Chapter XXXVII: Ascension.

Last Time.

"Are you Black Eagle?" The man sighed as he nodded before explaining the people left not wanting to be near his granddaughter who made their worst fears come to life. And she went into the canyon two years ago and went missing. "Let's try that area of the canyon where we wreaked, that's where she first came to us."

They went to the area and started to look around the stream, as the water started to rise. "Shit, that must be what she meant. Sh must be stuck somewhere where the water's rising for the reservoir." Naruto said before looking to Kurt. "Go back and let the others know where we are, we'll bring Danielle back with us when we find her."

Naruto picked Kitty up and went to where they crashed to see that the water created a pond. "Hold on, re-breathers." Naruto said unsealing two re-breathers for them. They jumped down in the water and Kitty phased them through the ground and into a cavern. "She's over there."

Naruto ran to a blue glow before seeing a sleeping Danielle glowing a bright blue. She woke up and smiled seeing Naruto and Kitty before Naruto grabbed her and disappeared with Kitty.

The Next Day, Xavier's School For The Gifted, Med Bay.

Naruto smiled as Danielle woke up as Kitty sat by her bed. "Hey, your grandfather is coming to pick you up." Naruto said as Charles explained to Kurt and Logan that Danielle's powers put her in hibernation for two years to keep her alive.

Now.

"You're going to have to talk to him. You know that, right?" Kurama asked as Naruto paced in the room. "Yeah, but I'll call him. Our meetings should be phone only." Naruto replied before picking up a phone. He sighed sadly as it rung.

"..."

"Wade? Hey, look it's Naruto, I need your help." Naruto said looking as another dome appeared in Egypt on TV.

"..."

"What do you mean no?! What the hell is more important than saving the world?"

"..."

"You're filming a sequel to a movie? Who in their right mind would go to a movie that you're in?"

"..."

"The first was a box office hit? Okay, look, I can pay you."

"..."

"You don't want to be introduced in the second to last chapter of the story? What the hell are you smoking?"

"..."

"The hell do you mean, 'the 90's show was better'? You know what, screw you!" Naruto yelled before reeling back as Wade yelled.

"Hell, the show that came after yours kicked all kinds of ass! I'm not talking about your original show Naruto, too many fillers! I'm talking about Wolverine and the-" Naruto hung up the phone before sighing. "That guy is seriously on some kind of drug." He got up and walked downstairs and to an elevator before putting on his coat.

Getting to the bottom floor, he saw the adults, Jean in her costume, Cyclops, Emma, and Phoenix interrogating Mesmero about Apocalypse's plan. Mesmero explained that Apocalypse was going to trigger the X-Gene in everyone on the planet, to turn as many people as he could into Mutants, but most wouldn't survive the process.

Charles grabbed him and went through his mind seeing the pyramids change and that Apocalypse is ready to act. Charles and Storm went to the jet before Narutyo and Jean went to him. "You're going to confront Apocalypse, aren't you?"

"Look Charles, I know first hand that doesn't work out all the time." Naruto said crossing his arms. "But I know you're stubborn, so I'll go with you." Jean look to him to protest before Naruto raised his hand. "If it goes badly, I can get him out of there." Naruto walked on the X-Jet and left with Storm and Charles.

Egypt.

The X-Men landed as a purple, high technicle pirymid was under the Spynx Charles wheeled out just as Apocolypse floated out in a new form.

He's taller, muscular, has blue skin with light blue circuit lines on his body. He's wearing a metal device arond his neck with tubes connected to his metal gloves, boots and a grey loincloth.

Naruto watched Charles telepathically talk to him before being floated up and screamed in pain. Storm flew out causing Naruto to curse. "Storm!" Naruto ran out just as Storm was hit as well and they both disappeared like Magneto. "You son of a bitch!" Naruto ran, and was picked up before being engulphed by a sphere.

Suddenly, the Sphere appeared again and Naruto in his Rikudō Sennin Mōdo (Six Paths Sage Mode) came out. "I can't believe you would do that!" Apocalypse, getting over his surprise, threw Naruto to the Jet, then threw him down, before lifting the Jet and dropped it on top of Naruto.

BOOM!

Apocalypse turned and went in the pyramid, failing to notice a hand push through the wreakage. Naruto pushed out and stumbled forward before glaring at the pyramid and flashed away.

Xavier's School For The Gifted.

Naruto flashed inside the underground room before being tackled. "It's okay, girls... But we have bigger problems... The others are alive." They stared at him in shock. "Apocalypse is forcing control chips onto, or rather into them." Naruto said pointing to the screen as Apocalypse brought out four people.

"No..." Emma said seeing Charles walking, alongside Storm, Mystique, and Magneto all with collars around their necks and circuit lines over their skin. They have rips in their clothing and black around their green glowing eyes.

He ordered them to protect his pyramids and all of them got on purple flaming horses and rode off, Mystique going inside the Sphinx. Several reports showed the others appearing from portals and attacked the Sentinel Robots with stronger powers; Mystique, able to become more than one bird as she created a murder of Crows, and Charles creating, energy weapons.

"Hey! That's my power!" Psylocke said pointing to the screen showing Charles fight. "OK, gather everyone you can to help fight." Wolverine said having everyone but Naruto and Rogue leave. They followed Wolverine out to a jet.

Egypt, Spinx.

"Okay teams, this is it... Everything you've ever learned about yourselves, your strengths, and your limits... It all comes down to this very moment. We're the world's last, best hope to stop this madman. So we're going to trash those pyramids any way we can! No matter who we gotta go through to do it."

Wolverine said to Nightcrawler, Emma, and Cyclops as they landed. Emma noticed he had his earpiece on to talk to the other teams.

Egypt.

'Professor, listen to me. Apocalypse has somehow taken control of you. He's making you go against everything you've ever believed in, everything you devoted your life to! You will be destroying millions of lives!' Jean said telapathicly to Charles who was sitting on a Sentinel's head as Paladin ran over with both of his spirits out.

Pixie and Polaris protecting him from anything as he helped Jean with the telephathy.

"Jean! Look out!" Paladin yelled as Charles turns and blasts her with a metal bolt, knocking her into the sand.

Boom-Boom, Colossus and Jamie ran from nearby the plane while Magma flames up and shoots fire at the ground, causing huge magma blasts to erupt from it. One erupts underneath the Sentinel head Xavier is sitting on, but he leapt out-of-the-way in time to avoid it. "Here, tin grin. Shot-put this wrecking ball up to that guy.

Tabitha said as she hands Colossus an oversized bomb, and he hurls it at Xavier, hitting him.

China.

Storm is shooting lightning at the ground as Evan runs in to try and reason with her. "Storm, please! Let us help you!" Storm causes heavy hail to rain down where Evan is, but Beast tackles him out of the way. Iceman creates an ice shield around them to protect them from the hail. Berserker walks over and charges up, firing electricity at Storm.

It doesn't effect her, and she retaliates with lightning, but Ray is able to dodge it and fires at her again. Their blasts match power and Ray leaps under the ice shield with the others. "Don't hurt her! She's a victim in this, just like we are!"

"We just need to try to break her out of whatever's controling her Spyke, but she's not holding back!" X23 said running from the woods with Lady Deathstrike.

Mexico.

"Father! Why are you doing this?!" Wanda asked her father before Magneto lifts up the hands of fallen Sentinels with his powers. He proceeds to slam a piece down on top of Wanda. Wanda screams, but then notices that Shadowcat is hugging her leg, and phased her through the Sentinel debris.

"That's not your father, at least not anymore." Shadowcat said standing up

Magneto takes a bunch of Sentinel parts and reforms them into a whole Sentinel, although the thing looks and moves like a zombie. Kitty, Wanda, Robert and Alex gasp and back away from it as it starts stomping toward them.

Sphinx.

Wolverine, Emma, and Cyclops walk down the stairs leading into the Sphinx, while Nightcrawler leaps back and forth along the walls. All four of them are being very cautious. Wolverine leaps into the main room and looks around.

"Can you sense her?" Cyclops asked Wolverine who shook his head. "No. Apocalypse is amplifying her powers, so she could be standing right next to us and I wouldn't know it." Nightcrawler looks into a puddle and watches it ripple as the Sphinx trembles. "Feel that? Something big just powered up in this place."

Nightcrawler said before the puddle suddenly shapes itself to reveal Mystique. She grabs Nightcrawler by the arm and hurls him into Wolverine.

The two of them crash into a pillar, which collapses. Cyclops turns and shoots a hole right through her, but it heals right up. She morphs into a swarm of bats, which Cyclops and Wolverine try to hit, while Nightcrawler teleports. "Shit!" Emma cursed using her skin as protection.

Wolverine leaps to the ground and Nightcrawler reappears, whom he drags to the ground with him. Cyclops begins shooting around, trying to hit the bats.

In his control room, Apocalypse can feel the rumbling from Cyclops' blasts, but he lets nothing deter him. He waves his arm across a panel, which lights up and shows holographic images of the three pyramids. He makes them begin to glow.

Mexico.

Magneto looks back as the top of the pyramid begins glowing. He turns and makes the Zombie Sentinel prepare to attack Wanda with it's claw, but Sunspot grabs the claw, saving her. "Wanda! You're going to have to forget he's your father or we're going to lose this! And we can't lose-Oooph!"

Kitty gets hit with a Sentinel piece, knocking her out. Wanda glares at Magneto and uses her hex on him, disabling his powers. The Zombie Sentinel that was standing in front of Alex and Roberto suddenly collapses back into scrap. Kitty begins to wake up just as the glowing part of the pyramid shoots off into space.

"Oh no, what's happening?"

China.

The pyramid is glowing before shoots off into space behind Storm. "Where's it going?" Spyke asked looking up. "My guess is he has to have the pyramids in the higher atmosphere in order to affect the entire planet." Beast replied reaching for his comminucator.

Egypt.

Xavier lands in front of Colossus and the others as his pyramid begins to shoot off as well.

Up above, the pyramids break up into little triangles around the earth, forming a grid.

Jean lifts herself off the ground as Amara stares at the ray of light coming from the pyramid. Colossus, Paladin, Polaris, Pixie, Tabitha and Jamie rejoin them and look on as well. "We're too late!" Jean yelled out looking up.

In Apocalypse's control room, a projection of the grid is above him. Three Sentinels appear on the projection, and he zooms in to see the Sentinels flying in space.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.

Fury is standing on the balcony watching the grids. A soldier runs up to him, breaking his thoughts. "Sir, as ordered, our last three Sentinels are pursuing the pyramids." Fury nods and turns around, knocking on the door. Rogue opens it and he walks in seeing Kage with her a well.

They see the grid around the earth again and all three Sentinels open up their huge chest cannons and begin firing on one piece of the pyramid. It has a forcefield, but they continually shoot at it until they break through the field.

China.

Storm flies down in front of the light emanating from the pyramid and is hit by one of Iceman's ice blasts. She becomes completely encapsulated in ice and falls to the ground. Beast and Bobby appraoch the pyramid while Spyke goes to check on Storm.

Beast puts a hand on his comminicator. "Listen, it's not over! Those pyramids in the sky are probably orbital relays, just destroy the base units that power them!"

"Understood!"

"Got it!"

Evan hears this and runs over to fling some flaming spikes at the base of the pyramid. Storm breaks out of the ice with a burst of lightning, looking angry. She begins to shoot lightning out of her mouth and eyes into the air. A fierce wind begins to blow that sends Berserker, Beast and Spyke flying.

Mexico.

Sunspot runs and leaps through the Sentinel which has suddenly reformed. He takes a piece of it off and hurls it at the Sentinel, but Magneto uses his powers to turn the piece around and clock Roberto with it. He falls to the ground and reverts to his non-powered up state.

Behind Magneto, Kitty phases Alex up through the ground. Alex turns and blasts the pyramid with his solar rays. He takes a chunk out of it, but the two of them gasp as they see the shadow of the Zombie Sentinel appear behind them.

Egypt.

Xavier is under a barrage of fireworks, and covers his eyes. Tabitha is feeding an entire army of Jamie's bombs and they're firing them at him with slingshots. Colossus goes running past them and begins smashing on the base of the pyramid. Xavier shoots a mental bolt through a large amount of Jamie's, destroying them.

He then flies down behind Colossus and blasts him in the back. Colossus weakly tries to pound on the base, but collapses. Fire is blasted at Xavier next, courtesy of Amara. But he creats a force field around him. He blasts her with a psionic bolt, taking her out as well.

In the heli-jet, Jean has fastened a Cerebro helmet onto her head. "Sorry Professor, but I have to do this." She flies out to meet him in the air. He tries to shoot her with a psionic bolt, but she blocks it and shoots him back, knocking him through the air. "Linking with Cerebro will help me even the odds!"

The two of them face off and Xavier makes a psychic projection of himself with huge scythes for arms leap out at Jean. She gasps and makes a psychic projection of herself with a huge shield to block his attack.

Sphinx.

Wolverine, Cyclops, Emma and Nightcrawler are now running away from the bats. Nightcrawler leaps over and teleports them all behind a door, which they slam shut on the bats. "We're running out of time!" Cyclops yelled to Wolverine who sniffs around "Nightcrawler! Scout the other side!"

"Be right back!" Nightcrawler runs at the door on the other side and teleports. Cyclops and Wolverine begin to walk up, waiting for him to return. "Come on, where are ya?" Wolverine asked ater a moment

Inside, Nightcrawler lays unconscious on the ground in Apocalypse's control room, with him standing over Nightcrawler. He turns around and goes back to his seat.

Outside, Wolverine looks to Cyclops. "Cyclops, blow the doors!" Cyclops nodded before falling down. Wolverine turns around to see Mystique drop Scott on the ground. She then morphs her arms into two large blades and swings at him.

At the grid in outer space, the three Sentinels manage to destroy one piece of it. They then move onto the next, destroying it as well.

Apocalypse views this on his holographic projection and is none too pleased.

Mexico.

A huge holographic image of Apocalypse's head appears. "Magneto!" Magneto seems to instinctively know what to do and flies up into space, leaving a beaten Angel, Havok, Sunspot, Shadowcat and Scarlet Witch behind him. Scarlet Witch groans and manages to get up. "Huh? Kitty, this is our chance, the base unit is unprotected."

Shadowcat just lays there. "We can-we can destroy it." She said shaking Shadowcat again "Kitty?"

Up in space, Magneto makes a magnetic shield around himself and then destroys the Sentinels in about three seconds by mashing them together.

Back in Mexico, Wanda is using her powers on the beam projecting into space from the base unit. She strains and it begins to weaken, but then goes back to full power. She drops to her knees from exhaustion and then screams as Magneto lands down in front of her. He begins to pick up Sentinel pieces with his powers again.

"Father, please. Don't." She weakly said as Magneto slams the pieces down on her, only for her to disappear. Quicksilver sped by and saved her at the last moment. "Pietro?" Quicksilver nodded at her. "Hey, sis. You look like you could use a hand." Toad, Avalanche and Blob come walking up to them, with a sleek jet behind them.

"So we bummed a jet, got lost, and still somehow managed to get here." Toad said before the jet they arrived in begins moving on its own and heads right for them. Blob jumps in the way though, manipulating his own weight to stop it. Then he picks it up and slams it down.

"Avalanche, bring 'em down." Quicksilver said as Avalanche punches his fists into the earth, sending a tremor in Magneto's direction. Kitty opens her eyes and sees Magneto buried under trees, and rocks.

Egypt.

Apocalypse in the Eye of Ages powers it up. "And the evolution... begins." A bunch of lights shoot out of Apocalypse and shoot upwards hitting a bunch of points on the holographic earth grid. He then begins to transfer his DNA through the lights, creating a huge black void around the earth.

Storms rages around the earth in various locations.

Back at the Sphinx, Apocalypse is groaning and seemingly going through a lot of pain from the process.

On the other side of the door, Mystique is attempting to skewer Wolverine with blades on her hands, but he leaps out-of-the-way. He swings at her and slashes her through the chest, but the wound simply heals. She then retaliates by smacking him and throwing him down a hole.

"OK, bitch... Now you gotta deal with me." Emma said, her skin turning into diamonds.

Egypt.

Xavier and Jean are still floating in the air as their mental projections fight. Jean's was swinging a battle staff, but she brings up the shield again to block one of his strikes. Xavier and Jean both begin to breathe heavily from the strain of this mental battle.

His projection leaps at her, but her shield expands and a bright flash of light ensues. Xavier's mental projection returns to his body and he falls to the ground. Jean does the same. He then makes his projection appear again. Only for Paladin to block it with Juliet.

Mexico.

Toad leaps on a tree branch as the other Brotherhood members crowd around him. "Did we win?" Quicksilver looks down at him. "Right. Don't you ever learn?" Toad just sighed. "Oh, yeah. We never win." The tail end of their jet rips off the plane and flies at them, spinning like a blade.

They all run out-of-the-way as it slashes through the debris, freeing Magneto. He flies out, looking angry.

China.

Storm holds her hands to the sky, sending lightning everywhere, knocking Beast and Iceman away. When the lightning hits Berserker however, it simply serves to power him up. He fires it back at Storm, sending her flying and she slams down onto a rock.

He runs after her, all charged, preparing to finish her off, but she makes it rain down on him. He screams rather painfully as he short-circuits and drops to the ground. "Wolverine... ugh... we're not gonna make it..." Beast said into his communicator. "Don't give up yet... we got one play... left."

Sphinx.

Mystique runs up and turns into a bunch of cobras, which all latch onto Emma and bite her as Wolverine runs over.

Outside the Sphinx, a S.H.I.E.L.D. heli-jet lands, and Rogue shoves open the door. She turns to look at Leech, his mother, Naruto, Psylocke, and Cannonball. "It's okay, Mrs. Leech. This is as far as Dorian has to go." Rogue leans down to Dorian and he crouches back in fear. Fury, sitting on a crate watches in silence.

"Please, don't be scared. Like I said, the ability you have to shut down energy around you will help save a lot of people. I'm just gonna borrow it for a while. Are you ready?" Rogue asked as Naruto steps out. Dorian looks up at his mother, who smiles. He nods and she takes his power, knocking him out.

She looks at Fury, who nods. Cannonball puts his arm around Rogue and rockets them up into the air at the Sphinx as Naruto flew up with Psylocke.

Inside, Wolverine leaps back out of the hole, ripping the cobras off of him. He runs past Scott's unconscious body for the door, but Mystique turns into a panther and leaps at him. Suddenly, she's hit with an energy wave and reverts to her normal form, falling to the floor.

Wolverine looks back to see Rogue, Naruto, and Psylocke there, Rogue being the one who shut down Mystique with Dorian's powers. She begins walking to the door and Logan leaps over slicing it open. Rogue and Naruto leaps through the opening. He goes to follow, but Mystique grabs him by the leg and hurls him to the ground.

"You ain't so tough without your powers, are ya?"

On the other side of the door, Rogue is standing by Kurt's unconscious body. She blasts Dorian's power at Apocalypse, stopping his DNA infusion to the world.

Mexico.

The light that's coming from the base of the pyramid shorts out. Magneto prepares to strike the five Brotherhood members, but then just falls right to the ground.

China.

The strange device Apocalypse was using to control Storm falls off of her.

Egypt.

Jean is laying on the ground. She opens her eyes to see Xavier begin falling to the ground as Paladin was standing in front of her with the others. She stops Charles in mid-air with her powers and runs over to grab him as a shooting star go by in the background.

Sphinx.

Mystique fall and Logan catches her. The mind-control implants snap off of her as well.

Insiode, Rogue walks up to Apocalypse, who is still laying in the Eye of Ages. "You've used us for the last time." Apocalypse opens his eyes and grabs Rogue's arm, but Naruto grabs him and punches him in the face before closing the lid shut on Apocalypse. He starts slamming on the inside, trying to break free, but Logan leaps over and lands on top of it.

"Rogue! Turn the power back on!" Rogue does as told, and the Eye of Ages begins to power up with Apocalypse still trapped inside. Wolverine jumps over and slices the controls. "Let's go!" Naruto yelled running away.

They dash and leap out of the Eye of Ages, right before it warps Apocalypse away. "Where'd it go?" Rogue asked as Naruo held her clos by the waist. "I don't know. Hopefully it just fell through the cracks of time. Never to be seen again." Wolverine said as he picks up Nightcrawler, who is attempting to get up.

"For some reason I don't think we'll be that lucky."

Outside the Sphinx, more shooting stars are going through the sky. Emma is helping Cyclops walk and they look up at the sky. "Do you think Apocalypse was stopped in time?" Cyclops asked Wolverinewho was looking up. "We cut it close, but uh, yeah."

Naruto and Rogue are helping Kurt walk out. "You did it Rogue. The girl who shut herself off from the world just saved it." Rogue sighed at that. "I wish I could say I did it for the world." Mystique walks up behind them, looking rather sad. "Rogue. Kurt. I just want you to know that the things I did... all the things I did... were because I-!"

"Save it Mystique." Nightcrawler said before Rogue spoke up. "Even you don't believe your excuses, so just... leave us alone." (1.) The two of them turn and walk off. Mystique gives them a sort of angry look before Naruto puts a hand on her shoulder. "Guys, you just got a second chance with yor mother. Don't sqaunder it. I would give anything in the world for mine to come back."

Mexico.

Magneto wakes up and looks at Pietro and Wanda, who look very concerned for him. He puts his arms around them and they walk off. Blob is carrying Angel over his shoulder. Toad, Roberto and Alex are the last heading for the jet.

China.

Storm is rubbing Evan's cheek as Ray, Beast and Bobby watch. Bobby gives a thumb's up.

Egypt.

Tabitha wraps herself around Naruto's arm. "Wow, that was an awesome party guys."

She puts her other arm around Amara and Jamie joins as the four of them walk back to the jet. Jean lifts Xavier up with her powers and she hugs him. "Professor..." Charles interupts her. "Thank you, Jean."

Xavier's School For The Gifted, Later.

Xavier is sitting in front of Wolverine, Spyke, Storm, Sunspot, Berserker, Iceman, Cannonball, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Blob, Toad, Avalanche, Shadowcat, Beast, Jean, Magma, Cyclops, Angel, Boom-Boom, Kage, and the others before speaking.

"Thanks to you all, we have averted catastrophe. It was not without its price, however. But steel is forged through fire, and like it we have been made stronger. We are prepared for what the future brings. I know this, because I have glimpsed into the mind of Apocalypse. Many challenges still await us."

He projects his thoughts to them showing several images. They see a lot of protesters outside the white house with signs.

"But I have seen some who were our enemies become friends."

Next, they see Magneto in the Danger Room magnetically move a ball around. Rhane leaps through the air and catches it, then slides down an ice slide to the other New Mutants. Sam, Bobby, Robert, Amara, Jamie and Jubilee are all present.

"I saw my X-Men grow and change."

Next, they are shown a much older Beast, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, X23, Shadowcat, Kage, Rogue and Storm, all in new X-Men uniforms.

"And of course, I saw that some people never truely change."

Wanda, with slightly longer hair is standing in front of a S.H.I.E.L.D. sign, another belt added to her costume and a tear on her side. And then Avalanche, Blob, Toad and Pyro crows around her as Pietro zips in front of of them.

Then hundreds of Sentinels flew through the sky.

"But one thing was clear... That no matter what awaits us, terrible or wonderous... My X-Men will always be there, ready. And of that, I am proud."

They all group up for a picture. Naruto having his arm around Jean and Rachel as Rogue leaned back against him and the others stood beside him, showing their engagement rings.

1. Did anyone else feel like they missed an episode when that premiered? I understand Rogue but Kurt? The episode Cajun Spice he was mad at Rogue, then when Mystique comes back, he hates her as well?

Ok I have nothing to really say as anything I can think up will be for the epilogue I'll be posting to finish this story out, thanks for everything over the past 3 years.
