"Why can't it move?" Mia muttered as she tried to move Phantom Blaze. But the impact from fall had damaged its motor so it could not budge an inch. "Great." She sighed. "Not only would I get a lecture from Sakuya, but Haruki would be bound to have a word with me. But it wasn't my fault. I was just doing as he asked. Take the flag. But that creepy LBX just had to interfere."

She sighed again and stretched out her mind to Daimen. 'Daimen.'

'Mia!' He replied in relief. 'Where are you?'

'Down in the abyss. Don't worry about Phantom Blaze. It's still in one piece but the motor system is damaged so I can't move. How is the situation up there?'

'We're pushing them back.' Daimen told her. 'Yuno has gone up and taken the flag so we should be able to recover Phantom Blaze soon.'

'Alright, I'll wait here patiently then.'

With that, she ended the connection and leaned back in her control pod. 'Even if I said that, it's going to be very boring.'

She suddenly felt Muraku tugging on the twin bond again and she frowned irritably. 'Just what does he want?'

Instead of replying, she slammed up her mental shields and blocked the bond. She could feel Muraku recoiling as a result and stopped tugging on it. She smiled smugly and settled down in the control pod but the emergency communication line started beeping before she could get comfortable.

She groaned and accepted it. Just as she expected, Muraku's voice came though. "Mia, why did you block the bond?"

"I thought I told you not to call me unless you have something absolutely important to talk about." Mia said irritably.

"Why do you want to fight me?"

Mia frowned, feeling puzzled as to what was Muraku trying to say this time. "Isn't it obvious? I want to break out of your shadow."

"Mia, listen, I know that you might hate me for saying this, but fighting me won't help that cause. If you did, you will only be hurt even more than now."

"And how!?" Mia yelled. "All my life I have been used as a comparison object to you just for everyone's amusement. It's like I'm destine to be the person whom people use to check if you are living up to their standards…" Once she started, she could not stop the flow of the thoughts and feelings she kept bottled up all this time and Muraku simply let her.

Once he was sure that she was done, he asked, "Feeling better now?"

Mia sucked in a deep breath and nodded although he could not see it but she knew that he continue anyway.

"Mia, if you had won this round, you will be in danger." Muraku told her seriously. "After my lost against Arata, the country supporting me told me that they will eliminate anyone close to me if I lose again, starting with you."

"What?" Mia said in shock, feeling a trickle of sweat falling down her face. "Is it really that serious?"

"I'm afraid so." Muraku said guiltily. "I'm sorry. I wanted to rescue everyone here from this proxy war but I did not think that it will get to this."

Mia clenched her fist tightly. "They have gone too far…But this does not excuse your behavior yesterday! Can't you just stop being overprotective about what boys I'm with! Even Arata doesn't do this to Reika. Also, why can't you just trust me?!"

Muraku really wanted to facepalm himself then. Here he was warning her about the possible consequences of him losing again and yet, she was worried about such a trivial thing. As though sensing his thoughts, Mia was about to open her mouth when the alarm sounded.

The point has been captured. Ownership of the Wall of Gigant will be transferred from Rossius to Jenock. Cease fighting immediately…

"We couldn't protect it…" Muraku's voice trailed off.

Mia frowned as she felt the craft carrier's claws coming down to get her and clenched her fist. Just because she acting like she didn't care about what Muraku said, it doesn't mean that she's fine with it. 'Just what in the world have you gotten into? I have to talk to Yuko-san about this.'

"Alright, talk." Daimen said, blocking her way to the sports center. "What's gotten into you? Ever since the mission ended, you've been worried about something. And you didn't even flinch once at Catherin's insult, one which you would normally react badly to."

"Sorry, but I'm in a hurry. I need to talk to Yuko-san about something." Mia said apologetically and tried to sidestep him but he merely blocked her with his foot.

"Mia, I'm your friend and I really want to help you if you have any problems." He told her sincerely.

Mia rolled her eyes at him. "Sorry, but this is P&C stuff with Yuko-san, Muraku and I."

"What does Muraku have to do with it?" Daimen tilted his head curiously, lowering his foot.

"Everything." Mia sighed. "Go back to the dorms without me. I need to talk to Yuko-san and I know that you don't get along with Atsuya."

"If only you knew why." Daimen muttered as he stepped aside to let her pass and watched her go.

"I wonder what she is going to discuss about with Kuriko-sensei." Daimen said as he scratched his head. "But, she'll be around that annoying flirt too. I wonder why in the world she picked him instead of me…" He trailed off as he smiled sadly.

"Hey." Atsuya greeted Mia when she arrived with a kiss and she managed to smile.

"Hey. Is Yuko-san around?"

"She's in the office." Atsuya jerked his thumb at the third floor. "Why? Is there something urgent?"

"Very." Mia nodded and headed towards the stairs. "I'll talk to you later."

"Ok…" Atusya trailed off and caught Charlotte's eye as he turned around. She had a smug smile on her face and was about to approach him but he managed to avoid her by slipping back into the drinks bar and took the order of several students.

Charlotte felt her face growing scarlet in anger but she quickly calmed herself down. 'No matter. I will make sure that Houjou Mia becomes LOST and you will have all the time in the world to be with me.'

"It is that serious?" Yuko frowned after Mia had explained everything about Muraku's predicament.

"I'm afraid so. I'm not too worried about them coming after me since I can take care of myself, but I'm worried about Wataru and mom if he really loses again." Mia said plainly.

"Mia, I want to help you but I don't think I have the resources or connections to do so." Yuko sighed. "And even though you are strong, would you risk exposure just to protect yourself?"

"I don't know." Mia admitted.

Yuko eyed her for a moment and leaned forward a little. "Have you talked to Muraku about this at all after War Time?"

"No. We…got into an argument and I'm avoiding him now." Mia said sheepishly.

"About what?"

"About…me getting too close to Daimen and beating up boys who are harassing me." Mia said, looking down while fiddling with her skirt. "I got angry at him for not trusting me enough and sort of blurted out that his reputation as the Violet Devil had been causing me a lot of problems in school."

"Oh." Yuko gave her an understanding nod. "The comparison stuff. I thought he already knew about it?"

"He knows that people are comparing me to him, he just didn't understand how much." Mia shrugged.

"So you are trying to avoid him and yet, you are still concern about him, given that you are trying to find a way to break his connections to the government that he's associated with." Yuko said with an amused smile.

Mia blushed and ducked her head. "It's not like I can just sit around and wait for the men in black to shoot me in the face, can I?"

"Well, I'll see about what I can do." Yuko said, standing up. "But I'm going to need your help too."

"Anything." Mia nodded.

"First, they have to be communicating with Muraku through some form of media or in person." Yuko said thoughtfully.

"So basically, spy."

"Exactly." Mia nodded.

"Alright. Thank you, Yuko-san." Mia bowed.

"It's alright." Yuko smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder. "By the way, have you seen Maya and the rest yet?"

"I've only seen Maya but Wataru and Nick, not yet."

"Then go and find them." Yuko said as she pushed her to the door.

"Alright." Mia nodded and headed out the door. But she paused halfway and turned back to her mentor. "By the way, is there any word about Arata?"

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. He will be discharged tomorrow if all goes well so he and Reika should be back the day after."

"Great." Mia smiled.

"And Mia?"

"Hm?"

"Try to make things right with Muraku." Yuko said with a smile.

Mia raised an eyebrow but nodded. "I'll try."
