Chapter 33

Tamsin woke up and moaned in satisfaction because she had not had a good sleep like that in days. She felt rejuvenated, warm and relaxed. Then her eyes fell on Bo, who was nestled in her arms with her face buried right under her chin and her lips pressed on her neck. Tamsin had no idea how it began with Bo holding her, and then ended up with her embracing Bo. The closeness had made her feel a little uncomfortable. She thought it was a good thing that Bo was still sound asleep, otherwise it would be too awkward to meet her eyes like this.

The late morning sun gave a warm hue to Bo's face, making her look even softer. It looked like she was glowing, like a ray of light. She looked so beautiful that she did not even look real. Tamsin could not help but stare at her fair skin, at her sweet lips, at her silky hair. When she realized that she was gazing at Bo like a bewitched fool she cleared her throat and let out a deep breath before she tried to pull her arms back.

The moment she moved, Bo moaned and snuggled closer to her.

"Don't go..." the brunette said in a whisper. She rubbed her face lightly against Tamsin's shoulder and wrapped her legs around her.

Tamsin paused there for a second or two, until she realized that Bo was just talking in her sleep. She slowly pulled her arms back and moved away from Bo, but she did not leave the bed. Taking a glance at the brunette, who now was snuggling into the blanket instead of her, Tamsin sighed as she reached her hand out. She gently caressed Bo's cheek, and then seconds later was shocked by her own move. She knew she should stay away, maybe just go down stairs and leave, but somehow she could not move.

After hesitating for a while, Tamsin slid back under the blanket to lie right next to Bo. She stared at the ceiling rigidly, not even sure what she was doing.

Then, she heard a soft, dreamy voice, "How did you sleep last night, hmmm?"

Tamsin cursed, jerking up from the bed as she threw the blanket away from her. Then her eyes met Bo's. The brunette was still half asleep, and stared at her with a lazy smile on her face. "You look recharged," Bo said and winked at Tamsin.

Tamsin rolled her eyes and got off the bed. "I'd have slept better if you hadn't been snoring next to me the entire night," she said.

Bo chuckled as she rolled to her side. She had absolutely no intention of hiding her gaze of the blonde's naked body, that is until she got a cold stare from her.

"I think the power is back on. I'm gonna go grab a shower," Tamsin said as she walked to the bathroom, thinking it was a good excuse to end the moment. She was afraid that if she stayed in the bed for a second longer, it would soon turn into a lust feast with them rolling around in the bed having hot sex.

"Need someone to give you a back rub?" Bo teased, unable to hold back a chuckle. Feeling overcharged and knowing that they had cuddled the entire night, Bo was in an excellent mood.

"Come in, and you are one leg short," was the last thing Tamsin said before she shut the French doors behind her.

"Wow, are you cooking breakfast?" Tamsin asked with a smirk when she walked downstairs and saw Bo busy in the kitchen.

"Well, it's the most important meal of the day," Bo said, "and I figured you'd want something to eat after last night. You know, after our..." Suddenly she felt like biting her own tongue for mentioning that. God, why did I have to say that?! She exclaimed silently.

Tamsin chose not to respond to that, because she had no idea how to, and she was afraid that anything that came out of her mouth in the next second would just make things worse. "I'm starving," she said before she sat down beside the table and poured herself a cup of coffee, "and it better taste good."

"Yeah, give me more of that attitude of yours, and I'm gonna sneeze on your French toast," Bo said as she put the food on Tamsin's plate.

"Then you'd definitely get your ass kicked," Tamsin said and gave her a cold stare before she went to get a banana and some strawberries. She began to slice the fruits onto her plate when Bo pushed hers in front of her. "Fine," Tamsin rolled her eyes at Bo's pleading look, and cut the rest of the fruits up for her while she tried hard not to think about how intimate it felt while doing so.

"See, you should be nice to people sometimes," Bo said, "to make people actually like you."

"Why do I need anyone to like me?" Tamsin frowned at Bo while eating her breakfast.

"Maybe if someone likes you, you wouldn't be alone in bed every night," Bo said with a teasing smile on her face.

"Hmmm… I don't know, everyone seems to like you, but oh look, here you are, stuck with a bitch like me," Tamsin said, scrunching her nose while throwing bits of her toast into her mouth.

"How do you know I am not enjoying that?" Bo retorted, reaching her hand out for the strawberries in Tamsin's plate.

"Hands in your own fucking plate!" Tamsin snarled at her as she slapped Bo's hand away.

Bo chuckled. She wanted to say something, but before could, the door opened.

"Bo-bo, I'm hooooome! And, I smell breakfaaaaast!" Kenzi's voice came from the entryway. Then the Russian girl froze right before she threw herself onto Bo. There was their rival, staring at her with a taunting smile on her face and a mouthful of food. After a moment of indecision, Kenzi turned to Bo with her eyebrows furrowed and said, "a word?"

"What the hell?!" was the first thing Kenzi said after she dragged Bo into the living room. "Why is she here?"

"Emm...'cause it was snowing pretty hard outside and she couldn't leave?" Bo replied.

"That's not what I am asking!" Kenzi said. "Why was she even here in the first place?!"

"We were working on the same case, and we found a film reel, so we came back to watch it together to find some clues," Bo said.

"Yeah right," Kenzi said in disbelief, her arms crossing in front of her chest, "Look me in my eye and tell me that you didn't bang her last night."

"Well… I didn't say I didn't bang her..." Bo said in a low, embarrassed voice.

"What's wrong with you, dude!" Kenzi said as she slapped Bo on her shoulder, "I thought we were gonna kick her ass for messing with us and shit! Do you even know why she fucked with our memories? Or you just believed whatever stupid excuse she told you because you can't keep your vajayjay in your pants?"

"Yeah, about that, Kenz," Bo said, "I… look, it's complicated, and I promise I'll tell you as soon as I catch a break on this stupid candy factory case, Ok? But do me a favor, don't ask her about the memory thing."

Kenzi frowned when she saw the serious look on Bo's face. She knew something big must have happened between her and Tamsin, and she was not sure if she should push that issue right now. Eventually she nodded and said, "Fine, and before I go to bed I have one last question for you."

"Shoot," Bo smiled.

"Is she a friend or foe?" Kenzi asked.

Bo went quiet for a while. She definitely knew that Tamsin was not a foe, but she was not sure if she was a friend yet either. What she knew for sure was, Tamsin did not like sex demons, and that every time they got intimate, the blonde would try to run away. However, every time she was injured, the Valkyrie was there for her and acted like she really cared, and that just confused her. Bo sighed when she thought about that. "Not a foe," she eventually said.

Kenzi nodded as she rolled her eyes. She took a glance at Tamsin, before she said, "Alright, I'll leave you two be. Whatever you're gonna do later, keep it down. And please, Bo-bo, don't do it on the couch!"

"Relax, we're just gonna watch something later," Bo said.

"Yeah, watch something together, the first step to oh-my-god-what-have-I-done," Kenzi snorted, "Anyway, I'm gonna go to bed. Spent the entire night looking for the Morrigan with Vex."

"Right, what happened to her?" Bo asked.

"We don't know," Kenzi said, "she's like… gone. She's not at her agency. She's not home. She didn't even go to her spa treatment."

"Oh, that sounds kinda serious," Bo said, "although, I guess it may be nice that the bitch's gone."

"I don't know. Vex is convinced that we should find her before some shit storm happens," Kenzi said, "but anyway, I'm gonna go get some sleep."

"Ok," Bo nodded, kissing the petite girl on her cheek.

After eating their breakfast, Bo set up the projector again so they could finish the second half of the film they were watching last night.

"Where did we leave off last night?" Bo asked as she checked the frames on the reel so she could find the exact spot where they were watching right before the power went off.

"I think it was the third trial, and some guy walked in," Tamsin replied.

"Yeah, here we go," Bo said as she turned on the projector.

Just like she remembered, a group of people numbly walked into the room, and after a short while they left, and then some guy came in.

The man was wearing a suit, with a walking stick in his hand. He had his back towards the camera as he talked to the hazmat guy in the room. The hazmat guy seemed to be very respectful towards him.

Then the man turned around to face the camera. The moment Bo saw his face, she froze completely. Then she heard him talk and she gasped. She wanted to say something, anything, but was too shocked to get a single word out from her throat.

"What now?" Tamsin asked when she noticed how rigidly Bo posed herself on the couch with her eyes open wide, as if she had just seen a ghost. Getting no reply from the brunette, she frowned and stared at Bo. "What?" she asked again.

"Oh, God," Bo said as she inhaled sharply, "I can't believe this..."

Tamsin rolled her eyes. "Can't believe what?" she asked.

"That man..." Bo said hesitantly, "I know him. I've seen him before."

"Really?" Tamsin asked, intrigued. "Who is he?"

Bo bit her bottom lip. She was not sure if she should tell Tamsin about it, but she was just dying to get it off of her chest. "He's my father," she said.

"What?!" Tamsin exclaimed as she grabbed Bo's arm, "bitch you better not be joking!"

Bo huffed out a light laugh. "God, I wish I was joking, Tamsin, but this man... he is my father."

"Well, what are we waiting for then? Let's go pay dear daddy a visit, because whatever this shit is, he's in deep," Tamsin said as she stood up.

"Yeah, if only I knew where he was," Bo said. "I've only met him once, and the encounter was not pleasant at all. In fact, I thought I killed him that time, until several weeks ago..."

Tamsin raised her eyebrows. "Now it's your turn to share, sweetheart," she said, sitting back down to the couch.

Bo bit her bottom lip and went quiet again. Then she said, "well… you know that case you have on me, that massive massacre?"

"Uhm hum," Tamsin nodded.

"Well, that actually happened... at my father's place, and anyway, I thought for sure he died there that day 'cause I thought I remembered seeing his body. But, it was just a vague image..."

"But, he didn't?"

"No," Bo shook her head, "they've compared the DNA of all the bodies there with mine, and no one is related to me. So, I guess he's still alive."

"What exactly do you know about him?" Tamsin asked, frowning. She was not expecting such huge news at all, and was very curious about it, not just because of the case, but because she wanted to know more about Bo.

"Nothing," Bo said.

"Yeah right..." Tamsin said with her eyes narrowed, "you said you've only met him once, but I'm sure you two talked about some important things."

"Yeah, we did, but it didn't end well. That's why he sent those monsters and underfae to kill me," Bo replied, her head lowered.

"What did you talk about?" Tamsin asked.

"I don't know," Bo said. Then she paused there, surprised that she did not know what her father had talked about with her. "I can't… I can't remember," she murmured, shocked, because she thought that all her memories should have come back to her. She thought she remembered everything after the memory re-linking process, but she was so busy dealing with the case and things with Tamsin, that she actually had not thoroughly thought about all the things that had happened at her father's place. Now, when she tried to recall the moment she was talking with her father, she found that particular piece of memory was still hazy, except for one. She remembered her father's face and voice.

"What are you talking about? Why can't you remember?" Tamsin asked. She observed the look on Bo's face closely, trying to make sure that the brunette was not lying.

Yeah, why can't I remember? I thought all my memories would be back in place, because the Administrator dude re-linked everything, Bo thought. Then something suddenly occurred to her. She remembered that when she was in the Rebirth Temple, the Memory Fae had been spooked by her, and the little girl had shut down her system before the whole process was done. Then she remembered that the Administrator told her there was maybe one or two percent of Tamsin's memory that had not been downloaded. Is that it? Bo thought, maybe that's it. Maybe that piece of memory is still lost in my brain, because that piece of Tamsin's memory was not downloaded properly.

"Hey, answer me," Tamsin said as she lightly tapped Bo's face when she saw her go into a trance, "why can't you remember?"

Bo cleared her throat. She really did not want to bring back the whole Valkyrie conversation again with Tamsin because it hurt, but also she did not want the blonde to figure out that she was the Valkyrie in question. However, somehow she just felt that she desperately needed to get everything off her chest. Taking a deep breath, she said, "Remember that Valkyrie I told you about?"

"Yes?" Tamsin said. "She's involved?"

Bo nodded. "She was… emmm… she was with me that day, and… anyway, I guess it's because she erased her memories about me, so… I really can't remember. I wish I could."

"She was with you that day?!" Tamsin exclaimed. "Damn… why? Did she come to rescue you because you were in danger or something?"

"Actually… she delivered me to my father. She was working for him, and-"

"That does not make sense! Valkyries don't work for anyone but the Queen. How could she be working for your father?!"

"I don't know," Bo said, "but, she was sent to deliver me, and so… there we were… and when those monsters attacked me, she… she tried to save me and… she died for me."

Tamsin sighed. When she saw that painful look in Bo's eyes, she almost regretted asking about anything. "Sucks for her," she said, "had she known you can do a massive kill, she might still be breathing."

Bo huffed out a light laugh, trying to hold back her tears. "I think… I think I did that because she was dying. I was trying to save her or something. I don't know. It's not something I can control, and it's only happened a few times. The first time was when Lauren was being held captive, I sucked the Chi out of everyone in the room to save her. The second time was for Dyson, when he came out from my Dawning he was not breathing, I sucked the Chi from the people in the room in order to give it to him and revive him. Then there was… there was that… I didn't know… I didn't know that it would not work for Valkyries. I thought I could save her by giving Chi back to her… I really thought I could..."

"Ok, alright, enough of your sad little story," Tamsin said impatiently, not wanting to handle a situation where Bo was about to cry. She had to force herself not to hug her because she did not want to show how much she care. "Is there anything useful that you can tell me about your father? Anything?"

Bo shook her head. "The only thing I could come up with, is that I think he was trying to persuade me to do something, but I refused..."

"Oh great," Tamsin grunted, "just when I thought I had a breakthrough on this damn case. You are fucking useless."

Bo smiled bitterly and said nothing. Both of them fell into absolute silence on the couch and stared at the wall. After Bo had seen all the torture experiments in the film, she was left trying to digest the news about her father's involvement in this case. She wanted to come up with something so she could solve the case, but more importantly she wanted to make sure that she was not somehow involved in it, since she had no idea what her father had told her during their meeting. Tamsin, on the other hand—after having seen how heartbroken Bo looked when she talked about the Valkyrie—was trying to suppress her urge to hold Bo in her arms and ease her pain. "I guess that the hand scanner worked for me because… I shared my father's DNA, or something," Bo murmured.

"Makes sense," Tamsin replied, not sure what else she could say.

Bo let out a deep breath. She paused for a second or two, before she said, "I guess I'm gonna go talk to the Una Mens."

"What?" Tamsin exclaimed with her eyes narrowed, surprised by Bo's words. "Are you crazy? Don't you think that they might still be hunting your sweet little ass?"

"Well, what else can I do?" Bo said. "We know that they raided that firm, and we know they are following this case. Maybe they know something that we don't, and don't forget they took all the other reels from the firm. There must be clues in them..."

"How do you propose you're gonna talk to them? You think that they are just gonna hand everything you ask for over to you without questioning? Or that you can just pull a few Succubus tricks on them and make them cooperate?"

"I don't know. I guess I could sneak in and take a peek at their trophies... maybe, or trade information with them, or kick their ass or something?" Bo said.

"Right, you think you can actually kick their asses?" Tamsin said in a sarcastic tone, "You'll be lucky if you can actually get out of their chamber alive with all your limbs attached."

"What other choice do I have?" Bo asked.

"How about stay away from the Una Mens?" Tamsin replied.

"But, they may be the only ones that know anything about this case," Bo said. "And if my father's behind this, I gotta find out the truth. I need to know if there's anything that involves me."

Tamsin frowned. She stared at Bo for a while, before she asked, "Why do you think there would be anything that involves you in this case?"

"Gee, I don't know, it's like my family tradition. All the shit they do involves me. My mother wanted me to rule the world with her. Then my grandfather fucked up during the Fae war and unleashed the damn Garuda—which I had to kill. And my father… You think he could be any better than them? What if he has some sort of plan for me, like making me his lieutenant or whatever..."

"Or maybe you are just paranoid," Tamsin commented.

Bo sighed. "Call me paranoid all you want, Tamsin. I just know. I have to figure this shit out, before and even bigger shit storm falls down on everyone."

Tamsin closed her eyes in frustration, torn between wanting to slap Bo on her face to stop her from being so stupid, and wanting to protect her from the danger by going with her. Eventually words just tumbled out of her mouth, "Fine. Grab your things, and let's go then."

Bo was caught off guard when she heard that. She did not expect Tamsin would offer to go with her. She stared at the blonde, not sure whether she actually meant it or was just making fun of her. Then she saw the look of hesitation in Tamsin's eyes, as if the Valkyrie herself didn't even sure if it was a good idea.

"You… emmm… you don't have to..." Bo murmured, not wanting to drag Tamsin into something she was not willing to do.

"Oh, shut the fuck up and grab your things before I change my mind," Tamsin grunted as she put on her jacket.

"Ok, I'll go get my things. Just give me five minute," Bo said before she went upstairs.

Oh fuck me, Tamsin thought, regretting her hasty decision immediately. She sank into the couch irritated by how much she did not want to see Bo get hurt. How am I gonna get out of this one? She asked herself, and came up with no answer.
