Chapter 37

Cinder Fall and her posse stood within the room in silence, Cinder rubbing an ointment over her damaged voice box she allowed Mercury to read his X-ray and Vav comic in peace while Emerald read a novel, all were silent before Cinder perked up at sensing an approaching aura, standing up and walking to the door she crossed her arms as she heard a knock of a drum roll, hiding a smile she opened it to show James wearing his dragon mask and cloak, staring at Cinder she could tell he had a smile as he held out a red rose to her, seeing it she scowled slightly while taking it, only to realise it had blood on it, walking away the being stepped in the room after her, startling Mercury and Emerald as they took fighting stance, until they blinked as the man held Cinder in a loving embrace, moving his helmet up to assault her neck with kisses.

"Uh, okay, can someone explain what I'm seeing?" Mercury questioned while Emerald gawked, seemingly seeing these two normally at each others throats in a hostile way, but this made her mind go into reboot.

"What does it look like boy, Mistress Salem thinks we hate each other to death, but our acting may even put actors to shame" James said as he moved to a chair while leaving Cinder, who looked at the rose in her hand before turning to her secret lover.

"Mercury, close your mouth or you'll catch an insect" Cinder said as she moved to the chair James sat in, smiling devilishly she sat on his lap, holding the rose she spoke.

"Who did you eat to ruin this?" Cinder questioned with James looking up with his normal human eyes replaced by black surrounded by red.

"An Atlas colonel, apparently they are suspicious about the one who hurt you" James said while rubbing a hand over the woman's damaged throat.

"How so?"

It was at this point Emerald and Mercury paid attention.

"They believe he is working with us, do you believe that, simply because he's a Faunus"

Hearing this, Cinder let out a sigh.

"Typical, Atlas of all the kingdoms show more prejudice to Faunus, and what of Jacque Schnee?"

"Old bastard still cares about his company more than his family" James said with Cinder sighing, leaning onto his chest, making the man grin at the two teenagers.

"Please leave the room, we have some… personal issues to catch up on" Cinder said with a seductive smile to James, who merely smiled devilishly.

Sitting up from the couch of the Living room of Taiyang's home, Kolbe stretched his arms as a muscle shirt formed on his being with his sweat pants turning into black jeans with a pair of socks present, rubbing his face to rid his eyes of sleep he turned behind him to see Yang sleeping calmly with her remaining arm wrapped around his waist he smiled sadly while reaching for her right arms stump, rubbing it in defeat he looked to the other couch to see Blake sleeping alone, making him sigh while turning on the TV, and so far Kolbe was keeping an eye out for any sign of Adam and James, Adam for revenge and James… he didn't know what to think about the enigma seeing he came out of nowhere.

Standing up to get a drink he wrapped the blanket around Yang to keep her warm as he went to the kitchen, where he saw a note addressed for him.

Opening it he read it calmly before his eyes widened before he rushed to Ruby's room where a made bed sat, with Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren and Nora also absent, making the Faunus begin to hyperventilate he went to go before his scroll buzzed, making him look down to it to see it was Nora, moving outside to try and catch their scents he answered.

"Nora, where are you?" Kolbe questioned while looking around.

"Kolbe, I take it you found the note?" her voice made him sigh in relief as he sat down on a stone chair, a Beowolf moving to his side in curiosity.

"Yeah, i found the Note, the least you five could've done is tell me beforehand" Kolbe spoke with a worried tone as he rubbed the head of the Beowolf like he did Sox.

"Welllll, we would've if that Fire guy hadn't come with us" Nora said with Kolbe instantly thinking of Puraido.

"They will be under my care, father, you have my word" the voice of Puraido made Kolbe sigh while rubbing his forehead before he spoke.

"Just be sure they stay safe, Ruby and Nora"

"We'll keep them safe Buddy, don't worry" Jaune said through the scroll, making him laugh softly.

"That goes for you two as well, and Ren" Kolbe said with a chuckle and soft laugh echoing through the scroll.

"We'll do our best, fare well" Pyrrha said before the call ended, with Kolbe sitting up with a sigh as he looked to the house in front of him he turned to the Beowolf that leaned against him as he scratched its ears.

Smiling slightly the Faunus stood up to walk back into the house, where the sound of a kettle heating in the kitchen rang to his ears, looking he saw Blake standing in the kitchen with her back to him and Yang sitting beside the bench facing Blake, looking to him she smiled softly with Blake turning to him, a slight smile also present as he held the note from Ruby, walking to them he held it to Blake, who moved beside Yang for them to read.

Sitting down on the couch to rub his head he heard yang sigh in annoyance.

"Ruby this is beyond you" Yang said as she sat down beside Kolbe, her eyes showing great worry before Taiyang walked into the house.

Seeing the note in Yang's hand he sighed.

"She left me a note as well" the man said as he walked towards them, sitting down on the couch beside Kolbe.

"Dad, how long till my arm is ready?" Yang questioned as she stepped around the couch a stern look from the blonde who had a renewed fire in her eyes.

"It's still in its building stage, and a month or two with Vale still recovering." Taiyang said with Yang sighing as she sat down beside Kolbe, leaning her head against his shoulders he brought her into a hug.

"By the way, your right to Menagerie has arrived today, you two might want to hurry up" Taiyang said with the two Faunus turning to him, looking to yang he kissed her forehead.

"We'll be back as soon as we can, just hang in there" Kolbe said as he got up, before Taiyang and Yang stood up.

"We're seeing you off actually, I already have essentials packed for you" Taiyang said as he held a bag to Blake, making Kolbe smile happily as Yang wrapped her arm around him.

"Just be back when I'm back on my feet… alright?" Yang said with Kolbe smiling fondly as he brought her into a hug.

"We'll be back before you know it" Kolbe said before the four stood up to leave, with Yang staying close to the wolf Faunus.

An hour later

Sitting down on the deck of the ship in silence, Blake watched Kolbe wave to Yang and Taiyang she sat down with a soft smile as their voyage to Menagerie began, with Blake unconsciously holding her stomach before looking to the ocean.

Leaning on the railing in a comforting silence Kolbe felt a feeling of annoyance approaching later on.

Looking to the oceanic view, Kolbe looked to Blake to see her staring at the ocean herself, a smile gracing her beautiful face with Kolbe moving to sit beside her, making her lean against him with a sigh.

"So, you've never been to Menagerie until now?" Blake questioned with Kolbe chuckling nervously.

"To be honest, I never even knew about it until two months ago" Kolbe said with Blake smiling.

"You'll love my mother"

"I'm just picturing an older version of you with longer hair" Kolbe said with Blake laughing as the two stared at the ocean in comforting silence.

"Ah, so adorable" a female voice said with the two turning to see Aeron floating in the air with a smile, making Blake roll her eyes as Kolbe laughed lightly, stretching his arms he wrapped his left arm around Blake's shoulders.

"I'm gonna get some sleep" Kolbe said while rubbing his eyes, making ash shroud over his eyes as he leaned back, with Blake smiling as Aeron sat beside them.

"So, have any news?" Aeron questioned with a knowing voice, making Blake smile shyly.

"Oh don't worry, I'm sure they'll be delighted to see you and… the passenger" Aeron said with Blake looking away with a blush.

Standing up she leant on the railing with a smile as Aeron vanished into wisps of wind.

Enjoying the view while noting of Vale's ports and island out of sight Blake let out a sigh as she looked to her chest in thought.

Hearing children laughing to her right she had a smile of hope while she looked to her stomach, returning her gaze to the ocean she failed to notice the captain approaching.

"Travelling alone?" turning to the voice Blake smiled to the captain who smiled back, looking to a sleeping Kolbe the captain followed her gaze, nodding in understanding he leaned on the railings beside her.

"So, brother or boyfriend, I'm always confused about the young'uns this generation brought out" hearing this Blake let out a laugh, facing the captain she gestured to Kolbe and then her stomach, smiling as the Captain had a look of understanding.

"Ah, well congratulations then" hearing running footsteps Blake turned to see the two children from before running by with laughter, making her smile as she looked at them.

"I just hope its manageable as he is" Blake said with a smile, making the captain laugh as Kolbe snored away, as the Captain chuckled.

"Well, I'll leave ya be" with that, the kind man left to run the ship.

"And fair warning, these trips can be awfully boring" giving the captain a kind nod with a smile Blake turned to the railing as he left, leaving Blake to her own thoughts.

Letting out an accepting sigh she reached up and untied her bow, holding the fabric in her left hand she smiled as she released it from her grip, letting it float to the ocean below.

"It had its uses" turning she stared into Kolbe's golden eyes, his brown eyes no longer available to his appearance.

Turning away from the railings the two entered the ship to eat, with Kolbe sniffing the air with a frown.

"I smell monkeys and Bananas" Kolbe said with Blake giving him an odd look.

Later that evening

Returning to the railings in silence, Blake and Kolbe stared at the faint stars above in silence as a Faunus couple walked by, with Kolbe nudging her side calmly with a smile, making her lightly punch his shoulder as payback before she stepped away from the railing, making Kolbe follow her before he noticed her stop, making his right ear twitch as Blake spun around with Gambol Shroud extending into its sword form, making Kolbe turn to the upper deck to see a person wearing a cloak, flexing his fingers with claws growing Kolbe growled menacingly with the being running, confusing them both before the ship shook, making Kolbe turn as Blake leaned against the ship, looking to the ocean their eyes widened at seeing a sea Dragon rising from the ocean.

Turning to Blake the two nodded, with Kolbe reverting his hands to normal to summon ash around his arms, forming a grenade launcher as Blake shifted her sword into its pistol form, aiming for the eyes.

"All hands to battle stations"

"Oshanzu if you're here now is a good time to help' Kolbe mentally called as he formed his weapon.

Rushing forward with Blake the cat Faunus leaped off of the railings with a shadow clone giving her propulsion, throwing Gambol as a grappling hook onto the Grimm Kolbe leaped at the Grimm with ease, shifting the Grenade launcher into a hammer like Nora's, only it turned into a battle axe instead.

Seeing Blake swing behind it to fire her returned weapon the Grimm turned its head to be hit by Kolbe's axe, the shockwave strong enough to push Blake and Kolbe onto the ship, landing with a growl Kolbe held the axe with one arm, looking for Oshanzu anywhere he scowled as the sea dragon went to nose dive the ship, only for it to swerve and avoid a collision course, watching the Sea Dragon swim by the ship Kolbe looked around once more for Oshanzu, only to see him absent. Seeing Blake run to the middle of the ship as the Grimm flew over it he rushed after her, leaping onto the captains cabin with ease he caught Blake's weapon to yank over his shoulder, pulling Blake up to him he turned to the Grimm to see it roar.

Twirling in place with his axe held it, Blake leaped onto the flat side of the weapon for Kolbe to send her to the Grimm, holding the axe like a Javelin he threw it with a gunshot echoing from the hilt, seeing the thrown weapon flying to her Blake caught it to swing down onto the Grimm's head, followed by cannon fire hitting the Grimm, causing Blake to be hit back to the ship with Kolbe catching her, making her hiss in pain while holding her left shoulder.

Seeing the Grimm in the distance in the water Kolbe squinted his eyes to see the fins on its back retract, making his eyes widen as wings sprouted behind its arms, flying into the air Kolbe held Blake close to him as he sensed the incoming shockwave.

Clawing the ground with Blake at his side Kolbe scowled with his eyes melting into red.

Seeing the large cannon on the front fire but miss Kolbe went to jump until he felt two feet on his back, seeing the cloaked being from before flying upward towards the Grimm, losing the cloak the two saw

"SUN!" the two yelled as the Monkey Faunus activated his semblance, he landed on its snout with his light clones pulling its whiskers back for the lightning beam to miss, making Kolbe smile as Blake yelled.

"What are you Doing!?" Blake yelled as Sun was now trying to steer the Grimm with its whiskers, making Kolbe leap into the air to grab its bottom jaw.

'OH you KNOW, JUST HANGING OUT!" Sun yelled as the Grimm flew wildly before flying upward with another attack readying.

Electrifying Sun as Kolbe sent a punch into its jaw, forcing it to fly upside down as he dived towards Sun.

Catching up to his friend the two highfived before Blake collided with them, sending Kolbe onto the ground while Blake held Sun in her arms.

"My hero!" Sun said with Blake dropping him to go help Kolbe, who stood up with his back popping.

Looking to the Grimm Kolbe called for Terragon, who immediately answered the call as the stone giant rose from the ground with a tremor, forming his hammer he held it over his head before throwing it, allowing Blake, Sun and Kolbe to return to the Ship.

Arriving just in time for Sun and Kolbe to deflect a lightning strike as Blake landed on the ship where the Captain ran to.

"Huntsmen, if you can clip its wings and lure it to the bow, we can take it" the captain said as Terragon was trying to land a hit on the flying target.

Making Kolbe yell out to the giant.

"Lure it to the Bow!" giving his father a nod the Giant began to move, allowing the captain to return to the wheel while Sun and his clones leaped into the air, with Blake being sent flying by said clones, giving her a birds eye view of the Grimm as it flew around Terragon who ignored its attacks, looking up the giant gave a nod as Kolbe moved to a possible landing sight of Blake as she began to descend, watching her cut through its right wing Kolbe moved below her where Sun joined his side, smiling Kolbe caught her while Sun cheered with his fists held in the air.

"My hero" Blake said with a smile as Sun and Kolbe chuckled before the Sea Dragon grimm crashed into the stone holding the platform up, making Kolbe toss Blake on the stone pillars leading back to the ship, throwing Sun after her he turned to see Terragon running after the Grimm, making Kolbe leap onto the giants right shoulder.

"Where's Oshanzu?" Kolbe questioned with the Giant sparing a glance.

"He's with Schnee, acting as a guard for her safety" looking forward Terragon shoved the grimm away from Blake and Sun, turning they saw Terragon running behind them as the Grimm once again tried to attack, only to be hit into the water as Terragon held a hand out, landing on the palm Kolbe made a Minigun form in his hands.

Landing on the palm of Terragon Blake, Sun and Kolbe stared at the grimm as it prepared for another lighting strike before the ship skewered it with the front, making the Grimm hiss as the main cannon was aimed.

Firing at point blank the Sea Dragon went limp as its body began to disintegrate.

"Whoo, Up top" Sun cheered with Blake turning to him, seeing this he closed his eyes as she slapped him, making Kolbe wince as his hand instinctively moved up to his cheek.

Looking to Terragon he spoke.

"What about the others, Fuyu I understand and all but, where are they?"

"Waiting for the call, we are still connected, but we now have a life of our own now" Terragon said with Kolbe sighing, nodding he thanked the giant as they were held over the Deck, landing the Giant nodded before his eyes lost their glow, followed by him crumbling into the ocean.

Turning the three were given cheers from the passengers.

Making Kolbe smile as Blake leaned against him.

An hour later

"Wait, so you think we're going a two person army against the White Fang, leaving Vale to the others?" Blake questioned as Kolbe sat down with his arms crossed with a look of amusement towards Sun.

"Well, yeah I thought that was happening, but when you said you were going home… I kind of take back my supposed plan to help you two?"

"It is appreciated Sun, but we're not gonna be at Menagerie long, possibly half a month tops, Yang's still in Vale remember" Kolbe said with the Monkey Faunus sighing.

"Great, just my luck" Sun said before Kolbe spoke.

"it's alright Sun, I don't mind the company when Blake leaves me somewhere"

"Hey" turning to Kolbe the cat Faunus stared at his teasing smile, making her turn away with her cheeks reddening, making him laugh with Sun.

"Well, at least that saves me from asking to tag along" Sun said a she made a Peace sign with a bright smile, making Kolbe snort withheld laughter at how hilarious he looked.

The next day

Standing up from a bed given to them, Kolbe let out a Yawn as Blake pulled the blanket onto her form, leaving Kolbe in the room with Sun snoring on a couch the teen smiled as he stood up with his scroll beeping, signifying a message received.

Lifting it up he smiled as a picture of yang with a Prosthetic came up with a smile, making him look to the following message he smiled further.

'Don't wait up' Kolbe read with a smile spreading onto his lips before the ships horns blew loudly, making Kolbe turn to see Blake grumbling in her sleep, making him move to nudge her shoulder to wake her up, making her groan "Five more minutes" as Sun yawned while he woke up.

Seeing Kolbe sitting on the bed the two shared a smile.

"Blake, if you don't wake up the Tuna sandwiches will be out" blinking as her form vanished he was on the ground suddenly with a fully dressed Blake straddling him.

"Where's the Tuna?" laughing loudly at seeing Kolbe's state the two turned to see Sun on the ground hitting it during his laughter fit before the chiming of a bell was heard outside, making Blake and Sun look up before Kolbe stood up.

Making Blake blush as she stood up, looking to his chest he shrugged with clothing forming n his person, leaving him in a Black shirt with no sleeves and a pair of black cargo shorts with his shoes.

Walking out of the room with Blake and Sun, the three followed the crowd of passengers onto the deck, with Kolbe and Sun looking to the docks to see Faunus everywhere, mingling with humans at shopping carts, stalls and such, looking to the flags of colours Kolbe smiled as he followed Blake with Sun to the ladder to the docks.

"I've never seen so many faunus in one place" Sun said as they followed Blake through the small part of the village, with Kolbe seeing a Vendor smile at him, making him smile back as Blake spoke.

"This is the one place everyone can feel safe… no matter who or what they are" Blake said as Kolbe joined her side, placing a hand on her right shoulder in comfort.

Stopping to take in the sight of the many people here Sun spoke.

"Sure is uh, Crowded, huh?" Sun questioned with Blake's ears lowering sadly.

"Yes, yes it is" Blake said as she walked onward, leaving Kolbe to look around before following the two, seeing the shopping district turn to a bungalow plaza, with Blake and Sun walking in silence.

"Is it always so… cramped?"

"I don't feel cramped" Kolbe muttered as he walked through a tight squeeze by flowing through with his ash, reforming himself beside Blake who gave him an odd look as Faunus gave him curious looks, turning to Sun she spoke.

"Well, when you take an entire species and put them on an island that's two thirds desert. Yeah, it tends to be cramped" Blake said as Kolbe gave a saddened look as he looked to the sides to see two child Faunus playing.

"What, you guys have that much more space and not use it, Why waste it?" Sun said as he moved in front of Blake as they continued walking.

"A little desert never hurt anyone?"

"It's not like the desert in Vacuo, Sun. The wild life here are more dangerous then most regions." Blake said as they continued walking.

"So, they gave us a terrible island, in the corner of remnant, to try and shut us up" Sun said with Kolbe having a look of thought as Blake replied to him.

"Yeah, that pretty much sums it up" Blake said as they began to make a trek up a stairs up to the hill.

"We tried to make the best of things… " Blake said as they made it to the top, with Kolbe's eyes widening in awe at the village.

"This is Kuokoana" Blake said as Kolbe muttered a word.

"Beautiful"

"Definitely, I take it all back. This place looks great! Why would anyone ever want to leave?" Sun questioned with Kolbe giving him a look.

"That's not the point, Sun! We asked to be equal, to be treated just like everyone else! Instead, we were given an island and told to make do. So we did the best we could. We came together and we made a home where any Faunus could feel welcome. But this island, this town, will always be a reminder that we're still not equal. That we're still second-class citizens" Blake said before Kolbe spoke.

"A sad truth I guess" Kolbe said

"Well, hey, this guy's feeling pretty at home." Sun said while gesturing to himself with his thumbs.

"Well, Blake, where to now?" Kolbe questioned as he looked to the rooftops.

"Home" the Cat Faunus said before Sun leant on her shoulders with a smile.

"Oh yeah? So Which one's yours? Can you see it from here?" looking at the building with a hand above his eyes Kolbe formed a pair of binoculars to look through.

"Kind of" Blake said as she stared forward.

"Is it that one?" Sun said as he pointed to his right, with Kolbe looking away from his binoculars, seeing Sun pointing across Blake.

"What about that tiny one down there. I like the paintjob." Seeing Blake take his hand from her face she pointed it forward, with Kolbe looking forward to stare at the large house at the bottom of the Hill.

"It's that one" looking to Kolbe who was looking through his binoculars she watched them fall from his grip while Sun held his head with a comical amazed sound.

"Okay, it's official, I love you" Kolbe said with Blake laughing softly as she began walking to the building, with Kolbe following closely as Sun laid back.

Making it to the stairs to the building, Kolbe and Blake spoke.

"So, you ready?" Blake questioned with Kolbe smiling.

"Oh what's the big surprise gonna be, I'm sure your mother is the splitting image of you… just older" Kolbe said as the three walked up the steps,

Reaching for the door knocker Blake stops in hesitation before Kolbe placed a hand on her shoulder reassuringly.

Inhaling slightly Blake let it out slowly before grabbing the knocker, hitting it once Kolbe looked up with Sun who took a step back.

"Why do I have the distinct feeling I'm approaching a boss fight?" Kolbe questioned as he stepped back away from the door with Blake.

"Ditto" Sun said as he looked around before looking forward as the door opened, making Kolbe frown at seeing a small tender hand, followed by a woman's head with cat ears lean out to see Blake, seeing the woman's eyes widen as her ears stood up she stepped fully into view.

"Blake…?" the woman questioned as Kolbe felt a thought of recognition towards her.

"Hi… Mom" Blake said awkwardly with a raised hand before she blinked as her mother embraced her softly, making Kolbe smile slightly before looking down to the ground, placing a hand on his right hip.

"My baby girl." The woman said with Blake returning the embrace, as Kolbe finally took it the older faunus' attire.

She like blake was of course a Faunus, with blacke hair and yellow eyes she wore a black hakama and sandals with white tabi socks. Over her outfit, she wore a black shrug with a long right sleeve and a short left sleeve with gold leaf trim along the opening on the front. On both arms, she had long, black arm warmers that extend to the middle finger. The left one baring a purple band tied around the top and a pair of gold bangles around the wrist. Around her waist is a black and gold sash that trails behind her, with a gold flower-shaped buckle at the end.

"Not what I was expecting" Sun whispered to Kolbe who gave him a look to be quiet… for the moment.

"Kali, who is it!?" a voice from the home spoke loudly with heavy footsteps approaching.

"The boss fight feeling is back?" Kolbe said urgently as he turned to the open door for his eyes to widen at the man who had black hair a beard and yellow eyes like Blake and her mother.

He wore an open dark violet coat with white fur trim, exposing his hairy chest. Over his beige pants is a matching sash that wrapped around his waist and is secured with a large, silver metal buckle. On the shoulder of his coat is a silver metal spaulder, which through a pair of curved strips across the chest attaches as a clasp on the opposite front panel of the coat. The white toes of his black leather boots have a shape reminiscent of paws with claws at the tips.

Looking to Blake his eyes showed surprise at seeing Blake.

Making Kolbe smile to Blake as the man smiled fondly, making Blake smile to Kolbe who tipped an imaginary hat to her while Sun smiled brightly.

Sitting down at a coffee table, Kolbe took an offered cup with a polite nod from Kali Belladonna as he sat beside Blake while Sun sat calmly.

"We were horrified when we heard the news. The Kingdom of Vale isn't perfect, but it certainly didn't deserve what happened. Oh, we were both so worried. It's good to see the damage wasn't long term though" Kali said with Kolbe feeling pride in himself as he took a drink calmly as Ghira Belladonna chuckled.

"Please, I knew she'd be fine" Ghira said as Kali scoffed lightly as she turned to Blake.

"That isn't the slightest bit true, you should have seen him pacing." Kali said while looking to Blake, making Kolbe hide a smile as he drank.

"You guys have nothing to worry about. I've seen your daughter in action before! And trust me, she's got some moves!" the following reaction was of Kolbe spitting the liquid onto the Monkey Faunus' face while Blake's mind registered what was said while Kolbe coughed before speaking.

"Sun!" Kolbe growled with the Monkey Faunus flinching as Blake gave him a look.

"And what exactly do you mean by that, Mr Wukong?" Ghira questioned as Sun froze.

"It was nice knowing you Sun" Kolbe said with a quick salute.

"I… uh, well, you see sir, it's just that, you know, that she's such a good fighter and all, uh, and as a fellow fighter, I have a lot of respect for her..." Sun said as Kolbe watched him dig his grave further, failing to notice Kali speaking to Blake.

"Why is he here again?" Kali questioned as Blake sighed.

"He… kind of followed us here" Blake said as Kolbe continued to watch Sun dig further.

"I see." Kali said before looking to Kolbe.

"slightly, I mean she's definitely above average. I mean, uh…"

"Are you done digging your own grave Sun?" Kolbe questioned with the two turning to him.

"Hey, why didn't you help me?"

"You got yourself into this" Kolbe said with a shrug, making Sun gawk before he smiled evilly.

"Well at least I don't have to deal with what you and Blake have to say" Sun said with the two freezing as kali and Ghira looked to the two with Blake Blushing while Kolbe slammed his face into the table.
