AkuRokuDem Bromance: Pranks
"Are you sure this is a good idea?"
"Of course it is, it's going to be hilarious!"
"But it's so stupid! There's no way he's going to fall for it!"
"Yes he will, just be quiet and watch."
Roxas sighed as he crouched behind the kitchen bench next to Demyx, watching the door from the living room with a bored expression.
Just a few minutes ago, Demyx had dragged him away from the living room, saying he needed to talk to him. Roxas had invited both the blonde and Axel over to his place to play the new game he had gotten – Kingdom Hearts. He really just wanted to go back and return to the game, but Demyx insisted on playing a prank on their red-headed friend.
He rested a bucket of water on the partially open door before dragging Roxas behind to kitchen bench to wait for Axel to come in looking for them. It was so cliché and stupid, Roxas didn't see how it was ever going to work.
Not to mention it would make a mess of his kitchen.
But Demyx insisted and it was too bothersome to deal with a disgruntled blonde.
It seemed like forever before Axel decided to come see what was taking them so long. The two boys heard his voice warning them of his approach, "guys, what are you even doing in there? Don't tell me you-"
Roxas knew that the red head had been about to make a joke. But whatever it was meant to be, he didn't get to find out because at that point, Axel opened the door.
There was a surprised yelp as the bucket fell and water cascaded down on the hapless victim.
Demyx stood up and started laughing, "See Roxas? I told you it would work!"
Even Roxas himself started giggling at the other boy's shocked expression.
He really should have thought about the repercussions of pouring water on Axel.
The first annoyance wasn't so much a revenge on behalf of the red head as it was simply something Roxas initially feared.
The water had caused quite a mess in the kitchen and after Demyx and Axel had gone home, his mother, furious, had demanded he clean up the mess, saying he couldn't go out until he did.
Roxas couldn't help but think that was completely unfair, but his mother wouldn't listen.
It would have been nice if his mother's wrath had been the only issue. But it seemed that as revenge for the water fiasco, Axel had decided to make Roxas' life hell.
They had been over at Axel's house, walking through the backyard to see Axel watering the plants. Roxas had immediately felt there was an ominous feeling to the whole situation (Axel? Watering plants? Who wouldn't be suspicious?) but nonetheless, he had come out with Demyx and talked with the two of them amicably.
For a long time nothing happened.
Then, Axel turned up the tap to the point where water was shooting out of the hose in a punishing torrent. Roxas flinched at the sound, "hey Axel, are you trying to kill the plants or something? You're going to drown them like that."
The boy gave the two blondes a disarming smile, "don't worry, it's not for them."
And he turned and directed the nozzle of the hose at them.
The sound that came out of Roxas' mouth was very high and unmanly indeed, but he was going to blame that on the surprise.
The water was harsh and Roxas sputtered as it went up his nose and in his eyes, flailing uselessly before Axel turned the hose off, the same cheerful smile still present on his face.
"Since the two of you drenched me, I figured it was best to return the favour."
Roxas swiped the wet hair out of his eyes, glaring up at the red head before Demyx spoke up, a cheerful smile on his face, "oh that was fun, how about you give me that hose and let me do it you?"
And war was declared.
"Please?"
"No."
"Come on."
"I refuse."
"It'll be fun."
"It'll be no."
"Roxas."
The blonde sighed at the other's whining tone, crossing his arms and glaring at his friend resolutely, "no Demyx, I won't take part in this, you and Axel can battle it out all you want but I am not getting involved, I'm… I'm Switzerland."
At least, that is what he had hoped to happen.
But Axel and Demyx seemed intent on dragging him into their fight.
Hiding games, throwing remotes, Axel tipping a bowl of popcorn on Demyx's head, so Demyx retaliating by throwing a bag of flour at Axel, getting it on Roxas as well.
It was after a week like this, when Axel offered to make lunch and burnt both Demyx and Roxas' that the short blonde cracked.
"Enough!" he slammed his hands onto the table, ignoring the pain that shot up his arms at the action, "I can't take anymore of you two being idiots!"
"What do you mean by that?" Demyx asked innocently.
"I mean that you both need to stop with the pranks, it's unbearable."
"You mean, you give up?"
Roxas froze, looking up to see twin evil smirks on the two's faces. The words reminded him of a conversation he had had with them a little over a week ago.
"I don't know about that, Roxas, we can be pretty annoying if we want to."
"I'm not disputing that Demyx, but annoyingness isn't an actual persuasive technic."
"You sure about that? I reckon me and Demyx could manage to make you crumble simply through the power of our obnoxiousness."
"I'd be willing to bet ten dollars that neither of you two could make me give up at anything simply by being annoying."
"Oh really?"
Understanding flooded Roxas' expression and the two other boys held out their hands, "well?" Axel asked, "Pay up."
Roxas was silent, a blank expression on his face that slightly unnerved the two older boys, "Roxas?"
"You mean to tell me that all of that was just for ten measly dollars? You need to fix your priorities."
Demyx looked insulted, "you can get a bunch of stuff for ten dollars," he protested.
"So, because of that, because you wanted to get 'a bunch of stuff', I had to deal with the water and the bees and the flour and the popcorn and the dog and the broken remote and the lost possessions and everything single other little thing you two did over this past week."
He smiled slightly and Axel gulped, nervously leaning in to whisper to Demyx, "I think we broke him."
Roxas heard him though and he turned to the red head, "what was that you said a week ago, Axel? Right after you sprayed us with that hose? 'Since the two of you drenched me, I figured it was best to return the favour' wasn't it? Well then, since the two of you made this past week pure torture for me, I best return the favour, hadn't I?"
And Axel and Demyx were reminded why it was a bad idea to annoy Roxas.
They never got their ten dollars either.
Yeah... I dunno. I liked the idea but this isn't phrased well I think.
Oh well :p
