Chapter 35:
Faith Shattering
Shiemi quietly glanced up at Rin's back. He was going return her to her prison cell... They did a series of twists and turns to reach their destination. A sigh passed through her lips at the thought of being caged once more. She really missed her friends and now boyfriend, back in Assiah. Shiemi's eyes roamed the hallways and the doors she past, trying to concentrate on memorizing the routes they took. She just had to have faith that they were coming to save her. Rin silenced her train of thought by speaking to a nearby guard.
"-So they have found a way to get in, huh? Tch must've been Mephisto…" The soldier nodded an affirmative to what Rin says.
A light of hope could be seen in blond exorcist's eyes. 'Yuki-chan and the others are coming for me! I knew they would!' she internally squealed joyfully.
"Find them. Capture them. And at my signal, kill them."
"Hai Rin-sama!" The guard rushed off to deliver the news conveyed to him.
The blond was baffled by what she heard. A hand covered her mouth as she choked on a sob, several tears gliding down her cheeks. 'How could Rin-kun do this?' Her slightly reddish eyes stared at the demon prince in disbelief.
Rin took the opportunity to add more oil to fire; "Do you think torturing first would work? I mean, it would be beneficial to squeeze every bit of information out of them while we can."
He gave Shiemi the most twist grin he could muster at that point. His eyes burned into Shiemi's wanting to see her emotions, to see if she would crack. She was close to it, for she seemed to struggle to stay optimistic. 'A little more…' he purred.
"You can watch too if you want. Well, you don't really have much of a choice though."
He saw her legs buckle slightly under the imaginary pressure. More tears and slight quiver of her bottom lip. He wanted her to suffer a little more. 'Almost there.'
"I'll be sure to make sure you get see you precious Yuki-chan and friends. Separately of course, it's the most humane thing I could do. I would even see him." Rin said a high, mocking voice.
'Just one more push would do.' Shiemi bowed her head hiding her face.
"I'll also let you have the choice of choose which one you will save. I will slaughter the others."
As if he had added a thousand ton weight on her, she collapsed to the floor. Her eyes glazed over from the shock. Elsewhere in the nearby rooms and hallways Shiemi's scream chimed. It was music to demons' ears. Though it was a bit annoying since she won't shut up! Her shrieks continued for another few seconds, and a drastic silence came upon them. Shiemi was knocked by yours truly. Not bothering to carry her he pulled her by the legs to her cell. He chained her up and locked the cell after he stepped out.
A deep frown decorated his face since he was deep in thought. Rin walked away from Shiemi's cell with his tail thrashing around madly. He couldn't help but growl internally as memories flooded his brain of seeing Shiemi's tears and words of courage. The demon leaned on the wall for support. His heart, or whatever is left, ached. He clutched at the robe covering him. His bangs covered his eyes and stuck to his forehead from sweat. His breathing was hoarse from holding back his sobs. The teen refused to cry, for crying was weakness. Satan wouldn't tolerate such a thing. Rin growled once more, he had to get rid of these feelings as soon as possible. A few minutes past as he calmed down. With a deep sigh, he removed himself from the wall and dusted himself.
The demon decided to focus on his inner turmoil later. He went to his office to see any reports on finding the exorcists. Once he entered the room he was greeted with Amaimon sitting on his desk shuffling through his things, with a bored expression on his face. Rin glared irritably at the Earth Demon King as he marched to the desk. He grabbed the older demon and pulled him to his face. Amaimon's bored look bore into Rin's angry look.
"Play with your onii-san. I'm bored…" Amaimon quickly pulled Rin into a tight headlock.
"I'm not in the mood for your games Amaimon…" Rin hissed at the other.
"Play with me." He tightens the headlock even more. "Everyone is either too busy or too boring. Play with me…"
Rin stared in disbelief at the creature in front of him, 'Was this person really a king? He was more of a toddler!' He pinched the bridge of his nose wondering how bad things keep happening to him. 'Oh yeah, karma is a bitch.' Amaimon slightly pouted as he stared at his younger brother. Rin's eyes were glazed over in thought. He thought of a way to get blueberry's attention. Then an idea struck him. Amaimon stood and bent over and gently gripped the other's tail. It was easy for Rin always kept in view.
He held the fluffy appendage in his clawed hand. His attention switched from Rin back the tail. He brought the tail to his face. He sniffed it, smelling the conditioner Rin put on it. It smelled like blueberry. He opened his mouth, preparing to bite. Beforehand, Rin had woken out of his daze to see Amaimon about to bite his tail. He quickly snatches appendage away, then growls at Amaimon.
"Stop ignoring me and play with me," Amaimon whined as he nipped Rin's ear. He yanked a little, which earned another growl from the prince. "Ever sense you kidnapped that human, you spend practically almost every day with her."
"Fine, I'll fight you. Just don't go through my stuff," Rin scratched the back of his head. "Let's go to the arena for our fight."
"No need for that baby brother," Amaimon calmly dismissed the idea. He unwrapped another lollipop, it was raspberry flavored. "I got an even better idea who we're fighting"
Rin raised a questioning eyebrow, "Like whom?"
"That's a secret"
It was Rin's turn pout. 'I'll guess I'll have to stay tuned then…' The demon sighed at Amaimon's antics; however, he followed the demon king. The said demon led them outside the palace, through the gates, and onto the main road. Instead of going the main road, they cut through the bushes and ventured into the thick forest. The vegetation consisted of winding vines and rots. Rin nearly tripped at few times, but tried to make sure it went unnoticed. They travelled for what seemed like hours. The green head did not mention anything about their destination, this further irritated the blueberry. Amaimon came to a sudden halt. Not looking at where he was going, he bumps into him. Rin was about to make a comment but stopped as his eyes widen at the scene, 'Well damn.'
