Chapter 37: Capricco for Despair! The Impending Doom for Edolas!

Luffy walked in front of Natsu, glaring at the Dorma Anim. "What are you waiting for?!" He shouted. "Hit me with your best shot! Do it! I'M STANDING RIGHT HERE!"

"With pleasure!" Faust shouted. "You're not a dragon slayer! You're not even a wizard! I have no use for a pest like you!" The Dorma Anim lowered its foot down on Luffy and the straw hat captain caught it with hands, lifting it up so it won't squish him.

"It doesn't matter I could use magic or not! I won't give up no matter what! Because I'm the man who will be the King of the Pirates!" Luffy got back of his feet and with the strength he had left, pushed the Dorma Anim to the ground by its foot. "Don't ever underestimate me, got it!"

"You need to learn your place, you piece of filth!" Faust shouted as the eyes of the Dorma Anim glowed, creating an explosion where Luffy was standing and sending him flying.

"You're the one who's going to learn their place, old man!" Gajeel shouted, descending from the sky. "Because in the end, it will be on your knees!" Gajeel jammed iron club arm into the Dorma Anim's foot and into the ground as another iron club appeared out of the rubble.

Luffy looked down at the other dragon slayers and shouted, "Natsu, Wendy, roar at me with everything you got!"

"Ready Wendy?" Natsu asked.

"Ready!" Wendy nodded. "Sky Dragon's…"

"Fire Dragon's…"

"…Roar!" Natsu and Wendy's released their breath attack, combining them into one with Luffy inside it. Luffy spiraled down the current of fire and wind until he reached the center.

"Second Gear!" Luffy shouted, pumping the blood in his legs as stream came out of his body. "Now Gum-Gum...Jet…" He stretched both of his arms out and grabbed the Dorma Anim's shoulders.

"No, it can't be!" Faust shouted in disbelief. He was about to lose. "This can't end this way!"

"…Dragon Missle!" Luffy rode the current of Natsu and Wendy's magic and went the Dorma Anim. As he went the giant magic weapon, he grabbed Faust threw him to the ground as his second gear wore off. The Dorma Anim went down to one knee and exploded.

Natsu ran over to Luffy and helped him back up to his feet. Faust looked at Natsu and started to tremble in fear, feeling the power coming from the dragon slayer.

'This power…' Faust thought scared, seeing an actual dragon instead of the wizard in his mind. 'I can't believe I was so to possess something this terrifying.' Faust then looked over at Gajeel and Wendy, seeing as dragon as well. 'Someone, please help me!' Faust looked at them with wide, terrified eyes and collapsed. Smiles appeared Luffy and the dragon slayers' faces, knowing the battle is finally over.

"Alright, we took down the king!" Luffy shouted.

"This is the part where we get to yell checkmate, right?!" Natsu shouted.

"Actually, I can you're supposed to say before you take down the king." Wendy explained.

"Even I know that." Gajeel taunted. However, the celebration was cut short as the ground to shake beneath them.

"Hey, what's going on?" Luffy asked.

"Is it enemy reinforcements? I hope not. I used everything I had left in that fight."

"No, up there!" Wendy shouted. "Look!" The boy looked up at the sky and saw the floating islands starting to descend and crash to the ground.

"The floating islands are falling?" Natsu said. "What the heck?"

"Look, the islands…" Lucy said, looking up at the sky.

"They're falling." Nami said.

"Is the world coming an end or something?!" The two Grays shouted. The Edolas soldiers and the Edolas Fairy Tail stopped their battle and looked up at the sky in terror of the falling islands.

"This can't be good." Happy said worried.

"The islands above Edolas are dependent on our magic power to stay afloat." Chagot said, holding two exceeds close to her. "If they're falling, then our worst fear has been realized. Sorry, I wish that I could save you from the horrors you've endured today." Golden streams appeared out of the ground and headed to the sky.

"Am I hallucinating?" Zoro asked, looking at the streams.

"I see it too." Knightwalker said. "I'm sure of what to make of it." Then her eyes widen, feeling the energy radiating from the streams. "It can't be. Is that magic?"

More golden streams appeared in the Royal City and throughout Edolas, causing the citizens to look at them in wonder and confusion.

"So it's finally come to pass, has it?" Byro said, looking at the golden streams.

"Byro!" A voice shouted, getting Byro's attention. He looked behind his shoulder and saw Sugarboy, Hughes, and Raijin walking towards him.

"You three are still alive, I see."

"It's surprisingly beautiful." Sugarboy said.

"Beautiful? What the heck are you talking about man?" Hughes questioned.

"The magic power, of course. I guess I'm just shocked. I would've thought that the surging power would be freighting but it's quite serine."

Inside the palace, there was a huge stream of magic power in the center of the room that Mystogan and Panther Lily were in.

"Prince…" Panther Lily said.

"It's for the best, Lily." Mystogan said. "The people had always fought over power. I tried to warn them but they couldn't let go of temptation. So I shall remove that temptation. The last of our power will poor into the reverse anima. Once it reaches Earth Land, it will absorbed by the already abundant magic power there and become a part of nature. For the sake of Edolas's future, it must be brought to ruin."

The magic power continued to be drained from Edolas, it's even draining out of the magic weapons.

"My weapon isn't responding to my commands!" One of the soldiers said shocked. "What the heck is going on?!"

"They're not working!" A Fairy Tail wizard shouted. "What do we do now?! What's with our weapons?!"

"Everyone is freaking out." Franky said, looking at the Edolas natives.

"My weapon!" Edo-Sanji shouted. "No, what's happening?!"

"Just calm down man!" Sanji said to his counterpart.

"It's over." Coco said. "I guess that this is the end."

"It's pure magic power!" Wendy said.

"Are you sure?" Natsu questioned.

"This isn't good." Gajeel said. "What will happen if it all disappears?" The magic was drained from the floating islands as they continued to descend and crash to the ground below.

"Retreat!" One of the soldiers shouted as the soldiers dropped their weapons and ran away.

"I don't believe it." Lucy said, looking at the retreating soldiers.

"They gave up." Usopp said.

"Hey check it out, we just won!" Franky shouted.

"Whether we won or not doesn't matter!" Edo-Gray shouted. "We're doomed!"

"We can't use magic again." Edo-Elfman said scared. "How are we supposed to survive without it?"

"This will be a day of mourning for the rest of time." Edo-Cana said. "Or at least until we die."

"Maybe we're better off dead." Edo-Usopp said. "Without magic, we're all screwed."

"It's game over for us!" Edo-Jet shouted.

"We have to disband!" Edo-Droy shouted. "What good is a wizard guild without any magic?!"

"Guys, chill out." Lucy said, trying to calm everyone down. "Everything will be ok."

"How would you know?!" Edo-Lucy shouted. "I don't think you get that our magic is disappearing, all of it! Don't you see what that means for Fairy Tail?!"

"It's all over." Edo-Natsu said. "We've won the battle but lost the world. I guess you can call this a better sweet victory."

"We fought the good fight but lost everything in the end." Edo-Robin said.

"I was afraid that this would happen." Edo-Juvia said.

"Oh no!" Edo-Gray shouted. "I'm so scared, Juvia! What are we going to do now?!"

"I'm totally freaking out here!" One wizard shouted.

"There's got to be something that we can do!" Another wizard shouted.

"We can't stop the end of the world! I'm afraid that Edolas is done for!"

"You can't lose hope!" Carla shouted.

"It's unbelievable." Knightwalker said. "I lived enough to watch Edolas die like this. Would our strength endure? I doubt it."

"Zoro!" Erza shouted, running towards the green haired swordsman.

"Took you long enough to get here, didn't it?" Zoro said, looked at Erza.

The streets of the Royal City turned into chaos and the people panicked as more magic power from every street light and from home.

"I don't think we'll be escaping this fate." Edo-Ace said.

"There's nowhere to run." Edo-Gajeel said. "Our cherished world is dying."

"This is terrible." An elderly resistant of Edolas said, looking at the golden streams of magic. "Magic power is flowing from the land and into the heavens."

"Really grandma?" An Edolas said.

"This must be our punishment for defying the exceeds and their queen."

"So this it's begun." Raijin said.

"The beginning of the end, you mean." Hughes said. "What a way to go. But Edolas had a pretty good run, huh?"

"Perhaps, we shouldn't be so relaxed about this." Sugarboy said. "It's not just the Royal City but all of Edolas is withering before our eyes."

"A world without magic power. I can't even imagine it, can you?"

"That's a good question." Byro said. "I've never consider it to be a possibility. I doubt that I'm the only one. We face a calamity and I'm not sure that we'll survive it."

"I think we should head back to the Royal City." Wendy suggested.

"Any particular reason?" Natsu asked.

"If the citizens start panicking, a lot of people could get hurt. We need to go out and see if there's some way that we can help."

"Yeah and if we can this world's me, he'll know what to do." Gajeel added.

"Alright, let's go!" Luffy said as he and Natsu started to run with Wendy and Gajeel behind them.

As they were running, Gajeel looked up at the falling island in the sky. 'The end of the world, huh?' he thought.

"Prince, I agree that our dependence on magic has led to bloodshed." Panther Lily said. "But this…"

"I know." Mystogan said. "The people of Edolas have a hard road to shred. Many will find it difficult to adept to this changing world and could die. It is for that reason, a new leader must step forward and guide them. A new ruler for a brand new Edolas. One that can gather the desperate and frightened and then bravely lead them out of these dark times."

"And you're saying that this new leader is you?"

"No, I can't rule this world. Instead of growing with Edolas as its prince, I chose to resign in Earth Land. I have no right to its throne. We need a hero to unify the masses. The one who will vanquish the villain who caused this."

"You mean the sacrificial lamb?"

"Whoever eliminates the one who plunged this world into chaos is bound to become true hero to the people. That hero will unify the scattered survivors and become their ruler."

"So tell me, who will play the parts in this charade?!"

"Look, the writing is on the wall. I tried to overthrow the king with an armed rebellion, stripped the world of its power, and plunged it into chaos. It should be rather obvious that since I'm the man behind these terrible deeds, there's only one role I could possibly play. But you are respected on both sides. You can be exempt from prejudice. You are the hero. Slay me and become the ruler." Panther Lily looked at Mystogan with widen eyes.

"The world is coming an end, you know." Edo-Ace said. "What are you writing about?"

"I'm noting everything I see." Edo-Gajeel said. "We're witnessing history in the making here. It's our duty as citizens to record this for future generations."

Edo-Ace smirking and said, "Whatever you say."

"Take me before the populist and execute me for my crimes!" Mystogan demanded. "After that, they will follow you to any fate. As a captain of the Royal Army and a member of the exceed race, you can end the chaos and become their savor. You are the ruler that they need. Lead the people to a world without magic."

Panther Lily's expression turned from shock into anger. "Do you really think the only way to save this kingdom is for you to die?!" he shouted. "Answer me, prince!"
