The whole day seemed to flash by like a minute. Emma was quickly introduced to her representative from Apex Sciences, she would help her come up and practice a speech that would "move the nation". She also met her bodyguard who stood by her at all times during the coaching from the PR rep.
She had been instructed to keep to herself in her hotel room, the same with her father and Hunter. Although her father was not going to make a public statement, he was a key witness to the events that happened and took place and could equally be more traumatized from the island that InGen once ran.
Emma's small hotel room contained one single television that was not plugged in and had no wall plug near it. Even though she thought she'd be completely bored with the lack of television to calm her she had consistently been entertained through her phone and through Myra and Dimitri, her bodyguard (although her time spent with them was brief). She had no other means of entertainment other than to make small talk with the two in her room at the time.
She learned that the strawberry blonde Myra was just a PR representative for Apex Sciences, and that they've never had a large scandal like this before so she was nervous.
And although, Dimitri (who was nice enough to accompany her when she took Roscoe out to use the bathroom), looked like a terrifying individual who would kill anyone in their sleep, turned out to be an easy going guy who made for interesting conversation. He was tall and handsome with a playful glint to his eyes, but he was there for work and not for play. No matter how many times she had asked for his opinion on something he would stand still and silent, almost as if he didn't want to be there.
Things got especially interesting when Dimitri and Myra would bicker. It was almost as if they had known each other before coming to the island. Perhaps they did, perhaps they didn't, Emma didn't want to pry. Bickering is what they had been doing all morning since Myra walked in, and even though Emma was nervous about her time being spent on television later on she was more interested in what they were conversing about.
She took a bite of the biscuit with jelly Myra had brought to her as a peace offering and a good luck token. She rubbed the top of Roscoe's head as she watched their intense discussion continue. "So you're proposing she goes up there and just sit in silence with a constipated look on her face while she tries not to cry?" Myra spat out, glaring at the guard who impishly smirked in return.
He looked at the ceiling trying to think of a good way to explain himself without getting flustered. "I mean, do you like watching people cry on tv?" He retorted with a shrug of his shoulders. Myra crossed her arms across her chest and shook her head. "So she has to recollect her horrible memories and go through all the trauma and not cry about it? It hurts. Have you ever had something traumatic like that happen to you?"
"No, luckily I've been smart enough to never get myself abducted."
"Hey," Emma warned with a mouth full of food.
"Sorry," Dimitri absentmindedly apologized, glancing over to her for a moment then returning his glare towards Myra. He opened his mouth to continue arguing but glanced back towards Emma in a double take. She stared back at him, chewing her biscuit. "Are you actually listening to us?" He questioned, his voice filled with audacity.
Emma shrugged and finished chewing her biscuit. "Well you guys are arguing in my room. Plus I've been told I'm good at starting arguments out of thin air." She replied coyly, not breaking eye contact while she bit off another piece of her biscuit.
Dimitri's gaze was annoyed yet somewhere in those eyes hid the slightest emotion of being impressed. "Okay, well, my grandma was always convinced that the devil was on earth in a human form, and I think it might be her." He stated to Myra, his index finger pointing over towards Emma who shrugged. "No offense Satan."
"None taken."
Myra pinched the bridge of her nose in irritation as she listened to the unprofessional banter between Dimitri and Emma. "Leave." She instructed the bodyguard in an annoyed voice, pointing towards the door.
Dimitri eyed her for a moment, almost like he was challenging her authority but reluctantly gave in to the order. "I can't be here anyways, there a bad aura." He replied, walking towards the hotel door in a huff. Emma bounced up off the bed to stand up and catch him before he left. "Wait!" She called out, grabbing his attention as the door swung open.
She sheepishly liked towards the ground then back into his eyes. "How is he?" She asked feebly, leaning from one side to another anxiously. He looked at her sympathetically, even though she had come off as rude she did have a heart that still cared for the father of her child. She had asked him specifically to ask the guard who was watching over him on how he's doing and how he's taking this.
Dimitri smiled briefly. "He's fine. He's worried about you but he knows you're safe." He informed her, watching her worried look turn calm as a small smile placed itself on her lips. She thanked him as he shut the door to give the girls privacy.
Knowing that Owen was safe was all that mattered to her in this time although they were no longer together, she didn't understand why she still loved him. Perhaps the break up was just too new for the love to go away. It can't disappear in the snap of someone's fingers like she had hoped it to.
"Miss Grant," Myra called to her client. Hesitantly, Emma returned her thoughts to earth and turned to face the short woman, who had taken the liberty to make herself comfortable in the swivel chair across from the burgundy covered bed. "Let's practice your speech, shall we?"
"Big deep breaths," Myra instructed Emma and Dimitri as they entered the elevator to go to the conference room. Emma's stomach was flipping around uneasily as she descended in an elevator with Myra, who was now talking about how the conference room was already filled with reporters, and Dimitri who stood silently behind them, giving Emma a sympathetic look since she was paler than the moon.
As the elevator came to a stop, Emma couldn't help but let out a soft sigh of nervousness. Even though they were down the hallway from the room where she'd be accusing InGen in she could hear all the voices in the room echoing throughout the hallway.
Dimitri, who had seemed to grow rather fond of her, pushed on the small of her back for reassurance as they made their way down the hallway. Although, the supportive and brotherly nature Dimitri was showing Emma it didn't help her feel any less anxious than what she was. She had to constantly keep reminding herself that if anything went wrong he was there to protect her.
As they approached the door, she noticed that there were two individuals standing outside of it. She recognized one to be Hunter and the other must've been his representative. They seemed to be in a deep discussion as the trio arrived to stand across from them. "Adair." Myra greeted her co-worked cordially.
The man seemed to be a tad bit anxious as well as he ran his fingers through his caramel colored hair. He waved at her as a greeting before sighing out in frustration. Emma seemed a bit taken back by this nervousness, Myra had informed her that Adair was the head of the public relations department but she seemed to be handling the situation better than he was.
Her eyes wandered over to Hunter who seemed to be taking the situation better than she was, his demeanor was calm and collective, his eyes were almost filled with eagerness as he glanced towards the door. The hum of everyone excited him.
"Remember what we practiced." Myra simply stated under her breath before entering the room where the voices seemed to beam. She was taken back, she didn't know they were entering without any signal. She glanced back at Dimitri who nodded his head to follow Myra, quickly stepping forward to force her to go.
She almost tripped as she tried to walk towards the stage, the sounds of everyone's voices shouting at once and the bright flashes of light overwhelmed her senses. "Jesus," She said under breath. It was like the reporters were animals, begging and clamoring for air only just to get a side statement from her or Hunter.
It's okay, she reminded herself over and over again in her head as she climbed up the small stage to take a seat next to Myra. Hunter placed himself promptly next her smirking at the room, playing pretty for the cameras. He had the face for it.
Dimitri stood behind her, staring off into the crowd, a firm hand gripping on the back of her chair as if he was also on edge being up in front of all these people. Adair, Hunter's representative, stepped up to the podium to settle everyone down before he began speaking, in what she picked up to be a slight Scottish accent, about InGen and how they negatively effected Jurassic World and put Masrani Global into debt.
She peered over to the large monitor on the side of the room to see an older woman wearing nothing but white with the same destained and bored expression on her face. The text at the bottom of the screen read, "Lorelei Galindo, InGen Representative". She wondered if that was his wife and if it was she wondered how someone could love a man like that.
Everything Adair was saying seemed to be fuzzy to Emma, the bright lights and warm bodies in the room made her feel overly hot. She could barely pay attention to anything that was going on. All she knew is that Adair was speaking and that even though the reporters were told to be quiet she could still hear the shutters of cameras closing. She had to stare down at her thumbs which were starting to grow damp with a nervous sweat.
As a hand touched her shoulder she jumped in surprise, peering over to see Myra with a focused look on her face. "Tell them truth." She instructed with a determined voice, earning a shaky nod from her client. She retracted her hand from her shoulder and wiped the excess sweat off on her chair. "And don't faint."
"Without further ado, please welcome our first testimony and crucial witness, Emma Grant." Adair's accented voice introduced her, sending her into a complete panic.
She looked towards Myra and Dimitri for reassurance, Myra didn't make eye contact with her but Dimitri nodded his head once again to make her feel comfortable in being in the spotlight. She nervously turned and clutched onto Adair's hand that he had offered to help her step up to the podium. "Good luck," He whispered to her before turning and taking a seat next to Hunter.
As she latched on to the podium she could feel her heartbeat within her fingertips. A nervous sweat seemed to overcome her as her eyes gazed around the room at the reporters, each waiting for her statement. Her eyes seemed to catch a glimpse of the InGen representative intently glaring at her from the large monitor across the room. No doubt she had James on speed dial.
Suddenly she felt grateful to have Dimitri off to the side of her, not only to protect her from any dangers but to keep her from fainting. She scanned over the crowd again, recognizing the familiar eyes of her sister and father, along with Felix's.
Her eyes seemed to be drawn instinctively next to Felix's side. She felt even more relieved knowing she was staring into the eyes of Owen. Although they were no longer together, she knew he wouldn't let anything happen to her. She was in a room filled with friends and family. Her heart seemed to swell over with emotion, calming her nerves down as she took a deep breath before speaking into the microphone attached to the podium.
"I know it may seem odd for me to be here, to have the knowledge that I work here with the tyrannosaurus, and for me to be pregnant while doing so. I don't look like the type of person I'm supposed to be. I don't look like the type of person who was abducted, betrayed, or abused. It was a fun day in the beginning before everything happened. I was with my family for the day, when I had to go feed Rexie, the tyrannosaur that I and my partner had been observing for the past few months. I was ambushed and attacked by two InGen employees, Vivian McNally and Miles Gallagher, and I was drug all the way to Isla Sorna or site B, where they kept me locked up in a cage for leverage for their attack of Jurassic World.
During my time there not only was I negated the option for food or water, I was abused. I was choked, I was punched, I was gagged. All while being pregnant. I learned that they created another hybrid much like the one that destroyed Jurassic World, they called it the Diablous Rex and InGen had hoped to use it in privately owned militaries all over the world. They had a pack of velociraptors that could slice through anything and anyone, I would say there was at least 25 to 30 of them. All angry. They captured the last spinosaurus, which was well over the size of the tyrannosaur that we are currently holding.
They're intentions on invading Isla Nublar were to take the rest of the velociraptor pack trained by Owen Grady and Vivian McNally herself, as well as to take our tyrannosaur. All to use in their militarized dinosaur units. They did eventually invade our island. We lost good people, people's lives that are worth ten times of what InGen costs. Why they would need to use me as leverage is far beyond me, why James Young, the new owner of InGen, wants me dead is also beyond me seeing as that not only would he take my life but he would take the life of an innocent unborn infant. We lost a lot that day but, mark my words, InGen will pay for what they have done. For me, to the men they lost, to everyone that calls this island home."
She left the podium with a round of applause resonating from within the room which made her feel accomplished. It was like a flood of relief overcame her body, she felt limp and relaxed as she returned to her seat, grinning.
Myra gripped on to her hand tightly as she sat back down congratulating her on her speech. "You were perfect." She complimented in a hushed voice as Adair took the podium again. Emma looked up to Dimitri who smiled down at her, then she gazed into the crowd to see her father smiling as well, she had done him proud.
Her eyes then lingered on to Owen, the person who pushed her into doing this only to be surprised by his gaze. He hadn't taken his eyes off of her since she entered the room. He smiled and gave her a thumbs up, making her smile even wider.
She watched as Hunter was called up to the podium to recite the speech he and Adair had worked on the night before, the InGen Representative intently staring at the traitor. She even had the audacity to criticize him and his work with InGen.
Emma rolled her eyes, she couldn't wait for this conference to be over. She knew that once Apex Sciences rolled the footage of Isla Rebelde that the conference would be over. She hoped. But during Hunter's speech the second monitor in the room was completely black and void of anything. No sparks that indicated that it was on, no noise. Was this InGen's doing? Were they able to get the footage?
Hunter stepped back down from the podium, earning another loud round of applause from everyone in the room including herself. He seemed to bask in the glory, even as he sat back down and let Adair take the stand again. His fifteen minutes of fame had gone to his head. "Where was the footage?" Emma questioned Myra with a hint of worry in her voice. She had every right to be. She was promised that there would be footage and an arrest as soon as it was shown so she wouldn't have to live in fear. She began to wonder if it was a hoax Elon had just made up so she would spill the beans to the world.
Her stomach was doing splits once again, her relaxed stated was far from gone. Myra shook her head and pointed up towards the podium, grabbing her attention. Emma whipped her head to see Adair walking back to his seat after introducing a new face that she had never seen before, yet it looked so familiar.
She was a blonde woman, not much older than Owen, her bangs were splayed across her forehead and she had an essence of confidence that flowed through her. If she hadn't have been up at the podium, Emma would've missed her completely in her dazed out state. She wanted to throttle herself, she knew her. She could figure out how. Then she started to speak.
"My grandfather created and founded InGen to captivate the world by science and entertainment. No matter how many people thought he was crazy, he made a park full of extinct animals come to life. Now almost everyone has seen a living breathing dinosaur and we've made it possible for people to study these animals, people invest in their who life's work to these animals. To see what Mr. Young has done to my grandfathers company is disgraceful and not what John Hammond had envisioned. Even after his passing his money has still continued to be used by InGen for "scientific purposes" but as we can see on the monitors,"
The crowd turned their attention towards the large monitor next to the InGen Representative to see a live eye footage of Isla Rebelde. The monitors displayed nothing but a pack of stray raptors, at least six of them, in a small paddock. Some were being shocked by the handlers that were wearing orange suits that read "InGen" in bold black letters on the backs of the uniform. It made Emma cringe and she could tell just by glancing at Owen that he was irritated judging by how clenched his jaw looked.
"InGen has been doing some illegal genetics studies of their own with dinosaurs. As we know only Jurassic World and their private investor only have the right to clone the dinosaurs, we see that InGen has been doing a little cloning themselves thanks to Dr. Henry Wu, the man who created the Indominous Rex mind you, which is highly illegal. Also it looks like members of the security team were looking to take some of the raptors cloned for project IBRIS with the intent to weaponize them as by this message sent from the later Vic Hoskins to an anonymous arms dealer."
The screen faded from the live eye footage to a screenshot of sorts, blacking out the anonymous person's name to reveal the messages that they shared with Vic Hoskins, head of the InGen security.
"My grandfathers life was invested in this park, his money was still in use for InGen even after his death. Now, being the one of the inheritance reciprocates, my brother being another and condoning my actions as well, I Alexis Murphy, hereby withdraw any inclusion of John Hammond's assets from the InGen company."
