Hello again! I have nothing to say for this chapter. It has a little GonXMana moments. I know, I know...you guys don't really prefer triangle love. But don't you worry! Sooner or later Killua will realise his feelings! For now let's just keep them at that...enjoy!
Part 37: Gon's Proof
It has been two weeks after Killua and Gon started learning Ryu and also, the incident that had befallen Mana. The girl didn't train much but she did all the cooking for them while Bisky watched over the two boys. The two boys had made a lot of progress. Mana knew that it was almost time for their last stage.
"It appears you two are ready for the final stage," the blonde said to them.
She glanced up at Mana who was busy peeling some potatoes that the boys bought the day before. She called out to the scarlet haired.
"Is there something you need?" the girl asked, walking up to them.
Bisky smiled to her before turning to the boys. She said, "But first, each one of you has to fight one-on-one with her."
Mana, Killua and Gon were stunned at Bisky's condition. They stared at each other. The boys were worried that she might let them win on purpose.
"Can you explain why?" Killua requested.
Mana didn't say anything. She looked down on the ground.
"I d-don't mind I guess. I c-can do it…" she interrupted.
"Are you sure?" Gon asked.
"She is a lot stronger than you think. I know that," Bisky said proudly.
Gon and Killua turned to each other. They were concerned about her condition. Why was she willing to do so? Gon suddenly nodded as a sign that he would go first. He stepped forward and faced Mana. Killua and Bisky stepped back to watch.
"I won't go easy on you," the black haired said.
Smiling, the girl nodded. She replied, "Come at me with all you got."
"The rules are simple; you cannot use any of your abilities. You can only apply only Ryu…" Bisky explained.
Getting into their battle stance, they nodded. Bisky signed for them to start and Gon charged in with a punch, applying Ryu on his fist. As if knowing that the punch was a strong one, Mana jumped back. She aimed a kick at him but Gon blocked it. He charged in again. Mana backed away. Gon stood up straight and that was when Mana delivered a perfect kick in his stomach. It sent him flying but the boy regained his balance. His eyes were shining, showing that he was excited. The girl grinned at his reaction. Before she knew it, he was right in front of her, she didn't have enough time to dodge his punch, but she fully blocked it with giving out all her aura to her elbow. They kept up the fight for another ten minutes.
Meanwhile, Killua and Bisky weren't really watching.
"Why exactly did you do this?" Killua demanded for a vivid explanation.
Bisky chuckled and started her explanation, "I just thought she should get her thoughts off of what she was thinking. It is obvious that you two cherish her very much."
Killua faintly blushed at Bisky's remark. He crossed his arms in front of him.
"That's because she's Gon's girlfriend!" he abruptly replied.
"Yes, I know. I'm sure you appreciate her too, right?" the blonde smirked when Killua blushed harder than ever.
The fight ended up with Gon's victory. Bisky scolded Mana for being too soft on him when she was supposed to give all that she got. It was very surprising to the boys that Mana could do better than that because Gon was nearly out of breath even though he ended up winning.
"Next is Killua versus Mana," Bisky announced.
Killua observed the girl's condition. She was a bit sweaty but there was not much bruises. She smiled to him and nodded.
"I think you should take a rest for now," he spoke up.
"Huh? I can still have one more go," the girl insisted.
"Hmm…" the blonde stared at the silver haired and then, at the scarlet haired.
She sighed because she had to agree with Killua. She decided to let them enter the final stage: training in their individual categories. So, Killua didn't have to fight Mana. The girl stood beside Bisky as the blonde started her explanation.
"You're free to train solely in your own category. In the case of an Enhancer, you'd want to focus on your Enhancer skills while training the nearby categories of Transmuter and Emitter in a balanced fashion," Bisky explained.
"Oh! That way, you'll be mastering your own category in no time!" Mana continued, earning a nod from Bisky.
Gon and Killua stared hard at the girl. Mana tilted her head as if asking what was wrong.
Gon was the one who asked, "Come to think of it, are you really a Specialist?"
Mana smiled at the question. She shook her head and replied, "No. I'm just like Killua, even though Hisoka's analysis of Nen ability doesn't match mine. I'm a Transmuter."
"Really?!" the boys asked in unison.
The scarlet haired giggled as she nodded. "Yes, I can transmute wind and turn them into tornado and blizzard. You once watched me in Heavens Arena, right? I used mostly tornado to push away my opponent or delay their actions…" she explained.
Looking at the girl, Bisky asked, "Then, you trained to become a Specialist?"
"Yeah…I trained in Conjurer and Enhancer ability too. I love to conjure whips and enhance my arms mostly. I always do that. Once I was ready, Mother taught me how to emit my aura," the girl explained.
"Your mother is a Specialist?" Killua asked, curious.
Looking at the ground, Mana nodded and muttered, "She trained just like me…but she mostly use enhancement to heal people. That's why people called her a healer…"
"You aimed to become like her?" Bisky asked.
"Yes…at first…but she didn't teach me much. When I was taken in by Grandpa, he bought me some books on how to train and become a Specialist. It was rather hard to just refer books though…" Mana replied, turning to look at the two boys, "But then, I thought I must grow stronger if I want to stay by your sides…so, my trainings paid off now."
Gon and Killua were surprised at her determination. Bisky changed the subject by saying that they should begin their training. She told them that they would be training in the Enhancer category that day. Upon saying that, she took a rock. She demonstrated what they were to do by enhancing the rock she was holding and smashing it with another rock.
"Smash a thousand rocks with a single one in a day, and you clear the level. Well, begin!" she said.
The two started to do as they were told. Mana went back to peeling the potatoes. She was relieved to have told them the truth of her Nen ability. She just felt like she was closer to them. As she was done with the peeling, she heard Gon smashing a big rock. He was explaining how he would apply 'Rock-Paper-Scissors' as one of his techniques. Then, Killua showed how much he could do in transmuting electricity. Mana smiled at them form where she was sitting.
Suddenly, three people landed in front of her, scattering all the potatoes and the utensils she was about to use.
"Rock!" she shouted, backing away immediately.
"Heh…long time, no see, Mana…" Rock muttered.
Sensing that his girlfriend was in trouble, Gon rushed to her at full speed. Killua and Bisky followed too. Recognizing the scarlet hair, Bisky could guess that the one smirking was Rock.
"What do you want?" the girl asked bravely.
"After that incident, you still have the guts to stay with them?" the scarlet haired boy asked.
Mana looked down with her eyes as wide as ever. She didn't want the two to find out, but if Rock told them…she would not be able to face them anymore.
"What incident?" Gon demanded, glaring at Rock.
Bisky knew what the guy was talking about and she punched him on the face. It sent him flying onto a large rock behind him.
"If you know what is best for you, you better not say anything!" she threatened him.
Rock glared at the blonde. Then, he told the other two who were with him that they were leaving. They each left using the spell card, Leave. Killua and Gon stared at the speechless girl. Bisky was concerned at what was going to happen, so she changed the subject by saying that they should celebrate because it was almost New Year in the outside world.
"Oops! The deadline to apply for the Hunter Exam is almost up!" Gon reminded Killua.
"Hmmm…just as our training was becoming more fun…" he mumbled but he was taking glances at Mana.
"There is a spell card to leave the game, right?" Gon asked, getting nods from Bisky and Killua.
They decided to head to Masadora.
Bisky turned to Mana and asked, "Why don't you come too?"
"Huh…umm, okay…" the girl replied without looking at Bisky.
They took the shortcuts they made and reached Masadora. Upon paying 3000 Jenny for information on how to leave the game, they were told to go to the port about fifty kilometers west from Masadora. They could either bribe or defeat the chief of that port to receive a ticket that will transport them outside. So, they headed to the port. Killua obtained the Passage Ticket.
"I'll go pass the exam real quick and then, hurry back," he said to the three.
"There are monsters called Kiriko that live beneath a cedar tree on the mountain behind Dolle Harbor. If you tell them you're my friend, they'll take you to the exam area," Gon said.
"Y-You're leaving?" Mana asked.
"Yeah, I want to become a Hunter too. I'll be back real soon," the silvered haired replied, patting her head.
Gon was as usual, jealous of the situation but he could not deny that Mana was clingier to Killua than him. Killua boarded a ship. Bisky then announced that they should continue with the training. Gon turned to Mana.
He requested, "Why don't we take a rest for today…?"
Bisky observed Mana. Sighing, she replied, "It can't be helped. Let's rest for today…"
Even though she said that, along the way to the rocky areas, Bisky had Gon run while forming numbers from 0 to 9. Mana followed from behind. A man approached them in the same way as Rock had. It was the tanned man in blue attire, Abengane. The three recognized him.
"What's that machine on your shoulder? Did something happen?" Bisky asked in a childish voice.
He explained that they were fooled by the Bomber. He revealed the Bomber's secret and his abilities. It turned out that the Bomber was Genthru all along. He told them that their strongest member was defeated instantly; adding that letting the Bomber to leave the game was a fatal mistake. He asked that if it was possible, he would like Gon and his friends to avenge them. He made the three promised to not let Genthru clear the game. He also promised to tell more players about the Bomber and then, left.
They reached the rocky are late that night. After discussing what they were going to do the next day, they prepared their sleeping spots. Gon had to do the usual: holding a rope tied to a rock. The rock was already four times bigger than him. Mana could sleep whenever she wanted.
"I'm going to take a rest tonight from training you. But, I still might wake up and cut that rope, so you still have to be careful," Bisky announced and then, warned Gon.
"Osu!" Gon replied.
"Well then, good night!" the blonde beamed before leaning against a rock to sleep.
"Goodnight!" the other two replied.
"Mana…" Gon called.
The scarlet haired turned to him with a smile. "Yes?" she asked, approaching him.
With his free hand, Gon pulled Mana to sit between his legs. The girl blushed furiously. Then, he wrapped his free arm around her. It wasn't like the simple minded Gon at all.
"G-Gon…?" the girl stammered in a whisper.
He whispered to her ear, "I love you. Can I please hug you?"
"Uh…" she looked away from him.
He turned her to face him. Without a warning, Gon kissed Mana on the forehead. She was heating up out of embarrassment. Then, he proceeded to kiss her right cheek. Before she could protest, their lips met. Mana's eyes widened at the situation. She tried to pull away but he was holding her tighter. They shared a long kiss.
"G-Gon…" Mana huffed when he pulled away.
"I want to prove to you that I love you. I can't help but feel jealous whenever you cling onto Killua," he explained.
The scarlet haired gazed at her boyfriend. She didn't know that she was hurting him. She didn't mean to toy with his feelings. However, looking at Gon's state at the time, she knew what she had done. She pulled him into an embrace abruptly. Gon's head was on her chest and he could hear her heartbeats.
"I'm sorry…I like you, Gon. I want to prove that to you too. I just…don't know how…" she explained.
"Mana…" he muttered.
The next day, they headed to Masadora again. They bought some defensive spell cards. After that, they headed to a wide field in the outskirts of Masadora. Gon started his training in the Emitter category. He wanted to learn how to shoot Nen ball from his palm. For precaution, Bisky used the spell card Black Curtain to block an enemy Steal or Fluoroscopy once.
"I think you'll be able to master your category by the time Killua gets back," Mana said with a smile.
"Yeah! I can't wait to surprise Killua!" Gon replied and grinned.
"Anyway, Mana…is it okay for you just holding onto water and food supplies?" Bisky asked.
"Hmm…I don't mind at all. I like it better that way," the scarlet haired replied.
"Killua will be back tomorrow, so we'd better be near the starting point to greet him," the black haired said.
The two nodded.
Nighttime came again. They went back to the rocky area to rest. I sat beside Gon, resting her head on his shoulder. Gon was satisfied that she was close to him. He could keep an eye on her all the time. He just couldn't wait to tell Killua about it. He gazed at the sleeping girl. He could faintly hear her soft snore.
"Mana, I will never leave your side. That is how much I love you…" he swore.
Killua took the steps down the stairs at the starting point. He was greeted by only Gon and Bisky.
"Welcome back, Killua! How did the exam go?" Gon asked.
"I passed, naturally. Anyway, where's Mana?" he replied, looking around.
"She's taking a bath at the lake again," Bisky said.
"Yeah, don't worry, we told her to use some defensive spell cards to protect her from other players," Gon reassured the silver haired.
Bisky said that they should head there. She would show him the spell cards once they reached where Mana was. Mana was about done with her bath when they got there.
"Welcome back, Killua," she said, smiling, "Congratulations on passing the Hunter exam."
Faintly blushing, the silver haired replied, "Y-Yeah…go put on some clothes."
Mana blushed and nodded. She forgot that she was only wearing a towel at the time. After putting on some clothes, she sat beside Gon. They were talking about trying using most of the spell cards to know what the effects were. Killua made Gon used Contact. That was when they noticed a familiar name in Gon's binder, Chrollo Lucilfer.
"Could it be that he can use Nen again?" Gon asked.
"But, Kurapika put a Nen blade on him, right?" Killua asked back.
"Who's Chrollo? Who's Kurapika?" Bisky demanded.
Mana was about to explain but the boys pissed the blonde off so much that she ended up punching them.
"Kurapika is our friend and Chrollo is his enemy. Thus, he is our enemy too. Chrollo is the leader of the Genei Ryoudan, the famous gang of thieves and murderers if I'm not mistaken," Mana explained.
Gon nodded at her explanation. "Yeah…Kurapika put a Nen blade in his heart that prevents him from using Nen," he added.
"Is there a way to purge the Nen?" Killua muttered with his right index finger on his chin.
"Purging Nen? It's very doable," Bisky replied to his mutter.
"Really?" he asked back.
"Of course! Mana, care to explain?" the blonde turned to her.
Mana was startled when her name was called. Slowly nodding, she started her explanation, "If you can a Nen on others, it's not unreasonable to think Nen can be removed as well. One of those ways is called exorcism…"
Killua then thought that Chrollo might have removed Kurapika's Nen while Gon wondered what he was doing in the game. They reached a decision to ask Kurapika. Killua rushed to do so, saying that he could get out and be back in the game in four hours.
Once he was back, Killua confirmed that it was not the real Chrollo. Bisky interrupted, saying that they should not worry too much. Gon was all fired up to train though Bisky said that they were not going to train at all.
"Let's focus on the main goal: clearing the game!" she said with a smile.
Mana could hear the boys' stomach grumbling. She suggested that they should eat dinner and start tomorrow. Bisky couldn't agree less as she was a bit hungry herself.
"Then, Mana and I will return to the rocky area while you boys go pick the ingredients for dinner. Pick anything you like to eat," Bisky divided the task.
"Okay! We'll have a feast tonight!" Gon replied, grinning happily.
While walking back to the rocky area, Mana stared at the orange with a tint of yellow sky. It was almost sunset was what she thought. Another year had passed and a lot had happened to her.
She met Killua, Gon, Kurapika and Leorio. She found out the truth about her mother's death and about her father's reason for leaving her. She lost her virginity to someone who meant nothing to her but she ended up saving three innocent lives: Misato, Yui and Aoi. She lost her first kiss to Killua. Then, Gon confessed his love for her. At the same time, Killua seemed to be hiding something from her and was still hiding.
"Mana…" Bisky snapped her from her thoughts.
"Y-Yes?" she stuttered, turning to the blonde.
The blonde sighed. She mumbled, "You were thinking so hard just now…"
Mana blinked confusedly at her since she didn't hear what the blonde mumbled just now. After a few minutes waiting, the boys came back with a few ingredient cards. They had chosen a turkey, a loaf of beef, some bread, two fish and vegetables for flavoring.
"We hope you make the best out of our choices," Gon said to Mana.
The girl smiled to him and nodded. "I will," she replied.
Looking at how close and comfortable they were with each other, Killua knew that something must have happened when he went to take the Hunter exam. However, he would not ask a thing about it because it was for the better.
