Embry's point of view
I just got done with patrolling then I decided to go on a run. Running was my stupid way of escaping the world. My brain could finally think without other pack members bombarding my head; it also was away to get a second of peace without my mom yelling at me. I was running on the beach when I heard a voice.
"Hey Embry right?" Rachel Black called. She was sitting on a huge rock that ledged out on a more private spot on the beach. She looked beautiful, she wasn't as tall as Leah nor did she have Leah's ass but she was thinner and more petite. She was more of a cute yet sexy type of pretty and I was attracted to her. I guess it was really obvious because the whole pack, mainly Jake, chewed me out for "flirting with her".
"Yeah, hey Rachel." I said trying to calm my breathing.
"What are you doing up so early?" Rachel asked.
"Um I decided to go on a run. What about you?" I smiled. It wasn't a complete lie. I wasn't going to tell her I had to patrol as a wolf this morning. But the part about the run was true.
"Well that explains the lack of your shirt." Rachel laughed.
"Can I come up there?" I asked giving her a charming smile. She nodded as I climbed up the rock, I realized her eyes were glued to my body the whole time, which gave me a major confidence boost and some courage.
"So you still haven't told me why you're here." I said. She reached behind her and handed me a sketch pad and pencils.
"Wow, you draw?" I asked surprised.
"I used to when I was younger but then my mom died. I mean I kept going in junior high but stopped when everyone mentioned she also was an artist. I remember her drawing with me when I was little and painting. I don't know, I thought coming back here would bring me some inspiration, but there's nothing. Sorry this sounds stupid." Rachel shook her head looking down. I was shocked she was being this honest with me.
"No it doesn't sound stupid. I think it's amazing that you got your mom's talent and you are brave enough to come here when all these reminders of her hurt you. There's tons of inspirational things down here, maybe you just are too tense to see them." I said tilting her head up with my fingers.
"So you're saying I'm too rigid to find inspiration?" Rachel playfully scolded.
"No, I'm simply saying you're too focused. Where's the fun in that? Look can I draw something?" I smirked. She nodded and handed me the paper. I pretended to be focused and took my time before handing it back to her.
"Oh my goodness. A smiley face." Rachel laughed so hard. I chuckled along with her enjoying how I could make her ease up.
"What? See simple is better." I laughed while she just continued to laugh.
"Thank you." She said before pecking my cheek. Our eyes met for a brief moment and I felt my own heart race. We both quickly looked away blushing.
"So how's college been?" I asked changing the subject.
"Well, it's almost over but to be honest I really don't like it. I always thought college would be the best years of my life but it just sucks. I am almost done with my masters in teaching. Maybe I wish Leah or someone went with me. Rebecca just got married and moved to Hawaii. Now I have no idea where to go." She explained.
"I'm sure you will figure it all out. You are Billy Black's daughter after all." I smirked.
"So what about you Embry?" She smiled.
"Um graduated high school, but no college. I sort of have a job working for the reservation." I answered feeling slightly stupid. I barley graduated high school and she basically has her masters for college. I was her younger brother's age, which made me feel stupid being younger than her.
"Oh what is the job?" She asked.
"I would tell you, but I would have to kill you." I joked making her laugh. I obviously couldn't tell her about phasing and protecting the reservation from vampires in a pack in which her brother was the alpha of.
"Well thank you for cheering me up Embry. I'm sorry but I have to go get my dress fitted for Leah's wedding. It was really nice seeing you again." She smiled.
"Yeah, it was nice seeing you too. Have fun with the bridezilla." I grinned making her laugh as she left. She turned around glancing at me then blushed, knowing I caught her glance. I just wanted to keep seeing her. I wanted to keep seeing Rachel Black.
Later: Rachel's point of view
"Wow Rachel that dress looks stunning on you. Be careful bitch, I don't need someone out shinning me on my wedding day." Leah laughed smacking my ass. I just smiled.
"What's wrong with you? You seem weird." She stated. I let out a shaky breath looking at my body in the mirror.
"Embry Call." I let out a frustrated sigh. Leah gave me a strange face.
"What about Bry?" Leah asked. I felt a weird shot off jealousy flow through me, I simply didn't like her calling Embry 'Bry' like she was so close to him. Then the bitch called jealousy went away and I realized how stupid I was. He wasn't mine to call dib's on and Leah was way too in love with Paul.
"I don't know. We ran into each other this morning and he said some things to me that no one has ever said. Not bad things, just different. He's different in a good way. Like he gets under my skin but in a good way. He's so sweet to me and I think it's stirring up feelings. Which makes me feel stupid because I have only known him for two days." I groaned annoyed and frustrated.
"Wait so you are telling me you met a nice guy that is a good kind of different? I am so sorry, you poor thing." Leah said sarcastically. It made me smile slightly.
"I know I'm sounding like such a brat but I don't want to get interested. He is Jake's best friend, my little brother's best friend. So he's what twenty at the oldest? I'm fucking twenty six. There is too big of an age gap. Plus he might not be interested." I sighed defeated.
"Rachel I love you but shut the hell up. So what about age? I'm twenty four and Paul's not even twenty two yet. Seriously it doesn't bother me. And Embry being Jake's best friend couldn't be better. Yeah it would be awkward at first but then they would get used to it. It means he will surely treat you right. Plus you don't know how much Jake and all these guys have been through. They had to grow up. Don't turn down Embry over things he has no control over." Leah said dead serious which kind of shocked me.
"Do you think he's interested?" I asked nervously.
"Embry Call is beyond interested in you. He barley left your side at the bonfire. Maybe he could be your date to the wedding." Leah smirked at me. I blushed badly.
"Plus you cannot deny he has a great body." Leah teased making me laugh.
"Wow sounds like someone has a crush on him." I teased back.
"Nope, Paul's the only guy." Leah beamed.
"Keep telling yourself that Leah." I sassed.
"The dress looks good on you. Oh and go suck Embry's dick." Leah sassed back.
"I will thanks." I laughed. I was really unsure of what would happen. All I knew was I wanted to keep seeing him. I wanted to keep seeing Embry Call.
