Chapter Thirty Five. Scotty Plays Catch Up with Ryo
At the Deadlands, Ryo kept finding himself in a pattern in an attempt to evade the shadow creature that was trying to drag him down to the Deadlands. He walked in front of the hardware store background.
"Ash!" Ryo called, "Ash! Pablo! James! If any of you are there! Please hurry! Rowen! Sage! Cye! Kento! Rekino!"
He saw the Shadow creature emerge inside the store and took a step back.
"You gotta be kidding me!" Ryo exclaimed in a near quiet tone.
"Hello?" a voice called causing the shadow creature to leave the hardware store.
"Hello?" the voice called again. Ryo turned to see the gown girl (the girl who wore all pink that Ruby killed) from the dance look around, searching for someone as she kept calling out, "Hello? Is anybody here?"
The girl walked over to Ryo and asked, "Where am I?"
"What is your name?"
"Katie."
Ryo took a step back as the shadow creature appeared behind Katie.
"Katie, look out!" Ryo exclaimed.
Katie turned around to see the creature in front of her and screamed in horror. Suddenly, little demonic hands grabbed Katie by her pink heels and began to drag her down to the ground as the helpless girl screamed, "Help! Help!"
"Hang on!" Ryo hurried over to the corner of a building, "Take my hand!"
He reached his hand and tried to save the poor girl. The Wildfire and Inferno armor bearer saw that he was helpless to save Katie and yelled, "NO!"
Someone grabbed him and pulled him to the alleyway as Katie was dragged down to the alleyway, "If it finds you, it will take you too."
Ryo looked and found himself face to face with a young man with light brown hair, dark eyes, and he seemed a bit too familiar, "Who are...wait a minute! You're one of the friends to Ash Williams!"
"Yeah." the young man answered, "my name is Scotty. Wait, how do you know Ash?"
"My friends and I were sent from Japan to protect him," Ryo replied, "an evil that killed you and the rest of your friends is out to kill him and bring the world into darkness."
"That bites." Scotty quipped.
"How did you end up here anyways?" Ryo asked.
"After the evil in the cabin killed me and was done with me," Scotty answered, "I ended up here trying to hide from this shadow creep. What about you?"
"The one responsible for sending demons to kill Ash named Ruby killed me as she was planning to use my body as a demon's host."
"That must suck."
"Yeah. It does. What about the rest of the group that died that night? Are they here too?"
"Some chick named Annie was before she was taken by this monster as well as a couple of red necks and a blonde dude," Scotty explained, "and so was my girlfriend Shelly when I first came here to this crazy place. I am not sure what happened to Cheryl and Linda whether they made it or not otherwise I'd see them already."
"Annie Knowby." Ryo said to himself before looking at Scotty, "I think there is some things that you should know since I'm here with you."
Ryo then proceeded to explain a bit about what happened with Ash over the past 30 years and a bit of the Ronin Warriors and so forth.
"So Ash is a father?! Wow." Scotty exclaimed, "and after 30 plus years, people in Elk Grove now know at least a bit of the truth. Man, you miss a lot when you're dead."
"Mind if I ask, but is this Hell?" Ryo asked.
"No, but you are close," Scotty answered, "but I feel like that is the next stop when the creature takes you like it took Shelly and who knows how many other people."
"What must we do?"
"For now it's more of a duck and cover plan like they are doing."
Ryo looked around to see people running and hiding in different spots in the Deadlands, including some kids from the dance and Amy from the Antiques television show.
"I guess that's all that you can do." Ryo told Scotty.
"Yeah. I know a place where that demon won't find us." Scotty replied, "Come on."
Ryo followed Scotty to a building where the shadow creature won't be able to find them.
