OC's thoughts
Hogwarts turned out to be just as unbearable as I thought it would be. People from every house would stare in what they thought was a discreet fashion, but in all honestly I could practically feel their eyes burning into my back.
The new first years looked at me like I was some sort of goddess, while second and third years came up to shake my hand and tell me how amazing I was, and how they read all about what happened in the Daily Prophet.
What bothered me the most were the fourth years and up always approaching me to flirt or ask me out. Some did it discreetly while others were a lot more obvious about it. There were even a couple Slytherins, with more neutral backgrounds, who came to talk to me.
Those were the people who irritated us the most. Us being me, Lily, James, Remus, and Sirius. Mostly just Sirius and I. The amount of people who would stop me in the hallway got so excessive I was forced to take secret passages, and since they were all my friends people would stop them sometimes to ask about me.
The only person outside of our group that I could rely on was Snape. He acted exactly the same as he would if I were anyone else–which technically wasn't a good thing considering he had a sharp sense of sarcasm, but his insults were much more welcoming than constant praise.
He also seemed to be protecting me in his own special way. Whenever someone came up to our desk before or after class he would scare them away with a poisonous look. Of course if he was anywhere else in the room he wouldn't do that, but luckily for me we sat at the same desk.
Thankfully Hogwarts classes let you choose where you want to sit, and I made sure to claim the seat next to either Sirius or Lily. Although in Herbology I had to sit next to Peter since I wasn't close with anyone else in that class.
I was only taking Herbology because it was a required class if I wanted to become a healer.
Last year I had no clue what I wanted to become, and it worried me because I knew I was running out of time to decide. My decision had been made during the end of summer when I was staying at Potter Manor. My memories about my near death because of a cut made me realize if I just knew a couple of healing spells then i might not have been in so much danger.
That thought soon developed into the he drive to learn any healing spell I could, and the only way I could think to go about it was to ask Madam Pomfrey to teach me what she knew. She asked me if I wanted to become a healer, and it took me by surprise, but after some thought I didn't see why not. So on top of my regular classes I had to spend time with Pomfrey in the hospital wing, and learn about the human body, what spells are used for what injuries, and several other things.
I was currently searching through the Room of Requirement. It isn't often that I get time away from my fans and an overprotective boyfriend, but I was able to slip away when nobody was paying attention.
My thoughts were centered on a certain diadem that once belonged to Rowena Ravenclaw. It's been constantly on my mind since the moment I walked into Hogwarts, and now I was finally given the opportunity to try and find it.
More than once I contemplated bringing Lily or Sirius to the Room and have them help me. I've only gone after one horcrux, and I almost died. It hadn't even been the horcrux's fault! I only had my stupidity to blame. I've wondered what would have happened if I'd brought Sirius with me to get the locket. He had an apparition license, and he could have safely gotten us out of the cave.
I only hesitated because I was worried they would end up getting hurt just like I did, but then I wanted to berate myself for being so overprotective. They are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, and they were the same age as I was so they had just as much of a right to do this as I did.
Looking at the beautiful tiara sitting innocently in my hands I pursed my lips in thought. If I told the others then I would have a lot more help collecting the other horcrux's. But as it is I've already found the locket, and now Ravenclaw's diadem so I only needed the diary, the ring, and the cup.
Hopefully with the diary I could just call Dobby and have him bring it to me. But first I had to find out if he's even been born yet, and then I'll know if the Malfoy's were ever given the horcrux for safe keeping. Hopefully I could get the cup either by buying it off of the goblins or they'll hate horcrux's enough to turn it over to me. The ring was probably something I would need major help on. There will no doubt be very strong wards surrounding the shack for protection, and if there was some compulsion charm placed on it that makes me want to put it on then I'll get that weird curse Dumbledore got that'll end up killing me. As for the snake…I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Placing the diadem in my bag I pressed my hands against my face and sighed. It was indecisive moments like these that I desperately wished for some sort of relaxing time. This year more than ever. Two years ago I would be sitting in the library watching some anime on the computers, or Harry Potter.
I would kill for a Batman movie.
Dragging my hands down my face I looked around to see a completely different room. There were no longer dozens of junk piles stacked up to the ceiling, and it wasn't even my usual room with the bookshelf on one end and the fireplace on the other. No, this room was entirely black.
The walls were black with white moulding, and the floor was a black tile you'd usually see in a school cafeteria. On the left side of the room there was a black sofa facing a large flatscreen TV, and pressed up against the wall behind it was a small bar area with bottles of different alcohols. But the best part of the entire room were the four cars proudly displayed on the left side of the room.
There was a black Chevy Silverado, followed by a silver Lamborghini with a black Mustang right next to that, and a silver Audi R8. The former may not have been the sleekest of the cars, but it was definitely a welcome sight.
Just seeing the four cars had me drooling, and I placed a hand on the hood of each one to make sure this wasn't a dream.
It wasn't.
I spent a good ten minutes dancing around the room, touching everything as I went. I hugged the TV, the bar, and I dragged my hand over every inch of each car. The beautiful leather interiors were to die for, and I'm pretty sure I took a quick nap in the back of the Chevy.
After that wonderful nap I stood in front of the TV with my hands on my hips. Here I've been given this beautiful piece of technology, that won't be invented for another couple decades, and I can't watch any movies. There's no remote, no DVDs, and no DVD player.
"Just turn on would ya! I wanna watch Batman!"
Like magic the TV screen suddenly flickered on, and I was suddenly watching the beginning of The Dark Knight. One of my all time favorite movies ever. If I could go into another fictional movie it would definitely be this one because let me tell you, The Joker is one hot fuck.
"Mm," I took a sip of the alcohol I'd gotten from the small bar while watching the scene where Joker smooths back his hair as he approached Rachel, "I'd tap that."
The door to the Room suddenly burst open to reveal an irate red head. The noise had been so loud that I fell off of the couch with a strangled yelp.
"I cannot believe him!" Lily shouted. "The nerve! Thinking it's alright to walk in on me saying he 'needed something. Ugh!" She threw her arms up into the air and paced a hole into the floor.
My irritation from being scared to the floor was alleviated when I saw the movie had been put on pause. That meant I wasn't going to miss anything. "What's wrong now Tigger?"
Lily spun around in surprise, and her eyes widened when they landed on me, "Danielle? What are you doing here?"
I gave her a confused look, "What do you mean what am I doing here? I always come in here, now more so than ever. I'm trying to ask you what you're doing here."
She opened her mouth to explain why she was so upset when she finally realized the room we were in was not our usual one. The only things she could comprehend were the couch and the bar, while the TV and the cars were completely alien to her. All she could muster was a strangled, "What?"
"Oh, um," I scratched the back of my head, "Well you know I'm from the future, and these are some of the things I'm used to." I pointed to the TV, "Like the TV," then the cars, "and the cars."
Lily slowly walked towards the nearest car (Audi R8), and hesitantly placed her hand in top of the hood. Similar to what I'd done few hour previous, "This…is a car?" Her reaction made me realize how glaringly different our technology is.
"Yeah," her reaction amused me, and I knew I needed to take her for a drive at some point. I could always use the excuse that I need to get driving experience so I could get my license.
I suddenly felt something materialize in my hand, and when I looked down I saw four keys attached to a single ring. I looked from the keys to the cars and smirked heavily, This is gonna be wicked.
No matter how much I wanted to drive those cars I needed to finish watching my movie while finding out what was wrong with my friend, "So what's up Tigg?"
Lily cautiously sat down next to me while examining the flat screen TV playing a show that she'd never seen before. "What is this?" She winced when the creepy clown looking character threw a woman out a window.
"This is The Dark Knight. It's a movie from my time."
She nodded in understanding, but soon grew confused, "How is it all working? The magic in Hogwarts would have dismantled it or something."
The question was a good one, and it was my turn to be confused, "I honestly don't know. Maybe when the Room made them it did something to allow them to work?" Either way I was extremely happy the a Room was able to do it, whatever it did.
"Alright," Lily seemed to accept that answer, and kept half of her attention on the new technology (for her) while explaining to me what was bothering her, "Since a Potter and I are Heads we have to share the Head Dorms. He takes every chance he has to throw out so,e suggestive term, or peek into my room to try and see me dressing, and today while I was taking a shower he walked in to 'grab something'. I was lucky the steam was thick enough to cover up the glass if the door or else he would have seen me naked!"
I felt my own anger set in for my friend. Potter is an absolute idiot. He says he loves Lily so much, and yet he goes around doing these perverted acts as if it's okay! "Have you done anything about it?"
"No," Lily groused, "I wasn't sure what I should, or could, do. So I thought I'd come to you first and ask for advice. Thankfully you were in here and I didn't have to find you. According it a frantic Sirius you're nowhere to be found." She raised an eyebrow at me.
I gave one right back, "He should know I'm here. I may not have told him, but it's obvious enough."
She shrugged, "True enough." We settled back against the couch, and I offered Lily a drink–to which she politely declined.
"So what are we gonna do about James?" I asked her. Smiling slightly when the camera showed an image of the Joker. I had a real obsession over him that probably wasn't healthy.
Lily growled, "I don't know, but he definitely needs to learn his lesson."
"You wanna scare him? I thought about humiliating him in the Great Hall during one of our meal times, but afterwards I'm pretty sure I'd feel guilty."
Lily eventually gave in, and it was decided that we wouldn't humiliate the stupid boy, but we would definitely scare the shit out of him.
"You know," my eyes lit up mischievously, "the Jesters need to make an appearance this year."
She turned to me with a devious smile, "You're absolutely right Balto. We better do something pretty big. You know, to give the year a good start."
We were soon bent over a sheet of parchment tossing out ideas over what we could do, what we shouldn't, and what we wouldn't. Each one getting more and more elaborate than the next until we finally–finally!–found the perfect idea.
AN: Not the longest or most action filled chapter, but I needed to get the year going.
