Emma was sitting in her sheriff's office, studying over the paperwork in front of her. That was the thing about the threats when tehy were gone, they left a ton of damage that Emma spent months trying to fix.
Just in time for the newest threat to bury her in damages and paperwork again.
She needed an assistant.
A paper bag was put in front of her, Emma smiled when she smelled the grilled cheese and onion rings. It was enough to make her mouth water. When she was a little girl there was a diner that made the most perfect lunch. Granny's wasn't perfect but it was the closest thing.
Or maybe she was just remembering it better than what it was.
Emma doubted it. She wanted ot think everything she remembered that was good in her childhood was exactly that.
"Working hard?" Killian smirked and ran a hand through her hair.
"Hardly working, these words keep making my head spin."
"Why should a magical town need paperwork anyway?"
"Red tape makes the world go round," Emma looked up and gave him a smile, her heart raced as she felt love and desire filling her chest. Did she REALLY need to do the paperwork tonight?
"Hi," He bent down to kiss her, "Mrs. Jones."
And Emma woke up with a jolt and a gasp. She looked around her familiar room for reassurance that the dream she had was just that, a dream.
She saw the silken clad back of her husband next to her. He usually slept spooning her but sometime in the night he'd turned away.
Her dream felt so real, and Emma was shaking. Why, she didn't know, it wasn't like she was cheating on her husband.
Then why did it feel like she was just by having a dream?
Emma sighed and lay back down, staring at the ceiling.
The wives were allowed to take other lovers, it was only fair since nothing stopped Rumple from collecting wives. But Hook? Her husband's enemy? Emma may have felt something for him a long time ago but she wasn't that person anymore. She was married to a husband and four other wives. She didn't need to stray outside her marriage.
Or what if Hook was right? What if they HAD done something and this wasn't her world? What if all these feelings she'd been feeling was because this was all a lie and she was married to him instead?
No, it was just late. Emma's brain was being weird. She was putting too much into a dream.
Emma had her husband for the night and Killian Jones was just on her mind because of the book and that haunting fear she might lose all this again.
That was all.
Emma went to spoon behind her husband. She felt him awaken enough to clasp her hands and settle back to sleep.
Emma buried her face in his back, she couldn't lose this. They weren't fighting. They were all a unit. Henry had stability in his life….this was SAFE.
Henry was finally safe.
She couldn't give that up.

Regina knew when Maleficent couldn't sleep. Sure Maleficent faked it; she closed her eyes, she regulated her breathing but somehow Regina always knew.
Regina herself could not sleep. Henry was at his father's house again. He was spending a lot of time there. Regina would have to talk to her husband and Emma about it. What if he wanted to move there and leave them all alone?
"I can feel you tossing and turning," Maleficent grumbled.
"I can't help it," Regina snapped.
"This is why I used to make you sleep alone," she snarled and turned over.
"What's wrong with YOU?" Regina demanded, "If you want me to leave, all you have to do is ask."
"Nothing's wrong wth me. I just want to sleep sometime tonight."
"Like lack of sleep has ever had an effect on YOU," Regina turned and looked at her, "Tell me, what's up?
A few moments of silence passed, "Lily's birthday is next week and she hasn't said anything."
"Maybe it's just slipped her mind."
"I thought maybe as much too, but then it occurred to me that maybe she doesn't even know. I mean why should she? Cruella and Ursula abandoned her, how does SHE know what her birthday is. Maybe her birthday even brings about bad memories."
"Oh Mal, maybe it's…not so bad."
"It's just moments like this when I'm laying here and I realize that….I've missed everything. It never fades, it always hits me and it always hurts. I'll never have those moments with my daughter that I wanted. I never got to see her walk or talk, or go to school, or learn from me. IT's all too late to have those moments."
"You can make more."
"Regina, she doesn't even know when her own BIRTHDAY is," Mal whispered and started sobbing. It wasn't the first time, it wouldn't be the last. This guilt came in on her like waves when they lay there at night. Regina could only imagine what it was like when she was alone.
So she comforted her, and she knew she wasn't guiltless in taking a child away from it's parent until they were grown.
She wouldn't think about that now, she would think about that tomorrow.

When Cruella came downstair for her embarrassing midnight snack of milk and cookies, she sensed that someone was down there. It couldn't be an intruder or everyone's magic they used to keep this house safe would be going insane right now.
So she turned on the light and her eyes settled on Emma who blinked hard at the light, "Dammit Cruella!"
"You have a room if you want to sit in darkness, you know."
'I don't want to wake up, Rumple."
Well now how was Cruella supposed to get her snack? If Emma saw that, she'd never let her live it down.
So she went to get some milk instead. Milk wasn't so embarrassing by itself.
"I can't sleep," Emma muttered.
Cruella didn't ask. She just wanted to get something to drink. But something was itching at her that she forgot. SHe'd meant to tell Emma something and she'd forgotten. She tried to trace back the memory.
Something about Ursula. OH! Now she remembered.
She turned to Emma, "Ursula has informed me that Killian's back in town."
Emma looked up sharply, "What?!"
"Huh," Cruella shook her head, "Lucky I remembered that. I never would've called it being THAT I forgot."
