Chapter 37

"Well, look at this I'm getting a father-son special today. Hey, Jake, Hey, Jason." Robin greeted the pair.

"Hi, Aunt Robin," Jake returned the greeting.

"Sam and Lila were having a girls' day today, so Jake is stuck with his amnesiac daddy." Jason replied. He was in the hospital for one of his treatments.

"If you want I can take him to the daycare and he can play with Emma while you're in here. I know that there is no way he is going to be able to sit still for two hours." Robin told him.

"That's up to Jake. I don't mind him hanging around if he doesn't mind hanging around up here." Jason left it up to Jake.

"Jake stay with daddy, Aunt Robin." Jake replied.

"Alright, just let me know if you change your mind." Robin smiled at him. "Patrick will be in to check on you in a little while you let him know if you need anything."

"Robin, I will be fine you don't have to worry about me. I have Jake for entertainment. I'm sure that this will go quickly today." Jason brushed off her concern.

"Jason, when I say this I'm not being unkind, but you don't know your son right now. He is a little pistol." Robin warned him.

"I'm sure I can handle him. If I can handle Sam I can handle him. Patrick has told me some horror stories about Sam." Jason chuckled.

"Patrick isn't innocent in the matter. If he told you stories about Sam he was more likely than not involved." Robin replied.

"I'll take my chances. Jake promised me that he would be good today so we will see." Jason retorted.

"Like I said if you need anything have a nurse page me and I will be right here." Robin waved at them before she walked out of the room.

"Well, Jake, it looks like it's just you and me. What do you want to do?" Jason asked his son.

"Mommy put Jake's motorcycles in daddy's bag we play motorcycles while daddy gets his medicine." Jake unzipped Jason's backup and got his toy motorcycles out.

"That sounds like a good plan to me let's play." Jason agreed with him.

Circumstances not withstanding Jake and Jason had a good time together for the two hours that he was in treatment. Patrick released Jason for the day with only minimal questioning about the state of his memory for a change. It was probably because Jake was in the room and he didn't want to press the issue too hard and make Jason lose his temper.

"Look, daddy, there's Aunt Emily." Jake exclaimed happily as they walked by the nurses' station and saw Emily standing there.

"Let's go say hi then." Jason picked Jake up and sat him on the counter.

"Well, if it isn't my brother and my nephew. It's a nice surprise to see the two of you today." Emily smiled at them.

"Hi, Aunt Emily." Jake grinned at her.

"Hi, Jakie," Emily kissed the top of his head.

"Hey, Emily," Jason waved at his sister.

"Hey, Jase, did you by chance see mom and dad yet?" Emily asked him.

"I talked to them both when I first got here. Alan invited me to play golf with him tomorrow morning and I guess I'm going to go because he's trying and I don't want to hurt his feelings. He looked shocked when I said yes." Jason stuffed his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket.

"Let's just say that playing golf with dad and grandfather isn't your thing and leave it at that. At least it hasn't been your thing for about twenty years." Emily explained to him.

"I guess the first version of Jason was different than the one that everyone knows now." Jason mused.

"You could say that, but we all learned from our mistakes. We just want you to be happy and healthy. That's all that matters to any of us." Emily patted his shoulder.

"Emily, I got the test results on that patient that you needed." Elizabeth walked up to the nurses' station.

"Thanks, Elizabeth," Emily smiled tightly at her.

"Jason, I'm sorry that I missed you during treatment today. I was swamped down in the emergency room." Elizabeth smiled flirtatiously.

"No worries, I had my boy to keep me company today. We played motorcycles and watched Jason Bourne movies. His mommy will probably murder me, but it was the only way to keep him from running around the hospital like a crazy man." Jason chuckled.

"Hi there, Jakie, how are you?" Elizabeth cooed at the little boy.

Jake buried his face into Jason's shoulder and refused to look at her.

"Jake, it's ok you don't have to be shy. Elizabeth is a friend of daddy's." Jason tried to soothe him.

"It's ok, Jase, Jake can be a little shy sometimes. He must not feel like talking right now." Emily shot Elizabeth a look and rubbed her nephew's back.

"Daddy, can we go see mommy and Lila now?" Jake's bottom lip quivered and his big blue eyes filled with tears.

"We sure can. We need to get going if we are going to meet them for lunch. You know that we don't want to keep them waiting." Jason picked him up and put him on his shoulders. "Bye, Em, bye, Elizabeth." He walked to the bank of elevators without another word.

"Don't push your luck, Elizabeth. You're pathetic trying to take advantage of an injured man. You know once he gets his memories back he will never speak to you again." Emily spat out.

"Says the woman who has the baby I gave birth to calling her mommy." Elizabeth shot back.

"Because you clearly don't deserve that title. And it just so happens that a judge agrees with me or you would have custody of Cam, but you don't." Emily glared at her and stalked off.

"Oh, Jase, you look, well you look ridiculous, but I love you anyway." Sam laughed the next morning.

"I feel ridiculous if that makes you feel any better." Jason sighed. He was dressed in a pair of khakis and a long sleeved yellow polo shirt with a powder blue sweater over it. He was going golfing with his father and grandfather. "I love you too even though you're laughing at me right now."

"Jason, I can't help it this is just so out of character for you to dress like this." Sam put her hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter.

"I much rather go sit around the office and wait for a case to come in with Johnny than go do this. It's just I'm trying to be Jason Quartermaine, Jason Morgan, and Jason Bourne all at the same time." Jason groaned.

"Jason, what did you just say? How'd you know that your name was Jason Morgan? That was one of the things that you didn't want me to tell you and you wanted to remember on your own." Sam questioned him.

"I don't know where that came from it just popped into my head and I said it." Jason admitted.

"I think that you're remembering more than you think you are it's just subtle and you don't notice it. Do you know Lila's full name?" She asked.

"Lila Emily Natasha Davis Morgan," Jason answered.

"What about Jake's?" Sam went on.

"Jacob Michael Lucky Davis Morgan," Jason again gave he correct answer.

"Anything else you remember?" Sam asked him.

"I remember waking up in the hospital and Tina was there. She was younger though. I guess that was from right after my first accident." Jason replied.

"I'm going to call Patrick and see what he thinks. But you are starting to take a step in the right direction I'm so happy that you're starting to remember stuff." Sam planted a kiss on his lips.

"I can't wait until I remember you and all that we shared together. If my love for you is this intense after only a couple of weeks. I want to feel the full depth of it." Jason kissed her again.

"Jason Morgan, you're going to spoil me with how romantic you're being." Sam wrapped her arms around his neck.

"We can't break Jake's heart and make me Jason Morgan again just yet. I can be Jason Bourne until I get my memories back." Jason chuckled.

"I oughta break his Uncle Johnny's neck for ever letting him watch those movies in the first place. He loves them and likes to pretend that he's a super spy." Sam laughed.

"If he wants to play spy let him. It's good for a little boy his age to have an imagination." Jason winked at her.

"Jase, you better get out of here. You don't want to be late." Sam kissed him one last time before forcing him out the door.

"Stefan, it's a very pleasant surprise to see you here this afternoon. If you're looking for Tina I think that she has an afternoon yoga class today." Carly leaned over from behind the bar to kiss his cheek.

"I'm not here for Kristina. I'm sure that she is keeping herself out of trouble just fine." Stefan replied.

"If this is about Johnny he finished school and kept up his end of your deal. If he doesn't have sound business practices then you'll have to take that up with him." Carly threw her hands up in a sign of surrender. "And if you're here to meet Jax I feel it's my duty to warn you that there are cameras in here."

"Carly, relax I simply came over here because I needed to get out of the office for lunch. I also have a meeting. How is my future niece or nephew doing today?" Stefan put her fears at ease.

"Fine, I'm hoping that this one is a girl. I love all of Sonny's girls like they are mine, but it would be nice to give birth to a girl for a change. Who are you meeting?" Carly was one of the only people who could get away with asking him all those questions. He looked upon her as another baby sister. He stood by her even when she did highly questionable things. Sure he would scold her for her wrongdoings, but still he always had her back.

"That's good to hear. That, my dear, is none of your business." Stefan grinned at her.

"Stefan, you're no fun. You know that if I really wanted to I could find out anyway." Carly pouted.

"I'm aware of your talents for poking your nose where it doesn't belong, Caroline. This is just one thing that is going to be left a mystery for now." Stefan teased her playfully. He was in a much better mood than normal.

Carly glared at her phone when it rang. "You're lucky that there is a hotel related emergency that I have to take care of right now or I would keep pressing for an answer. Don't think this is over though." She warned him as she walked away.

"Finally, I thought that she would never leave." A female voice said from behind him.

Stefan looked over his left shoulder with a smile on his face. "Hello, beautiful, I've been looking forward to seeing you all morning." He took her hand and kissed it.

"Stefan, you have a way with words." Olivia smiled back at him.

"Come now, have a seat." Stefan pulled out a chair for her. They'd had a thing going since the night of the benefit. For once in his life he was doing something for himself. Everything else he did was for his sisters, his nieces, and his nephews. He enjoyed spending time with Olivia and he liked the way she made him feel.

Olivia took the offered seat beside him. "I've been looking forward to seeing you all day as well." She never thought that she would fall for him. She'd quickly found out that there was more to him than the cold, rough exterior he showed to the rest of the world. Underneath he was kind and sweet in his own way.

"If Carly comes back up here then my lunch meeting got canceled and you just happened to run into me and decided to keep me company." Stefan told her. The last thing he wanted was for Carly to find out about this and blab to his sisters before he had a chance to see if this was going to go anywhere. It wasn't that he was ashamed of her. He just wanted the chance to figure things out for himself without his sisters meddling. He didn't stop to think that he did the same thing to them all of the time.

"I've got it you're keeping me your dirty little secret." Olivia grinned at him.

"I'm keeping you secret from my troublesome baby sisters. You're not dirty at all. Although there are very dirty things that I would love to do to you." Stefan grinned back at her. He looked to make sure that no one was watching them before he pulled her into a kiss.

"I understand; I haven't told Dante about you either. You won't have to worry about Carly for the rest the afternoon she may or may not be dealing with a little problem I created for her just to give us some privacy." Olivia feigned innocence.

"You will fit right in with the rest of the women in my life. They enjoy a good scheme as much as you do." Stefan gave a hearty laugh.

"Claudia, thank you for stopping by on such short notice." Laura greeted the younger woman when she walked aboard the Haunted Star.

"You said you needed to see me and I came as soon as I could. What's going on?" Claudia asked in reply.

"I called you because I wanted to talk to you about Lucky. I know that you two only married to keep your baby sister could stay home where she belonged, but I also know that you care about him. I can tell that much from looking at you." Laura replied.

"Is everything ok with Lucky?" Claudia asked concerned. As far as she everything with him was fine. If something had happened to him at work she would have gotten a call by now.

"That's what I was hoping you could tell me. Cam said that he's been very crabby lately. I've noticed that he's been short and irritable with me when he picks him up and drops him off. That's the type of behavior that he displayed when he was on drugs." Laura explained to her.

"I don't know if that's it. I know that he and Dante have both been putting in very long hours trying to find Helena. He's hasn't been getting a lot of sleep. He ran out of pills weeks ago and when I asked him if he was going through withdrawals he swore to me that he wasn't." Claudia searched her mind to see if there was anything that she'd missed.

"He's Luke Spencer's son he is a very skilled liar when he has to be. If this conversation is bringing anything that he's said or done into question I want you to ask him to his face if he's on pills again. If he gets defensive about it or there is any doubt left in your mind wait until he's out of the apartment and tear it about looking for his stash." Laura instructed her daughter-in-law.

"I already told him that I love him, but I refuse to love him to death. I can't be that naïve to think that he wouldn't lie to me. Everything is in question right now. I've noticed how cranky and secretive he's been lately. I catch him with his back turned to me all the time and he tells me that he's just checking his phone. He gets strange calls in the middle of the night. I don't know about his finances because he handles his and I handle mine. He did ask me to borrow twenty bucks until he gets paid the other day." Claudia ran her hands over her face. Had she really let Lucky backslide into his addiction right under her nose? What was going to happen to Cam? A judge had ruled that Lucky was better for him than Elizabeth, but would he change his mind if he found out he had to enter rehab?

"Honey, it's not your fault. He has a disease that he has a very good handle on most of the time. It just got the better of him for the moment. That doesn't mean that he doesn't want to fight it. He may just need our help to fight it. I know that he loves you and if he were himself he wouldn't want to hurt you like this. Ask Sam to talk to him and see if she sees any of the warning signs. She is his best friend she knows him better than he knows himself. We don't even know that there is anything to be worried about yet. The thing to do is head it off before it gets a chance to get out of control." Laura wrapped her in a big hug.

"I can do that. I will do everything I can to help him get better if he slipped again. As long as he gets help I'm willing to be by his side. If he refuses help then I won't stand at his side and watch him kill himself." Claudia replied.

Jason looked around the country club he was sitting in warily. He wanted to be anywhere else in the world right now. He'd spent the morning playing golf with his father and grandfather. To say that he hated every second of it would be the understatement of the century. He didn't want to hurt his father or grandfather's feelings by telling them that. So instead he silently prayed that his phone would ring with some sort of emergency that only he could take care of.

"Jason, my boy, I can't tell you how good is it to have you here with us today. It's been a very long time since we all hit the links together." Edward beamed at his favorite grandson.

"It's good to be here, Edward." Jason gave him a half smile back.

"Nonsense, call me grandfather." Edward insisted.

"Father, try not to scare him away." Alan cautioned his father.

"I don't mean to come on so strong it has just been a long time since he has been this close to us." Edward replied.

"It seems that I'm so good at pushing the people I care about away that my own wife was afraid to admit to tell me anything about my life. If I hurt you I'm sorry." Jason apologized.

"We weren't the most understanding with you. We pushed you to be someone that you couldn't even remember. If anyone should be sorry it's us." Alan dismissed his apology.

"And we pushed him right into the waiting arms of Sonny Corinthos." Edward griped.

"Father, that is Jason's father-in-law." Alan pointed out to him.

"You say father-in-law I say possible cult leader. He can't even let the boy have a day with his own family without sending one of his goons with him." Edward pointed to Ethan who sat at the bar.

"Jason has enemies who would love to catch him in a vulnerable state right now. Ethan is here for his protection." Alan reminded him.

"He's here to keep an eye on me so Sam knows that I'm not doing anything to get hurt. She said that with my skills it's like giving a toddler a loaded weapon." Jason corrected. His head snapped over in a direction where he heard a commotion.

A fight had broken out between two of the members and now security was trying to break them apart without much success.

Jason didn't think he just reacted. He rushed over to the two men and subdued them without anyone getting hurt. He looked down at his hands after he'd finished. Sam was right without the control and the memory to back it up he could be dangerous to himself and to others.

"You ok, mate?" Ethan asked when he walked over to check on him.

"I'm fine, I'm just glad that I was in control. I could have really hurt someone." Jason replied.

"But you didn't you controlled it. Go back to your dad and granddad I've got your back." Ethan patted his shoulder.

"Don't talk, don't breathe wrong, just get naked. I have exactly an hour for lunch and I don't want to waste it arguing with you." Maxie walked into Johnny's hotel room and started stripping out of her clothes the moment she shut the door behind her.

Johnny grinned up at her from the bed. He was spread out naked as the day he was born. "I'm already naked. You're the one wasting time by giving me orders."

"Thank God, you paid attention to the text that I sent you for once." She crawled on top of him naked and straddled him. "I don't want you talking because there is something that I much rather have your tongue doing." She kissed him and pulled on his bottom lip.

"Oh yeah? What's that?" He squeezed her ass with both hands.

"I want you to do that thing that made me make that noise last time you did it." She whispered huskily in his ear.

"I know what thing you're talking about." He flipped them over and pinned her body underneath his.

He took his sweet time kissing down her body. He sucked each of her nipples and teased them to hard points before he continued his trek downwards. He used his knee to spread her legs wider to allow him to work his magic. He buried his face between her legs and he teased her clit with the tip of his tongue. He smirked to himself when she let out a loud gasp.

The pair had spent at least one hour an afternoon together and a few hours together at night since the hospital benefit. They had agreed that they were just using each other for sex and this was supposed to be fun and uncomplicated. It made more sense for them to give into the obvious chemistry they shared than for them to ignore it. Neither one of them would ever admit to it, but they liked spending time with each other for more than just sex.

"Oh, God!" Maxie cried out as she climaxed.

"You don't have to call me God I'll answer to Johnny." Johnny smirked up from between her legs.

"This is why we have a rule about you not talking during our afternoon sessions. You totally just ruined the awesome orgasm that you gave me. Actually that's not true, nothing can ruin that not even your smart ass mouth." Maxie pulled him up to her by his hair and kissed him.

"I told you that this arrangement was a very good idea. I think that fact that we annoy the shit out of each other makes the sex ten times better." Johnny opened a condom and rolled it down his thick shaft. She was on birth control, but they were being doubly careful to ensure that they didn't end up with a baby that neither of them would know how to take care of.

"Shut up and fuck me." Maxie ordered him.

Johnny didn't need any further encouragement. He entered her in one fluid motion.

"Claudia, what's going on? Where's Cam?" Lucky greeted his wife with a kiss when he came home from the station.

"I wanted to have a talk with you and I didn't want to do it in front of him." Claudia replied.

"About what?" Lucky started to panic a little on the inside. Maybe he hadn't been as careful as he'd thought he'd been. Maybe she was starting to suspect that something was up.

"Lucky, your mom called me down to the Star to talk today because she is worried about you. She seems to think that you're back on the pills again." Claudia informed him. She made sure that she was looking him in the eyes. She wanted to see what kind of reaction he had to that statement.

"Claudia, you can't listen to everything that my mother says. She is paranoid and scared that I am going to wind up on the drugs again. I'm sure she said something along the lines of I've been cranky and irritable and short with her. I'm tried I'm working my ass off to find a fucking crazy woman. What I need is a little bit of support from my wife. Give me some damn credit. I promised you that I wouldn't get back on them and I'm not. I need you to trust me over my mother." Lucky turned it around on her and made it seem like she was being a bad wife for asking him.

"Lucky, I need you to look me in my eye and swear to me that you're not back on those pills again. If you are there is no shame in it and we will get you the help that you need. I'm not judging you I'm only trying to support you and help you. Your mom is just worried about you because she loves you and only wants what's best for you." Claudia informed him with her hands on her hips.

Lucky took her face in his hands. "Claudia, I swear to you on a stack of holy bibles that I'm not on those pills again. You and my mom are both worried about nothing right now. I wouldn't do that to you or to Cam. You both need me. Dante needs me to have my shit together and help him find that witch. I just need you to believe in me and believe that everything I say is true."

"Ok, you're right, I'm sorry. I believe you. I just had to be sure, Lucky. I don't want to see you hurt yourself or worse because your addiction is out of control again. Like I told you before I love you, but I won't love you to death." Claudia leaned in and kissed his lips gently.

"I'll tell you what I'm going to go pick up Cam and we will get a pizza on the way home. How's that sound to you?" Lucky smiled at her.

"That sounds pretty good to me." Claudia smiled back at him.

"I'll be back as soon as I can then." Lucky walked back out the door.

Claudia stood there for a moment looking at the empty spot he'd just vacated. Laura's words echoed in her head. 'if he gets defensive about it or you have any doubt tear the house apart' She debated the wisdom of doing that especially if she didn't finish before he got back.

"Fuck it, it's better to be safe than sorry. I want to know that he doesn't have a stash here that way I'll no longer have these doubts." She said to herself.

Lucky leaned up against the door to his apartment. He pulled the brand new pill bottle out of his jacket pocket. He was so thankful that he'd had it on his person and not in the apartment in his hiding spot. Running out of pills when he did had been a good thing. Now Claudia would never know that he had them. He was going to get this under control he was just regulating himself again.
