There was noise all around me. There was a dull ache in the back of my head. I was lying face down on cold tiles. I had woken up and it took me a while to realise where I was, having not yet opened my eyes. I lied perfectly still, not knowing what the current situation was. However, from the sound of shifting furniture and the recognisable voices of several Order members, I came to the conclusion that we were safe. I still had not opened my eyes or moved my body. The pain in my head throbbed so I thought any sudden movement wouldn't be wise. Instead, I tried to focus on the voices I was hearing around me.

'There must have been about thirty death eaters in the street by the time we arrived.'

'I know; it was lucky that neither of the kids or Remus decided to fight back. They would have been too out numbered. Give me a hand with this will you?' There was the sound of a heavy table being dragged and then lifted on the floor.

'Did you see where Remus went? He disappeared very quickly.'

'No, I didn't He looked okay though. Thank Merlin all three of them got through that unscathed. Remus stupefied Harry and Hermione to make them look like they'd already been hurt you know? So that the death eaters wouldn't go near them. They were so lucky not to be found.'

'Shame that can't be said for that poor girl though.'

'I know. It's horrific. Her parents are outside. They were hidden in the kitchen. Thought she was in there with them, you know? In fact, I think that's where Remus is. I think he's with the poor girl's parents.'

'Did you see her?'

'Who?'

'The girl…'

'Oh, yes. I did.'

'Did you notice how… how'

'Yeah, I noticed. Hermione can't know though. I know the girl. It'd kill her.'

I knew that voice. It was Sirius. What was he talking about?

I slowly brought my hand to my head and used the other to, even more slowly, prop myself up. I opened my eyes and looked around me. Someone had moved me further back into the kitchen – away from the door frame where I had been hit by the stunning spell. I got to my knees and then stood up properly. I allowed my spinning head to calm down before walking through the door frame (the door lay, blasted off of its hinges, at the side of the counter) and approaching Sirius and the other order member he had been talking to.

'What can't I know?', he didn't respond to me at first, 'What can't I know Sirius?' But then I noticed a small group of order members gathered around one of the tables on the far side of the room. I weaved my way through fallen tables and chairs. I peered through the crowd and the breath left my body. A young girl – perhaps a year or two younger than me – lay slumped under the table that was against the wall and with her soft brown curls that had fallen over her open, staring, chocolate brown eyes, she looked just like me.

I dropped to the ground with realisation.

My eyes stared at the ground.

My body started to shake.

I was ignoring the sounds of people saying my name around me.

But I could only focus on one thought.

They thought she was me. Oh God, they thought this young girl was me. They thought this young girl, who had been out spending the day with her parents, was me. They killed her. They killed her thinking she was me…
