Soldier Chapter 37

One Year Later

Percy had never been so nervous, excited, and scared all at once in his life. Taking a deep breath he looked back into the mirror as he tried to fix his tie for the millionth time.

Knock.. Knock

"It's open" he said not looking away from the mirror.

Sally walked into the room closing the door behind her, looking at her son in his tuxedo with a huge helpless grin on his face as he tried to do is tie she couldn't help but smile.

"Here let me" she said moving to stand between him and the mirror.

"You'd think all those years in the army you'd be able to do this on your own" Sally said teasingly.

Percy laughed "Yeah but I was never this nervous before"

"You have nothing to be nervous about sweetie, Annabeth loves you, you have no reason to be nervous sweetie" Sally said finishing his tie.

Percy sighed "I know that mom, but this is a really big step. What if I make a horrible husband? Or a horrible dad in the future?"

"Oh sweetie as long as you love Annabeth and do everything in your power to make her happy like you have for the past two years you'll never be a horrible husband. And as far as a horrible father, that could never happen sweetie. I've seen you with Gracie since she was born and you've always been wonderful with her. I know you'll make a wonderful husband and father Percy and Annabeth knows that as well".

Percy closed his eyes taking a deep breath "Thank you mom, I don't know I would do without you right now".

Sally smiled kissing his cheek "You'd be a nervous wreck. Come on we need to meet your dad, Amphitrite and Paul in the entrance way".

Meanwhile Annabeth sat in one of the many guest bedrooms of Poseidon's house as Piper finished her make-up and hair. Annabeth couldn't believe she was getting married today, to the most wonderful man she had ever meet. It had been a little over a year since Percy proposed and a lot of things had changed since then. Thalia and Luke had gotten married almost six months ago, Annabeth had never seen her best friend so happy before. Nico finally proposed to Katie and the two eloped in Vegas two months ago with Percy and Annabeth by their sides. Athena had finally gotten over her hatred of Percy although she still refused being in the same room as Poseidon for more than a couple of hours. Bobby and Matthew were in college both doing really well, Malcolm was married to Ashley and the two just had a beautiful little girl named Annie. Thalia had finally reconciled with Jason and her father. Resulting in Piper doing everyone's hair and make-up for the wedding as well as one of Annabeth's bridesmaids. Leo still refused to propose to Reyna saying he liked his freedom even though he and Reyna had been together the longest but Reyna wasn't ready to get married yet either. Frank proposed to Hazel on Christmas the two were planning a summer wedding next year.

"Annabeth if you don't stop tapping your foot I'm going to break it and you'll have to hobble down the aisle" Thalia finally having enough of Annabeth's nervous habit.

"I'm sorry I'm just nervous" Annabeth said.

Thalia rolled her eyes standing up from the bed and walking towards her best friend "Annabeth Chase you have absolutely no reason to be nervous that gigantic kelp head down the hall loves and adores you. We all know Percy would do anything for you, he's crazy about you. And I know for fact that you've been crazy about him since the day you meet him in Central Park. Relax Annie everything's going to be just fine".

Annabeth smiled trying very hard to fight the tears "God I love you Thalia" she said throwing her arms around her best friend in a hug.

Thalia laughed hugging her back "I'm only doing what you did for me. Come on it's almost time to start heading downstairs".

Percy smiled as he walked down the aisle with Sally and Amphitrite on either side of him, along with Poseidon and Paul behind him. Hugging both Amphitrite and Sally along with kissing each on the cheek and shaking hands with his dad and Paul he moved to stand in front of the alter next to the pastor. Soon the traditional wedding themed music started and the wedding party started walking down the aisle. First was Leo and Reyna, then Frank and Hazel, then Jason and Piper, then Luke and Katie, followed by the best man and maid of honor who threw a major fit about walking together Nico and Thalia, and then came a bouncing Gracie as the flower girl. Once everyone had reached the alter the bridal song started.

Percy didn't think he had ever seen someone as beautiful as Annabeth looked when she started walking down the aisle with her father. He couldn't help but stare at her, it seemed like time had slowed down for both Percy and Annabeth. It seemed like it took forever but Annabeth finally reached Percy at the alter.

"Hey wise girl" Percy said as they stood holding hands and facing each other.

Annabeth smiled "Hello Seaweed brain".

"Ladies and Gentlemen I introduce to you for the first time Mr. and Mrs. Perseus Jackson" the pastor said as they broke away from their first kiss as husband and wife.

After taking pictures and receiving all the congratulations from their guests Annabeth and Percy made their way onto the dance floor sharing their first dance.

Percy kissed her forehead "How does it feel to be Mrs. Jackson?"

Annabeth smiled moving her head from his chest to look up at him "It feels pretty great Mr. Jackson".

Percy smiled bending down to kiss her. "I love you Annabeth Jackson".

"I love you to Mr. Jackson" Annabeth said kissing him again.

"Alright everyone it's time for the father daughter dance" the DJ announced.

"May I cut in" Mr. Chase asked.

Percy smiled "Of course" he said before kissing Annabeth one last time and moving to go sit next to Luke and Nico. Percy watched as Paul danced with Gracie, Zeus danced with Thalia, Hades danced with Hazel, and Malcolm danced with baby Annie along with other father and daughter guests.

"How does it feel to be married man?" Nico asked.

Percy smiled "It feels pretty damn awesome".

"I don't think I've ever seen you this happy Annabeth" Mr. Chases said as they danced together.

"I don't think I've ever been this happy dad" Annabeth said.

"Your absolutely glowing sweetie, if I didn't know any better…."

Annabeth just smiled reaching up to kiss her dad's cheek as the song ended "I love you dad".

Mr. Chase pulled her into a hug "I love you to Annabeth".

"Alright Mothers out here grab those boys and drag them onto the dance floor for the mother son dance" the DJ announced.

Percy smiled "Come on Nico I see two very scary women who want to drag us onto the dance floor".

"Hey I know how to dance, it's you who has two left feet" Nico said standing up and meeting Persephone on the floor quickly spinning her around.

Percy laughed "Don't hit me if I step on your feet" he said as he began dancing with his mom.

"Over the years I've gotten used to it sweetie. I'm so proud of you Percy" Sally said smiling.

"Thank you mom" Percy said.

After the dance was over Percy snuck up behind Annabeth who was playing with baby Annie "Can I steal my beautiful wife for another dance?" Percy said.

Annabeth laughed "Of course you can husband" she said taking his hand and standing up as he lead her onto the dance floor.

Percy looked around to see all of his friends and family dancing with one another on the floor and enjoying themselves.

"I can't wait to go to the Bahamas with you" Percy said smiling.

"Neither can I. Look Percy there's something I need to tell you, I wanted to wait until we left for the honeymoon but I think your mom and my dad are starting to suspect" Annabeth began.

"You know you can tell me anything Annabeth, what is it?" Percy asked.

Annabeth took a deep breath looking up into his green eyes "I'm pregnant Percy".

Percy's eyes widened and he stopped moving "You…. we… baby" he managed to stumble out.

Annabeth nodded her head "I just found out last week, I'm two months pregnant".

Percy smiled picking her up and spinning her around as he pressed his lips onto hers.

Finally after breaking the kiss and setting her down Percy rested his head against hers "Were really having a baby?" he whispered.

Annabeth smiled "Yes were really having a baby".

Percy's smile got even bigger something Annabeth didn't think was possible, turning around he yelled out "Were having a baby, I'm going to be a dad".

Everyone around them started cheering and clapping.

"I'm gonna be a grandma" Sally said instantly breaking into tears as she hugged her son and daughter.

"Congratulations son" Poseidon said hugging him.

Thalia had the biggest smile on her face as she pulled Annabeth into a hug "Congratulations Annie, it looks like we're going to be going through crazy hormones and morning sickness together".

Annabeth's eyes widened "You're pregnant".

Thalia nodded her head "3 months, I wanted to tell you but we thought it'd be best to wait until after the wedding".

Annabeth squealed hugging her best friend as Percy and Luke congratulated each other.

"This is insane, but at least I have someone who will feel my pain when things get really crazy" Percy said.

Luke laughed "My thoughts exactly".

Once everyone was done congratulating them Percy pulled Annabeth into him "I love you so much Annabeth you've made me the happiest man here".

Annabeth smiled "I feel exactly the same way about you Percy. You have no idea how much I love you".

Percy smiled kissing her "I think I have a pretty good idea wise girl".
