Percy's POV (Anne's POV coming soon!)
I followed my sister through the woods to get to their tribe. After walking for a while, we came to the entrance of a cave. It looked smaller than a normal cave, but large enough to fit an average sized person.
"Where are we?" I asked, suspicious even though I knew I was safe with Anne.
"Luray. The Luray Caverns are in that direction" she pointed west "but this isn't one of the Luray Caverns. It looks the same inside, but the Mist keeps this hidden from mortals. Inside is our tribe. Our main city is down there. Ready?"
I looked down the hole, gulping, before nodding my head. I could hear the son of Hades protesting against his guards as they neared. "I'm ready. Let's go before the demigods get here."
Anne smiled to herself, about something funny she must've remembered. I shrugged it iff. She's my big sister, and we need to catch up sometime later, after I've joined the tribe, if they'll have me. If I needed to know, she'd tell me. She'll tell me later anyways, so it doesn't matter.
"Here i go. Just follow me. As soon as I reach the bottom I'll signal you. Then you can come down. Okay, here I go," Anne instructed me as she lowered her body down into the hole. "If you need any help, the demigods will be here soon; their guards can help you."
I scowled. I don't need help to go down a hole. I'm a big boy now. And Anne should know, by my tone and words alone, that I dont want anything to do with those traitors. They tried to stab me in the back, literally, but my sister saved me. She's the hero, not them.
But how did she join the tribe? Was their someone she knew in here? At eleven years old, she knew someone in this tribe? Or was she taken from the Underworld, even if she wasn't a true hero. She didn't do anything spectacular, did she?
Anne disappeared down the hole, and yelled up to me a minute later. "Okay, SIGNAL!" I smiled. Classic Anne.
I ran over to the hole, and instantly realized why she said I might need help. There were large crystals jabbing out all around the entrance of the hole. How am I supposed to get through here?
"The button! Push it!" I looked, and saw a literal button lying on the ground. It looked like it fell off a coat, but when I tried to pick it up, it wouldn't budge. I pushed it down and all the crystals disappeared. Maybe I should trust Anne more.
I quickly slid down the hole before the crystals could close back up and slice me to bits. My sister met me at the bottom, arms out wide to catch me if I stumbled. I tripped a bit at the landing, and she righted me. Maybe Anne changed down here during all those years. When we were little, she would've let me fall a bit, picked me up, then laughed at me. She was unique like that.
This Anne was different. She was a tribal member, so her skin was faintly red, and she had small pointy teeth. She was quieter now, and cared for me like a bag of dog poop, not like we used to play when we were little. We were inseperatable, but now she looks at me weird, like she can't figure me out. I could figure her out in a heartbeat if I wanted. We're still siblings, and we used to be best friends it's not hard to figure out how she feels about me.
But whatever. Who am I to complain? She's back, and that's all I could ever want! She's the best sister ever, and I wouldn't want to lose her again. I wouldn't survive that.
Anne started to walk ahead of me, so I ran to catch up. "We'll be there soon!" She yelled over her shoulder.
Im finally going to be home soon.
Anne's POV
That brother of mine is a total idiot. I have no clue why Moctezumal said he's been the one we've been looking for, but I don't doubt that he's powerful. And Moctezumal is never wrong, so this boy is either hiding something, or is completely stupid.
As I led the way to to tribe, he followed me like a lost puppy. I rolled my eyes and internally scoffed. Was he this much of a pest in my previous life? You'd think he would be more alert for a two time war hero, even if he is drugged on a spell.
I cant ant wait to get rid of him! I tried to do it, against Moctezumal's orders, when we first met. The leader said that he should be alive, but he also said that this man was a hero, someone that would protect his friends, and was extremely handsome and trusting. The spell wasn't even in him yet when we tried to kill him. Three of my men crept up behind him and drew a knife or some other weapon. They charged, when those meddling friends of his killed the men in one strike. They're obviously very powerful; why pick this scrawny loser?
Speak of the devil, he caught up to me them and started asking questions about Mom and me. I answered as best i could, but I was getting fed up with this. We'd better get there soon...
