*Rachael's POV*
My birthday had passed, and my heart had that temporary sinking feeling that always polluted everything when excitement faded away.
I was just lucky that I had another thing to look forward to. A holiday that everyone could relate to and enjoy. Christmas. The primary reason why this was the happiest time of the year. And even though my next birthday was an entire year to come, Christmas was only 15 days away. 15 sessions of sleeping through the night.
For the reason that this was the most wonderful time of the year, I had put up my Christmas tree months ago. It stood tall and proud in a room built just for it, with a redstone lamp perched beautifully atop it.
And here I was, sitting at a table, combining individual spruce leaves with little bits of red mushroom.
All because of one fleeting thought and a coincidence lingering about the air.
See, I had just been running home from a quick wood-hunting trip. And with deceased trees comes the falling of the saplings, right?
Well… I felt that spark in my mind when I ran across a single spruce leaf that rested patiently atop the snow.
What could this leaf become? What was that one thing that was so notorious this time of year for sparking love? It involved green nature…
Oh, that's right! It was… that one thing that could have our heads coming closer together… his purple eyes entrancing me as a kiss was about to unfold…
I had shaken my head in my place, realizing that I was still out in a forest. Alone.
But the potential was suddenly clear to me. So was the fact that indeed… I had eyes for Scrooge.
It was called mistletoe, and I had to chop up bits and pieces of red mushrooms to get the right look.
As I made each and every little mistletoe plant, I considered where to hang them and the fact that Mark and Kim would be brought together at the very least. It was painful to see those two not married…
But then… there was still the chance I sought out. Regardless, this was a great idea.
Author's note: Thank you to DragonZeus1 for the inspiration! I apologize that this chapter was definitely shorter. I've had a long day, and it was more of a short thought type thing.
