You're My Absolution Chapter 35

Blaze POV

Silver came home at around 3:30 with only one bag in his hand and a slightly concerned look on his face.

"Did something happen while you were out with Sonic?" I asked being a good girlfriend.

"Kind of." Silver answered. "Sonic didn't show up, like at all. And the shop owner who saw him said he left with Amy, Sonia, and Sonia's new boyfriend who apparently looks a lot like me."

"Weird." I said slowly. "But at least Sonia seems to be out of our fur and spines for now."

"I guess, but I hope Sonic is okay." And with that we left it at that. We sat and watched TV for a little bit until it was time for us to get ready for our dinner date. I decided to let Silver go first so I could be sneaky and see what he bought at whatever store he went to. So when he closed the door to our room I went to the table where he put the bag and grabbed whatever was in it. I pulled out a small, black, and fuzzy box with a hinge on the back. I opened it and saw a diamond ring shining back at me.

"Oh my!" I said to myself in shock. But then a smile creeped onto my face when I realized Silver was going to propose to me tonight. I heard the doorknob turning so I put the ring back in the bag and sat back on the couch before Silver could see anything. He was wearing that teal vest he looks good in, but no gloves for some reason. So I asked him about that.

"Well, those are my only gloves and they're all sweaty. I figured you wouldn't want to have them in your hands when we hold them." Aww, he's nervous. I smiled at him and took one of his hands in mine.

"That's very considerate of you Silver. Besides your hands are so soft and warm, I think I prefer it that way." I said moving it to my cheek.

"Thank you Blaze, that's kind of you to say. But you should get dressed so we can eat, I'm starving." I agreed with him and went to go change. I decided to wear the outfit I wore to my job interview, but with a few changes. I let my fur down like Silver suggested last time and I took my gloves off as well. One reason for that was to make Silver less nervous about his and because I was planning on that ring to be on my hand at the end of the night. So I went back to the living room, but Silver was in the kitchen putting the ring in his vest pocket. I was about to tell him that I was done changing when the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it." I told Silver while I moved to the door. I looked through the peephole and saw what looked like police officers so I opened it. I was right because standing there were two officers, a short cyote man and a tall rabbit woman with metal legs. "Hello officers, can I help you?" I asked nicely.

"Ah yes, ees Silver the 'edgehog here tonight madamozlle?" The man said with a French accent.

"Yes he is, I'll go get him for you." I told them. So I walked to the kitchen right up to Silver. "Hey, there are some police officers who want to talk to you at the door Silver."

"Really? I wonder why."

Silver POV

I was a bit confused as to why the police wanted to talk to me, and me being nervous about proposing wasn't helping. At least it was two officers I knew sort of well.

"Evening Officer D'Coolette, Officer Rabbot. What can I do for you?" I asked the two of them.

"Well Shuga, we need ya to come down to the station with us." Officer Rabbot said with her trademark southern accent.

"For what reason?" I asked a bit wary.

"Well, as you may know, there has been a murder of one Rouge ze Bat. We would like you to come in for ze questioning of your knowledge." Officer D'Coolette answered. I wondered 'why ask me? I was at my birthday party that night.' when I thought of something.

"Am I under arrest?"

"Ya'll will be if you don't come quietly." Officer Rabbot said in a warning tone. That's when I knew this was serious.

"Okay, I'll come quietly." I told her. "Do you mind if Blaze comes along as well, she might have some insights that could help you out." Meaning she's part of my alibi for that night.

"But of course." Officer D'Coolette told us. So Blaze followed us down the stairs of the apartment. So much for dinner and proposing tonight. When we got to the car Blaze and I got in the back and that's when life decided to taunt me because I saw a nice looking ring on Officer Rabbot's hand.

"That's a nice ring." I commented to her.

"Ain't it though? My shuga 'Twan here gave it ta me when he proposed ta me last week." She said back. What did I do to deserve this life?

"Really? Well, I'm happy for you two." I told them, and I meant it. But after that we rode to the station quietly. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out how I would know anything about Rouge's murder that would make me a suspect. All I knew was what Miles told me about their relationship. I just chalked it up to the case being taken more seriously because Rouge was slightly famous and funded a G.U.N. squad. Anyway we got to the station around 6 PM.

"Just take a seet for a beet. We 'ave some paperwork to do before we question you." Officer D'Coolette said. He came back a few minutes later and we went to a room with a two way mirror. "So, Mr. 'edgehog, what do you know about ze case so far?"

"All I know is this, I had a modeling shoot with hwe about a week and a half ago, she hooked up with my friend Miles, and that she was murdered in her sleep."

"And you know theese how?"

"Miles called me this morning and told me about it."

"Fair enough. Now for ze most pressing question. Where were you last night at ze time of the murder?"

"I was celebrating my birthday at the bar my father works at last night. I got home with Blaze at about 1:30 in the morning, we were intimate for a while, and then we went to sleep."

"Can anyone prove that you were at the bar ze time you said?"

"Plenty of people can. My parents for one. And Blaze, Sonic, and Amy were there too. In fact you can probably ask my father for the security tapes for that night."

"We'll take a look at those facts then, just to be sure. I just have ze one last question for you. How do you explain these?" Officer D'Coolette asked putting a small bag on the table.

"I don't understand, what are those?" I asked.

"Zhey are spines that we got of ze crime scene. We ran ze DNA and it come back as yours."

"Well, I have no idea how those got there, honestly. Maybe somebody is trying to set me up?"

"After ze answers you've given me, I'm tempted to belive you about that. Just stay in town, wi?"

"I will." I answered and he let me leave. I went back and sat down next to Blaze as she waited to get questioned, which reminded me that I still had the engagement ring in my vest. But when I put my hand in my pocket it wasn't there.

"Are you looking for this?" Blaze asked showing me her hand which had the ring on it.

"B-But, how?" I said started to stutter.

"It fell out when you got up to get questioned. It's very pretty and it fits extremely well."

"Well it should, I got it for you." I said. Great, now I have to get another on to propose.

"Oh and Silver?" Blaze asked with a grin.

"Yeah Blaze?"

"Yes." Did she just say yes?

"Yes?" I asked confirming.

"Yes Silver, I love you. I love you more that anyone, like ever. I would happily spend the rest of my life with you." I exhaled loudly in relief.

"Well, it wasn't the proposal I was hoping for, but I guess this works." I said. "But I guess that's just how our relationship is."

"Hey, I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Me either Blaze, I love you too much to care how weird it is." And with that I kissed her, but in the back of my mind I knew something bad was about to happen.
