A/N- Originally I was going to do a 'Welcome to Night Vale' crossover, since the prompt was 'weather', but then that... didn't work out. It was also going to be Yokozawa x Kirishima, but I realized I need to do some brush-up research since I've never written them before. Don't worry though, yaoifan1012, I will write something with that pairing soon!

36. Weather (Romantica)

Gusty wind and a drizzle of rain battered at the windows, but the walls were thick and the heater turned up high enough that the cold outside was only seen, not felt, by the room's occupants.

"The weather's been getting colder lately." Misaki said, trying to break the silence in the penthouse. "I guess I'll have to dig out some winter jackets soon, huh?" Usami nodded, not looking up but clearly listening all the same. "I wonder how long it's going to be until it starts snowing." Misaki stirred to pan of food he was cooking, decided it needed to be on the heat for a few more minutes, and replaced the lid.

"What's your favorite season, Misaki?" the brunette leaned against the counter, looking towards the silver-haired author who had emerged from his study to work in the dining room for a while.

"Hmm... I don't know. I mean, all the seasons have their good points and bad points. Like winter- it's snowy and cold and the weather's kind of miserable outside, but there's also ice skating and warm drinks and sitting curled up on the couch with-" Misaki caught himself about to say 'with you', and cut himself off, "-people." he finished rather lamely.

The rice cooker beeped and Misaki moved to turn it off before continuing, "Or spring has flowers and symbolizes rebirth, but then there's pollen and that makes people with allergies pretty miserable. So, I don't know if I really have a favorite season." Misaki turned to chop vegetables, thinking for a moment before saying, "But I guess my favorite weather's when it's a little on the cold side but there aren't any clouds."

Misaki slid the finely-chopped vegetables into another pan, then asked, "What about you, Usagi-san? Which season's your favorite?"

"Any season I'm with Misaki is my favorite." he replied bluntly. Misaki opened his mouth to protest, but decided it would be pointless. Instead he mumbled,

"In that case... I guess any season I'm with Usagi-san is my favorite, too."
