A/N: Alright, as promised here's the next chapter. Please, enjoy!

The sound of the news report on the television echoed into the bathroom while Chloe curled her hair. She sighed at her reflection, listening to a sad report on a house fire. She had started listening to the news more often in hopes to catch any new information on June's whereabouts, but to no luck they were still stuck at square one.

Chloe sniffled keeping back the tears while she tied the black ribbon to her hair. Today was Rae's funeral, and a week since the incident. The school still had her locker decorated, but the rest of the school had seemed to already gotten over it. Everyone looked at Chloe and the Bae's differently too. Some rumors had spread about them being in on Rae's death, and that they were the ones hiding June.

Flattening her black dress against her she walked into the room and turned the television off. She grabbed her coat and walked over to Derek's room. His door was open and she looked in to see that he was on the phone speaking in Korean. He looked over at her and quickly said something into the phone and then pressing it against his chest.

"I'll just be a minute, try to eat something before we go." He said. She nodded and turned to go downstairs.

Walking towards the dining room the door to Kit's office flew open and a raging Simon stepped out.

"…so goddamned close minded! Blow that out your ass!" He shouted and stormed off not even noticing Chloe standing there, and headed out the house, slamming the door as he went. Chloe flinched at the sound and stared at the door wondering what had happened.

"Chloe," Kit called out from behind her. She turned around to see him standing at his office door looking a bit flustered. "May I have a word?" he asked.

Not seeing that she had a choice, she bowed her head and made her way into his office. Kit closed the door behind her and gestured for her to sit down in the chair in front of his desk. A bit worried about what he wanted to talk about, she sat down cautiously watching him as he walked around his desk and sat down.

"I apologize for causing a scene." Kit started off.

"That's o-okay." She responded, her hands going clammy within the fold of her coat.

"I don't mean to upset him; I'm just trying to do what's best for him." He explains.

"You're his dad, no one can b-blame you for looking o-out for your kids." Kit smiles at Chloe's reply.

"Thank you," he stared at her for a few seconds not expecting that to come from her. "Anyway, that's not why I called you in here." He cleared his throat getting to business. Chloe kept quiet waiting for him to explain.

"I know that it must be hard going through all this with June, seeing as you two were close," Kit put his hands together on top of his desk. "Dealing with that, the pressure of planning a wedding and especially adapting to Triad life, it's overwhelming I know. I just want to make sure that you're doing okay."

Chloe was a bit taken aback by this. Kit was actually asking about her wellbeing? Or was this some sort of test? She wasn't sure, but she remembered what Tori had taught her about keeping her true feeling hidden and never showing her flaws around the people she didn't trust. Although Kit had not harmed her, she still didn't know if she could trust him.

"I'm doing fine, thank you." Chloe answered. Kit stared at her wondering if her words where true.

"I don't want you to think I'm your enemy, I want anything but that." He says, and sighs rubbing his chin. "I was forced into an unwanted marriage too, and I know the pressure you're under." He added.

Chloe fidgeted in her seat not sure if she wanted to go into this subject. She knew about Kit's arranged marriage with Diane, and his love affair with Sophia. Sure, she didn't know all the details, but she knew enough. She wasn't sure if she wanted to know those details either.

"If you have any troubles, feel free to come to me about them, okay?" he offered and Chloe just nodded not wanting this conversation to go on any longer.

"Okay then, I'll let you go, I'm sure Derek is wondering where you are." Kit said. With a final nod Chloe stood up and bowed, as she was taught, and left the office closing the door behind her.

Just as she was leaving, Derek came down the hall meeting her at the door. He looked at her curiously and then at the door to his father's office. Chloe figured he would ask what she was doing in there, and started to explain, but Derek cut her off.

"You ready to go?" he asked. Chloe looked up at him, wondering if he was dodging the subject.

"Uh, yeah. Let's go." She answered. He nodded and took her hand leading her out the door.

She guessed Derek felt that he didn't need to know what she was doing.

Chloe rode in the back with Tori while Simon sat up front with Derek. They rode in silence, both Tori and Simon busy on their phones. Chloe stared out her window bracing herself for the event they were about to enter.

Cars were packed in the church's parking lot, even down the side of the road. They were surprised to find so many people here today. Then Simon pointed out the news vans that were parked in the front and they all knew why it was such a turn out.

Derek found a parking space fairly close to the front of the church near one of the news vans. They clambered out of the car, Tori using her phone to make sure she looked good. Chloe walked up to Derek, wrapping her arm around his and looking around at the crowd of people.

"I don't even recognize anyone." She said to him. Derek nodded scanning the area.

"People are just looking for their 15 minutes of fame." Simon muttered stuffing his phone in his pocket.

"Come on, let's head inside." Tori said, leading the group inside the church.

Chloe held onto Derek as they entered where they found a few kids from school they recognized. People watched them as they came in whispering amongst themselves, no doubt wondering what the Bae's were doing here.

Chloe stared at the open double doors where pews were lined through the room, where the casket was, where Rae was. She could start to feel her body shaking, and she suddenly felt like throwing up. Her grip around Derek's arm tightened as her heart began to thump against her chest.

Derek reached over with his free hand and clasped it over one of Chloe's. She looked up at him and he gave her a reassuring smile as if to give her the confidence to walk in there. She looked away leaning her head against his bicep.

"Derek." Someone called out. The group looked around for the source of the voice and found Alexa walking up from the hall.

"I'm going to look for Liz." Tori rolled her eyes and walked away before Alexa could reach them. Chloe wanted to go with her to avoid being around Alexa, but she didn't want to leave Derek alone with her either.

"Hey." Alexa greeted, rushing into Derek's arms.

Derek wrapped one arm around her to hug her back, so that he didn't come off rude. Chloe didn't let go of him all while resisting the urge to tell her off. Alexa pulled back and went to hug Chloe, but thinking quickly Chloe faked a sneeze making Alexa back off.

"Sorry, I think I still have a bit of a cold." Chloe lied.

"Oh, sorry." Alexa said taking a step back and hugging Simon. Chloe then noticed Colton, Alexa's boyfriend, standing behind her dressed in a black button up, and black slacks.

"You guys, remember Colton." Alexa said and coiled up in her boyfriend's arms.

"Hey." Colton smiled lifting his hand in greeting. "Sorry about all this you guys, I can't imagine what you're going through." He said.

"Thanks, it's been hard on all of us." Simon replied.

"Especially on you Chloe," Alexa added. "I mean you were really close with both Rae and June, and losing both of them…" Alexa placed her hand over her over her chest.

"I haven't lost both of them. June is still out there." Chloe glared at her.

"Of course, I'm sorry that came out wrong." Alexa quickly apologized.

"We should head inside, I think they're starting." Simon said gazing into the room. Alexa nodded allowing them to go in first.

Derek led them into the room looking for any available seats. Over to the side Tori caught sight of them and waved them over to join her and Liz. Chloe pulled Derek over there seeping space for only three more. She wanted to make sure Alexa couldn't be near Derek. Yes, her feelings towards Alexa may be petty, but she hardy cared.

Simon went in before Chloe taking a seat next to Tori with Liz on the other side of her. Derek sat in the aisle seat sandwiching Chloe in between him and his brother. Fortunately, Alexa and Colton had been pulled aside by some of the other students and got caught up in conversation.

Relaxing a bit, Chloe rested her head on Derek's shoulder entwining her fingers through his. In response he squeezed her hand and began to rub his thumb over hers in a slow pattern. Chloe shut her eyes for a second allowing herself to savor in this feeling for just a moment.

A low hush came over the crowd making Chloe open her eyes. A short balding man came out onto the stage next to the casket. He wore a soft gray suit with a blue tie that he lightly fiddled with as he cleared his throat.

"Good morning everyone, we would like to get started." He announced making the room grow silent. "Thank you, and thank you all for coming today. I am Reverend Hill and will be giving the,"

Chloe tuned out the reverend's opening speech getting distracted by a couple who sat up front. It was June's parents, they were whispering amongst themselves almost aggressively. Chloe narrowed her eyes at the very sight of them.

After her heated fight with Simon she decided to get the full story. Simon had told her everything he knew about the abuse, and the more Chloe found out the more she was convinced that Carl had something to do with Rae's death.

"He has a perfect alibi. We can't point fingers at Carl without legitimate proof." Liz whispered to Simon and Tori. Chloe looked over at them catching the end of the conversation. "Supposedly, their security system malfunctioned that night and they are still trying to fix it." She explained.

"I call bullshit." Tori huffed.

"Tori," Liz nudged her. "We're in a church."

"Sorry," Tori muttered but shook her head. "Still, what pawn shop doesn't have descent security?"

"Plus it sounds a little fishy that Carl went back to the shop to grab his phone." Simon crossed his arms over his chest.

"Just give me a day, I can see if they're lying or not." Tori replied crossing one leg over the other.

"No offense sis, but you're not really much of the interrogating type." Simon said.

"I was talking about hacking into their system, stupid." Tori snapped.

"But," Liz turned to look at Tori worry expressed clear on her face.

"It's illegal I know, but it's not like we haven't broken the law before." Tori said perfectly comfortable with her decision.

"Perhaps this conversation can be saved for later." Derek leaned over and said to them.

A bit embarrassed the three of them straightened up and payed attention to the funeral program. Chloe couldn't concentrate on any of the speeches; she was too busy staring down June's folks. She wondered if Juliet was in on it, of if Carl worked alone. She couldn't make out any answers by staring at the back of their heads, so she devised a plan.

When the program was over, the time came for everyone to line up and say their final goodbyes to Rae. Surprisingly enough most of the students decided to head out first. Sticking to her plan, Chloe walked up to talk to June's parent's first. Derek cautiously went with her, Simon following him while Tori and Liz went to wait outside.

The three of them waited patiently until it was their turn to give condolences to the Lows. Chloe reached out and shook Juliet's hand first.

"I am so sorry for the loss, truly." Chloe said to them keeping mindful of the words she used.

"Thank you, Rae was very special to us." Juliet said squeezing Chloe's hand.

"I don't think we've met." Carl stepped in holding out his hand to shake while the other snaked around Juliet's waist. To any outsider it would look like a loving gesture, but by the nervous look on Juliet's face they knew it was a warning.

"Oh, I'm Chloe. I was a close friend to both Rae and June." Chloe introduced herself shaking his hand putting her acting skills to the test. She must come off innocently sweet, and not like she wanted to rip the man's head off.

"And this is my boyfriend Derek," She added letting go of Carl's hand, "and his brother Simon."

Chloe watched closely at Carl's reaction to Simon, seeing his eyes harden and his jaw twitch.

"We've met before." Carl replied.

"Yes, plenty of times." Simon didn't even crack his usual sarcastic smirk. He looked at Carl more coldly than Chloe had ever seen before.

An awkward silence began to fall between them, so Chloe quickly changed the subject.

"Any word on June?" She asked.

"No, um she's still missing." Carl answered. Chloe looked up at him.

"It must have come as a total shock to hear that June had done this." She went on.

"Can't say I was surprised." Carl sighed. "She's had some issues for a while now, guess she finally snapped."

"What would have caused her to go off the edge?" Chloe asked further.

"The drugs maybe." Carl answered. Chloe's hand was so tightly fisted she could feel her nails bite into her palm.

"You honestly think June would be capable of killing Rae?" Simon interrupted sounding completely disgusted.

"I saw her do it." Juliet spoke up.

"Really?" Simon spun on her. "Because the last we spoke you had said that you only heard the gun shot." He accused, only to get pulled back by Derek.

"Enough." Carl said pulling Juliet closer to him. "You're holding up the line." He added in a stern voice.

"Our condolences." Derek said leading the other two down to the casket.

"You should have let me punch his lights out." Simon growled.

"We don't need to be starting fights here." Derek growled back reaching Rae.

"Just wait Simon, he'll get what's coming to him soon enough." Chloe said placing a hand on the closed casket. "I promise you Rae, we will get him." She swore leaning down and planting a kiss on the cold wood.

They met up with Tori and Liz outside near Liz's car. At that moment Derek's phone started to ring and he excused himself to answer it. Simon sighed leaning against Liz's car trying to calm himself down. Chloe walked up next to him and crossed her arms.

"You okay?" she asked. Simon glanced up at her and sighed looking back down at the ground pulling at his silk blue tie.

"Peachy." He answered yanking at his tie to come loose.

"I saw you storming out of your dad's office earlier." She said looking at the ground kicking some loose gravel. Simon looked back up at her realizing she was the one he had brushed passed this morning.

"Sorry." He said freeing his neck of tie.

"What did he say to make you so angry?" Chloe asked only to realize it wasn't any of her business and she really shouldn't be asking that.

"Just the same old stuff about me and June." He answered without hesitation wrapping his tie around his fist. He sighed again looking around the parking lot.

"I just don't understand why they hate her so much." Simon looked at Chloe as if she held the answer, but she was as clueless as she was. "She's done nothing wrong." Simon added but then bit the inside of his cheek at one realization. "Except maybe love me."

"Simon," Chloe sighed unfolding her arms and leaning against the car next to him.

"No Chloe, it's true." Simon shook his head. "June may have been going through hell before we happened, but I've only hurt her worse since. She suffered more because of me, and I…" Simon shook his head looking at the ground at a loss. Chloe watched with a broken heart as Simon tore himself up inside.

"It kills me to know that I can't be there to protect her, and instead I'm making her pain that much worse." He sniffled trying to hide the fact that he was tearing up.

Chloe didn't know what to say to that. She didn't know what she could say to make him feel better. So instead of saying anything she just wrapped her arms around his shoulders and hugged him until he had enough.

"Hey Liz," Derek's voice boomed over them catching all their attention. "Sorry to ask you this, but could you maybe take Tori and Chloe home for me?" he asked.

"Sure, no problem." Liz answered.

"What's going on?" Tori asked looking up at her brother a bit worried.

"Dad just called me said that Choi found a lead on the whole mole issue. Simon and I have to head down to office now." Derek informed her.

The group nodded going into action. Chloe walked around the car towards Derek to say goodbye before they left.

"Don't go anywhere without Montrose, promise me." Derek ordered. Chloe rolled her eyes knowing the drill.

"Yes, sir I promise not to take one step out the door without Adeline by my side." She said getting a small smile from him. "Happy?" she asked and he leaned down kissing her forehead.

"Be safe." He gave that last order before turning and walking with Simon to his car.

"Chloe, let's go." Tori called from the car.

"Okay, I'm coming, jeez." Chloe sighed getting in the back of the car.

"I have a long day ahead of me, hacking into Al's Pawn Shop is going to be easy, finding evidence with be the hard part." Tori said looking into Liz's passenger mirror to fix her make up.

"Want to stop for a stock up?" Liz asked pulling out of the parking lot.

"Yeah, but take the back roads so we don't get stuck in traffic." Tori said flipping up the visor.

"Did you see how Jake Duvall was checking you out?" Liz smirked getting onto the road.

"Ewe with a capital EWE!" Tori grimaced turning up the music.

"I swear he was picturing you naked the whole time." Liz laughed.

"Shut up!" Tori nudged Liz's shoulder making her laugh even harder.

"Didn't you see it Chloe?" Liz asked, including her into the conversation.

Chloe was confused by the sudden shift change in moods, but she guessed it was to be expected when it came to Tori and Liz.

"Who's Jake Duvall?" she asked.

"Oh my God." Liz laughed looking at Tori not believing Chloe didn't know who Jake Duvall is.

"He's that gorilla in your gym class; you know the one who always challenges the nerds to wrestle him." Tori explained.

"Ohhhhh." Chloe nodded remembering now.

"Yeah, total gross factor." Tori sighed going through her phone.

"I don't know, I think you two would make cute babies." Chloe shrugged.

Liz burst out into laughter while Tori gasped dramatically.

"You two are so disgusting." Tori said but couldn't keep that playful smile off her lips.

The three girls continued to joke around and laugh. Liz followed Tori's directions through the back roads, coming to a four way stop. When Liz began to pull forward Chloe looked out her window only to see a large black SUV speeding towards them.

She only had time to gasp when the jeep ran into Liz's little silver Jetta. The window's shattered on collision the car bending to the shape of the SUV. The air bags exploded knocking Tori's and Liz's heads back against the head rests, and knocking them out. Chloe's head smacked against something hard causing her to see black spots in her vision.

All she felt was pain, all she heard was that high pitched ringing in her ears, and all she saw was white. She tried to look for Liz and Tori to see if they were okay. She reached out for them but she felt as if she were suffocating.

"Chloe!" she heard a voice in the distance. "Chloe!" the voice came closer and Chloe could recognize the frantic tone.

Mom?
