighed

"I'm sorry for all the wrongful things I have told you Klaus. Trust me, I would never be this happy if I never met you"

He kissed me on the neck and squeezed me closer to him. Together we watched as our overexcited baby played with her new toys hyperactively.
