Chapter 37

It's been about a month since the accident, and things are finally starting to look good again. Mom has been home the entire time, Caleb decided to stay here longer before heading back to college, Percy is learning how to control his emotions better, and most of all Zach is almost completely healed. The only things that still hurts are his collar bone, but he said it only really hurts when he touches it, and the same goes for his ribs. They're not broken, just sore. I think the best thing so far, is that Zach isn't mad at Percy. I think that was the one thing I was worried about the most, that there would be tension between them. Although it is pretty empty around here now, so that kind of sucks. Mom is here, but she just sits in her room crying about how unfair life is, Caleb is back in college, and won't be back until his graduation. So, it's basically just me and Zach now, and he's been a lot less active with his injuries. But, Tobias and my friends come over a lot to keep me company, so it's not that bad. But, today is Zach's first day of school since the accident, so after putting on a pair of black high waisted shorts, a light blue chambray, and a pair of ankle boots I walk in to his room. He's lying on his be in a pair of black jeans and blue high tops. He said it hurts when he puts on his shirts, so I pull a blue polo shirt over his head. When I'm done, he grabs my hand dragging me down the stairs. I put him in a car seat, and hop into the driver's seat of my car, before heading off to McDonalds. I get two breakfast burritos for us, an orange juice for him, and a caramel frappe for me. I head to the school next, and walk him into his class. As all the kids run up to him cheering, I tell the teacher to just email any stuff that Zach missed to my mom's email address. After giving him a hug, I walk to my building and into my homeroom. As soon as I step in the room, Christina squeals before running up to me and giving me a huge hug. I haven't seen them in a while, because I stayed at home to take care of Zach when Caleb left. So, I haven't been at school in about two weeks. When she lets go, the rest of the gang walk up to give me hugs too, before finally Tobias walks up to me.

"I've been to your house a lot, so I got to see you, but I want a hug too." He gives me such a cheeky smile, that I can't say no. I nod my head, and he wraps me in his arms, kissing my cheek.

The rest of the day goes by pretty fast, and I'm glad because today is one of the days we get to visit Percy. So, as soon as the bell rings signaling the end of school, I run out of the room dragging Tobias behind me. We hop into my car, and drive to pick up Zach before heading to the mental institution where they are keeping Percy. The office lady knowing who we are by now, doesn't even bother stopping us, as we rush down the hallway to the elevator. The extremely slow ride is torturous with the stupid elevator music playing, but soon I hear the familiar ding and the doors open. We hurry out, and head to Percy's room, not bothering to knock on the door. What a mistake that was because we just happened to walk into the wrong room, and saw some wonderful older lady doing some strange exercises that really show off her thighs. I quickly cover Zach's eyes, and drag him out of the room away from that horrible sight. Tobias follows quickly behind, and we walk slowly to Percy's room and decide to knock this time. I hear the familiar sound of Percy's voice yell out, "Come in!" We walk in, and I shield Zach's eyes just in case. But, once I see Percy lying on his bed watching his favorite show, Degrassi, I uncover his eyes. He immediately runs to Percy, and lays next to him on the bed. Tobias sits on a chair next to the bed, and I sit on his lap. We all sit there for about two hours, before deciding to head home since Zach has now fallen asleep. Tobias says his goodbyes, before picking up Zach and carrying him out the room.

"I miss you Trissy…"

"I miss you too, Percy. But, I promise to come back and visit the next time I came." I softly respond back to him. He smiles at me, and I lean down to kiss his cheek before walking out the door saying goodbye once more. I walk out the hallway, and head into the elevator with Tobias and a sleeping Zach. The rest of the evening is silent, but it's a comfortable one. I drop him off at his house and tell him, I'll just pick him up in the morning. He says okay, before giving me a chaste peck on the lips and bidding me a farewell. I drive home, and have one of the guards carry Zach up the stairs for me. They lay him down on his bed, but I wake him up to tell him to put on some pajamas. I go to my room, to take a quick shower and change into my own pajamas which only consists of a pair of sweatpants, and a tank top. When I'm done, I head back over to Zach's room, where he's waiting for me on his bed in a pair of batman footie pajamas. I tuck him in, and give him a kiss on the cheek before saying goodnight and heading to my room. I hop in my bed, and soon fall asleep.
