Marley Rose stood by her locker and watched from afar as her boyfriend Jake Puckerman chatted with some random Cheerio. And to say she was upset was a total complete understatement. Marley was livid. It wasn't that she didn't allow Jake to talk to other girls, it was just that it happened so often.

Jake was pretty popular. And super good looking. It would be odd if girls didn't fawn over him. Sometimes it amazed Marley that this guy picked her to be his girlfriend. She was totally different from all these girls throwing themselves at Jake. Marley was shy. She barely ever lost her temper, and she was not the jealous type. At least she didn't think so. However, there was something about this one girl who was currently vying for Jake's attention. This girl looked like Marley. Except this girl was skinnier, wore makeup, and seemed more confident.

Marley had enough of watching the exchange between the two of them, but she didn't want to bother Jake. She didn't want him to think she was needy or jealous, because she wasn't. But Marley had a right to worry about Jake falling for other girls, right?

Then a miracle happened. The bell for third period rang, and the girl left. Finally! Marley watched as the girl ran towards her other Cheerio friends. Marley couldn't hear the majority of their conversation, but she swore she heard the girl tell her friends how cute Jake was.

Marley stomped down the hall to talk to Jake. She didn't even care that she would be late to Spanish. She just wanted to know what Jake and that boyfriend stealer were talking about.

"Marley, hey, what are you doing here? Don't you have class?" Jake shut his locker closed and walked with her.

"So, um, who were you just talking to?" Marley tried to sound as calm and collected at possible.

"Why, are you jealous?" Jake smirked.

"Psh, no," Marley waved it off. "I was just curious.

"Oh, really?" Jake raised his eyebrow. "Do you think I was flirting with her?"

"Of course not." Marley gave Jake a smile that probably came off as super fake. "I don't care who you talk to."

"So it doesn't bother you?" Jake asked.

Marley wasn't sure if Jake was testing her or something. "Of course it doesn't bother me," she lied smoothly. "I'll see you after class." Marley quickly spun around and walked to her class, trying to push Jake and Boyfriend Stealer out of her thoughts.

Marley walked out of class an hour and a half later and stopped short. She couldn't believe what she saw in front of her. There was Jake talking to Boyfriend Stealer again! Didn't that girl know Jake had a girlfriend?

Marley decided that it was time to leave the shyness at the door and become more confident. She took a deep breath, and walked right up to the two of them.

"Why are you flirting with my boyfriend?" Marley demanded. This was one of the only times where she was thankful for her tall genes. Marley stood about three inches taller than the other girl.

Boyfriend Stealer (Marley still didn't know her name, but she decided that Boyfriend Stealer was so much better) put her hands up. "I wasn't trying to do anything," she said defensively. Her two bottle-blonde Cheerio friends joined her.

"Come on, Lacey, let's just go," her friend said. Marley recognized her from her biology class. She always sat in class and brushed her hair.

"Yeah, Lacey, you better go." Marley smiled evilly. She didn't even recognize herself right now. Who was this confident, assertive girl?

Lacey gave Marley one last look and stomped away, her two minions right at her heals.

Marley felt very pleased with herself until she turned around and saw Jake standing there with his mouth wide opened. Then her confidence melted away like butter. Had she just blown her relationship with Jake?

"I don't know who that girl just was," Jake finally spoke, "but I liked her a lot."

Marley smiled in embarrassment. "I don't really know what got into me," she said, her shyness returning.

"If you didn't want me talking to Lacey, you could have told me." Jake pushed a strand of Marley's hair behind her ear.

"I didn't want to sound needy and jealous," Marley said. "Although what I just did was probably worse."

"Well one thing's for sure," Jake said. "She's definitely not talking to me ever again."

Marley smiled softly. "I'm sorry for acting so possessive."

"It's okay," Jake laughed. "It was kind of hot," he admitted.

"Shut up." Marley slapped Jake's shoulder playfully. "Well now you know to never flirt with a pretty girl again, or else I'll go all She-Hulk on her."

"Don't worry," Jake assured. "The only pretty girl I plan on flirting with is you."

"Good answer." Marley stood up on her tippy toes and hugged Jake.

"Although it would be fun watching you go all She-Hulk more often," Jake chuckled, earning another playful slap from Marley. He laughed once again. He loved her newfound confidence.
