Hi! Interesting chapter for you loyal readers. ;)
Revised and updated because I wasn't quite happy with it. ;)
ENJOY!
My hand rested gently on my torso as I gazed up at the crossing beams, my eyes following each wooden line until it crossed with another.
It was only early - barely four o'clock in the morning, but my mind was already alert. Ty slept beside me, his breathing drawn out and his arm draped tenderly over my abdomen. His neck was arched, his chin tucked snugly into his chest.
My cheeks lifted softly as my eyes fell to his sleeping form, my fingertips tracing his distinct jaw line as he drew in each breath. His hooded eyes hovered lightly above his cheeks, his lips puckered with sleep. My heart warmed as I watched him, the tingling sensation spreading through my fingertips and down to my toes.
I touched his forehead gently, following the arc of his hairline, my eyes flitting to meet his as he stirred, his own hand lifting to enclose mine. His eyes fluttered, his forehead creasing as he yawned. I smiled faintly as I squeezed his hand gently.
"Morning," I said softly, my head falling to his shoulder as his arms snaked lovingly around my waist, drawing me closer as he pressed a gentle kiss to my hair.
He chuckled, tucking my head snugly into his chest, his chin resting upon my knotted bed head. "It's barely dawn," his lips curved against my hair as he spoke, his tone laced with fond amusement.
I shrugged absent-mindedly in his arms, cocooned in his delicate warmth, "You and your technicalities."
"Oh," he laughed shortly, his hands sliding back from my spine to my sides, his fingers teasing as I squirmed in anticipation. "I think," his fingers flitted over my skin mischievously, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "I think you're... Ah, little confused."
I swallowed, pursing my lips together tightly. "No," I said firmly, angry with my voice as it rose an octave or two. "I am not-"
"Yep," he smirked, smug. "Definitely confused," he raised his eyebrows mischievously, "Miss Pedantic."
"Ah," I squirmed a little, trying desperately to move from his hovering fingertips. He only held me tighter, his lips pressed together with mirth. "But you're Mr Pedantic."
He grinned, his eyes glinting, dancing with amusement. "Then maybe we're married," he shot back, his brow lifting smugly.
I flushed slightly, scouring my brain for a witty comeback. "Or maybe we're just brother and sister."
He pulled a face, laughing softly. "For some reason, I don't quite think that would work."
"Huh?" I cocked my head teasingly, "Why not? We get on just fine."
"Yeah," he rolled his eyes, "but..." His lips hovered above my skin, his hands hot on my waist. "I wouldn't be able to do this." His breath tickled as he held me flush against him, his lips curling against my skin.
"Yeah," I breathed, struggling to regain control. "... Suppose not."
He chuckled, a warm, loving sound eliciting from his perfect lips. It was calm for a moment as he held me tightly within his arms, like I was something special.
I loved that. I had always yearned for that sense of comfort, and that beautiful feeling of home. That was Ty to me: my perfect, loving, home.
He suddenly drew back, shifting himself so that he was resting on his elbows. He smiled knowingly at me, "Wanna watch the sunrise?"
My face broke into a smile, "There's nothing I'd like better."
He smirked as he rose to his feet, pulling me up with him, "Oh, yeah?" That guy was way too confident for his own good.
I rolled my eyes as swayed slightly on my feet, waiting impatiently for the blood to reach them before pulling the hoodie he offered me over my head. He reached over for his own as I fumbled around with the opening. He chuckled amusedly, tugging the material down over my head. "Thanks," I blushed.
He shrugged, noncommittal, grasping my hand and shoving his other in his pocket. "Come on," he smirked, pulling me towards the opening flap of the teepee. "We'll miss it."
My bare feet sunk in the dewy grass, my toes curling as the cold sensation spread through my feet. My right hand hummed as Ty drew circles on my skin with his thumb. A blanket hung over his shoulder, his smile content as we ambled down the sloping landscape.
Auburn leaves crinkled and crunched beneath our feet, the sound as crisp as the leaf itself. The countryside in its entirety lay at our feet, masked in the dreamy haze of dawn. The sun peaked through the trees and a mist rolled across the autumn scene. It was truly beautiful, something I'd missed - that sense of new beginnings. I could feel it now, washing over me like the calm serenity of the hills.
The ground was adorned with heather, the lavender hue fitting within the landscape. I gazed out quietly at the horizon, a soft smile playing on my lips as Ty spread the blanket over a small patch of clear ground. I fell to the floor beside him, pulling my sleeves snugly over my hands, giggling childishlyas my breath billowed in the chilly air.
Ty smiled fondly, watching me quietly for a moment before he reached out his hands. "Here," he spoke softly, taking my cold hands and encasing them within his own. My body rested contentedly against his side, the sound of the birds floating around me as I gazed out at the rays of pink and gold stretching across the sky.
"Would you like that?" his voice was quiet beside me, his tone calm as he looked up from tracing circles on my palm.
Light shone past his shoulder, glistening in his warm emerald eyes. My brow knitted together slightly, taking in his hesitant expression. "Like what?"
"To be Mrs Pedantic?" his tone was steady, but his eyes bore a nervousness I couldn't quite place.
His hands were still, with the exception of his thumb, which rubbed gently over my skin - just like it always did when he was thinking. My brow furrowed as I took in his expression, my eyes in search of a reason. We were quiet for a long moment, the silence strangely comfortable despite his words.
As the sun appeared above the horizon, rather fittingly, it dawned on me.
"I'd love it," I replied honestly, my lips lifted with happiness and the absolute truth.
His eyes almost sparkled as he rose to his feet, pulling me up, holding my hands flush to his chest. His heart was thudding against them, racing in time with the rising sun. I smiled up into his eyes, and swayed slightly at the warmth I found within them.
"When I was six," he drew in a deep breath, his eyes falling briefly on the rising sun. "I had this dream," his face contorted fondly at the memory,"that I would marry this girl."
His eyes returned to me, his face tipped slightly to the side as he looked at me. My cheeks were glowing red, and I swallowed thickly as I took him in.
"She was the kindest, most beautiful, caring girl," he paused for moment, laughing to himself before he said: "and she had this almost obsessive love of cats." I snorted rather un-attractively, blushing as he smiled affectionately down at me.
"I woke up the next morning determined to find this girl of my dreams." He shook his head, his eyes darting to the horizon behind me. "And then, seventeen years later, I found you."
His eyes focused on me, a kind smile dancing on his lips. "And I realised I was wrong all along." Cheeks tinged with pink, I watched as his eyes settled on our entwined hands. "Because the girl I fell in love with," he inhaled deeply and squeezed my hands tightly within in his own, smiling faintly to himself as he met my eyes, "was beyond my wildest imagination, and I-" he laughed quietly, "couldn't, possibly, ever, dream up somebody like you."
My eyes fell closed, a futile attempt to quell the tears pooling in the corners. I swallowed thickly, fighting against the lump nestled within my throat.
Ty's forefinger tipped my chin gently, his thumb stroking my jaw line ever so softly. My eyes fluttered open at the sensation, a single tear - a happy tear, sliding down the arc of my cheek. He caught it - just like he always did - his lips curling into a loving smile as he watched me. He swallowed slowly, his eyes swirling with honest emotion, and I watched, my heart exploding in my chest, as he fell slowly to his knees, his eyes never once leaving mine. His grasp on my left hand never waned as his other reached steadily into his pocket. My eyes glistened with tears, and Ty's - they were dancing and swirling with the warmth of dawn.
"And that's why," he said softly after a moment, his fingers prising open the delicate box. "Right here, right now... I have a dream," he took a deep breath, holding my eyes, "to marry you."
Tears were cascading down my face now, disbelief tumbling from my lips. He held the small box, the silver ring glistening in the morning light. "So will you?" he finished, his voice hopeful, "Marry me?"
My cheeks were aching with happiness, my head nodding before he'd even finished. "I love you!" I cried emotionally, throwing my arms around his neck, crushing him to me with all my might.
He laughed in amusement, his arms almost hesitant to tighten around me, "Is that a yes?"
I drew back and rolled my eyes, laughing through my tears, "Of course it's a yes!"
His smile only grew as he spun me around, a gorgeous warm chuckle tumbling from his warm lips. He kissed me passionately, all his love and all his warmth portrayed in a single kiss.
He grinned, "I love you," he said, his eyes moist with tears.
"I love you more."
I could not stop smiling. My heart was fit to bursting with happiness. I had never been more content, more excited for the future.
There were so many reasons why that feeling deep within me should be ignored - but I couldn't - as hard as I tried, I couldn't block out that persistent feeling that in a single horrible moment, everything I knew, and everything I loved, it was all going to come crashing down.
I guess the odds are just never in my favor, are they?
Are we happy? Let me know. ;) I think I've made up for the lacking of this perfect couple. Anyone up to date with the show, I feel your pain. :(
Hope you enjoyed it, I'm pretty proud of Ty's proposal. ;)
While you're waiting for the next chapter, be sure to check out the trailer for this story, and my brand new Amy and Ty video which I'm pretty chuffed with. ;) (Both links are on my profile.)
Until next time... Let's say I'll update at 430? The more the better. Sound fair? ;)
Whoa, it's late here. Who else writes so much more at night? Huh, maybe it's just me. I am a bit of a night owl.
:)
Thank you for reading and (fingers crossed) reviewing?
