Niall Warburton and the Conundrum of the Mummy

Five students including Niall Warburton and his crush the bashful Carla Marzorati end up going on a trip to a country house that has been converted into a Museum of Egyptology because everyone else had the good sense not to get the forms signed by their parents. Once there, things go into chaos as a living mummy appears on the scene!

37. ACT IV: The Entrance Hall

The Entrance Hall

The group of students advanced into the entrance hall. The place had been demolished. A single candle still burned on the huge chandelier that had crashed to the floor.

Now was a chance to go upstairs! As they did, Niall noticed a fallen lantern and placed it back in its spot. Doing so caused a panel with levers to appear on the wall. William continued up the stairs with the rest of the group minus Carla who had stayed with Niall to figure out the levers. They went past the first door on their right and on to the second, only to find it locked. So, they returned to the stairs after finding every upstairs door locked.

Arthur left the group and went downstairs to the low table. He examined it and found a burnt piece of paper. It said "If you are not afraid of the mummy go up stairs and touch the time." Arthur then turned to the mirror on the dresser in the corner. The mirror was broken and in it was a piece of paper. Arthur took it, thinking it to be another clue, which it was if only it did not appear blank meaning invisible ink was being used and that became visible when heated.

Arthur walked to the lone candlestick and placed the paper close to the flame. He discovered not writing but a plan of the hall… Or the answer to the levers!

He ran to the levers and pushed all three levers down! He then lifted the second lever twice. Then he lifted the left lever once. Finally, he lifted the right lever once.

The sound of a locked door opening was heard. The only question was which door?
