Section Five:
Walking into the retirement home Dean instantly tensed up. An older gentlemen sporting an oxygen tank walk past, causing Dean to hug the wall and stiffly nod a hello at his friendly nodd. He cleared his throat uncomfortably.
"Come on." Sam admonished, "It's not that bad."
Dean glared, "You can't tell me this joint doesn't give you the heebs and/or jeebs."
Gia rolled her eyes, "They're a bunch of cute elderly people. Relax."
She felt admittedly better this morning. The guys didn't think her coming along was going to be a good idea at first, until Cas vouched for her. It wasn't like the last time. She wasn't having flashbacks, that was over. Now she knew her past and where she came from. Although it was a bit sticky to come to terms with.
A middle aged man sauntered up to them stiffly, "Hello. Can I help you?"
"Hi. Yeah. Agent Crosby. FBI." Dean pulled out his badge followed by the rest of them
"Sorry, I'm Dr. Dwight Mahoney. I run Sunset Fields." He cleared his throat awkwardly and tightly smiled
"We need to question your residents." Cass added from behind the boys and beside Gia
The man looked at them weirdly, "Well why? About what?"
"Grand larceny, mostly." Sam nodded
"Of course. Um, by all means, ask away." The doctor nodded, "If there's anything I can do to help, let me know."
Dean nodded back, "Appreciate it." When he left he took a deep breath trying to pump himself up, "Great. All right, let's do this." Turning to the guys he smirked, "No flirting, you two."
Splitting up Cass and Dean decided to interrogate Mrs. Tate while Sam and Gia split up as well. Gia quickly realized she wasn't getting anywhere anytime soon as a lot of these patients were suffering from Alzheimer's. The only thing she seemed to be getting down was being hit on by a majority of the men.
Which is what she was trying to get away from at the moment, "Oh dear…" A frail old man held her hand tightly, well as tightly as he could anyway, "Those eyes… That wonderfully deep grey color. It reminds me of my Evangeline…" He shook as he reached out a hand and caressed her cheek. Gia smiled, ever so tightly, not knowing how to get out of the situation, "Evangeline?" the man's eyes were glazed over now, "I've missed you dearly. I thought you left me after the war."
"Um, sir?" She cleared her throat awkwardly patting his hand, "I'm not Evangeline. I'm here to talk to you about your house getting robbed? Do you remember that?"
"Now, Evangeline, stop with that nonsense. Whatever have you done with your hair?" He picked up a dark curl and eyed it, "Why'd you change the red, dear? I loved that on you."
Gia sighed and tried to take her hand back but he latched on. She eyed around for help but Dean was preoccupied at the other end of the room, Cass was talking to a cat and Sam looked like he was daydreaming, "Sir, i-"
"Well i guess they say blondes have more fun in the bedroom." He grinned showing no teeth, "I can get use to that."
Gia groaned, "Oh good god-"
"Alright we got a lead." Dean stepped over to her then eyed the scene and grinned, "Everything okay guys?"
The man narrowed his eyes, "Yes, i'm talking with my woman sonny boy. You just back off!"
Dean cleared his throat, putting an arm around Gia and gently leading her away from the man breaking his grasp, "Actually that's my woman, Sir, but uh you have yourself a great day. Finish your Jello or whatever it is you eat." He laughed a little tightly before quickly turning and shuffling away from him only stopping in front of Cass, "Cass. Let's go."
Cass looked up from the cat momentarily, "I've almost cracked him."
"Now."
The two of them began to walk down the hall, Cass following shortly after, Gia looked over at Dean, "What did you figure out?"
"An old contact of our dads, uh Fred Jones, lives here. Room 114."
"Okay…?"
"Hes psychokinetic."
"Ah. Connecting the dots now." She nodded
Knocking on the door the four of them timidly came into the room to see an old man staring intently at the tv screen, "Mr. Jones? Hey, it's, uh, Sam Winchester." Sam knelt down to look at him
Dean walked to the other side, "Fred?"
My nerves! Get me a doctor!
The tv was blaring cartoons so dean turned and shut it off, "Fred! Hey!" He clapped loudly but Fred simply stared at the blank tv now
"So, you really think this one man is causing all of these... Shenanigans?" Cass asked
Dean shrugged his head, "Well, if he is, he'd be surrounded by a circle of crazy, right?"
"Okay," Gia eyed around the room, "How do we figure out if he's surrounded by a circle of crazy?"
"Hang on." Dean got up and turned around, he grabbed a metal object and bashed his forehead against earning looks from the three of them, the thing tinged and birds were heard, Dean shuddered, "Bingo."
Cass studied the old man. "But how?"
"Fred's got juice." Sam answered, "I mean, an average psychokinetic can move things with his mind, but a guy like Fred? You get him worked up, he can reshape reality."
"All right, so where's his off switch?" Dean glared
"I don't know." Sam shook his head, "I'm not even certain if he knows we're here."
"Poor guy…" Gia looked to him sadly
"Do we… kill him?" Cass mused
"Excuse me, Agent's." The Doctor commented from the doorway startling all of them, "Did he just threaten to murder one of my patients?"
Once they were kicked out Dean glared at the angel, "Real freaking smooth."
"Well, we don't have to leave him. I could teleport him."
Sam shook his head, "Fred's radioactive, Cass. Zap him - no telling what will happen."
"The three of us will circle back and get Fred tonight, nice and clean." Dean instructed, "You go invisible girl and keep an eye on him. You hear me?" there was a rustling that sounded and when they turned he was gone, "Good."
