DISCLAIMER I OWN NOTHING RELATED TO GILMORE GIRLS

It was New Year's Eve and somehow Logan got us a reservation at an amazing little bistro downtown that had the best Italian food in the world. I even had a new dress that my Mom had gotten me for Christmas a golden sparkly dress and a black shrug that went with it to keep me warm and I even slipped on a pair of black pumps that I hadn't worn in years. I went from not wearing a dress or heels except for work to having two fancy events in a few months, first the ball and now a fancy dinner with Logan,

"Ace, you look amazing." He smiled at my from the doorway and I secured my locket around my neck, I had taken it off when I showered,

"You clean up pretty nice yourself Mr. Huntzburger." I smiled and went to walk past him he grabbed my waist and kissed me passionately pressing me up against the door frame, "What was that for?" I gasped after he released me,

"You look great, I can't show my girlfriend that I love her?"

"Of course you can," I smiled and kissed his cheek softly, "Its so weird not having to factor in Lena when going out…do you think she's having a good time with Honour?" I asked,

"Of course she is, she loves Katie and she's with Honour she's in good hands Ace."

"I know, I know. It's just…I worry." I admitted,

"I know," he smiled and kissed my forehead,

"I know Ace," he smirked, copying me, "I worry about her too but I also know she is the safest place in the world tied with being here with us or being with your mother. Lena is safe and happy and probably pumped full of sugar at this point." He smiled, "She's great."

"Can I just send one text?"

"You told me to stop you from doing that,"

"But-," I pouted and held my phone out in front of me, Logan took it and put it in his pocket,

"Good idea," he chuckled as he helped me put my coat on. The restaurant was entirely decked out in silver and gold in the focus of New Year's Eve, and they had a set menu for the night and our table had been reserved- a month in advance, the waitress let it slip when Logan was in the washroom,

"I wish I had a husband like yours,"

"Oh, he's not my husband."

"Snatch him up soon honey, you know he made these reservations a month in advance?"

"A month." I choked on my water,

"Yeah girl, it was originally for a table of 3 he changed it last week for a table for 2." She shrugged, quickly quieting down when Logan came back to the table,

"Would you like a bottle of wine for the table?"

"I'm fine with water, but a glass of champagne. Ace?" he offered while smiling,

"I'd like that," I smiled at her, she nodded and walked away,

"Are you-,"

"If you value my sanity do not ask if I'm sure. Its New Year's Eve and you've got the night off to have fun, and I know you love champagne."

"It's all bubbly," I smiled and he laughed,

"Like you," he kissed my cheek, "So what are you getting tonight. I called ahead to make sure they had something you'd like."

"I'm not picky,"

"I didn't want you to have to settle on anything."

"Why thank you," I bounced in my seat as he handed me the menu. I eyed Logan, he really was going the extra mile tonight I had to think he was trying to make up for 3 New Year's Eve's in one night. The waitress came back with the champagne and Logan didn't even look at her whilst she made flirty eyes at him- wench-,

"I can't believe her," I whispered as she left,

"Why?" he laughed, clearly oblivious,

"She was checking you out,"

"Really? Maybe we'll get free dessert," he winked at me.

"Sure she'll love that,"

"I don't really care," he laughed,

"So what else do you have planned for tonight?"

"Why do you think I have anything else planned?"

"Because I know you,"

"All too well, bah fine." He laughed, "I may have paid your favourite used book store to stay open after hours. I doubt you've bought yourself a new book in three years."

"Why do you assume that?"

"Am I right?"

"I have bought one book…"

"What was it?"

"What to expect when you're expecting." I admitted,

"We're storming the book store and you are buying each book you want."

"What's my time limit?"

"Normally, I'd say none but I thought it would be nice to be home for when the ball drops."

"That sounds fair, is that why we're having an earlier dinner?"

"Bingo,"

"What can I get you?" flirty Mcflirterson came by the table,

"Can I have the filet minion?"

"Oh that sounds good, share?" I asked Logan,

"Sure, but only if I can share your chicken."

"Deal," I smiled at him and handed the waitress my menu. It was so nice to be free with Logan, laughing and eating and sharing our plates it's like we were out in college again, it's nice to be young and carefree. I wouldn't change having Lena for anything in the world really I wouldn't but sometimes it's nice to just be out with my hus- boyfriend.

"Ace?" Logan broke me out of my thoughts,

"Yeah," I shook my head,

"Ready to go?"

"Yes," I smiled, grabbing my to go tin from the table and Logan grabbed my Burkin bag,

"Why does this weigh ten pounds?" Logan laughed as he weighed it in his hands,

"I may have a book in there." I shrugged snatching my bag back,

"Whys?" he asked, helping my put my jacket on,

"I always take a book with me, in case service was slow or you choked and I was waiting in the hospital."

"So while I could be dead you'd have a nice read?" he chuckled,

"Well no friend only family allowed in there, stupid rule. Though I could always hatch a plan and climb through the ceiling and Mission Impossible it into your room, and in heels yet." I matched him smirk for smirk,

"That was way to thought out to be off the top of your head."

"And if it was?"

"You're more diabolical then I've ever thought." He kissed me passionately while we flagged down a cab,

"Come on Master and Commander." I smiled as I pull him into a car,

"I forgot that nickname! Its sticking." He laughed as we flopped into a car, the annoyed driver barked at us where we were going and Logan gave him the name of my favourite used book store,

"Logan, this is beyond perfect." I smiled as we entered the store, a annoyed looking teenage girl sitting behind the cash,

"Thank you for staying open," Logan slipped her, what I'm sure was an excessive bill and she perked right up,

"Anytime for you sir," she smiled, and upon standing I noticed her swollen belly and she shot me a dirty look,

"How far along?" I smiled gently at her,

"6 months, why?" she snapped,

"I'm a Mom, just curious. Congratulations." I smiled,

"You have a kid?" she asked,

"Yep, and my mom had me when she 16. Not judging." I smiled at her, "I have a 3 year old daughter."

"I'm having a girl too," she smiled, "Her dad isn't around."

"I was raised by a surrogate father, and sometimes Dad comes around." I smiled at Logan whose face was flushed,

"He doesn't want her, neither does my Mom."

"I'm so sorry you're going through that." I assured her,

"Thanks," she smiled, I pulled out my business card and wrote my number on the back of it,

"If you need someone," I handed her the card, "My name is Rory. I live downtown."

"I'm Amy," she smiled,

"Nice to meet you, this is my boyfriend Logan."

"Hi," she smiled, "Thank you. So much."

"Anytime, I had a supportive Mom but not everyone does." I smiled and rubbed her arm, She smiled and sat back down and tucked the bill Logan gave her in her jeans

"You're amazing," Logan whispered in my ear as we browsed the shelves,

"Why?"

"You just gave a teenage girl someone to call a friend in a rough situation. That's amazing no one else would do that."

"They should," I sighed, I remember the judgey eyes and it sucks feeling like you have no one, I smiled at Logan. I'd never tell him that he'd feel even worse about not being there even though it's not really his fault. We spent the next 2 hours browsing the racks, I bought about 30 books and even Logan bought a couple we kept adding to the pile at the front with Amy and she happily checked us out and sent us on our way, I encouraged her to call me if she ever needed anything, even just a friend to listen.

"Logan are you okay?" I asked as we were taking the taxi home, his leg was bouncing and his face was flushed,

"Yeah, why?"

"Cause you're bouncing." I gestured to his leg,

"Oh sorry," he laughed breathlessly, and wiped his forehead, "Its just hot in the cab."

"We can turn the heat down if you want."

"No its okay, are you okay?" he asked, suddenly panicked,

"Yeah, I'm good." I laughed, maybe the food didn't agree with him? What am I saying, we ate the same thing. Maybe Shira said something to him that struck a chord? He was on his phone for a minute at the store and didn't say who it was just not to worry about it,

"We're here Ace,"

"Oh sorry," I smiled and took his hand as we stepped out of the car. Logan paid the cab and we headed upstairs, Logan's palms were all sweaty, I slipped out of his hand and he just laughed, wrapping his arms around my waist and kissed my neck as we entered the elevator.

"Should I call Honour?" I asked him as he was kissing my neck,

"Ace, I'm doing some of my best work here and you're talking through it."

"Okay, okay." I sighed and put my phone away as we arrived at my floor, Logan stood behind me as I unlocked the door to my living room, kitchen counters everything covered in candles,

"Logan," I whispered walking to my apartment, dropping my shoes and my bag. He closed the door behind my and took my hands leading me into the center of the apartment. Every surface that could be was covered in beautiful white candles, my eyes were tearing up and he slid down on to one knee,

"This is the kind of proposal that you deserve that yells Rory. You're beautiful as these candles, and find beauty in simplicity. I shouldn't have proposed to you the way I did in front of strangers, people whose opinion I don't even care about. All that matters is you and me, until you gave me the greatest gift in the world, you brought me Lena and I was too stupid and hurt to know about her."

"Logan," I sighed, looking around at the beauty surrounding us,

"So here am 3 years later, more in love with you then I ever thought imaginable and with you we've created this weird little family that I so love being a part of and I don't want to spend one more day without you for the rest of my life. Lorelai Leigh Gilmore, Ace, will you do the enormous honour of being my wife?"

"Oh wow, Logan, I just…I can't… YES!" I shouted around my sobs,

"What?" Logan looked lost but smiling at the same time,

"Yes, yes Logan I will marry you." I cried falling into his arms, he picked me up and spun me around,

"You'll marry me, really?"

"Yes you idiot I will marry you!"

"Why are crying?"

"Because I'm so happy." I smiled and kissed him passionately,

"I love you I love you," I repeated as he kissed my neck, "Can I have my ring?"

"Of course," he smiled, wiping a few tears from his eyes. He slipped the much to extravagant diamond ring onto my finger, I fluttered my fingers adjusting to it,

"I love it," I smiled, "I'm never taking it off."

"I'll insist upon that." He smiled and kissed me, pressing me against a wall, "Would you like to ring in the New Year as a engaged woman?"

"I'd like that very much," I breathed, he flipped open his phone, "5, 4-,"

"3, 2-,"

"1" we said together and he kissed me ringing in the New Year with my fiancé.
