Disclaimer: I won the Doctor in a poker game. Moffat has a shit poker face…what do you mean he's not in charge anymore?

Ch. 37:

The light of the regeneration died away and there stood River Song.

"Right, let's see, then." She said, feeling her body. "Ooh, it's all going on down there, isn't it? The hair!" She ran to the mirror above the fireplace. "Oh! The hair, it just doesn't stop, does it? Look at that! Everything changes! Oh, but I love it, I love it! I'm all sort of…mature!"

She stuck her foot on a piece of furniture and tried to look seductive.

"Hello, Benjamin!"

The Doctor covered his eyes before reaching over and covering Jenny's.

"Who's Benjamin?" he hissed at Amy.

"The teeth!" Melody said, turning back to the mirror. "The teeth, the teeth!" She ran to the others. "Oh, look at them!" She grabbed the Doctor. "Watch out! That bow tie! Excuse me, you lot, I need to weigh myself!"

She ran to the restroom, leaving the others sitting on the edge of the desk, stunned.

"That's Melody?" Amy asked weakly.

"That's River Song." Rory corrected.

Melody appeared at the door.

"Who's River Song?" she asked.

They all turned to look at her.

"Spoilers." The Doctor said weakly.

"Spoliers?" Melody repeated. "What's spoilers? Hang on, just have something I have to check!"

She ran back into the other room.

"Is anybody else finding today just a bit difficult?" Rory asked. "I'm getting a sort of banging in my head."

"Yeah, I think that's Hitler in the cupboard." His wife told him.

"That's not helping." He said, glaring.

"This isn't the River Song we know yet." The Doctor told them, walking across the room. "This is her right at the start. Doesn't even know her name."

"But did you hear what she said?" Jenny asked, walking over to her father. "She said she'd done this before and mom was with her."

"Yes, she did." The Doctor confirmed.

"That means mom found her." Jenny said, excitedly. "And if she can find Melody, we can find her."

The Doctor smiled softly.

"Yeah, it does."

Jenny threw herself into his arms and he spun her around.

"Ah, that's magnificent!" they heard Melody exclaim before coming back out. "I'm going to wear lots of jodhpurs!"

She sighed deeply and smiled.

"Well, now, enough of all that!" She pulled a gun and aimed it at the Doctor. "Down to business."

Jenny pulled away from her father and fought him as he tried to push her behind him.

"It's alright." He told her before focusing on Melody. "Hello. I thought we were getting married."

"I told you, I'm not a wedding person." She told him.

"Doctor, what's she doing?" Rory demanded.

"What she's programmed to." He replied.

"Where'd she get the gun?" Rory asked.

"Hello Benjamin."

Melody put her leg up on the chair and quickly reached back to grab the gun off the seat of the chair.

"You noticed!" she said happily, before pulling the trigger.

But nothing happened.

"Of course I noticed." He told her.

As Melody regenerated, The Doctor pulled Jenny away. As they stumbled into the chairs, he spotted the gun and quickly removed the bullets.

"As soon as I knew you were coming, I tidied up a bit." The Doctor said, walking towards her.

"I know you did." She said, tossing the gun away before reaching into her vest.

When Melody threw herself at the Doctor, she reached behind him and grabbed the gun from the fruit bowl.

"I know you know." He replied.

As she reached behind him, the Doctor spun the fruit bowl so Melody actually grabbed a banana.

Melody pulled the banana out of her vest and sighed.

"Goodness, is killing you going to take all day?" she asked.

"Why?" the Doctor asked, taking the banana. "Are you busy?"

"Oh, I'm not complaining." She said.

She grabbed the letter opener from Hitler's desk and swiped at the Doctor, who pointed the sonic screwdriver at her and forced her to drop it.

"If you were in a hurry, you could've killed me in the cornfield." He told her.

"We'd only just met." Melody replied. "I'm a psychopath. I'm not rude."

She took the gun from the fruit bowl and fired. The Doctor held up the clip and blew on it.

"You are not a psychopath!" Amy protested. "Why would she be a psychopath?"

"Oh, Mummy, Mummy, pay attention." Melody said as she and the Doctor circled each other. "I was trained and conditioned for one purpose. I was born to kill the Doctor."

"Demons Run." Jenny said, moving over to Amy and Rory. "That's what they were trying to do. Build a psychopath to kill the Doctor."

The Doctor and Melody wound up face-to-face.

"I'm all yours, sweetie." She said, kissing him lightly.

"Only River Song gets to call me that." The Doctor told her.

"And who is River Song?"

The Doctor pulled away slightly.

"An old friend of mine." He replied.

"Stupid name." she said.

Melody walked to the window.

"Oh, look at that!" she stepped on to the windowsill. "Berlin on the eve of war. A whole world about to tear itself apart." She turned back. "Now that's my kind of town. Mum, Dad, don't follow me. And yes, that is a warning." She looked at Jenny and winked.

"No warning for me, then?" the Doctor asked.

"No need, my love." She replied. "The deed is done and so are you."

The Doctor's legs wobbled and Jenny grabbed him, holding him up as he grabbed his chest in pain.

"Doctor, what's wrong?" Amy shouted, she and Rory running to his side.

"What have you done?" the Doctor yelled. "River!"

"Oh, River, River, River!" Melody mocked. "More than a friend, I think."

"What have you done?!" the Doctor demanded, collapsing.

"It was never going to be a gun for you, Doctor." She told him. "The man of peace who understands every kind of warfare, except, perhaps, the cruelest."

The Doctor ran his finger across his lips.

"Kiss, kiss." She said, blowing him a kiss before jumping out the window.

"What's wrong with you?" Rory asked. "What's she done to you?"

"Poisoned me…but I'm fine." The Docot replied. "Well, no, I'm dying, but I've got a plan."

"What plan?" Amy demanded.

"Not dying." He told her. "See, fine!"

Jenny staggered as her father groaned and tried to fall.

"Okay, what do we do?" Rory asked. "How do we help you?"

"Take this!" he answered, giving Amy the sonic screwdriver. "The TARDIS can home in on it. Now, go, get after her!"

He pushed Rory to the window. As the man looked out, Jenny and Amy helped the Doctor to the TARDIS.

"You said the smoke was deadly." Amy pointed out.

"The smoke's fine." The Doctor replied. "The poison will kill me first. Now, get after River!"

He pushed Amy away and after a moment, she followed Rory.

"You too." He told Jenny. "Keep them safe. Melody probably won't hurt them, but we can't be sure."

"Are you going to be okay?" she asked.

He kissed her forehead.

"Go." He ordered.

She swallowed, but did as he asked. When he was alone, he stumbled into the smoke filled TARDIS.

"Extractor fans on!" he yelled.

Immediately, fans sucked the smoke out.

"Oh!" he said, surprised. "That works!"

He stumbled to the console.

Jenny arrived at the ground to see German officers lying everywhere, Rory and Amy speeding away on a motorcycle, and another officer on another motorcycle, following them.

Luckily, there was a truck.

The Doctor fell to the ground at the base of the console.

"I'm shutting down." He said, leaning against the rail. "Going to need an interface. Voice interface. Come on, emergency."

A hologram of himself appeared.

"Voice interface enabled." It said.

"Oh, no, no, no, no!" he moaned. "Give me someone I like."

Rose Tyler appeared.

"Oh, thanks!" he muttered. "Give me guilt!"

Martha Jones appeared.

"Also guilt!"

Donna Noble was next.

"More guilt!" he moaned again, closing his eyes. "Come on, there must be someone left in the universe I haven't screwed up yet."

"Well, I'm not sure I fit that bill, but I'm willing to try."

He opened his eyes to see a hologram of Lily smiling down at him.

"Lily." He whispered. "How-?"

"The Dark Phoenix saw this too." She said, kneeling in front of him. "She wrote me into the TARDIS emergency program. She didn't want you to be alone."

A tear slipped down his cheek.

"I miss you, Lily-girl." He told her softly. "Please come home."

"I'm not really her, Doctor." The hologram told him. "All I know is that the Dark Phoenix wrote overwhelming love for you into my program, so she must love you too. If I was real and I felt this, very little could keep me from coming back to you."

"But you're not here." He told her angrily.

"No, I'm not." She agreed. "But right now, you've been poisoned the oil of the Judas Tree. By my calculations, you have 32 minutes before you're dead."

"So you're saying I should regenerate?" he asked.

"Sorry, but from I can tell regeneration has been disabled." She replied thoughtfully. "32 minutes is all you've got.

"Unless I'm cured, right?" he shot back.

"There is no cure." She told him. "Better come up with another idea. 32 minutes isn't long and the real me will be very cross with you if you die here before you've found her."

"Well, god forbid we make Lily cross." He said, glaring. "It's not like she broke our bond and swanned off without me."

"She knew you couldn't follow where she was going." The hologram told him not unkindly. "Couldn't condone the lengths she'd go to to get the child back."

The Doctor groaned in pain again.

"You're running out of time, Time Lord." The hologram told him.

"Tell me how I'm supposed to do this!" he demanded. "You were supposed to be here! I spent months winning you back, did everything you asked. You weren't supposed to leave!"

He closed his eyes.

"Oh, my love." He heard her say softly. "As if I'd ever leave you alone."

His eyes snapped open to look at the hologram.

"I left you Jenny." She told him. "I left you our daughter. I would never truly leave you alone. I promise I'm making my way back to you, but you're going to have to stay alive if you want to see that happen."

He took a deep breath and nodded. He reached over and used the console to pull himself up. The hologram smiled brightly before disappearing.

He took another deep breath and then sent the TARDIS into flight.

Jenny slammed on the breaks of the truck and groaned. She had lost Amy and Rory in the confusion. She was about to turn back around to go back to her father, when she spotted a motorcycle laying in front of a hotel.

She ran inside to see Amy push a mirror out of her way and open her mouth to emit a bright beam, which hit Melody, making her scream.

"No! No! Get off me!"

"Sorry," came the Doctor's voice. "Did you say she killed the Doctor?"

Amy closed her mouth and Jenny looked behind her to see her father leaning against the TARDIS, dressed in tails and a top hat, carrying a cane.

"The Doctor?" he asked. "Doctor who?"

So what do you think? I've changed some things and more changes are to come.
