Chapter 37

The time was now just gone 7. Zoe had just finished handover and was just getting changed she couldn't' wait to get home and have a nice relaxing bath after a hectic day. She could see all the other staff getting changed and going to the pub as usual, as she walked to her car and drove home. Once she had parked up, she got out her car and opened the door to the house and she could smell the gorgeous smell from cooking. "Hi Nick" She called.

I came out of the kitchen and kissed Zoe "Hi Zo, Kitchen is out of bounds."

"Why, that smells so nice." Zoe replied.

"You will find out soon enough" I replied.

Zoe nodded "I'm going up for a bath then"

"Don't be too long" I replied heading back into the kitchen.

Zoe had a puzzled look on her face as she headed upstairs and went and ran her bath. Once she had run her bath she got in it and had a nice soak. As much as she wanted to spend ages in the bath she knew she couldn't as Nick had plans for them. Back downstairs I was putting finishing touches to the table and lit the candles that I had managed to find. I found a bottle of white wine and poured two glasses a slightly smaller glass for myself. I got the vegetables ready to put on. I then went upstairs and called through the bathroom door "Zo dinner will be in ten minutes"

Zoe sighed as she got out the bath, she was grateful that Nick was surprising her.

I went back downstairs once I knew Zoe had heard me and put the vegetables on. I then got two plates out and laid the table and got out any sauces we may need including tomato ketchup for the potatoes.

Zoe came down in her onsie that she had put on after getting dried after her shower. She came downstairs after she had got dressed to find the kitchen door still shut

"Nick can I come into the kitchen yet." She called.

"No go and sit down in the lounge I will tell you when you can come in" I said as I started to serve.

Once I had served I put our plates on the table and then went to get Zoe. I told her to get up I then covered her eyes leading her into the kitchen. Zoe laughed at me doing this. I led her to her chair and helped her to sit down before moving my hands from Zoe's eyes. As soon as Zoe saw how romantic dinner looked she gasped and pulled me down and passionately kissed me. I kissed her back passionately and then we broke apart and I went to sit down opposite her.

WE ate our meal and chatted as we were eating. "Nick, thanks for this you didn't need to do this." Zoe said.

"I know I just wanted to babe." I replied.

"Thanks it delicious." Zoe replied.

Before we started eating we clashed our glasses together and said cheers I went to have a sip of my wine when Zoe says "To us"

"To us" I replied as we clashed our glasses together again. We then had a sip of our wine and started eating our dinner.

Once we had finished eating we jut put our plates on the side in the kitchen thinking we could do the clearing up later. I carefully picked up the candles and moved them into my bedroom and put them on the windowsill. WE then lay on my bed and cuddled up with each other and decided to watch a romantic film. We put the film on as we cuddled up. As it was a film neither of us had watched before we soon turned it and put the radio on as we weren't paying attention to the film as we were too busy kissing each other passionately. As we kissed Zoe was massaging the back of my neck while I had my hand rested on round her back and was gently massaging it. I decided to break away from the kiss and started kissing Zoe's neck. Zoe seemed to enjoy this. It wasn't too long before Zoe started unzip my onsie and started to kiss all down my chest. I'm so confused by what has happened, I come home from work to find that Nick has made me a lovely romantic meal. After we finished dinner, we went to Nick's bedroom and things became quickly heated. I went to get up from the bed and do the washing up from dinner, when Nick said "Zo please stay, I'm sorry, I know this sounds stupid but I need to see Yvonne first before anything like that happens and get Dianna's blessing to move."

I nod and sip my onsie back up but decide to do the washing up to have a think through what just happened.

I can't believe what has just happened it started of as such a perfect romantic evening, and then I had to go and ruin it. Even though Yvonne had been dead for a year I still felt like I was betraying her, I hope Zoe understands this. I lie on my bed having put my onsie back on for a few minutes going over what happened. I then decide to get up and blew the candles out that were now sitting on my window ceil and then made my way into the kitchen. I see Zoe washing up, I grab a towel and start to dry up. We both smile awkwardly at each other and for the first time in a long time were standing next to each other in an awkward silence. I decided to break this silence first "Zo, I'm sorry about what happened, I hope this doesn't affect anything between us, you know I care for you deeply."

Zoe just nodded in understanding.

"Zo I know it's difficult there are only two people that I have ever felt this close to that would be you and Yvonne." I say.

"Nick it's fine, that was moving to fast anyway I shouldn't have, I was to much in the moment." Zoe explains.

I nod "I think we both got caught up in the moment, lets go and cuddle up and watch that film"

Zoe nods and we finish clearing up from dinner.

After finishing clearing up from dinner we go into my or shall I say what appears to becoming our room and put the film on. I pull Zoe into a hug. I can tell that Zoe is a bit nervous cuddling into me after what has happened. I try to reassure that everything is ok. I decide to put the romantic film back on and we watch that. It wasn't long before Zoe was snuggled back into my arms where she belongs. I just hoped that situation hasn't ruined things between us. We snuggled up with each other enjoying the romantic film. When the film finished, I switched the TV of and Kissed zoe on the lips to which she cautiously kissed me back. I wanted to make it more passionate but didn't want to make Zoe feel more uncomfortable after what happened earlier. We then cuddled up with each other and went to sleep.
