AN- Wow, I never thought telling you I plan to finish before September would get such a reaction, 10 reviews again! I wasn't awear you were all enjoying this so much. Looking at it now that time frame is probably a bit ambitious considering what I have planned.

There's two ways this story can go. I have an idea in mind it's just a case of checking it could actually happen and if I could actually write it. It's all a bit secretive I know, but it would be good if I could share it. it would also make this story quite a bit longer

Anyway, enjoy!

Disclaimer- I do not own Twilight.

Jasper POV

I heard Alice squeal from upstairs, I couldn't feel any fear from her so I assumed it was all in jest. There was a lot of giggling, and complaining on Alice's part "Come on, cut it out!" She whined. "Stop it." She squealed and there was a flash of colour as she was pushed into the room.

She stumbled slightly and I sat up ready to steady her if she needed it, but she managed to right herself. She smoothed down her clothes and it was only then that I realised what she was wearing or rather what it wasn't covering.

I'd never seen her in a dress before. It was dark blue, gathered in at her waist and the skirt stopped just above her knees... that was about all I knew about how to describe dresses. It was nice though... I'd never seen her legs bare before, there might not be much of them but...

"Hey, looks like soldier boy here's a legs man." Someone sang. I looked away quickly and tried to keep from projecting my embarrassment, and hoped Alice hadn't seen my blatant staring.

"Kate!" Esme scolded, holding back giggles "Out, now!" I screwed my eyes shut, they were all so hyper, even Esme had lost her mature manner. They all tittered and flitted out into the next room.

That left just me and Alice, they'd done it intentionally of course. I couldn't quite meet her eyes, I guessed this is how she had felt just a couple of weeks ago, when the roles were reversed. "Did you have fun?" I asked awkwardly.

She shrugged. "I think my ears just experienced a whole new octave" she muttered. I laughed quietly "What about you?" She asked a couple of seconds later. She'd definitely seen me staring, she wouldn't be acting this way if she hadn't.

I shrugged. "Just reading." I mumbled, before deciding to turn towards her, I should show a little respect at least. The way she was dressed wasn't the only difference. Her hair was flicked neatly around her face and eyes were finely lined in black, making her golden eyes even brighter. "You look...different" I murmured.

She looked down bashfully. "Good different" I reassured, and stuttered slightly when I realised how that sounded. "Not that you looked bad before!" I hurried.

There were a number of high pitched squeals from the next room and I covered my face with my arm. I'd been face to face with armies, generals and coven leaders, and never before had I felt nerves like this. Peter would have been in hysterics. I felt Alice sit down beside me and take my free hand.

She laughed quietly, probably able to feel my nerves, but I was reassured when I felt her own nerves pulsing though her. I leaned down and put my mouth right beside her ear. "You look beautiful" I said truthfully, only loud enough for her to hear.

She turned her head to look at me briefly in shock then ran a nervous hand though her hair and looked down again. I guessed this was a big step for her, going back to the way I assumed she used to dress, to make herself stand out rather than just blending in.

I touched her cheek lightly so I could tilt her head towards me again until finally she gave in and rested her head against my chest. She shuffled slightly and tucked her legs underneath her, snuggling closer to me.

I gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders and rested my chin lightly on her head, closing my eyes.

Esme's POV

I'd managed to keep most of the girls in the dining room while Alice was with Jasper, I figured that with all that nervous energy, having the sisters there wouldn't help her. The task grew a lot easier once the boys returned home and everyone began fussing about their partners instead. I was lucky that Carlisle was experienced enough to hunt without the mess, but still I quickly sent him to get changed into fresh clothes.

I'd hadn't expected Jasper and Alice to come and greet the others but decided that I was probably best to warn them of their arrival. I made my way quietly into the living room so as not to disturb them.

I stood in the doorway for a second to watch the pair. They almost appeared to be sleeping, curled up against one another, heads side by side and eyes closed. They looked peaceful, perfect together.

Rather than rouse them and cause embarrassment to both parts I simply started to potter around so that they could sense me in the room. They stirred slightly and untangled themselves.

Alice claimed they weren't a couple but I could see that they definitely weren't far from it.

She looked up at him and he looked down at her and their eyes never left the others. They looked confused almost, like they didn't quite understand one another. "I'm just going to speak to Edward" she said quickly. He nodded and she stood to leave.

Jasper must not have taken the time to take a good look at her dress. I tried not to laugh as he caught sight of the back which was a lace panel that spanned over her shoulder blades down to the curve of her spine. The dark navy a stark contrast to her porcelain skin. His eyes darkened slightly, hands twitching by his sides, before he pulled his eyes away and pushed his head back against the couch until she left.

As soon as she was out of sight he leaned forward again, resting his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands. "Are you alright sweetheart?" I asked gently.

He pushed a hand though his hair "She's just a bit too nervous, I can't... I don't know." He sighed.

"Are you confused about her or yourself?" I prodded "Because we're always here if you want to talk" I assured him.

He shifted uncomfortably "In all due respect ma'am, It wouldn't feel... proper. Explainin' to you the thoughts I'm havin' concernin' your daughter" he mumbled. I tried to hide my smirk as his accent became as strong as I'd ever heard it. He really was nervous.

"Carlisle then" I compromised, he tried to protest but I took his hand gently. I'd noticed he was a lot better with touch now, as long as he was expecting it. I was hoping this would help him understand if he felt my emotions more strongly "We want to help you, you're very precious to us Jasper, not just for what you've done for Alice but for you. You're just as much a part of this family as Alice or Edward or Emmett or Rose. Even if you don't view us as parental figures, we can be friends, myself and Carlisle will give you any time you need, I hope you know that."

He was quiet for a second, I guessed this was a very different experience for him, having others to talk to, people that really appreciated him. As I expected he changed the subject rather than answer my question "Do you think she only wants...that kind of relationship with me because that's what she saw all those years ago. Is it actually what she wants?"

"You doubt her feelings for you?" I questioned

He shook his head "Not really, I know what she feels, I know it's genuine. But what if she only feels that way because she thinks she has to?" He frowned, like he didn't quite understand what he was saying.

"Sweetheart, I think your over thinking things." I comforted him "I do think things are different, she doesn't see you the same way she used to but that doesn't mean that she feels any different." I tried to explain "I think that before she was in love with the idea of having a mate, a companion, a protector. Someone that was to her the same way Carlisle is to me or Emmett to Rosalie. Those visions of you represented that to her.

Now, especially since you both came back, I can see that, yes you still represent that to her but she loves you for you, and not just the protection and the companionship you provide, it's because you make her smile because she can talk with you and she feels comfortable. People are hesitating to call you a couple, but the way I see it you're already mates. It's just that the emotional side of your relationship has developed quicker than the physical side, and that's not necessarily a bad thing."

He went quiet again for a moment before laughing lightly "What?" I asked.

"I don't know" he said quietly "You just explained in seconds something that has been confusin' me for weeks" he admitted.

I laughed "I'm a mother, that's my job...besides" I added "I had a similar conversation with Alice a few hours ago"

Jasper's POV

I watched Alice from the opposite side of the room, she was helping Esme with some food based task, decorating what looked like cakes with their supplies arranged neatly on the dining room table. They chatted happily about what sounded like our time away.

There was a giant poker game in play in the middle of the room, most of the family had cleared the floor and set it up on the carpet. They laughed and teased Edward mercilessly, Bella had blocked his ability, much to his disgruntle. I'd been asked to join but I'd turned it down, I wasn't quite comfortable in such a large group. Besides I would win with my gift anyway, I knew when they were lying.

I guess I would appear lonely or bored but I was quite happy just to sit back and enjoy the emotions that were filling the room.

Edward stood briefly and walked over to a black box, pressed a few buttons and music started to sound from various speakers around the room. He skipped though a few tracks, some of which were what Alice and I danced to over the past few weeks before finally settling on a song and sitting back down to continue the game.

This song wasn't as good as the songs Alice and I danced to, I couldn't figure out why he'd skipped past them until I remembered something Alice had told me. 'Edward told me it was terrible.' It seemed the mind reader had a different taste in music. It wasn't bad, but I still preferred the ones he'd skipped through.

I turned back to Alice, flicking her emotions back and forth ever so slightly to get her attention. She stopped what she was doing for a second, frowning a little before she caught on and looked up, her eyebrows furrowing.

I looked over to the black box and back at her slowly, sending her some distaste to give her a clue. She followed my gaze, confused for a second until she figured out what I meant. She smirked, looking back at me and shaking her head before she continued her work.

I looked over to the black box that controlled the music, I could've change it myself, but I wasn't entirely sure how the machine worked. I turned back to Alice, messing with her emotions again, winding her up. She sighed and I could feel her annoyance start to show, but still she didn't give me the satisfaction of looking up. I smirked, she didn't have it in her to get angry at me

I stepped it up slightly and she pursed her lips and glared at the table. Her hands slipped as she worked, thoroughly distracted.

I stood and walked over to her crouching down so I could rest my chin on her shoulder and pretend to admire her work, really it just made messing with her emotions that much easier.

She scowled at me and growled under her breath "Will you quit it?!" She hissed, snapping her teeth at me. I sniggered, but then looked over at the others who were all watching us closely. I moved my head away from her and stood up. Perhaps teasing her around so many people wasn't a good idea.

It worried my slightly when Alice became mischievous and grabbed my arm pulling me towards the black box "If your going to annoy me until I change the music, at least have the courtesy to dance with me when I do." She said pointedly while she pressed the buttons. One of the songs from before began to play and Alice pulled me into the middle of the room. Every set of eyes on us. Yeah, Alice was not easily beaten

"Alice no" I whined, and tried to pull away from her but she wouldn't let me. She twirled and swayed, my hand wrapped in her iron grip until I decided it was probably be best just to cooperate. Note to self, do not annoy Alice.

I let her pull me around the makeshift dance floor, my punishment for messing with her, until I managed to forget the on lookers and dance with her properly, spinning her and adding in a few of the simple lifts we'd practiced. That was when, once again, I realised she wasn't wearing what she'd usually wear, and all that was separating my hand and the smooth expanse of her back was a thin layer of dark blue lace. There was simply no where else to put my hand, any lower would too low.

There was an eruption of clapping and cheering, both Alice and I looked down in embarrassment and she caught my eye shyly, standing on her tip toes to whisper in my ear "Revenge is sweet"

I had to agree.

Alice POV

I could have sworn Tanya had some sort of death wish. Why was it that she always had to show an interest in other peoples mates. I thought the message had gotten through after the countless times Edward had turned her down, but apparently not, she was quite content to go after my Jasper.

Trying to chat with him and brushing her hand against his arm which I could feel he was uncomfortable with since every time she did it I saw him stiffen and felt his discomfort as if it were my own. He continued to chat with her because that was the kind of southern gentleman he was, but he was still wary of her. You had to gain his trust, not just plant yourself inches away and run your perfectly polished nails all over him.

I took a deep breath. Every part of me screamed to push her away from him and give her a piece of my mind. Jasper was mine! But that was the thing, I didn't want to control him the way Maria did, he was his own person, he could talk to whoever he wanted to.

I walked over to the kitchen where Esme was talking with Jacob. Jasper could look after himself, he'd excuse himself if he was uncomfortable for much longer.

"You need to save some for the pack" Esme batted Jacobs hands playfully as he reached for one of the cakes we'd decorated earlier. She continued to stack them neatly into containers one by one.

"You know, they'll be gone before I can walk through the door, Paul and Quil will take more than their share, they love your cooking more than their own mothers. I'm simply taking my share now." He explained

She laughed lightly "You're over here a lot more than they are"

"One of my many reasons to brag, unlimited Esme cooking!" She rolled her eyes and threw one of the cakes for him to catch. He took a bite from it "Mmm, I seriously don't understand how someone who hasn't eaten in... How long?"

"86 years" she smirked "it's rude to ask a women her age" she scolded.

"Exactly, how can you still cook like this." She shook her head at him "Don't worry Esme, you don't look a day over 80" He added and I couldn't help the laughter that bubbled over.

Esme gaped at him trying to put on an expression of mock horror "Out of my kitchen! No more Esme cooking for you!" He laughed but didn't move from his position perched on the counter top.

Jasper came in then, looking positively irritated. He took my hand and I rubbed his knuckles soothingly, I was secretly thrilled that he come back to me. "Why'd you leave" he said quietly while Jacob and Esme continued to bicker as she shooed him out of the door.

I remained quiet, unwilling to let him know just how frustrating watching her touch him was. Of course, he could already feel it. "They're just tryin' to wind you up y'know"

I turned my head against his chest "It's working." I muttered, and he laughed quietly "I don't like watching her touch you, it sets me on edge." I admitted, pressing my palms against his chest,

He curled his fingers around my hands "Possessive much." He smirked and I grimaced, reducing the pressure. "There's nothin' to worry about."

I shrugged "She's much prettier than me"

He rolled his eyes "Where'd you get a ridiculous idea like that?" He accused, turning me to face him.

"Us women are petty like that" I explained, scoffing lightly

He leaned in and nuzzled the side of my face gently "You should know, I only have eyes for you." He said lowly. I shivered delicately against him, I didn't quite know how to feel about that.

Tanya came in then, probably in search of Jasper. He spun me around and gripped my hips, pulling me backwards against his chest. My breath caught in my throat as his fingers splayed across my hipbones and abdomen.

Tanya looked us both up and down her eyes lingering at his hands on my hips. "You found her then?" she smirked.

"Yes" Jasper said calmly from behind me "You just needed some air, didn't you Alice?"

Air? I was positively breathless, I was far too distracted by the pressure of his hands on me. I was burning up, he'd never touched me this... Intimately before. It was a possessive hold, the way I'd seen Edward, Emmett and even Carlisle hold their mates whenever an unmated vampire was around. I'm not entirely sure what made me do it, but I laced my fingers with his on my hips...What was the question again?

"Yeah" I said breathlessly.

She smirked at us again, picking up a dish cloth. "Renesmee spilt her juice" was all she said before sauntering out again.

There were a few seconds where neither of us seemed to be able to let go of each other. I finally managed to find my voice "What's this for?" I squeezed his fingers around my hips slightly.

"Umm, I figured it would keep Tanya off both our backs. Sorry." He mumbled.

I felt his hands pull against my own but I held them still "There's nothing to apologise for" I said quietly. I felt a bubble of giddy laughter threaten to spill passed my lips but managed to suppress it. I wiggled my hips "Possessive much" I teased, trying to ease the tension. I turned around to face him wrapping my arms gently around the back of his neck so as not to unnerve him. "There's nothing wrong with that" I smirked.

"Alice" he laughed nervously, hands still planted securely on my hips. I thought that would be my main focus, but the distance between his lips and my own was all I could seem to think about. I had no idea how this causal flirting between us had started but I couldn't exactly say it bothered me. He leaned in slightly closer, seeming to test my reaction.

I couldn't find the muscles I needed to respond, only watch him, slightly apprehensive...

"Just getting some more ju- Oh!"

"Renesmee!" We both spluttered simultaneously, pulling away from each other. She stared at the two of us, looking between us questioningly.

"We were just talking" I stuttered.

She shook her head "Talking?" She smirked "Auntie Alice, I know what kissing looks like" I gaped at her, I hadn't realised just how much my niece had grown up while I was away. She giggled and snatched a juice carton from the refrigerator and skipped out.

AN- I know you probably hate me after that last bit, but please just let them take there own sweet time. I've said before, their first kiss has already been written but there's still a few things that need to happen first. The flirting however will only increase.

So, only one and a half days of school left and a four hour car journey and boring hotel on Friday. All the more time to write for you guys!
