Casey woke up the next morning and went to the NICU to see Mackenzie,
She was able to hold her.
Casey: hi Mackenzie, good morning sweet baby Girl. Mama loves you.
She starts to cry s little.
Casey:ssshh it's okay. Mamas here. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey"
mackenzie calmed down and her big blue grey eyes looked up at Casey.
Casey: did you like that?
Lisa: hi Casey, how are you?
casey: I'm ok, I got her to calm down before she got really fussy.
Lisa: that's great. You should be able to feed her with a bottle soon, maybe In about 2 weeks. Then you can try to just breast feed Exclusively without a bottle.
Casey:that would be wonderful. Lisa, about last night...
Lisa: Casey it's fine. Don't apologize. I see couples all the time who are going through this and sometimes they have disagreements.
Casey: yeah but the NICU isn't the appropriate place for Derek and I to have issues.
Lisa: It's okay I promise. Things will get better. You just have to take one day at a time. Derek I don't think meant to hurt your feelings. Guys don't think especially under stress
Casey: I know tell me about it. I was wondering do you know of someone I could talk to or that Derek and I both could talk to. Maybe it would help
lisa: I could find out for you. I know there are support groups for parents with preemies and it always seems to help to have other parents who are going through the same thing to talk to.
Casey:thank you so so much for everything.
