Hello everyone! I am so sorry for the wait...AGAIN. School is keeping me extremely busy at the moment, but I hope to find more time in a few weeks when fall sports end. When that is all done and over with, I will probably end up updating about 2 times a week so I can finish this story and make the sequel! I am very excited and I was wondering if you all would want to do the baby plot or not. I can add Hayley into it as well, since the sequel is going to be in NO set during TO. It will end up being like the beginning of this story and adding to the episodes until I can find something to differenciate myself. But until then, I hope you enjoy this chapter and tell me what you think!
I sighed as I heard Kol hum while walking past my bedroom door. Discreetly, I pulled him into my room and shut the door. I used my magic to cast a spell on my room so that no one could hear anything. Kol looked at me in surprise and smirked, "If you wanted a moment alone with me, you could have just asked, darling." I rolled my eyes and looked at him, "Something's wrong with me. I think I need your help." "Of course you do." Kol muttered but when he looked at my face, he added, "What's wrong?" I sighed as I started to tell him what happened.
That morning I woke up peacefully. I rolled over, expecting Niklaus to be there, but I found a blood bag with a note attached.
Went on a little business trip, be back in a few days
Always,
Nik
I sighed and used my powers to get changed before leaving my room. I sipped the blood bag and was about to knock on Rebekah's door, but it was thrown open. I stared in shock, seeing Stefan buttoning up his shirt. I cleared my throat, making my brother look up at me. I raised my eyebrows as he tried to look away in embarrassment. "Leaving so soon?" I asked teasingly, and my brother blushed. Rebekah then came out of her bathroom with a robe on and spoke, "Look who decided to be a creeping Tom this morning." I put my hands up in surrender and said, "Sorry to break up this sordid little tryst. But, I was just wondering where Nik went. He left me a note saying he would be back in a few days because he was on a business trip."
Rebekah gave me a confused look before answering, "Sorry, I'm not sure where he went." I shrugged it off and backed away from them, but Stefan stopped me, "Hey, Syd, I was wondering if you wanted to go hunting today." I smiled and nodded at my brother, and we walked down the stairs and away from Rebekah. In the foyer, Elijah stopped us, "I was wondering if I could join you two this morning." Before I could tell him to shove it, Stefan said with a smile, "Of course, Elijah. We are actually going hunting now if you want to come." Elijah nodded and we all left to the woods.
I sighed as I entered the forest, ignoring the two vampires following me. The forest was always somewhere I could relax. Stefan tapped my shoulder and pointed me towards a deer that was chewing on a leaf. "I can't believe I actually used to do this." I spoke, looking at my brother warily. Elijah walked up to my other side and whispered in my ear, "Close your eyes." I felt a flash of wind pass us by, and I opened one eye to find Stefan drinking from the deer.
I turned to face Elijah, and he just nodded at me and said, "Go ahead, you can do it." I took a deep breath before going up to the deer and biting into it. After a few seconds of sucking the animals' blood, I stood up, having enough. I watched it walk off and touched the blood on my mouth. Stefan then came up, rubbed my arm, and spoke as Elijah handed me a handkerchief, "Don't worry, it'll heal. Bigger animals are resilient, you taught me that."
Elijah then softly told as a tear slid down my cheek, "Hey, you did it. I know it's hard, but you can do this." I nodded and repeated, "I can do this." The two vampires smiled at me, and Stefan suggested, "Now, it's time for the fun part. Let's try out your powers." "Which ones?" I retorted, and Elijah replied, "All of them." I raised an eyebrow at that, and then I questioned them, "So what half first? Witch or vampire?"
Elijah smirked before replying, "Vampire." I scoffed at that, and tried to flash or do something vampy towards him. I couldn't. Stefan started laughing, and I complained, "Shut up! I've been a human for a few months, so I think I have an excuse!" Stefan then tried to explain to me what to do, "Okay, it's like the starting line of a race. You just push off with every ounce of strength that you have, and since you could take down Klaus, that would be a lot." I rolled my eyes at his comment and replied, "I am a cheerleader, I suck at track."
Eli then butted in and spoke, "Just concentrate." I did what he said, even though I was still kind of mad at him. Taking a deep breath, I started running. I suddenly stopped and found myself in a part of the woods that I did not know of. "Stefan? Elijah?" I called their names, and then wind rushed by me, signaling their presence. Turning to look at them, I saw the smiles on their faces. "You did it." "Did you ever doubt me?" I asked Elijah, and he shook his head and answered, "Not for a single moment." I flashed him a smile, and he did the same.
Stefan just shifted awkwardly and cleared his throat. "So, uh, now do you think we should test your magic?" I nodded and asked them, "What should I do?" "Many things can fuel a witch's power: Anger, sadness, happiness, love. Think of one of those things and let it take control." Elijah suggested, and I did what he said. I closed my eyes and focused, and all of a sudden, I felt a jolt of power come over me. Hearing a groan next to me, I opened my eyes and saw Elijah on the ground in pain. One part of me was begging to finish him off, but the other half felt the need to save him. I ignored Stefan's attempts to calm me down, and Eli's words rang in my head, Let it take over.
I added more pain, but I halted when Elijah groaned, "Sydney stop. Control yourself." I gasped as my powers recoiled and my mind was clear. I sighed, but snapped out of it and rushed towards my sire. "Are you okay? I'm sorry, but you were the one who said to let it take control." I apologized, and Stefan asked, "What did you focus on?" "Anger." I stated warily, and Elijah mumbled, "Well that explains it." I rolled my eyes at his comment and dropped the arm I was using to help him up, sending him to the ground.
I showered and changed into a new set of clothes once we got back to the house. Looking for Rebekah, I wandered into the garden and found her sitting on the bench. "When did we get a bloody rose bush?" She muttered to herself, and my mind drifted back to when Eli showed me it. I shook my head, shoving the feelings aside and called, "What are you doing?" "I'm sitting here, wondering why you do this all the time. It's boring." Bekah replied, and I laughed a little.
"And there's the laugh I was looking for. You and Stefan have been such bores lately, you two were so much fun in the 20s!" Rebekah responded, and I scoffed, "My brother was a psychotic emotionless killer in the 1920s, and I was a boring lurker who was trying to keep an eye on the Ripper of Monterey." "Your brother may have been a killer, but he was far from emotionless. And you, my friend, were the funnest girl around, Sydney. You had a blast, I know you remember that. The jazz, the booze, our little table at Gloria's." Rebekah said, and I sighed.
My friend then added, "Don't make me compel it out of you." I hesitated for a moment before replying and sitting down next to her, "Fine, I guess we had a little bit of fun." "Thank you, so now that we established that fun is in fact possible, why aren't you having any?" She spoke, and I shrugged before saying, " Being a vampire is not what I thought it would be. It's just different this time, Bekah. I'm different. I'm feeling things that I don't want to, and I'm becoming someone that I don't want to be." Rebekah put a comforting hand on my arm and she then said, "Syd, look around you. You're kind of bringing the mood down."
I looked around to see all of the flowers wilted and grey. "It'll get better, and if you start feeding off humans..." "I think I might. The bunny diet worked for me the first time, but it doesn't last. The hunger is still there, and you're weaker. I can't afford to be weak with what might happen." I cut her off. The ally that Jesse talked about was coming, and after what Sheila tod me about the future, I needed to be prepared and strong. Just then, Elijah came outside, "What happened to the garden?" Upon seeing him, my entire mood changed. I felt lighter, and Rebekah tapped my shoulder, "Sydney, look." I gasped when I saw the wilted and grayed flowers bloom into vibrant shades.
"What the?" I mumbled, and Elijah looked on in awe. Rebekah laughed in disbelief as the dew on the ground floated in the air in small drops that scattered. I smiled and could not believe that I could be doing this without even realizing or feeling my magic ware me out. I suddenly snapped out of my trance as Kol ran out of the mansion and commented, "Magnificent." The drops fell but the flowers stayed in tact as Eli asked, "What are you two doing?" I turned to the boys, "We were just discussing if I should drink human blood or not. What do you two think?"
"I think you should drink warm blood straight from the vein." Kol stated, but I already knew what he would say. I then turned to Elijah who told, "If you can get used to animal blood right out the gate, maybe you'll be able to bypass things we went through. You won't be able to handle it if you hurt someone, no one has not killed when on the human diet when they were new. You would be miserable if you don't have animal blood." I nodded, and agreed with what he was saying.
I hesitated before speaking, "Maybe you're right, I think I'll stick with the bunny diet." Kol groaned while Elijah smiled softly at me, and when the two of them walked back into the house, Rebekah turned to me, "What happened to thirty seconds ago when you were adamant about doing the human diet? What happened to 'I can't afford to be weak'?" I was about to retort, but I couldn't get anything out. She was right, but I changed my mind. I huffed and strolled back into the house, confused. Rebekah asked herself, "What just happened?"
I was on the phone with Elena, just chatting about our day, and about our new vampire lives. It turns out that she was having the same difficulties I was, except she could only feed straight from the vein which totally sucked, no pun intended. It was if both of our feelings for 'the other brothers' were amplified when we became vampires. "Damon has been helping me a lot and thanks to him, I'm a functional dysfunctional vampire." She said, and I replied, "That's amazing! But what do you mean thanks to Damon?" "He suggested that I try it again, and I did. And it worked, no more 'snatch, eat, erase'." Elena told, and I was happy for her, at least things were going up for someone.
"So where is my brother that hasn't seen me since I came back to life?" I asked her bitterly, and she ignored my comment and read a note that he left on her bed, "Out for the night with an old friend, don't wait up." I questioned my brother's ex-girlfriend, "An old friend? Do you have any idea who it is?" "No, but he has been acting kind of secretive lately, do you think he's out with a girl?" She asked me, and I laughed at that. "No, since you guys have a thing going on between you, I know he wouldn't do that."
"You're right. Sydney, can I tell you something?" Elena asked and I automatically said yes. "I think I'm falling in love with him." I raised an eyebrow at that and commented, "I've been there, trust me. I have fallen accidentally in love with someone before, and trust me, it bites you in the ass one day." "Being with Damon makes me happy. It feels unpredictable, like I'm free." Elena admitted, and I sighed, "I know that feeling well, and I'm happy for you Lena. After all you've been through, you deserve to be happy."
"Kol, what should I do?" I asked him frantically, and he rubbed my arm soothingly, "It's going to be okay. You just need a break, okay? We are going to go somewhere for a day or two." I was going to protest, but he put a finger to my lips. "Time out, trust me your problems are still going to be here when we get back. Step away from your life for five minutes. Do you trust me?" He asked, and I automatically responded, "Yes." Kol smiled his handsome smile and stated, "Then you have nothing to worry about."
Caroline, Rebekah, and Stefan all poured themselves glasses of scotch. Rebekah and Caroline vented to Stefan about their day and their feelings about Sydney. "It's not pretty and it's not easy, but Klaus can't give up on her. I mean Sydney and Klaus are epic, and her and Elijah are ehh." Caroline spoke, and Rebekah defended her brothers, "Hey! That's my family you're talking about, but I kind of have to agree with you. In the 20s, Nik and Syd were inseparable, and you could tell that they were meant to be. They are soul mates, and I can't believe she can't see it!"
Rebekah then "I talked to Niklaus this morning and he told me he has been making more hybrids. He really hates being away, but at a time like this, we need all the help we can get. Sydney was so worried today about what's going to happen next, and she's so paranoid...There's something wrong with her." Caroline then asked Stefan, "What's wrong with Elena as well? She's been acting weird ever since she turned, it's like she's Damon's own personal lap dog. And tell Klaus that he's going to need those hybrids because before Tyler and I broke up, he wanted to get all of them unsired."
They all stayed quiet for a moment before Rebekah realized something, "Oh my god...oh my god!" Caroline and Stefan gave her a look that said, 'What?' Rebekah stood up and shared, "I was trying to understand why Kol was so intrigued by Damon and Elena, and he said we would figure it out, this is what he meant. And Sydney..." Stefan then questioned, "What are you talking about?" "Think about it! Every time Sydney or Elena have had a problem, Elijah and Damon have been the magic solutions! Today Elena was worried about Jeremy, and Damon told her to calm down and she listened! Today Syd was so sad, but when my brother walked in she literally could not contain her happiness that she unknowingly used her magic. When Sydney was deciding to try human blood, who said that she would miserable without animal blood?" Rebekah ranted.
"Elijah." Caroline answered, and Stefan elaborated, "And when Sydney couldn't use any of her powers yet, Elijah told her that she could do it and she did." Caroline then added, "And when Elena tried to drink from animals and blood bags she couldn't keep it down because Damon told her she couldn't. Damon likes the red dress, Elena likes the red dress." "Damon says she should live with us, so she does." Stefan spoke, and Rebekah had a pit in her stomach as Caroline told, "What if it's possible? Damon's blood made Elena a vampire, and the same with Elijah and Sydney. It's rare, but it happens. What if this is one of those times? What if this is really happening?"
While I was sleeping in the car, my phone rang. Kol picked it up and laughed a little at the caller ID, "Hello brother." "Why the hell do you have Sydney's phone?" Niklaus growled, and Kol answered, "Well, Nik, if you must know, we're leaving town for a bit, going to have some fun." "No you are not, so return home or else you'll find yourself with a dagger in your heart in a box." He threatened, and Kol taunted, "No need to be nasty about it."
"Well, brother, I find nastiness to be essential whenever my siblings try to sabotage me. Listen closely Kol, stay away from Sydney, do you understand?" Niklaus growled, and Kol scoffed, "I don't think so, Nik. You see, I fancy her, I always have. But, listen closely to me, brother. You have bigger things to worry about than me stealing your girl. It just so happens that Sydney over here is sired to our elder brother." Kol then hung up and placed my phone down.
I opened my eyes to find Kol with a smirk on his face, "Oh god, what did you do?" "I might have told Niklaus about the sire bond." Kol innocently said, and I groaned, "Kol! Elijah doesn't even know about it yet and I really don't want either of them coming after us anytime soon. I need a break." "Exactly why we're going to a place where people know how to party." Kol hinted to me, and I questioned, "Where?" He smirked and stated, "Boston."
