Soooooo darlings, here's the second chapter I promised you today. And gosh, it was such torture having to write this one, because I just couldn't bring myself to care AT ALL about Malekith and his goal. Malekith was such a weak and empty villain, that the moment Loki was out of the picture, I just didn't care about the climax of the movie. And it's so hard to write a scene, when you can't put any feelings into it because it just doesn't stir any feelings in you.

So I must apologize if this chapter (and possibly the previous one) seem less good than what I got you guys used to in the course of this story. I tried my best, I wracked my brain for hours to find ways to improve it, and this is the end result... I literally could not find any way to make it better than it is in its current form. If I could avoid it, I wouldn't have even uploaded this chapter - yes, I am THAT ashamed of its crappy quality - but I had to somehow get through the climax of the movie, because it is inevitably linked into the story.

But starting next chapter, we go on to the final arc in this story, so look forward to good writing again ;)

Don't forget to leave me a little review and tell me how disappointed you were with these two chapters xD

Now enjoy, darlings~ (as much as you can enjoy it)

P.S. Every Thor/The Avengers/Thor: The Dark World character belongs to the wonderful Marvel. I own nothing, except my OCs :)

Entry #36

"Don't leave me alone..."

So guilty... Thor felt so guilty when he looked over to Jane's teary expression, knowing that he still had his loved one with him. And each whispered plea mingled with sobs, that he could hear from Kara as she now cried with her face hidden against Loki's neck, felt like a nail being hammered into his very soul. No matter how he gritted his teeth, or clenched his fists, he couldn't get a grip on his tears because of that; she didn't deserve this... she was such a kind and caring woman, and fate had somehow decided that she had to endure so much pain and grief for it.

Raising his blurry gaze to the dark sky, in an attempt to get a hold of himself, he could only hope that Loki was now reunited with their mother somewhere. Ultimately he moved to his feet and retrieved Mjölnir... they had to find some shelter before the storm caught up with them, but how could he bring himself to tear Kara away from his brother? But he had to; he couldn't just leave her there.

"Kara... we must go..." he said as gently as he could, reaching out to set a hand onto her shoulder.

To his great surprise, she put up no shred of resistance when he grasped her arms and pulled her to her feet; but when she raised her head, the Thunder God felt his very core cringing at the sight of her empty gaze and the dark marks on her face – where the dust had turned black upon mixing with her tears – that made her look like a hollowed specter, rather than a human being. Glancing to Jane's expression which conveyed the scientist's own awe and concern, he then wrapped an arm around the young agent's shoulders and gently nudged her to walk with him.

By the time they finally found a cave to take shelter in, the storm had caught up with them and Jane was now clinging to Thor as he was the only one sturdy enough to not be knocked down by the powerful winds swirling around them, while the Æsir kept a tight grasp on Kara as the chocolate haired female seemed to have given up any form of will or awareness. But ultimately he managed to lead both women into the cave where he set Kara to sit while Jane rushed to her side.

"He's going to unleash it..." she finally said, while using her dress to wipe Kara's face clean. "Not just on Asgard or on a star... Malekith is going to destroy everything."

"How?" Thor perked up. "Jane, how?"

"I saw him on Earth... why would he go to Earth?"

"The Convergence..."

"None of this would have happened if I hadn't found the Aether."

"It's not your fault, Jane..." Kara finally stated, startling both her and the blond Æsir.

"Oh my God, are you alright?"

Nodding in the face of the young scientist's concern, Kara merely used the wall as leverage to drag herself to her feet.

"I'm fine..."

Damn it, even her tone sounded weird, but she couldn't let the others see that all she wanted was to go back to where they had left Loki, lie down next to him and die. What's more, she had to inform S.H.I.E.L.D. somehow about this new threat toward Earth. With Thor now attempting to soothe Jane's worries, Kara turned her back to them with the intention of moving closer to the cave's entrance for some air, when the sound of music nearly startled her out of her boots.

"It's not me..." Thor said in the face of Jane's weird expression.

"Isn't that your ringtone, Jane?" Kara asked, trying to recall why she even knew that song to begin with.

Ultimately the female realized that the reason she was even getting service there was because another portal had opened toward Earth, and surely enough the trio soon ended up back in London, at the abandoned warehouse where Jane had first gone to investigate that phenomenon.

"I'm going to see Nick and let him know what's going on." Kara said once they were out in the chilly night air. "Jane, call me when you know where he's gonna be."

"Alright, but... are you sure you're okay?"

"No..." she sighed. "But right now we have more important things to worry about, than my broken heart. Just call me when you have any information."

Without waiting for another reply, she took a deep breath to settle down her mind and shot up into the starry sky, once again taking out her phone and dialing a particular number.

"Good evening, Miss Taylor."

"J, I need to talk to Fury... now. I don't have time to get to the Helicarrier, just patch me through, please."

"Right away."

A few moments of silence followed until the familiar voice at the other end of the line nearly made her lose the frail grasp she had on her tears.

"How the hell could you vanish like that, without a word? Do you know how worried I was?"

"Nick, we have bigger problems right now..."

"Loki again?"

A shaky breath left her at the mention of that name, but she clenched her jaw and quickly regained her wits.

"It's not him... it's something else..."

"Where are you?"

"Somewhere above London."

With silence following her words for a few moments, the young woman halted in midair realizing what Fury was trying to do.

"I got you on radar... we're about 50 kilometers south of you. Now get in here; I expect a detailed report."

"Got it, boss..." she retorted, unable to fully withhold a smile.

OoOoO

It was already morning by the time Kara had finished explaining what she knew so far about Malekith and the Convergence. Jane had also called her while she was in Fury's office, to let her know that whatever Malekith was planning would happen at Greenwich. And where was she now...?

Now she was angrily storming off toward the nearest exit, with Fury in tow; to think those idiots in the Council had actually denied Fury's request to offer any aid to Thor. How could they not understand the gravity of the events to come?

"Kara, it's out of our hands."

"Forget it, Nick... if they're too stupid to see that the end of the world is coming, I'm going to help Thor and Jane myself."

"Kara!"

Suddenly stopping in her stride and turning to face him, the young woman scowled.

"Will you let me go, or do I have to resign?"

When the Director heaved a sigh and lowered his face into his hands, she knew she'd already won that battle.

"I'll see if I can alert the British Government in time." he finally replied. "Be careful..."

"I will."

Without another word she once again left the Helicarrier; by the time she flew over Greenwich, however, it seemed Malekith had already arrived. He and Thor were battling – or at least trying to, given that the effects of the Convergence which was unfolding before her very eyes caused too many special distortions around them. While she was still assessing the situation, two airplanes from the Royal Air Force whizzed past her, but the missiles they fired at Malekith's ship got sucked into the large portal which now connected Earth to Vanaheim, and soon the planes too disappeared through it.

"So much for the British Government..." she sighed.

Once more she glanced over the battlefield; how? How could she help Thor, when she didn't even know where he was anymore? Ultimately she decided that staying off the ground wasn't the best tactic, thus she moved to land near the ship.

"Kara!"

Recognizing Jane's voice, the young agent glanced around until she spotted the female scientist along with Erik, taking cover in between the columns of the library nearby.

"Oh, thank God you're here... is S.H.I.E.L.D. here? I need some equipment..."

"S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't coming..." Kara replied, seeing Jane deflate at her words. "The Council refused to get involved in this. All Nick could do was notify the Government, but his hands are tied."

"Well that's just great! I need them just once and they're nowhere to be found." Jane frowned.

"Can't argue with you there... but I'm here, and I'll help you as much as I can. Just tell me what you need."

"Well unless you can conjure some equipment out of thin air, I don't know if there's much you can do. I don't even know where Thor is anymore, with all these portals that keep opening up all over the place..."

Looking to Erik who had been about to talk, she shook her head.

"No, it's not because of the ones I opened... these have to be natural portals that appear during the Convergence."

With two Elves rushing at the trio, ready to fire, Kara moved to face them in combat only to be startled out of her skin when what looked like a steel bullet whizzed past her, knocking the masked warriors away in the process.

"Was that Mjölnir?" she asked in the wake of Jane's surprised yell.

Glancing around in the hopes of spotting Thor anywhere nearby, she ushered the two scientists away from the scene as more and more Elves flooded the area to surround them.

"Get to shelter... I'll try to find Thor."

Upon getting out in the open, however, her focus was drawn to a lone figure walking toward the ship. Realizing it was Malekith, and looking up to see the portals to the other realms coming together above them, she rushed after him only to come to a very abrupt halt when Thor suddenly crossed her path, causing her collide with him from behind.

"Damn it, Thor..." she complained, rubbing her nose.

"Are you hurt?" he replied, reaching down and grabbing her hand to pull her up.

"I'm okay... you almost broke my nose."

"Thor! We're too late..."

Looking to Jane upon hearing her voice, the young agent lightly shook her head to clear off the faint dizziness left in the wake of her latest not-so-pleasant encounter with the Thunder God.

"The Convergence is at its peak." Erik agreed.

"Can those things stop him?" Thor asked, glancing to the gravimetrical rods in Erik's arms.

"We can't get close enough."

Retrieving the rods, the blond Æsir nodded.

"I can... Kara, will you look after them?"

With Malekith having released the Aether which now engulfed the ship in a crimson vortex, gradually extending its tendrils into all the other realms, Thor rushed right into the storm while the young agent now stood in between the two scientists and the madness before them, acting as a shield.

"Be safe..." she whispered in his wake, her expression conveying her concern for the Thunder God.

It took a bit, but finally Thor sighted the Dark Elf leader amidst the raging energy whirlwind surrounding them.

"Malekith!"

"Darkness returns, Asgardian. Have you come to witness the end of your universe?"

"I've come to accept your surrender."

His first attempt to throw one of the rods at Malekith ended when the Elf grabbed it in midair, only to have his forearm disappear when Jane activated the gear and opened a portal. The second rod impaled Malekith's left shoulder, taking his entire arm with it.

"You think you can stop this?" he growled. "The Aether cannot be destroyed."

"But you can." Thor retorted.

Summoning Mjölnir, he lunged at Malekith and hammered the last rod into the Elf's chest, pinning him to the side of his ship just before a portal engulfed him entirely, along with part of the vessel. With him gone, the Aether also vanished and the energy died out leaving behind an unconscious Thor.

Location: London, U.K. / the Royal Palace, Asgard

Date: September 21 / 22, 2013

"Thor..."

Almost visibly cringing at the hollowed tone in her voice, the blond Æsir turned to see Kara approaching him as he stood on the balcony of Jane's house, looking out over the city.

"Are you well?" he asked.

"Everybody keeps asking that... I'm grateful for all the concern, but how can I ever be well without him?"

When he set an arm around her shoulders, drawing her attention to him, she forced a smile on her lips; everyone had done all in their power throughout those days to get her in better spirits, and she truly appreciated all the care they showed her.

"You look good in Midgardian clothes." she said, trying to divert the subject before he got the idea of talking about Loki again.

His amused huff was the only response she got, and the following minutes both of them just stood there in silence, watching the darkening evening sky.

"So what will you do now?" she finally asked.

"I have to go speak to father; all I want is to stay here... it's weird how losing people you love can put things into perspective. But I know that the life I want is here, not on Asgard."

"Can I come with you?"

Looking to the young woman at that inquiry, the Thunder God frowned in confusion.

"I want to see the place Loki called home... one last time..."

OoOoO

"Welcome home, my prince."

Offering a brief smile to the Gatekeeper, Thor then led Kara out of the Bifrost keep and ultimately to the palace.

"Do you wish to rest while I speak to father?"

"I'll go with you... you shouldn't be alone when telling him that his son is dead."

Nodding lightly with a warm smile, Thor beckoned her to follow; now that he was back, the atmosphere in the palace felt so heavy and suffocating. And the memories of his mother and brother were so ingrained into the very walls, that with each corner he turned as he led the way to the throne room, he expected to see them walking down the corridor. That was another reason why he knew he could not endure to live in that place any longer... he would lose his sanity there.

Upon entering the throne room, the elder king raised his gaze to them; and it took all Loki had to maintain his composure, as he sighted the young woman walking behind his brother, lest his magic backfired and exposed him.

"Father, I bring grave news..."

"I know about Loki..." the fake Allfather replied, and to his credit his tone sounded genuinely mourning. "But I am happy to see you alive and unharmed."

With Thor placing a knee to the floor, while Kara stood silently to the side, Odin now went silent while the Thunder God told him everything that had happened on Svartalfheim and on Midgard, before speaking again.

"You said there would never be a wiser king than me. You were wrong... the Alignment has brought all the realms together. All of them saw you ready to offer your life to save them. What can Asgard offer its new king in return?"

"My life..." Thor replied, moving to stand. "Father, I cannot be king of Asgard. I will protect Asgard and all the realms with my last and every breath, but I cannot do so from that chair. Loki, for all his grave imbalance, understood rule as I know I never will. The brutality, the sacrifice... it changes you. I'd rather be a good man than a great king."

"Is this my son I hear... or the woman he loves?"

"When you speak, do I never hear mother's voice?"

When Odin sighed and lowered his gaze whilst seating himself on the throne, Thor spoke again.

"This is not for Jane, father. She does not know what I came here to say. Now forbid me to see her, or say she can rule at my side, it changes nothing."

"One son who wanted the throne too much... another who will not take it. Is this my legacy?"

"Loki died with honor; I shall try to live the same... is that not legacy enough?"

When he extended his arm to offer Mjölnir back to his father, the elder king shook his head.

"It belongs to you... if you are worthy of it."

"I shall try to be."

"I cannot give you my blessing, nor can I wish you good fortune."

"I know."

"If I were proud of the man my son had become... even that I could not say. It would speak only from my heart. Go... my son."

Sooo today's replies for my darlings :D

1. SuperNaturalxxFreak - Oooh I'm so glad to hear you might be getting back into writing as well. I'm always excited to read what you come up with, so I'm totally looking forward to that.

As for talking, to be honest I haven't even checked my email in a while; I imagine I'll have a few hundred messages clogging my inbox (sounds like fun, right? xD). But I'll get to emptying it these days and hopefully we can have a long chat, I really miss talking to you, love.

2. Moriah98 - Aww no worries, nothing too bad happened, darling. I missed all of my lovely readers too :)

Hehehe Loki is very happy to hear you miss him and Kara, and he promises you'll get more of them in the next chapters ;)

I just hope you weren't too disappointed with the low quality in these two chapters, but that's the problem with fanfiction - you can only write as much as you care about the characters in your story... and I just couldn't care about Malekith no matter how much I tried. Even though he was supposed to be the villain in this movie, he was so bland and had no reasoning behind his actions, that Loki naturally fell into place as the main antagonist once again.

In turn, that also made me unable to write Loki's "death" as well as I could have written it; because it's so hard to switch properly between a character you don't give a damn about, and one you absolutely love and enjoy writing. So I apologize again for the crappy quality, but I promise the next chapters are much better written :D

3. americanlatinajapanesegirl - Yes, she did make a deal with Odin, but she also did flee Asgard with Loki and the others, so Odin can't really punish her... at least not yet :P And if you recall the end of the movie, in the very last scene we get Loki in Odin's place, in disguise, so I think it's safe to assume that there's no threat on her life in that regard ;)

4. Guest - Haha well he IS Loki... he is a manipulative bastard more often than not. And he uses everyone, why would Kara be anything special? ;P

But joke aside, we all know Loki is arrogant and a tad on the selfish side; this story is meant to show the journey he undertakes to mature as well, it's not just Kara's journey. So don't worry, he'll sort of... grow out of it eventually - at least where Kara is concerned.

5. Guest - I'm guessing you're the same person who I replied to above, but I won't assume, so you get your own reply. Uhmmm... I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to... there's a lot of hypocrisy in that chapter xD

A bit of expansion on your review would help, but still I'm glad you took the time to read so far and review. Hope to hear from you again soon :D

6. Uncontrollable-book-nerd - Aww I wish I had some way to change that, because I hated that scene even if I knew that in the end Loki doesn't really die... but knowing that, changing that scene seemed a bit pointless. So I decided to leave it as it was in the movie (well, with the obvious required changes to include Kara).

But I'm so happy to see familiar faces again, I've really missed talking to everyone. So thank you for the review and for your excitement, darling, it got me all bubbly inside :D

7. Miss Pibbles - Thank you so much for the kind words, darling. I hope you'll enjoy the zig-zagging story I wrote so far. If you have the time, I would love to hear what you think of it; also if you have any questions or anything seems a bit unclear in the course of the story, you're very welcome to ask, I'll gladly reply :D

So these are my replies for today. Cheers, lovelies~ ( ˘ ³˘)❤
