Freeze slapped Acco's left hand against the biometric scanner and waited for three seconds as the door was unlocked and Freeze had free reign. He grunted as Freeze threw his hand back and made the guard stand against the left corner.
"Wouldn't it have been easier just to kill me? Cut off my hand or something?" Acco asked as Adam aimed a pistol at his face.
"The scanners also read your capillary levels. If I cut off your hand, the blood flow wouldn't allow the system to read the handprint. I guess some geniuses tried to try that and security companies updated the technology. Good thing." Freeze said with emotion as he walked into the cryo room.
Acco was shocked at the lack of human emotion in Freeze's voice and watched as he was only set on his goal. Freeze used his new device that controlled his ice powers and aimed it at the metal slab in front of him. The door guarded the secret projects room, including Perry's design prototypes for the ice weapons. He fired the ice blast at the door and waited a moment, hearing the ice cracking and forming around the metal frame. Freeze took a second to find a weak spot and kicked the doorknob as hard as he could, the metal frame breaking off with the knob. The door flew open and was hanging by two hinges when the doctor entered. He punched the light switch on and switched to thermal vision.
The section with no thermal activity will be where the prototypes are. They are probably with the military equipment. Freeze thought to himself as two more of his crew entered the room and began searching every cabinet, every box, and every shelf fused to the walls. He looked around and was disgusted at the weapons and materials in front of him and it made him wonder. How many other people had Perry used and then thrown away like nothing? How many lives had been changed and ruined because of his own greed? Where did it all end?
"Search every inch! I need the designs!" Freeze yelled.
His crew continued to overturn every box and crate, struggling against the time to find their objective. Freeze kept scanning every crate, nearly running down the long halls as he smashed boxes not containing his prize. He kicked a large crate that nearly weighed a ton across the room, smashing into the wall and shattering two other crates. And then, with a loud bang, he found what he was looking for. He smiled with accomplishment and ran over, tossing the box pieces aside and picking up the cool unit containing the reactor. It was attached to the wall with three thick cords and he yanked them out, watching the blue light fade away. One of the crew members saw him hold it up to the light, his eyes bulging past the red goggles.
"Is that it?" he asked.
"Yes. This and the four crates behind it. Don't leave a single thing behind." Freeze said coldly.
"Yes, sir." the crewmate said, running past him and heaving the heavy crate with another man.
Freeze kept carrying the device in his hand. It was a long circular tube encasing a blue liquid, the same that ran through the veins of his suit. He needed more energy. He had learned that the more energy he had in his possession, the better he could control his new abilities. Perry had mass-produced the liquid, officially called CK-21, spending millions on creating and perfecting the cooling liquid. Based on his observations, Freeze guessed that Perry had planned on selling the liquid to the buyers of the weapons. He didn't care; businessman or gang member, Perry would cheat anyone. Freeze kept walking down the hallway, seeing boxes stamped with Perry's 'seal of approval'. A large red mark of the Wayne Enterprises logo was emblazoned on some crates and the doctor knew they were boxes reserved for the board supervisor himself. Everything here was made by and used for the company. There was no reason to stamp a crate full of self-made products.
"What are you hiding?" he said softly, tearing open the box with the help of the extra strength the cryo suit gave him.
He looked inside and saw a box full of grenades. He picked one up and inspected it, the thermal scanner still on. He frowned when he saw that it was filled with the same cryo liquid as everything else. He gathered up a few and looked around, seeing boxes upon boxes of the 'Perry-approved' crates. He was furious with anger, punching the top of the grenade he was holding and launched it deep into the dark hallway. It bounced off the left wall and landed almost right in the middle. Seconds later, a loud sound wave soared through the small enclosed space and frost blasted everything in a twenty-foot radius.
The men inside backed up in surprise and watched as Freeze enjoyed the destruction of the weapons. He tossed two more down the hallways and walked back to the door, not looking back as giant ice sheets and pieces shattered and splinter everything in their path. He kept two of the grenades and held them tightly in his left hand while leading the men out of the room. Acco looked at him with fear and was powerless as Freeze kicked him into the stone wall behind him, knocking him out. Freeze no longer felt anything. All of his emotion was gone. All compassion. All regret. It ended with Nora's death. Victor Fries was gone. All that remained was the weapon Perry had dreamed about. A real weapon that would be the end of him. Freeze would not stop until he had found Perry, stab him in the heart, and make realize that he had made a mistake.
